Honda’s long running series of racing and homologation motorcycles powered by their beloved V4 engine ended with the RC45, when superbike racing rules made the 750cc V4 non-competitive against the 1000cc v-twins of the time. V4s disappeared almost completely, outside the odd sport-touring machine, until relatively recently, when some MotoGP teams began using V4 engines to power their racing prototypes. Aprilia’s complete redesign of the RSV1000R superbike saw the introduction of the Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC, a bike that offered something other road bikes did not: an all-new 65° V4 displacing 999cc and fitted with a cutting-edge electronics suite the company dubbed “APRC” or “Aprilia Performance Ride Control” that incorporated traction control, launch control, wheelie control, and a quickshifter. The bike was immediately successful in superbike racing, and other manufacturers adopted the engine format in an effort to compete. Most notably Ducati made the switch, recognizing that a V4 provided a much easier route to the power levels they needed than a v-twin, while offering less frontal area than an inline four for better aerodynamics, better mass-centralization, and improved traction, albeit at the cost of increased complexity and some additional weight. The Aprilia RSV4 has never been the lightest or most powerful superbike, but it is very compact and offers a combination of excellent handling, a flexible engine, and a cutting-edge electronics suite that helped it win accolades on both road and track for more than a decade, in spite of fierce competition within the segment.

For a long time, I felt that this Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC was far and away the best-looking version of the RSV4, a bike that I personally don’t think is very pretty, but is distinctive, purposeful, and aggressive. I’ve ridden an RSV4 in these colors and the early LCD screen functions are almost impossible to read on the move, but the RSV4 lives up to the hype: it’s immensely powerful, but surprisingly unintimidating to ride, the seat height lets a wide range of riders easily put their feet flat at stops, and the bike, while a technically bit heavy, doesn’t feel it and is very compact. It’s not my favorite superbike to look at, but it’s pretty terrific to ride, and then there’s that sound, one of the best in motorcycling. You can certainly find cheaper RSV4s if that’s your goal, but this early bike does have the first iteration of Aprilia’s APRC electronics package to help keep you out of a ditch, and it looks great.

Quick note before we get into it: the listing title calls this a ZX6R. The VIN says otherwise. This is the ZX-6E, the sport-touring sibling with the integrated full fairing, more upright ergonomics, and mirrors that actually belong on a street bike. Not a knock. Just a different animal, and one that almost nobody kept.

The whole point of this bike is to ride miles and miles. And most did exactly that, for years, until the fairings cracked and the carbs gummed up and the bikes quietly disappeared.

This one has 2,216 miles on it. In nearly 30 years.

The photos back it up. Paint is deep and glossy with no visible cracks or repairs in the fairings. Engine cases are clean and unscratched. Switchgear shows almost no wear. The aluminum frame rails are spotless. Original tool kit still lives under the seat. This bike has been sitting, not suffering.

The ZX-6E doesn’t carry the collector cachet of the race-spec ZX-6R/F, but a dead-stock survivor with this kind of mileage at $4,300 is hard to argue with. You’re not going to find another one this clean on Craigslist. You might not find another one this clean anywhere.

At $4,300 with 2,216 miles and a clean title, this is a great opportunity to actually ride a nearly 30-year-old bike that looks like it just rolled out of the showroom. Someone’s going to have a lot of fun on this thing.

1,900 miles on a 35-year-old Gixxer is the kind of number that makes you stop scrolling. And the bike looks every bit as clean as the seller says. The 1990 model is widely considered the best of the oil-cooled GSX-R750s, and it earned that reputation. Suzuki went back to the long-stroke engine that year, addressed the issues with the 1988/89 short-strokers, and gave the 750 a new frame, remote reservoir shock, and 38mm Slingshot carbs straight from the race program. It was a proper reset, and the result was a bike that could go racing on Saturday and ride home Sunday.

Note that the solo seat is missing from the photo, worth asking about before you make the trip.

$15,000 is a serious ask for a Facebook Marketplace listing with one photo and no additional details. Whether it’s the right number depends entirely on what you find when you get there. And if the bike is as solid as it looks, getting there might be worth it.

The real question is how far you’re willing to drive for a clean, stock, oil-cooled 750 in this color. Red’s already thinking about it.

Two things worth confirming before you go further. First, verify the model year. The Hurricane name belongs to the earlier NC23-era CBR400R. By 1992 that designation had changed. Worth a quick VIN check to make sure the paperwork and the bike are telling the same story. Second, look closely at the seller’s tank photo. There’s white residue visible inside. Could be old fuel deposits, water contamination, or a liner treatment. Ask before you commit.

Low kilometers, known location, Florida title. The bones are right. Just do your homework on those two items first.

You’re seeing motorcycle art at its finest. The envy Augusta F3 Ago was a very limitedly produced 800cc 158 hp tri exhaust. Despite the low mileage, the vehicle was just recently serviced in the last 60 days at the dealer with all seals and gaskets replaced fresh service and new tires. It also comes with the original custom desk, cover and a few spare parts.

