It has been a pleasure spreading that Lithuanian Spirit - Lietuvybe to those of Lithuanian descent who otherwise would not have had this exposure. A spark was lit to spur an interest that many thirsted for.

And, also sharing with those who have an interest in Lithuania and Lithuanian Friends.

The website will be closing.
The blogspot may have additional post in the future.

The Armed anti-Soviet resistance in Lithuania 1944 to 1953.
Few know that there was such a war, a War waged against the Super Power. The biggest such armed resistance in Europe after WW II - and few knew.

February 16, 1918 Lithuania regained its independence only to lose it to the Soviets in 1944. A bitter war was fought against the Soviets 1944 to 1953 - Lithuania re established its Independence once again in 1991. The first Soviet Republic to walk out as the USSR began to crumbled.

Heart attack took the life of Vytautas Katilius on Friday August 1, 2011 in Chicago (USA).
Vytautas Katilius, Siauliai Lithuania, was the legendary leader of the group "Vairas" from 1982 -to 1991.
Last year Katilius mentioned his fiftieth anniversary. The last fifteen years he lived in the U.S., in Chicago.
Group "Vairas" vocalist Rolandas Janusas and current leader of the group, received news of the death of his colleague Saturday night, as the group returned from the Klaipeda Sea Festival concerts. The festivities also featured V. Katilius creative songs. Songs still being sung, "I was born in the same time," "Brothers".

R. Janusas last saw his colleague in June, when the group "Vairas" toured in Chicago.

Vairas also performed in the Worcester, Massachusetts area in early June 2011.

"He had no complaints about his health," - said Mr Janusas, graduate guitar studies at the United States. V. Katilius planned to return to Lithuania in December

The group "Vairas's" loss - was not the first. A few years ago eternal rest took former vocalist Vilius Davolio.

Death also took the group leader vocalist Edmond Čirvinsko,a year prior.

This is a very frightening and non partisan video produced by an accountant, Hal Mason, retired after 27 years with IBM. He looks at the budget, its revenues and expenses and very simply illustrates the problem. Amazingly, some refuse to see it or deal with it.
