CEA in Aix is less than OK.

The town is wonderful, centrally situated for every trip to Marseille or the coast. Very easy travel to Italy and Spain. Its a smaller town so life becomes a routine which is especially helpful for second language learners. Centre-ville is always flooded with tons of people and tourists. Watch out for other Americans (especially Californians).

It's a great program for internships and exposure to the international organizations headquartered in Geneva. The lax academic schedule and content really allowed me to get the work experience I wanted from my internship placement. Also, a Eurorail pass was part of the tuition so every Thursday - Sunday I travelled to a new country / city. The housing situation is awful but whatever, working and traveling for 4 months is a great bargain.

Also, be aware that BU has a similar program that costs $10,000 more -- a MUCH harder curriculum, limited travel opportunities and less time at the actual internship.

New Family

This program caught my attention because of the home stays and high level of cultural emersion. What I was not expecting is the new family I would have, both with my host family, and the other students. Still to this day three years after I still talk to my family and friends I made doing this program! I truly felt a part of the culture of Siena Italy.

My overall experience was beneficial and rich and I will remember it forever!

Sol is a really good program in my opinion. I studied in Granada, Spain for a semester spring 2012. You get to live with host families, which really immerses you into the culture. The excursions are super fun and the group was small, so we really got close. We travelled some in Spain, but not as much as other programs. I think this is good though because it gave us more freedom to pick where we wanted to travel within Europe. I definitely enjoyed my time with Sol!

Internship in Sevilla

I was an intern at Fundacion Triangulo, a non-profit organization that advocates for LGBT rights in Spain, for three months and had a pretty good experience with both the people there and at Adelante. It is a very independent program which is both good and bad, meaning once Adelante arranges an internship or study abroad for you they do not take great troubles to keep up, although they are certainly there in case problems emerge or you have questions. Nobody holds your hand though Mary Alice was my Adelante representative in Sevilla and she was an incredible resource, welcoming and knowledgeable. She has lived in Spain for a very long time and knows the ins and outs of spanish life and culture, and helped me get acclimated to a very different lifestyle. I was not expecting life to be all too different from my life at home and was in for a big surprise. Spanish culture is beautiful and at times strange to an outsider, but that is the fun of it I suppose! Sevilla is an extraordinary, graceful city with so many layers of history and so much to explore. I was lucky enough to be placed in a homestay with a girl who I grew to become good friends with! I would go again to Sevilla in a heartbeat, especially to see my friends at Fundacion Triangulo. I'm not sure how much the internship itself taught me versus experiencing life in Spain, but I certainly learned a lot and to me that is the most important aspect of any experience.
