Everyone talks about legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger.

But nobody talks about his mentor Jack Lalanne who redefined fitness forever.

After 80 years of coaching he said “Then I was a crackpot, today I am an authority…”

Here’s his philosophy:

Jack LaLanne was probably the first true superhero of the fitness world.Famous for saying “I wake up every morning with an erection a cat can’t scratch,” and his seven word philosophy on nutrition – If man made it, don’t eat it.

And this…

“Look at my corvette,” he told Joe Kita in an interview. “A ’98 – one of the finest sports cars I’ve ever had. Would I put water in the gas tank? Well, think about the crap people put in their bodies – white flour, sugar, all this processed food. It’s just like using water for fuel.

Jack LaLanne was often called the “Godfather of Fitness.” Not only was he a physical instructor, a bodybuilder, and a proficient gymnast, but he also owned the LaLanne Physical Culture Studio in Oakland, California.

Initially Jack was a vegetarian but eventually realized that increasing his meat intake helped develop musculature, while decreasing carbohydrates was also beneficial.

Not only was he a bodybuilder, strongman, and physical instructor, but he also toured doing hand-balancing acts.

The Jack LaLanne Show became famous, and you can still find videos of it on YouTube. Through this show and the strength feats he performed throughout his life – he was a tireless promoter of fitness and bodybuilding until he passed away at the age of 96. But now his legend continues to teach and inspire.

Jack LaLanne was also an inventor of gym equipment and owned countless gyms. He was a man of firsts in the fitness world and he also walked the walk.

Jack LaLanne’s measurements were:

Height: 5’7”

Weight: 175 pounds of pure muscle.

Neck 17.5 inches

Waist 28 inches

Thighs 23.5 inches

Arms 17 inches

Chest 48.5 inches

Hips 35.5 inches

Calves 15 inches

Jack’s incredible routine in January 1949 was jaw-dropping.

For Shoulders: At home, he did handstand push-ups—six sets of 20 reps. Presses behind the neck ranged from 100 to 170 pounds for 10 reps per set. Then came military dumbbell presses with 75-pound dumbbells—two sets of 15 reps.Front and side dumbbell raises with 30 pounds followed—two sets of 20 reps.

For Back: Bent-over rows with 100-pound dumbbells (45 kilos each!)—four sets of 10 reps. Front lever pull-up 10 reps. He followed that with chin-ups with 90 pounds strapped to his waist for four sets of 10 reps. Then did pull-downs on the lat pulley machine with 80 pounds—three sets of 10 reps.

And then transitioned to chest: with stiff-arm pullovers with 30 pounds—three sets of 20 reps. Next were incline presses with 90-pound dumbbells—three sets of 10 reps. Push-ups on the parallel bars—three sets of 50 reps.

For Biceps: Incline curls with 50-pound dumbbells—four sets of 10 reps. Barbell curls with 100 pounds—three sets of 15 reps.

Legs Hindu jumps—three sets of 40 reps.

Abdominals: Roman chair sit-ups—two sets of 40.

Shoulders, Traps and Neck: Dumbbell cleans with 100 pounds in each hand—three sets of 10 reps and then neck resistance exercises.

That’s a high volume, high conditioning old-school workout that would crush most “fit” people.

“What Lalanne understood, what he espoused, and what he embodied, was the doctrine of pure, hard work. He wouldn’t let you say that it was your job’s fault you are fat, or society’s, or your thyroid’s – and even if it was, it was your job to right the ship.

And in America, where all the rough edges must be ground down so no one’s fragile feelings get hurt, he was an old school reminder that hard work pays off, and that you’re responsible for how you look and how you feel.” BY STEVE JANOSKI

I’ve leave you with this one last Jack Lalanne quote that hits hard – “Every morning when we open our eyes, we wake up, we have a battle on our hands. Either you’re gonna’ win the battle that day or you’re gonna’ lose it, you’re gonna’ have life working for you, or you’re gonna’ be working for life. What’s it gonna’ be?”

Here’s the result of a deep dive I did into how to increase your testosterone naturally and why you should. The information is from many sources but mostly a podcast done by Andrew Huberman.

