Here’s a (small) partial listing of the details:

For auction I have a Ducati 851 track bike. Ridden by an old guy on track days for the last 15 years and built and maintained buy one of the best Ducati shops on the planet this is a rare find for the lucky new owner. Built on a ex Doug Polen frame and serviced by BCM Ducati this 851 has received constant professional up keep and is fresh and ready to ride/race. These photos were just taken moments before this listing was created. This is a hand built bike with a factory racing frame, there is a salvage title for the motor from the donor bike but not for the Corsa racing frame. The motor is from a 92 street bike the frame is thought to be a 91. The 905cc big bore kit puts out 105 hp on the dyno with a mild cam to make it a very ride able bike. A very light package tipping the scales at approximately 381 pounds with half a tank of fuel. As you will find with a lot of different Ducatis the rear engine frame mounts have been welded years ago. The main frame along with the front and rear sub frames are straight but there is a small ding in the front upper frame tube from the left upper triple clamp as is common on the 851 and others. Some say this distinguishes it as frame used by #23; the signature was obtained on the Carbon Kevlar tank years later and clear coated over. The lower fairing was modified to incorporate the often mandatory liquid catch pan. To give you an idea on the investment it takes to build a bike as trick as this there is about $5000.00 in just the front end alone. Add it all up and I think you’ll agree the asking price is just a fraction of the value represented.

The 851 is already a desirable classic, and this one with a corsa frame ridden by Doug Polen makes it that much more rare and collectible. 

I would jump on this one if I have the money and the garage space!

The first one is red, located in Damascus, Oregon and has 11,521 miles – .

The second is located in Phoenix, AZ and is described as a “barn find” with only 3,131 miles – the listing states the original “The owner parked it in a barn in 1985 after the kick stand cut-out switch failed and it sat covered for all those years…” .

The first example has a detailed history of the 1985 Ducati Cagiva Alazzurra 650:

First, Let’s start with the history of the Cagiva Alazzurra.  Here is a brief description courtesy from “Classic Motorcycles”:

“Badge engineering” is a familiar term in the automobile industry, loosely defined as the rebadging of one make and model to create another. Think of a Chrysler sedan from the Eighties, and it will undoubtedly have one or two nearly identical siblings. And while this is the kind of marketing one might expect from decades past in Detroit, it wasn’t common in Bologna, even during their toughest times.

In 1985, Ducati had just been purchased by Cagiva. Cagiva, then the largest Italian motorcycle manufacturer, was primarily making mopeds and small street bikes at the time, and many of them were two-strokes. To expand into the middle- and heavyweight street bike market, it needed four-stroke engines. As the March 1985 issue of Rider magazine said, “There were several reasons why Ducati’s engine manufacturing facility was the logical candidate to supply Cagiva with motors: The physical plant was already there, the product was good, and it was the only segment of Ducati’s operation that had been profitable.”

Cagiva’s owners, the Castiglioni brothers, had a new direction in mind for the company, and it included widening the scope of the company’s products beyond that of just sport bikes for enthusiasts. Two years before Cagiva purchased Ducati, Ducati had agreed to supply engines to Cagiva for two models, the Elefant dual-sport bike and the Alazzurra, a bike very similar to the earlier Ducati Pantah. It was 1985 before the two bikes hit the production line.

The 650cc Alazzurra was essentially the latest version of the Ducati Pantah when it debuted in 1985.

The detailed description of the first bike:

This pristine example has only covered 11,360 miles and is in impeccable condition.  The 650 L-Twin Ducati Desno motor is similar to current Monster motors. Rated at 56 HP and a weight weight of only 435 pounds gives it a top speed of over 115mph.  Carbs are 36mm Dellorto pumpers. 5spd transmission, Brembo dual discs on the front and a single disc rear provide excellent stopping power. Suspension is by Marzocchi, both the front forks and the rear remote reservoir shocks.  This a very comfortable sport tourer with a more standard riding position and a very comfortable seat.

Excellent all original example except for the Yamaha brake master cylinder that was installed to give better brake feel by it’s original owner, the late Merlyn Plumlee, the famed HRC crew chief who purchased it for his wife.   The bike has had the belts changed and valves checked, and the carbs were recently gone thru.  Bridgestone BattleAx tires have less than 500 miles and the battery was new last year.  Complete with owner’s manual as well as parts and service manuals.  You won’t find a nicer one, even the clock works!