MV built exactly 300 of these, each carrying Giacomo Agostini’s personal autograph on the tank and a numbered plaque on the steering yoke certifying which of the 300 it is. Fifteen world championships on a fuel tank. Tricolor paint, gold wheels, carbon fenders, forged alloy rims. It’s a lot, and somehow it works.

This one is #6.

At $9,500 with 1,244 miles, this is priced well under market right now, but the auction runs through Monday so that gap may close. A comparable example with around 1,100 miles brought $13,300 on BaT last year. William covered this model in depth a few years back. Worth a read if you want the full breakdown.

Make sure the Ago book and cover are accounted for, and this one’s worth a very serious look.

The tricolor wasn’t a color option. It was the only option. This bike doesn’t do subtle. It does Italy, loudly, at 13,000 rpm.

Here’s the fuller picture (from Godin): Bimota launched the DB2 in 1993 around the air/oil-cooled Ducati 900SS engine. The SR came later fitted with fuel injection, an attempt to boost power and midrange torque. The SR designation was meant to imply sports and racing, and apart from the red, white and purple paintwork, the only change from the standard DB2 was a fuel injection system developed by Bimota in conjunction with TDD of Bologna. The injection system was problematic, plagued by a lack of development tied to the company’s constant financial troubles, which is why only 157 or so were built.

That last part is worth sitting with. The engine control unit (ECU) was made by TDD, a small Italian company near the Ducati factory in Bologna, and a direct replacement is essentially unobtanium at this point. If the FI system on one of these goes sideways, you’re looking at a custom solution. The seller says it’s “fully serviced,” which is the right answer, but you’d want to know more about what that means before handing over $21k. (Read “Scope Creep” in the Ducati forum if interested.)

The photos tell a better story than the listing does. Paint looks sharp, the gold Paioli forks are clean, the carbon exhaust sits right. For 7,800 miles this thing presents well.

Price context on these is genuinely hard. The SR is rare enough that comps are nearly nonexistent. If the bike is right, $21k is defensible. If it needs ECU work, the math changes fast. On Facebook Marketplace with few words of description, you’re doing your own due diligence.

Worth a phone call. Then a thorough inspection. Then probably a very good conversation about the ECU.

1996 Ducati 900SS/SP

The Ducati 900SS/SP was the 1990s iteration of the company’s long-running SuperSport series that started with the iconic 750SS in the 1970s. The original SuperSports were the top of the range bikes, and the only Ducatis that actually featured the famous Desmodromic valve system, up until the widespread change to the Pantah engine in the 1980s. By the time this version of the 900SS was introduced, the SuperSport had been supplanted at the top of the range by the liquid-cooled Desmoquattro superbikes like the 851, 888, and eventually the 916, with much more modest performance from the air/oil-cooled, two-valve, 904cc engine and six-speed gearbox. But the engine is characterful and punches harder than you might expect from the claimed 84hp, the bike has Ducati’s famed stability, quality brakes, offers reasonable ergonomics, and is relatively easy to maintain. Here in the US, we got two version of the bike: the 900SS/CR and the 900SS/SP. The CR was often seen with a stylish half-fairing, a non-adjustable fork from Showa or Marzocchi, and an adjustable rear shock. The SP had a full-fairing, with an adjustable Showa fork and shock, an aluminum, versus steel swingarm, a wider rear wheel, better brake discs, some carbon bits, and a numbered plaque.

Thirty years old, 15,960 miles, and built the way these things should have left the factory. This is an SP — the high-spec version — and it’s been upgraded properly with period-correct, purpose-built parts, not bolt-on junk.

What’s on it: Keihin FCR 41 flatside carbs (just professionally cleaned), Ducati Performance / S&P rearsets , FBF/Silmotor high mount carbon exhaust, Ohlins steering damper, carbon engine covers and fenders, and gold Brembo stoppers. Belts and valves done within the last 5,000 miles.

Very special example especially due to the dp fairings. This comes with a complete Ducati Performance carbon fiber fairing set — full kit, solo seat with pad, all mounting hardware. These don’t come up for sale. If you know what they’re worth, you know what this listing is worth. Original owner’s manual and dealer paperwork from new. Clean CA title.

Prefer to sell complete at $7,500. Can strip the CF fairings, rearsets, FCR carbs, and Ohlins damper and sell with stock controls and carbs at $5,500 — but sourcing those parts separately will cost you well over $2,000.

Most of the folks visiting this site are here for the top-shelf Ducati superbikes, like the 851 and 916. But, in spite of the possibly underwhelming specifications, this Ducati 900SS/SP is worth serious consideration for any rider who plans to spend most of their time on the road, and not a racetrack. It’s also ideal for riders who want a simpler to maintain machine that still looks, sounds, and handles like a real Ducati. The price being asked here is a good bit higher than what we’ve recently seen, but the condition and updates probably justify the price. The Keihin FCR41 flat-slide carburetors are a very popular and worthwhile modification for carbureted Ducatis, and new kits are nearly $2,000 on their own. The high-mount exhaust from FastByFerracci [rebranded SilMoto pipes] mirrors the Superlight setup and is intended to improve ground clearance, but does eliminate the passenger pegs. The sytem should also save some weight, and  help the bike sound suitably Ducati-ish. The carbon bodywork is also very nice, but probably saves only a couple pounds, and won’t improve performance much more than skipping lunch would. Bottom line: you can find cheaper, possibly lower-mile SuperSports, but if you’re looking to actually ride your bike, this one is well worth a look.

