Nokia Reveals All New Lumia 920

2012-09-05T22:32:00.000+05:30

After weeks and weeks of almost blind speculation, Nokia has finally taken the wraps off its Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 device, which will no doubt serve as the company’s flagship smartphone. With Microsoft allowing vendors to really push the hardware boundaries with Windows Phone 8, the Finnish outfit certainly hasn’t disappointed with the 920.

An upgrade of the critically-acclaimed Lumia 900, it features a beautiful 4.5-inch display, and although the design looks almost identical to that of its predecessor, that’s most definitely to the advantage of the consumers, for the previous offering was easily among the most aesthetically-pleasing on the market.

The display is something Nokia is really proud. It’s called PureMotion HD+ and its screen color and brightness will adjusts automatically, depending on the ambient light. If you’ve hoped for an AMOLED screen though, you’ll be disappointed.

Lumia 920 camera comes with the PureView branding, but it packs an 8 megapixel sensor at its heart. It offers a cool new image stabilization that Nokia calls "floating lens" and according to its manufacturer is more effective than the optical image stabilization on many dedicated digicams. Carl Zeiss optics, 1080p video recording and an LED flash complete the list of the camera features.

The rest of the specs include NFC and LTE connectivity, 32GB internal memory plus 7GB SkyDrive cloud storage and 1GB RAM. The Lumia 920 weighs 185 grams, supports only micro-SIM cards and lacks a memory expansion slot.

Nokia Lumia 920 runs on the latest Windows Phone 8 OS and will come with various new services such as Nokia City Lens refreshed Nokia Drive and Maps etc .

Rockstar Games Releases More Stunning Screenshots Of GTA V

2012-08-22T23:02:00.000+05:30

Grand Theft Auto has, for the past 15 or so years, been one of the most popular titles available on most platforms, and with GTA V beckoning, Rockstar is giving fans more to salivate over with some beautifully-realistic visuals.

It’s been quite a while since GTA users got their last fix, and the anticipation of Grand Theft Auto V is arguably unprecedented. If not, it’s certainly the most hyped since San Andreas, and although there’s still unfortunately no release date, Rockstar is doing a pretty good job of keeping the masses firmly captivated.

As you can see from the screens posted below – which is a follow-up of the screenshots Rockstar posted on Monday – a lot of time and effort is being done on making the title a jaw-dropping masterpiece, and we can only hope Rockstar follows up with another few screenshots (or even a trailer) in the near future:

Create An Free Apple ID Outside US Without Credit Card

2012-08-19T14:31:00.000+05:30

Some really good iOS apps – like Temple Run and Google Earth– are available as free downloads on the iTunes Apps store but with one condition – you need to have a US based Apple ID to install them on to your iPhone or iPad.

There’s however an easy workaround to the problem – just sign-out of your existing account, create another Apple ID and set ‘none’ as the payment method (assuming that you don’t have a U.S. based credit card). You’ll now be able to download US apps with the new Apple ID.

The ‘none’ payment option is not available in my iTunes:

When you are creating a new Apple ID for downloading U.S. specific apps, it may happen that the ‘none’ option is missing on your Payments screen (see the screenshot above). How do you then create an Apple ID without a credit card?

Well, there are two ways to create Apple IDs inside iTunes. You can either go to Store –> Create Account or simply download an app and iTunes will prompt you to create an Apple ID. The ‘none’ option for payment will only become available if you take the latter route.

To quickly recap, you need to follow these easy steps to create an Apple ID with a U.S. address but without requiring a credit card:

1. Launch iTunes and switch to the iTunes store. Make sure you are not logged in.

2. Scroll to the bottom and change your country to United States.

3. Next go to App store and download any of the free apps.

4. Download any app by clicking on the "Free" Button Under The App.

5. A New Window Will Pop Telling To Sign In and below that you will see an option to "Create An Account" Just Click On That .

6. Enter All Your Details And Click On Next !

4. Now You Will See An "None" Option Just Click On That And Enter All Your details.

Done ! Just Verify You Account And Start Downloading Apps ! Enjoy:)

Google Today Rolled Out A Big Update For It's Translate App For Android User's. The biggest Addition in the new version 2.5 is the ability to translate parts of images using your phone's rear-facing camera. This feature can be used by tapping the camera icon, tapping the screen to take a picture, then highlighting what you want to translate. It takes a little getting used to, but with a bit of practice it's pretty easy to tag certain sections for translation, which should be useful for signs and other short messages when traveling. Note, however, that you'll need at least Android 2.3 Gingerbread to use image translation.

