Things Not Said can Kill the Building of Business Relationships!

To become a successful team leader in network marketing you are going to have to learn it is not so much about control but about servitude and building relationships. Your ability to serve is going to be based on how you develop and maintain relationships. One of the biggest killers of relationships is all the things that are on people’s mind but not said. This post will examine and expose this truth so you know how it works.

Landmark Taught Me..We Are Meaning Making Machines

One of the biggest turning points in my life was when I attended the Landmark forum followed by their advanced training. It opened my eyes to how not only people were programmed but also how I was programmed. In fact you can see my original videos I shot after these events here:

What these courses taught me was that we are meaning making machines…we make everything around us, everything that people do, mean something. We craft our own stories on why they did what they did and what it actually meant. God forbid we ask them, so, we make something up and then we prove how our story is right by piecing together the clues. Here’s the problem, the story we craft in our heads is rarely even remotely close to reality.

Distance and Time Makes Our Story Stronger

The more we avoid saying what needs to be said, the more it validates and we have time to piece together even more clues to ensure the story we crafted is true. You may have friends that stopped communicating with you for no apparent reason, most likely, they have created a story about something that happened between you and they are simply believing their own nonsense. This happens often in network marketing in so many areas such as:

- My upline never calls me, they must be too busy or just don’t care about me
- They didn’t recognize me at a meeting, they must not like me
- They didn’t answer the phone, they must have seen it was me and purposely not picked up

See how dangerous our thinking can be? Our mind does not allow for anything normal to be the reason for something, it naturally floats to the negative, only broadcasting our own worries and stresses about our own self worth.

How to Prevent a Crappy Life

The stress of carrying around stories in our head about people and situations can be very burdensome. It is also very stressful when you let these same stories keep you from your dreams! I wonder how many people have jumped from a network marketing company to another because of the things not said? I wonder how many networkers have crafted these negative stories in their head just to find out that after their very short period of excitement of being in a “new deal” they realize the same stories happen over there too! The constant..is your thinking!

Having the gumption to say the things that need to be said will serve you. This does NOT mean to be nasty to people or get angry with people but more ask clarifying questions to the people that are in your life. Instead of “knowing” or “assuming” you know the motives of other people, talk to them non-accusingly and ask questions. 9 times out of 10 you will find the story you created was much worse than reality AND you will solidify that relationship that much more by letting them know what was on your mind. Don’t assume, don’t craft a story, shine light where this is darkness by simply speaking up.

How to Run Profitable Online Webinars from the Comfort of Home

The best way to gain leverage and turn profits without leaving your home is to run online webinars. Webinars have added hoardes of people to my network marketing team, given me massive exposure to marketers all over the world and, of course, added a lot of money into my bank account. What is a Webinar?

A webinar is like a conference call but it always shows on your computer screen. Typically a presenter has a keynote or powerpoint they display to the attendees so they get audio and video. The most attended webinar I have ever done had 980 people from around the world in attendance. Webinars are a powerful way to get your message across with very, very little overhead.

How You Can Use Webinars

I have used webinars to build my network marketing team and also to sell training products. Running webinars for your MLM team is powerful as they can just invite people to watch you present. I don’t think it is a coincidence that I have ran more opportunity webinars than anyone else in my company and I am also the number one earner.

Marketing with Business Cards… a Network Marketing Tool?

I get this question a lot, as a network marketer, what type of business cards should I use? Or, should I even carry business cards? Well, I don’t agree with having the standard business card but I do believe there are ways to use them effectively, read on to see what I mean.

Why Most Business Cards Are a Waste of Money

There are a couple reasons why most business cards that MLM’ers carry are a waste of money.

1. Because they are not compelling and fit in with all the other business cards anyone has ever seen.

2. Because hardly anyone ever follows up.

You giving out business cards at meetings and hoping for someone to follow up with you is slightly less likely than winning on a scratch off lotto ticket. However, I have come up with a way to use business cards effectively…bribe them with something they actually want!