2004 Aprilia RSV1000R Factory

The Aprilia RSV was the company’s first large-displacement sportbike and a shot across Ducati’s bow. As you’d expect, it was powered by a booming v-twin, but the Aprilia’s Rotax-developed engine introduced significant innovations, including a narrow 70° v-angle that improved packaging, compared to the Ducati “L-twin.” A set of balance shafts negated the vibrations the narrower configuration would normally cause, allowing the engine to rev freely and make competitive power, while an unusual, vacuum-assisted “pneumatic” slipper clutch helped smooth downshifts. This engine was wrapped by Aprilia’s characteristic aluminum beam frame, and the whole package worked extremely well while proving to be surprisingly reliable as a bonus. The Aprilia RSV1000R Factory seen here showcases the company’s first major update to their v-twin superbike, with completely new bodywork and a redesigned frame. In this iteration, the “Factory” designation denotes the premium trim level that also served as the homologation version of the bike. As you’d expect, the Factory included a fully-adjustable Öhlins shock and steering damper, forged aluminum wheels, and “lightweight” carbon-fiber bits.

While the Aprilia RSV1000R Factory doesn’t quite have the cachet of a contemporary Ducati 999, it’s still a very handsome bike with far less controversial styling, makes a great sound from the period Akrapovic exhaust, and has handling to match. Plus there’s the added bonus of better ergonomics than you’ll find on the aforementioned Ducatis. The issue here is that this example is probably priced at least several thousand dollars too high, based on other bikes we’ve seen for sale recently. But if you’ve been jones-ing for an RSV1000R, this very low mile, one-owner example might be worth the extra CASH ONLY the seller is very adamant about. As a bonus, it also sounds like you’ll be handed a tall, cold, Monster Energy drink as you fork over your CASH ONLY, NO CERTIFIED CHECK, NO BULLSHIT..

1999 Ducati supersport 900 recently brought out storage with 9400 miles. In excellent condition. Recent service includes, new fuel pump, fuel filter and lines internally. K&N air filter, oil Filter and Motul 7100 15w-50 oil. New OEM Ducati belts and valves adjusted. New Yuasa battery. Remus Slip-on exhaust, front and rear carbon fiber fenders and carbon fiber dash applique. Starts and runs excellent. Everything works except fuel light. This is an excellent example of classic air cooled 2 valve Ducati. Clean title in hand, registration is PNO. Have 2 keys.

Most 900SS bikes you see are red. This one’s in Ducati Yellow, the color choice with its own cult following among SS owners. Trellis frame, that hump of a tail section. Ducati never really chased trends with this shape, which is why it hasn’t aged out of one.

What sells this one isn’t the color, though, it’s the list. Belts done, valves adjusted, fresh fuel system top to bottom, new battery. That’s not someone dressing up a bike to flip it, that’s someone waking it up properly after a long nap. PNO registration backs up the storage story too.

The mods are tasteful and reversible: Remus slip-on, carbon fenders, carbon dash trim. Nothing that fights the bike’s character.

At $5,500, this lands right in the market range, comparable 900SS sales have run $5,000 to $6,500 depending on miles and documentation. A comparable 1999 900SS sold at auction this year for $6,527. Auction houses earn that premium by doing the vetting for you: condition reports, history checks, eyes on the bike before anyone bids. Buy private and that job is yours. If you know what to look for on an air-cooled SS and you can get out to Chino Hills to see it in person, you may be able to do that inspection yourself and pocket the difference. For the right buyer, the one willing to do the legwork, this is a good deal.

The XLCR was Harley’s black sheep, and it knew it. Willie G. designed a café racer in 1977, Harley built it, and the market shrugged. Dealers couldn’t move them. Production lasted two years, and then it was gone. Four decades later, the shrug turned into a bidding war.

This one has 3,800 miles on it. For a 47-year-old Harley that nobody wanted in period, that’s a remarkable survival. Someone bought it, someone kept it, and now here we are on BaT with a few hours left on the clock.

GLewisJohnson in the comments put it better than most: the XLCR pulls you back to a time before everything got loud in a different way. And Pchmotoho nailed something that’s worth saying plainly: if your Harley knowledge begins and ends at twin-cam V-twins and chrome, this bike might confuse you. That’s the point. The XLCR was built for a different kind of Harley customer, one who maybe had a BSA in the garage and appreciated that someone in Milwaukee was trying something new.

They were right, just early.

3,800 miles. Black. Café stance. The kind of bike that rewards knowing what you’re looking at.