The barn find:

This bike is the definition of a barn find! The owner parked it in a barn in 1985 after the kick stand cut-out switch failed and it sat covered for all those years in Prescott Az. I cleaned out the fuel tank and sealed it, replace the petcocks, fuel lines, spark plugs, cleaned the carbs and rebuilt them, replace the battery,replace the leaking front master cylinder, changed the oil and the bike fired right up! Lukily when put into storage the cylinders were oiled and on inspection looked new. I rode the bike and it runs and shifts smoothly, but with original tires I wouldn’t ride it very far. The paint was abused badly from bumps and hits so I had it repainted with the original colors, otherwise it’s as it came from the factory. It is not perfect, the hand grips are cracked but are embossed with Cagiva so I did not replace them. The turn signals do not work but I suspect it is a defective flasher but couldn’t find a replacement and didn’t want to molest the wiring. The wind screen has a warp in it but isn’t that bad, other than that it’s as sweet an Alazzurra as you will ever find.

It would be really hard to chose between the two but depending on the barn find’s reserve, I don’t think you could go wrong with either.

I don’t have any firsthand knowledge of these motorcycles so I turned to Wikipedia:

The Honda Interceptor VTR 250 was sold only in the United States from 1988 to 1990, with moderate changes occurring over the three model years. With a 249cc 4-stroke liquid-cooled DOHC V-twin engine and a 6-speed transmission, VTR 250 was the smallest of Honda’s Interceptor line of motorcycles.

It was originally available in two color schemes, black with blue and white, and white with blue. The 1989 model was no longer called “Interceptor” and was available in only white with two shades of blue.

The 1990 model was produced in white and blue with stripes and “VTR” decal in blue and magenta. The front wheel was 17″ and the front disc brakes were external.

The ebay description adds a few more details:

1989 Honda 250 VTR Interceptor with low milage of only 4,783 miles.
This 1989 Honda 250 VTR has a brand new set of tires and a new battery.
The carbs have been rebuilt in the last month and all fluids have been changed.
This bike runs great & would be a good starter bike for anyone.
There are some scratches on plastics and a light dent on the gas tank.

This appears to be a very clean, low mileage example and the relatively inexpensive price makes it a perfect starter or commuter bike.

These motorcycles are a tribute to the late Formula One driver Ayrton Senna who was tragically killed in 1994.

From Wikipedia:

Ayrton Senna da Silva, São Paulo, March 21, 1960, – Bologna Italy May 1, 1994) was a Brazilian racing driver and three-time Formula One world champion. He was killed in a crash while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, and remains the most recent Grand Prix driver to die at the wheel of a Formula One car.

Senna began his motorsport career in karting and moved up the ranks to win the British Formula 3 championship in 1983. Making his Formula One debut with Toleman in 1984, he moved to Lotus-Renault the following year, and won six Grands Prix over the next three seasons. In 1988 he joined Frenchman Alain Prost at McLaren-Honda. Between them, Senna and Prost won fifteen out of the sixteen Grands Prix which took place that season, with Senna winning his first World Championship, a title he would go on to win again in 1990 and 1991. McLaren’s performance declined in 1992, as the Williams-Renault combination began to dominate the sport, although Senna won five races to finish as runner-up in 1993. He moved to Williams in 1994, but suffered a fatal accident at the third race of the season at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Italy.

Senna is regarded as one of the greatest drivers in the history of Formula One. He was recognized for his qualifying speed over one lap and from 1989 until 2006 held the record for most pole positions. He was among the most talented drivers in extremely rain-affected conditions, as shown by his performances in the 1984 Monaco Grand Prix, the 1985 Portuguese Grand Prix, and the 1993 European Grand Prix. He also holds the record for most victories at the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix (6) and is the third most successful driver of all time in terms of race wins. However, Senna courted controversy throughout his career, particularly during his turbulent rivalry with Alain Prost, which was marked by two championship-deciding collisions at the 1989 and 1990 Japanese Grands Prix.

What else makes this bike so special? The ebay description of bike #212 states:

Which one would I have? Both are great but I would go for #212 as it is barely broken in and has a lot of upgrades including a tinted windscreen, Fast by Ferracci slip on carbon fiber exhaust and BST carbon fiber wheels with new tires.