What to put on a MLM business card to increase its effectiveness

See this image? It is from a conversation I had with one of my leaders on the right type of business card. She recently attended a meetup full of small business owners and I suggested to make a network marketing business card that said: “Good for one free strategy session on how to get clients from Social Media”

So, instead of fitting in with everyone else, she was the buzz as it was different and what business owner doesn’t want to know how to get more clients with social media? Now, when these people follow up with her (which a small percentage will, hopefully she followed my advice and got their business card too), she will teach them a little bit about how to market on Facebook and then ask them if they would be open to a side project that didn’t interfere with what they are doing (our network marketing company). You like that?

Think Like a Marketer, Always

Marketing is not selling stuff, it is solving problems. Think about where you are going to network and what could possibly be the attendees biggest problems, and, work to solve them and show them you know more than them about solving problems. Most small business owners, in this meetup, are totally clueless about how to effectively use social media so this was a really easy one for her to do.

Highlights from the MLM Home Based Business Workshop

Yes, this is a cake =)

This past weekend I had my very first Home Based Business Mastermind. I limited the event to 100 people and they got intimate time with 4 of the top speakers in the world on building a home business as well as a special surprise speaker that really warmed the hearts of everyone. This blog gives you the highlights from this awesome event.

Who Spoke at This MLM Mastermind?

We had the great Diane Hochman who spoke on story telling, attraction marketing and how to get people to want to work with you. Todd “Boom Boom” Falcone spoke on prospecting professionals into your organization and what was cool is there were several realtors in the room that actually liked what he was suggesting. We also had Noah St John, the guru of teaching people how to get unstuck and Jerry Clark with his million dollar laugh sharing the success triangle. My surprise speaker was a young man named Matt Milligan who has a really amazing story, I filmed his part of the show and you can watch it here – Matt Milligan Story.

Was This Just Another MLM Event?

Speaker Dinner

As I told the crowd on Sunday, my goal was NOT to grow this into the biggest event, but, into a very intimate and different event. Each speaker had 3 hours to share with the crowd, with plenty of interaction and question and answer. Then, we topped it off with a kick butt VIP party at my house that ended up with pool volleyball with some of the speakers at 1am, lol, it was a lot of fun and Falcone and I beat the other team by 26-8 I think.

I have never heard such great testimonies about an event and I heard over and over how much people got out of it and I am planning another one in May that will be announced shortly. For now, you can check out the video highlight reel!

How to Handle Negative People & Network Marketing

Remind You Of Anyone Around You? =)

This past weekend I ran a Home Based Business Mastermind where people from all over the world came to my neck of the woods (Fort Myers, Florida) to learn how to make money from home in network marketing. The student that came the farthest came all the way from Switzerland (wow). However, I have already talked to a few attendees that brought their excitement home and received negative responses to their excitement. This post and video will share with  you how to handle that anytime you run into that issue that so many network marketers face.

I Can’t Believe my Dog ate my Hamburger!

Being upset at people for being negative is like being upset at your dog for eating a bacon cheeseburger that you left on the floor. You cannot change other people you can only change yourself and change those who are willing. If you get upset because someone that has always been negative is consistently negative, well, that makes you the idiot (sorry for the bad news but there is hope)

Don’t kick a dog for being a dog. Don’t be upset at people that are not happy for your eagerness or excitement. Here is what I can guarantee, if you allow negative people to put your energy down, you will have that much more struggle to reach success. When you free yourself from being addicted to THEIR reaction to how you are thinking or feeling, you will, in most situations, be let down. Instead, focus on accepting they are not as excited as you and constantly look to surround yourself with people that WILL be happy for your success and excitement and actually WANT you to succeed!

Which Internet Marketing Event I am Planning to Attend!

I spend a lot of money on improving myself and my marketing game. In the last 12 months I have spent more on marketing coaching than I MADE in the entire year of 2009. There is an event coming up that I am attending that I paid thousands for that you might consider if you are serious about your marketing game.

When Can You Stop Investing in Yourself?

My answer to that question…when you die! You are always either growing or dying and I want to always be growing! Constantly working on your mindset, marketing and yourself is the ONLY way to ensure long term success. That does not mean to buy everything out there but to selectively choose events to attend and products that will bring you closer to your goals, and, the cool thing is, it’s actually fun to spend money on cool events where you will meet new people and learn new things.

