Not much of a write up from the seller, but the photos carry it. Purple and grey paint still has its shine, chrome and switchgear look untouched, and that Yoshimura full system hanging off the back tells you this wasn’t a bike that just sat in a garage under a cover.

Here’s the piece of trivia worth knowing: 1993 was the last year Suzuki brought this faired Katana 1100 into the US. Factory code GSX1100F if you’re digging through parts fiche, though this one just wears “Katana” and “1100” like most of them do. Air/oil-cooled four, built off the GSX-R1100 bottom end but retuned with 34mm Mikuni flatslides for midrange grunt instead of top end screaming. This isn’t the bike you buy to chase a redline, it’s the one you buy to eat a few hundred highway miles and still want to ride home.

Two owners and 5,108 miles on a 33 year old bike is a genuinely low number, and the aftermarket pipe tells you somebody actually rode it enough to want a little more sound and a little less weight hanging off the subframe.

At $3,800 with these miles and that exhaust already done, this feels like fair money for a clean, honest example of the last US Katana.

2003 was it for the ZX-7R. Kawasaki built this thing as a homologation special starting back in 1991 to keep it legal for World Superbike, and it stayed carbureted its entire run, right up through this last model year, even as rivals like the Ducati 916 had already gone fuel injected almost a decade earlier. It never got the poster-bike fame of a 916 or an RC45, but it’s built a loyal following since.

Two owners and a seller who clearly put money into it before selling: new tires, new battery, carbs cleaned and synced, all the filters, fresh oil. That’s a good sign no matter the mileage.

The GB500 TT was Honda’s shot at building a modern classic before “modern classic” was even a category. Single cylinder, air-cooled, styled to look like it rolled out of the Isle of Man circa 1965 but built with 1989 reliability. Honda only made them for two model years, so a clean, stock, low-mile example is already starting from a small pool.

And this one is genuinely low mile. For context, a 17,000-mile GB500 TT sold at Mecum’s Las Vegas motorcycle auction in January 2024 for $4,500. This bike has less than a third of those miles and is asking a grand more, private sale, no buyer’s premium stacked on top. Clean examples with mileage in this range have been trading well north of that lately, so the math here works in the buyer’s favor.

The Deltabox V frame narrows this down to the 2004-2006 R1 generation, right in the middle of Graves Motorsports’ best years in AMA racing. Chuck Graves has been building race parts for the R1 since it launched in 1998, and the shop’s most famous stunt came in 2002, when Damon Buckmaster won the first three AMA Formula Xtreme races on a Graves-built Yamaha R7 before Honda and Suzuki protested it wasn’t properly homologated. Graves’ answer was to graft R1 bodywork and a 1078cc R1 motor onto the R7 chassis to satisfy the rulebook, and Buckmaster kept his wins and finished second in the championship that year. A couple seasons later, Graves-tuned Yamahas went 1-2 in the 2004 AMA Superstock championship, Aaron Gobert took the title with Jamie Hacking second, and in 2006 Hacking swept both Supersport and Superstock on a Graves Factory Yamaha, a double nobody had pulled off in almost twenty years. If this bike is running real Graves internals from that stretch, it’s wearing a resume that actually won races.

We’ve been burned by a “Graves” claim before. Worth a read on the one we covered a while back if you want a reminder of why that name on a listing needs receipts. This one at least backs up the claim with the Deltabox V frame and a factory Graves exhaust, more than the last one had going for it, but “trust me” is still doing a lot of the heavy lifting until more photos and some history show up.

At $6,000 with cash or trade on the table, and sitting up in Argyle, NY, this one won’t last if the story checks out.

2008 MV Agusta F4R 312

MV Agusta’s F4 represented the company’s triumphant return to motorcycle production, a gorgeous sportbike that incorporated exotic technology and race-bred engineering intended to make it competitive on both road and track. Unfortunately, it was also a 750cc machine launched into a world suddenly dominated by lightweight literbikes, and the F4 never really had a chance to shine. As it was, it really wasn’t functionally any better than a contemporary Suzuki GSX-R750, a bike that cost half the F4’s asking price at the time. The company quickly introduced faster versions with larger 998cc engines like this MV Agusta F4R 312, but the small company always had a hard time keeping up with the brutally rapid pace of superbike development and the F4 platform, while extremely rapid, competent, and achingly gorgeous, wasn’t truly on par performance-wise with the best from Japan. But that’s okay. Did I mention it’s achingly gorgeous?

You wouldn’t be alone if you thought the MV Agusta F4 was the world’s most beautiful motorcycle and the F4 R 312 was, when released in 2008, the world’s fastest motorcycle. That’s where the “312” in the name comes from – it’s the MV’s top speed in kilometers. In miles, it’s 193.87.