You might ask, what qualified as a Formula Xtreme machine. Well, here is the answer from Wikipedia:

In order to be successfully entered in a Formula Xtreme event, motorcycles must be homologated. They must also be of a model type that is designed and legal for street use in the United States and is available from retail dealerships in the U.S.

Although liberal by the standards of the other classes in the AMA Superbike Series, Formula Xtreme rules still limit the modifications that may be made to a motorcycle to be entered in a Formula Xtreme event. The rules specify what changes are and are not permitted, including modification or replacement of various engine internals, transmission components, and other non-powertrain components of the vehicle such as the suspension, wheels, frame, swingarm, bodywork, wheels, etc. The rules also specify mimimum weight limits, allowable fuel types, which production components must be left in place and rules for availability of non-stock components from the manufacturer. Lastly, the type of engine (displacement and configuration) is governed by a set of guidelines that attempts to bring technical diversity to the class by establishing technical limitations that allow different technologies to remain competitive. For example, air/oil-cooled twin-cylinder engines are allowed a larger displacement limit. There are also differences in allowed modifications to engine internals depending on the engine configuration, again to encourage technical diversity in the class by ensuring that motorcycles with different engine configurations remain competitive.

Formula Xtreme has since been replaced by the AMA Daytona Sportbike Championship.

Brand new and perfect condition. Never ridden. This is a clean, 0 Mile RS125. Model year is 1997. I had it race prepped last year, new tires and a complete prep, but never made it to the track. I have 13 other motorcycles and unfortunately I just never found the time to take the RS to the track.

These things used to kick my butt through the turns and I always felt a personal triumph when I passed one on the straights, which wasn’t too often. I also have a nice memory of the smell of 2-stokes in the morning when they all fired up just as the clock ticked 8:00am in the pits. I still long for the day when one of the big 4 can choke down a 2 stroker to pass emissions, only to let the buying public de-restrict them. You know, the same way they do 4 strokes…. Needless to say, if you’re in the market for a really cool, brand new track tool this might be your ticket. Price is $6,950.00 B.I.N.

Found this one while I was searching this morning and it should please any of our Bimota fans. This SB6R has been modified quite a bit, but they are all very tasteful and should maintain the integrity of this classic exotica.

Owner comments:

The accessories include large diameter CF sport mufflers, K&N Carb Jet kit, with a high flow fuel pump, Gold Ti coated fork tubes and a 530 chain and sprockets conversion. The carbon fiber frame protectors, CF one piece belly pan, CF inner fairing panels, CF mirrors and CF front cowling really sets this bike apart from any other SB6R.
The contrasting gold top triple clamp adds a touch of color.

The instrumentation is by Stack: 8130sp electronic rally dash. The handle bars have Salamander anti vibe bar ends. The shock reservoir clamp is made from billet stock.
Ignition is by Dynatek 2000, this system includes 3ohm coils and is multi adjustable with variable (1&4) (2&3) spark timing.

Front brakes are by “Braking” wave rotors. The calipers are K.A.D. six piston monoblock. All the pads are new.
The rear rotor is titanium including titanium rotor bolts front and back.
The foot pegs are Vortec.

Suspension: Paoli 46mm RSU forks, fully adjustable. Ohlins rear shock multi adjustable

Engine modifications include a properly installed and tuned Cosworth 1199cc 12.5:1 compression big bore piston kit. Lightly ported cylinder head and degreed stock cams.

If you’re in the market for a Bimota this one might be for you. The owner has listed several contact numbers for anyone interested in more information. I really like all of the Carbon Fibre on this one. Very nice indeed!

The MAS12 has more than just a Moto Guzzi prototype. It is driven by a powerful water-cooled 1,105 cc four-stroke with 4 valve in titanium, high compression two-segment pistons, twin cam shaft on top. It is also a machine dedicated to all riders who love and understand motorcycling, not an over-tuned mass of technology for a limited few.

The bike comes with all the best, top parts from the motorcycle industry, including forged Marchesini wheels, Ohlins steering dampener, rear Sachs shock, Marzocci forks, Brembo front brakes and CRG rear brake and other top parts. This bike is one of the most rare bikes on the road.

Would have been nice to see pictures of the trick parts and overall condition considering the price tag, but the seller does offer his phone # for any interested parties.