If you don’t know Daegen, he is a traffic ninja that taught all the guys that teach traffic now (including guys like Jonathan Budd). How I First Ran Across Yanik Silver

It was 2009 and real estate had completely crushed me. I have a total of 8, yes, 8, foreclosures coming at me and I was depressed, feeling worthless and seriously questioning what the hell was wrong with me. My girlfriend Jess was working at Nordstroms at the makeup counter to pay my utility bills and I really didn’t know what I was going to do.

A friend of mine introduced me to a network marketing company and things started turning around. I was hammering away at my warm market and doing a lot of offline work to find prospects and it was going fairly well. Then, a friend of mine who had been in a past network marketing company called me, said he was moving and was getting rid of some of his marketing books and DVD’s and wanted to know if I wanted them, I told him I would take a look.

Turns out he had bought several products from Yanik but had actually never even opened them! Have you ever done that? OK, I admit I have. So I took all the Yanik stuff he had and dove in. What happened over the next 3 months is we got more Internet marketers into our company than any other company out there! My business exploded and just a few months later had my first $40,000 month in my primary company but what really mattered is that I changed the way I thought about marketing and that has forever changed my income, way of life and of course my results.

Achieving Network Marketing Success… What Will You Give Up?

This is something that most people desiring MLM success do not grasp onto..to achieve network marketing success you have to be willing to give up something in trade. There is no such thing as “something for nothing”. This post will help identify things you can give up to trade for success in network marketing.

You Can Get Anything You Want if You Are Willing to Change

When you are setting your goals, you have to also consider what you are willing to offer up in exchange for achieving that goal. Here are some possible places in your life that changing could help you get closer to your goals:

- Cutting down on your TV
- Working out more
- Eating healthier
- Spending more time training your mind
- Purposefully changing who you hang around with

Where I see people struggle is when they want something but literally do not change anything in their life to accomplish it. Here is the reality, when I started on my path to become the number one income earner in my network marketing company, I had to totally change my daily routine, who I hung out with, how many football games I watched and greatly increase how much time I spent working on mindset training. It was not easy to stop hanging out with certain friends that I had grown used to hanging out with often but, that was part of the exchange.

Exercise: Defining Exactly the MLM Success Trade-Off

Take a look at your daily and weekly schedule right now. You may get benefit from drawing out a diagram of your Monday to Sunday and then filling in what you are typically doing during those days.

If you work fulltime, block out the working times on the sheet of paper as that (at least for now) may not be able to be changed. However, leave open any breaks including your lunch break. So the diagram would have holes where you have breaks and before you get to work and after work. Now, make a copy of this and write on one what you typically do. It may include things like:

- Watch American Idol, or whatever TV shows
- Listen to Howard Stern (on your commute)
- Hang with the boys and watch baseball
- Etc, you get the point

Now, on the second sheet, decide which of those activities you will stop doing in exchange to earn your MLM success. It may have you listening to audio books instead of the radio, watching webinars instead of TV, making prospecting calls instead of drinking with the boys/girls.

I am not suggesting to cut out all fun or ignore your kids. However, trim the fat. Most people, even when they work fulltime, have comfy schedules that could be leaned down to fit in mindset training and profit producing activities. Here’s the reality, if you do this exercise, you can look at all the holes and grip that those holes are times where you are LOSING money and momentum unless you change them. Now, go out there and make that killer schedule to rock your business!

Phone Skills Training for MLM Prospects

Last night I did a training in Tampa for my primary company on how to talk to MLM prospects on the phone. Talking on the phone is the number one income producing skill you can develop. In this post I break down what I talked about and you can also watch the recording.

99% of my MLM Signups Have Involved Phone Skills

As you may be aware, I do a lot of Internet and Attraction marketing. Does that mean I do not use the phone? Quite the contrary, 99% of all of my signups into my network marketing company have involved getting them on the phone. I would go so far to say that you can build a network marketing business online or offline, you just cannot build something sustainable without the phone.

There are multiple elements to phone prospecting that I see network marketers screw up. This includes introduction calls, follow ups, voicemails amongst many other areas. Below I break them down for you so that you get better on the phone and quickly into profit.