Google Launches Enhanced Voice Search For Android Say's Soon For iOS

2012-08-09T11:57:00.002+05:30

Google's search app for iOS is about to become more Siri-like. The app, which already allows users to enter search terms via voice, will soon gain the ability to better understand your intent—that is, what you actually mean with all those extraneous words coming out of your mouth. Google announced on Wednesday that the feature will be available "soon" for iPhone and iPad and is available for Android devices.

Unlike a standard Google search—performed via thumbs or your voice—the ability to understand intent allows the app to better parse the kind of context that might apply to your search. This can include your location or the "type" of thing you're searching for. As noted by our friends at the Verge, the feature is "pretty much identical" to what's available in Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), though the results are presented differently in the iOS app than they are on Android.

Looks like Google is giving a tough competition to Apple .

Apple Seeds iOS 6 Beta 4 To Developers,Removes YouTube App Adds Bluetooth Sharing !

2012-08-07T18:19:00.000+05:30

Apple Seeds iOS 6 Beta 4 To Developers,Removes YouTube App Adds Bluetooth Sharing For The First Time !

Apple has seeded the fourth beta of its new iOS 6 software to developers this morning. The release comes just three weeks after the previous update.iOS 6 beta 4 is now available in the Apple Dev Center.

Changes In iOS 6 Beta 4 :

iOS 6 Beta 4 Removes Dedicated YouTube App:

Apple's new iOS 6 Beta 4 just released to developers removes the dedicated YouTube app that has been included on the iPhone operating system since its launch in 2007.

The Verge later reported that Apple has issued a statement acknowledging the removal of the YouTube App.

"Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store. "

The next big thing which was observed is Bluetooth Sharing :

The new Bluetooth Sharing menu, which appears in the Settings application under the Privacy pane, lists apps that have requested the ability to share data via Bluetooth.

We’re not exactly sure what this means just yet, but it could have something to do with the Bluetooth linking feature that iLounge mentioned in a report last week:

“Our source also claimed that Apple is working on an as-yet-undisclosed iOS 6 feature that will act as a bridge between its Bluetooth 4-capable devices.

The feature would enable, say, a future iPod nano to display iMessages received by an iPhone, record voice memos that could be shared via the iPhone, and even initiate phone calls through its own headphones.”

HTC To Launch 5-Inch Smartphone In September-October With 1080p Display

2012-08-06T18:17:00.000+05:30

HTC might launch a new smartphone In September-October according to DigiTimes . The rumoured device is said to have an 5-Inch display with a insane resolution of 1794 by 1080 pixels . Most high-end smartphones these days have a maximum of 720p resolution displays and even tablets don’t have a full 1080p HD display.

Having said that, a mysterious HTC device with 1794×1080 pixels resolution display had popped up on benchmarks a couple of weeks ago but it was thought to be a tablet. The mystery device ran on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon S4 SoC, clocked at 1.5GHz paired with an Adreno 320 graphics chip. This should be enough to power the crazy display and the HTC device could be one of the flagship Snapdragon S4 devices.

The report mentions it could be launched in September or October, though we are still not entirely convinced that it would be a smartphone. We are still placing our bets on a tablet as a 1920×1080 pixel 5-inch display would be an overkill.

Microsoft Surface Will Launch on October 26th With Windows 8

2012-07-30T18:20:00.000+05:30

Microsoft has confirmed that it is going to launch it's much awaited Surface tablet on October 26th and also added that Windows 8 will also be released on the same day.

"The next version of our operating system, Windows 8, will be generally available on October 26, 2012,” the company said in a statement filed with the SEC. “At that time, we will begin selling the Surface, a series of Microsoft-designed and manufactured hardware devices."

As CNET points out, however, Microsoft doesn’t appear very bullish about its next operating system. In the same document, the company had this to say:

[Window 8's] success depends on a number of factors including the extent to which customers embrace its new user interface and functionality, successfully coordinating with our OEM partners in releasing a variety of hardware devices that take advantage of its features, and attracting developers at scale to ensure a competitive array of quality applications. We expect to incur substantial marketing costs in launching Window 8 and associated services and devices, which may reduce our operating margins.

Microsoft still hasn’t revealed pricing for its Surface tablets, but a recent leak on a Swedish website suggested the less-powerful Windows RT tablet, which runs on an ARM processor, could cost as much as $1,000.