First, Why You Want Good Testosterone Levels.

There’s a very interesting relationship between testosterone and dopamine. Dopamine and testosterone are closely related in the pituitary system. Testosterone comes from the adrenals and the testes, but the major effect of testosterone is to make effort feel good. That’s what testosterone does. It has other effects too—reproductive effects, androgenized parts of the body, etc.—but it primarily makes effort feel good.

The testosterone molecule is synthesized from cholesterol. Cholesterol can either be made into cortisol, a stress hormone, or testosterone, but not both. So, you have a limited amount of cholesterol, and it gets diverted towards stress or the pathway where effort feels good. That’s the pathway you want to get into, not the anger pathway. If we were to play a mind experiment here, anger eventually diverts more cholesterol to cortisol and stress, slowly depleting testosterone. Initially, you’ll have plenty of testosterone, but after a couple of days, studies show that testosterone doesn’t necessarily drop with sleep deprivation, which is a bit of a myth. You do need sleep to replenish testosterone eventually, but the real question is: are you enjoying what you’re doing?

If you can convince yourself to enjoy the process, you’ll maintain or even increase testosterone levels, which makes effort feel good. To me, that’s the Holy Grail. When effort feels good, life gets much better, and I’m not talking about achieving the reward, but the process itself feeling good. These molecules are linked to the will to live in an ancient way, across all organisms, including mammals. They are connected to effort and making effort feel good, which has been fundamental to our evolution.

People often think that the opposite of testosterone is estrogen, but it’s not. The opposite of testosterone is prolactin, which makes us feel quiescent, not in pursuit of things. Testosterone makes effort feel good, while estrogen makes emotions feel okay. It’s also true that increases in testosterone promote competitive and foraging behaviors in humans and non-human mammals. Competitive environments themselves can increase testosterone.

The question often arises: does sex itself promote testosterone? The answer is nuanced. The short version is yes, but there are stages of sex—seeking sex, the physical act, and then orgasm and ejaculation. Whether or not sex increases testosterone depends on ejaculation. Studies show that observing sex, such as watching pornography, results in a modest 10% increase in testosterone, while participating in sex results in a 70% increase. There are significant increases in testosterone during the physical act of sex, far less during observation.

Ejaculation itself does not reduce testosterone levels. However, abstinence from ejaculation for a week or more can increase testosterone levels up to 400%. So, sex increases testosterone, but abstinence can increase it even more. This is the nuanced understanding of how certain behaviors impact hormones and how hormones impact those behaviors.

We all know the importance of proper sleep for overall health. Getting proper sleep offsets reductions in testosterone, estrogen, and fertility that occur with sleep deprivation. However, how sleep affects testosterone and estrogen is related to breathing. Unless you’re working out hard, eating, or speaking, you should be breathing through your nose. During sleep, nose breathing increases oxygen intake and reduces the buildup of carbon dioxide, which would otherwise increase cortisol and reduce testosterone and estrogen levels in both sexes.

One key aspect of hormone optimization is light exposure. Viewing bright light within the first hour of waking, from either sunlight or artificial light, has powerful effects on sleep and wakefulness. It’s crucial to avoid bright light exposure in the middle of the night because it suppresses dopamine and testosterone levels. Heavy weight training, particularly working at 70% to 95% of your maximum without reaching failure, leads to significant increases in testosterone.

Now, let’s discuss specific compounds that can optimize sex hormones. Some, like vitamin D, zinc, magnesium, and creatine, are well-known. Creatine may increase five-alpha reductase or make the testosterone molecule more susceptible to certain enzymatic reactions, leading to increases in dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT plays a role in masculinizing the brain prenatally, penis growth, beard growth, and even balding. It has a much higher affinity for androgen receptors than testosterone.

Other compounds, like tongkat ali and a Nigerian shrub called Fadogia agrestis, can boost testosterone. Tongkat ali can give a 100 to 200-point increase in testosterone, while Fadogia, usually taken at about 600 mg, can result in a 300 to 400-point increase.

I Will Continually Add To This Resource On How To Increase Testosterone Naturally

As I learn new information on raising testosterone levels I will update this page with edits.