The extra grunt needed to set a speed record came from a combination of 30mm titanium intake valves, 48mm throttle bodies, and modified camshafts — all of which added nine horsepower (bringing the total up to 183 hp and 85 lb-ft of torque).

The 312 is complemented by top-notch components such as Brembo monobloc brakes, Marzocchi suspension, and Marchesini forged wheels. MV Agusta sent 150 units to the US per WSBK homologation rules – 50 in each of 3 color options: white with black, black with grey, and Corsa red with silver like the bike being offered here.

Manufactured in February 2007, this MV was purchased new from Munroe Motors in San Francisco, California in August 2007. The odometer shows 41,416 miles, it may increase slightly as being ridden each week.

After owning the bike for nearly 19 years, I am now retired at 67.5 years and rarely pilot sport motorcycles. The motorcycle rides fantastically, starting easily and delivering crisp throttle response and smooth, linear power across the entire rev range. Fast and smooth, it has never been raced and has had no accidents. It was last taken for a smooth 60 mile ride to the coast.

Fully maintained serviced; documented with all receipts from new. Maintenance performed from new as specified by the dealer and owners manual, with 86 pages of paper service receipts that have now been scanned to make available electronically.

A complete bottom-end (big end) MV Agusta partially paid rebuild was performed at 20,000 miles, followed by a comprehensive top-end rebuild at 25,000 miles, ensuring outstanding engine strength and longevity. Cylinder 4 has light piston noise at startup until warm, from full top end rebuild at 25K miles. The bike comes with over 80 pages of service history and receipts.

Full dealer major service costing $3,300 and additional parts was performed by Munroe Motors in June 2026. New plug on coil set was fitted, valve clearances, key systems, fluids, and mechanical components have been thoroughly inspected and refreshed.

The bike fell in the garden during a Christmas Day wash some years ago resulting in the side fairings being repainted. There is a 1/2″ long sealed vertical thin crack in nose fairing at screen join, minor wear on belly fairing by side stand. Minor blemishes on mirrors, wear on seat tank protector. Overall, the motorcycle looks cosmetically very good for its age and mileage, showcasing clean bodywork and beautiful paint that honors Tamburini’s iconic silhouette.

Accessories include Arrow RG3 exhaust, MV Corsa Race ECU, Power Commander III. Delivered 160 BHP at rear wheel in dyno test.

First generation Massimo Tamburini bikes like this MV Agusta F4R 312 used to be available all the time for under $10,000, but those days are long gone. Recently, they seem to pop up only rarely, with sellers testing what the market will bear with mildly ambitious asking prices. Which makes this example a breath of fresh air. But there’s a catch: the bike has a surprising 41,000 miles on the odometer! Very few F4s reach that kind of mileage, as they really are pretty uncompromising to ride, and utterly intolerable in heavy traffic. Maintenance can be demanding and the bikes have a reputation for being unreliable, but the engineering is sound and this example has been meticulously maintained, so don’t immediately be put off. If you’ve always wanted one to ride, or keep forever and aren’t bothered by mileage, this one might be worth a look.

1993 Ducati 900SL Superlight

While the name might be a bit of an exaggeration and performance only imperceptibly increased, compared to the more common versions, Ducati’s 900SL Superlight has become a bit of a darling among Ducati collectors. It’s odd because, while a regular 900SS can be had for chump change, the Superlight, which adds a few carbon panels, a solo tail section, a set of high-mount exhausts, and a pair of very nice lightweight wheels, can trade for nearly five times the price. Aside from the aforementioned lightweight bits, the Superlight keeps the 904cc Desmodue two-valve air/oil-cooled Ducati v-twin completely stock, offering the same claimed 80hp at the crank in a package that weighed just 15lbs less than the standard 900SS. The result was a bike that looked great and offered excellent handling, but was a hard sell for anyone except true aficionados.

It goes without saying that the Ducati 900SL Superlight doesn’t represent good value for money, especially when you consider current prices of the regular 900SS that’s functionally the same bike. But however you personally feel about the Superlight, the price being asked by the seller is in line with current values, especially considering the very low miles and general cosmetic condition seen here: the… unconventional storage location means no sun-bleaching of the switchgear, the plastics and carbon bits, or the decals. The downside is that you’d obviously have to perform a complete service of the bike if you intended to ride it, but I expect this one is for collectors only at this point. Which is a bit of a shame, because the Superlight, while not particularly fast, is a pretty great bike to ride. I love the look, but at these prices I’d just find a nice 900SS with a white frame, buy some quality aftermarket or second hand bodywork to paint yellow and build a replica.