The Rules of Mastering MLM Prospecting Through the Phone

Rule 1: Always have posture. Someone asked me today what I do with prospects that hate network marketing. My answer was I disqualify them from using my time. That is posture. Someone has to prove to me that they are worthy of my time and they want to change their life, I do NOT try to sign up every Joe I ever run into. That is a little sleazy to me and there are negative people out there in the world that I do NOT want to spend time training.

Rule 2: Call your warm market. Making the introduction call sucks, 100% of people dislike it, 10% will do it anyway. I am one of the 10%. I hated making the calls to the same people I had pitched 11 other MLM’s but I did it anyway and some of them joined. In fact, 2 years later, some of them were on the incentive cruise we went on a couple weeks ago, thank goodness I called them.

Rule 3: Always followup as they never will. I don’t care how much your MLM prospect wants income or even likes your product, don’t EVER rely on them to follow up with you, it just won’t happen.

Rule 4: Leave a proper voicemail. The purpose of a voicemail is to get a call back, not a signup. If you mention the word opportunity on a voicemail, just plan on being on probation with that person for at least 6 months. They will not return your calls and will hide from you in grocery stores. If you dare mention the compensation plan, this could go as high as 12 months probation.

Rule 5: Get over being offended. You are going to get rejection. It is impossible to get to the top without it. Get over it. You are going to have people that NEED what you have that will still say no. Then, the ones that DO say yes, that have all the potential (hate that word) won’t do a darn thing for themselves. Don’t let this dissuade you and your dreams. If you are struggling with this, see rule #1.

Attraction Marketing System Users..Wimps?

Attraction marketing has completely changed the network marketing industry. It has taught us marketers to create value for the marketplace to get people to want to work closer with us. But..has attraction marketing made us a bunch of wimps? Read on to hear what I mean

What We have learned from Attraction Marketing

Attraction marketing taught us that people don’t want to be hit over the head with an opportunity, they would prefer to be taught something of value, such as training on marketing or sales. It taught us that we don’t have to be sleazy with blast emailing people out opportunity links and hype but instead wanted to be treated with dignity and have their problems solved.

Now, not everyone has learned the attraction marketing formula. I still to this date get emails, facebook messages and in fact there are two or three people that everyday just reply to my emails with their company link, lol, it’s horrendous. For kicks I sometimes ask them how that type of marketing is working and if they are being honest, they know it is not. Attraction marketing is a great thing if learned, in fact, I am going to do an attraction marketing bootcamp soon (stay tuned).

Attraction Marketing Has Tamed a lot of Would be Top MLM Earners

I have seen some great marketers err on the side of being too much of an attraction marketer and lose sight of the whole reason they wanted to do attraction marketing. While some marketers have blogged training and value I have done the same but at the same time built a $40,000-$50,000 a month residual income in my primary network marketing company. Here I thought that was the point of doing attraction marketing in the first place?

In a colossal overcompensation effort, a lot of attraction marketers have grown accustomed to NOT pitching their network marketing company because it is simply easier to sell training. The problem is that selling training and doing affiliate launches is a J-O-B. They rarely create the residual income that we got into this industry for. People that are good attraction marketers but barely make anything from a network marketing company will say things like this:

- I don’t wanna be totally associated with one company.

- I don’t wanna be too pitchy.

- I don’t wanna turn off my followers or list.

Only in network marketing can we let a marketing concept veer us totally off track of what we really want! I don’t believe anyone gets into this industry to have a sales job, no, we get into this industry to create the type of freedom inducing residual income that is not possible in most sales jobs or any jobs for that matter. The attraction marketers that get this, go on to build a serious business while still exercising providing value for the marketplace.

The Attraction Marketing De-Wimping Formula

Pick a day this week and blog, shoot a video or write an article about why you joined your primary company. Say all the reasons why it is a great company. Suggest people join you and give them reasons to do so. Then, at least 1-2 times a month, repeat this process. Your list is not going to leave you and hate your guts. Your facebook friends are not going to disown you. Your twitter followers are not going to gasp in shock at how rude you are to dare ask for people to join your team. What will actually start to happen, over time, and for some of you immediately, is you will actually start to get people wanting to know more about your business and your team. Stop being afraid and wimpy when it comes to letting people know what company you think is the greatest, it is the ONLY way you will ever build a serious network marketing income.