2009 KTM 1190RC8

Selling my 2009 KTM 1190 RC8. It pains me to sell the bike, but I don’t ride it much with college; it’s too special a bike to sit in the garage. This is one of the rarest bikes I’ve ever found and by far the most fun. There are no rider aids, so all 90 lb-ft of torque are directly to the ground, giving the bike a uniquely raw feel. One of the craziest sounding bikes I have ever heard. Bike has absolutely no issues; it’s never been dropped or crashed. Oil changed within the last 500 miles. Back tire is nearly new, front tire is old, comes with new front tire to match back. Also comes with 3-inch riser clip-ons, which i removed. Motorcycle.com’s period review of a stock RC8 is almost the opposite of “raw.” They called the power delivery civilized and easy to ride, the exhaust a smooth hearty rumble, and singled out the chassis: sharp, angular styling that “shouts KTM” instead of copying the Japanese playbook, plus an anti-hop system on the clutch pulled straight from KTM’s MotoGP program to keep the rear wheel from locking up on hard downshifts.

That’s the stock bike, though. This one isn’t stock. JCE full exhaust, PC-V retuned to match, Rottweiler canister delete. Whatever civilized rumble that reviewer heard is long gone, and that’s almost certainly the “craziest sounding bike” the seller’s describing. The Woodcraft clip-ons with extra length, plus the stock risers included in the sale, mean the buyer gets to pick their riding position instead of being stuck with whatever the seller liked.

The seller calling this “one of the rarest bikes I’ve ever found” tracks. Total RC8 production across the 2009 and 2010 model years is generally put around 800-something units, split between this base bike and the R. 1988 Yamaha FZR400

This rare 1988 Yamaha FZR400 is a lightweight, high-revving sport bike featuring a 399cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine and an aluminum Deltabox frame. 
 
Released in the U.S. in 1988, it delivers roughly 59–60 horsepower at 12,000–12,500 rpm, a 14,000 rpm redline. Riders consider the FZR400 a unicorn bike, because of its nimble, gp-like handling.




I have owned it for 8 years. This bike is smooth through all the gears. It has been stored indoors with new fluids every spring.

We’ve featured a handful of these over the years, mostly low-mile survivors that never left the garage, like this 2,600-mile example out of Florida. This one’s a little different. Same Genesis red and white, same Deltabox chassis, but somebody actually rode it. The Kerker System K slip-on and NRC engine cover in the photos say so.

16,046 miles isn’t a huge number for a 38-year-old bike, but it’s enough to know this FZR earned its keep instead of sitting under a cover. Eight years with the same owner, indoor storage, fresh fluids every spring. That’s the kind of maintenance record that matters more than a low odometer on something this old.

The FZR400 still has a reputation as one of the best-handling 400s ever built, and the redline alone tells you why people call it a mini GP bike. If you want the deeper history on this platform, Cycle World’s rundown of the FZR400 is worth a read.

This one’s a rider’s bike wearing a few tasteful mods. Would you put the stock pipe back on for the sake of originality, or leave the Kerker and just ride it?

The Thunderace only got one model year here in the States, 1997, before Yamaha dropped the R1 and rewrote what a liter bike was supposed to be. That makes it easy to write off as a footnote. It shouldn’t be. This was the bike Yamaha built to hold the fort between the FZR1000 and the R1, and it did it with the FZR’s EXUP motor, a forward-canted five-valve head, hung in a Deltabox frame with the blue-spot calipers everybody wanted at the time. It was Bike of the Year for a reason.

Motorcycle Online tested one back in ’96 when it was brand new, and the review still holds up: “The engine spins freely and quickly, producing usable power from as low as 2000 rpm… by 5000 the big Yamaha launches you into orbit, pulling cleanly with seamless, linear power all the way up to its 11,500 rpm redline.” They also called the brakes “phenomenally powerful,” better than the YZF750’s or the ZX-7R’s binders, and summed the whole bike up as “remarkably relaxed for a 145 bhp sport machine.” That’s not the language you use for a bike that’s trying to be a razor. It’s the language you use for a bike that wants to eat highway miles and still embarrass a 600 on a back road when you ask it to.

1997 Yamaha YZF1000R Thunderace — fully rebuilt, big-bore, one-year-only US model.

Frame-off rebuild by me with only ~4,000 miles on the fresh motor. Chassis shows 46,000, but the engine is essentially new.

The Thunderace was only sold in the US for the 1997 model year: FZR1000 EXUP engine in a YZF frame, “bike of the year” in ’97, and the last of the old-school big-bore Yamahas before the R1. Rare here in the US, but most parts are easy to source since it shares them with common Yamahas.

The rebuild: I bought it in 2010 and stripped it to the frame before even riding it. While the engine was apart I installed a Wiseco 1040cc big-bore kit and replaced all the valve stem seals (the weak point on these YZFs/FZRs — this one has zero leaks after the work). The rebuild was done to curb any potential oil consumption, a common complaint with these bikes, not due to any internal engine damage. Fork seals and stainless braided clutch and brake lines done at the same time.

It sat in storage after an unrelated 2014 accident on a different bike of mine — this Thunderace was parked and untouched, never involved. I pulled it out last year and got it fully sorted. Fires right up and runs strong. New tires last year with almost no miles on them (they still have the nubs).

Mods: YZF750R swingarm · Delkevic downpipes (retains EXUP valve) · Yoshimura slip-on · Sprocket Specialists rear sprocket · dual HID headlights · Pyramid Plastics seat cowl.

A reader on this site put it well a few years back on another Thunderace we posted: it’s “a seriously under-rated bike, probably because it was followed by the R1. Kind of like the before picture in a weight loss advert.” Harsh, but not wrong. The R1 stole all the headlines and left the Thunderace looking heavy by comparison, even though at 435 pounds dry it was actually the lightest literbike of its day.

What makes this particular one different isn’t the bike, it’s what’s been done to it. Most Thunderaces you find today are either tired originals or someone’s half-finished project. This one’s neither. The seller pulled it down to the frame before he ever rode it, went into the motor with a Wiseco 1040cc big-bore kit, and knocked out the valve stem seals while he was in there, which is the thing that actually kills these engines over time. That’s not a bike that’s been fixed. That’s a bike that’s been rebuilt ahead of the problem.

So yes, the odometer reads 46,000. Look past it. The motor underneath has roughly 4,000 miles on it, built by someone who clearly wasn’t trying to flip it fast. It sat for a few years after a separate accident on a different bike, not this one, and got sorted out and put back on the road last year. Fresh tires, fresh fluids in all the important places, and it runs the way a rebuilt motor should.

The mods here point toward a bike meant to be used, not looked at. EXUP-retaining downpipes, a Yosh slip-on, a swapped swingarm and sprocket, HID lighting for actually seeing at night. Add in the spare carbs, extra cylinders, and a grab bar and luggage rack, and this reads like a bike somebody planned on keeping and riding for a long time, not flipping. Whoever buys it next gets to just pick up where that plan left off.

This isn’t a garage queen and it isn’t pretending to be one. It’s a rider’s Thunderace, built by someone who cared enough to do the engine right the first time instead of limping it along. If you want a rare, one-year-only 90s Yamaha you can actually put miles on without worrying about a tired motor underneath you, this is about as good a starting point as you’ll find at this price. The chip in the windscreen is right there in the photos, no surprises, and the seller says inspections are welcome.

Selling my 1984 Yamaha FJ1100 in as-is condition, title in-hand. Everything on the bike is OEM (i.e. no aftermarket pipes or other parts).

My uncle purchased the bike brand new in 1984 and rode it up through circa 2012, after which it has sat inside his – and then more recently my – garage under a cover and not since been started. It will need a full overhaul from sitting so long, and I don’t know exactly what it needs, so it’s being sold in as-is condition.

I believe I have the original manual and repair manual for the bike, as well as an original cage mount for the back of the bike (not pictured) that he purchased new but was never installed.

Take on the project that I’ve never had time to work on! Pickup and cash only, price is firm, cannot deliver, sorry!

Q&A: Was it parked with gas in the tank? Yes.
Does the key open the gas cap? Yes.
Why was it parked / why did it go from being ridden to parked? Uncle bought a Goldwing and that became his new baby.

An uncle traded a sportbike for a Goldwing sometime around 2012 and this is what got left behind. Do any of our readers look for projects? Please let us know if you like seeing these posts when we find them, or not.

The FJ1100 doesn’t get talked about enough. In 1984 it basically invented the sport-touring class as we know it, full fairing, upright ergonomics, real wind protection, and a chassis built around the bodywork instead of the other way around. Cycle Guide named it Bike of the Year. Yamaha squeezed the alternator in behind the cylinders instead of hanging it off the crank end, which is why the FJ is noticeably narrower than you’d expect for an air-cooled 1097cc inline-four making 125 horsepower. That trick, and the overall formula, is a direct ancestor of the FJR1300 decades later.

This one is a genuine time capsule. One owner, sat under cover for over a decade, gas still in the tank, title clean, and the seller is refreshingly honest that it’s a project: doesn’t know if it turns over, doesn’t know if it runs, hasn’t tried. At $750 that’s priced like the sitting-project bike it is. Limited photos so far too, more coming Tuesday per the listing.

Carbs, fuel system, brakes, tires, the usual “sat for 14 years” checklist. But OEM everything, clean title, and a fender crack as the only cosmetic flaw noted is a pretty clean slate to start from.