If you want sixpack abs, here’s how to get them…

Let’s just jump right in. I’m Ray. Here we go…

A question I run into a lot from personal training clients is “What diet and exercises are the best for me to do so I can see my abs?”

For some reason there is a misconception that there is something special that you do different from regular training in order to get a six-pack.

The truth of the matter is that developing a six pack comes back to the same information that we have heard before. You need to train your whole body, and eat properly in order to reduce your body fat so that your abdominals become visible.

It’s just not possible to wake up one day and decide that you would like to have a lean, fat free stomach and that you can achieve this through some quick “plan” that will zero in on your stomach to the exclusion of the rest of your body.

You can have the main goal of seeing a massive change to your six-pack, but if you take the correct actions to attain a six-pack in the fastest manner possible, you MUST see fat loss changes in your whole body.

What I am saying is that even though it may seem indirect, you will see greater visual changes to your abs in a shorter period of time from doing three whole-body workouts a week, some cardio, and eating high protein than you ever will from the best ab gadgets and fat-burning pills out there.

Let’s just say for the sake of argument that some of these ab machines work excellent for stimulating the abdominals. They still don’t do anything to remove the layer of fat that is covering them and making them impossible to see.

In order to remove that layer of fat, you need to burn off calories and you also need a way to keep that layer from coming back. This brings me to the fat burning pills.

First let me say that fat burners are a joke and that you can get the same effect from drinking coffee and green tea. That effect is a temporary high in energy and kick in the pants to your nervous system.

You MAY burn slightly more calories because of your heightened energy levels but when you crash down and need a nap, you’re not burning very many calories then are you?

Let’s just say that there was a fat burner that could be the answer to all your prayers and that just by taking it would give you a six pack in a couple of weeks. What happens once you have that six pack? You’d need to keep taking and paying for those pills in order keep what you have. In other words, you’d be an addict with no spare cash. That’s assuming that fat burners did work, which they don’t. There was a time when some of them did, but these days the ingredients that make them work are now illegal without prescription.

Remember, the quickest route to a fat free, flat stomach is getting rid of excess body fat. You’re abs are already there! Reach down and touch your stomach. Dig deep into any cushioning you have there and you will feel lumps! Those are your abs. If you take away the cushioning, you will see them.

If you want to see a six pack in the shortest possible time, get working on a full body resistance training program that includes some abdominal work and cardio work. Start eating the right foods. Foods that will fire up your metabolism and give you more energy. Combine these factors for a couple of weeks and you will see more results in a couple of weeks then any ab gadget or fat burning pill could ever give you.

I wrote down my entire 1-month training program I used to drop 15 pounds and get a 6 pack at 49 years old.

If you want it, you can get it here for free: https://raymondburton.com/how-to-lose-belly-fat-fast-for-men/

Life is a delicate balance of give and take. Our inner desires often clash with external expectations.

It could be the need to please others, manage stress, or simply seek sunlight.

But our journey is filled with challenges that test our sanity and resilience.

You don’t need to please everyone.

You need to set boundaries.

You don’t need less stress.

You need to handle it better.

You don’t need to fit in.

You need to embrace your unique insanity.

People pleasers often find themselves trapped in a cycle of giving, where their genuine desire to help gets manipulated by those with selfish intentions. This imbalance leads to a slow erosion of morale, turning their generous hearts into resentful ones.

And that’s when the stress starts creeping in. It arrives somewhere between living the life we want and feeling the pressure to do what is expected. The goal isn’t to eliminate it but to change our relationship with it. When we learn to manage our fears of rejection and our responses to it, stress transforms from a burden into a challenge we can handle with confidence.

And we realize there is nothing to be rejected from. We are good enough as we are.

Yes, the world often feels upside down, and maintaining sanity requires a touch of insanity. Sometimes, we must dare to think differently to hold on to our true selves, even as the rest of the world loses its mind.

Life is complex. Managing stress and balancing desires takes a blend of wisdom and courage.

But our uniqueness while standing firm in our convictions gives us strength amid a chaos of uncertainty that continues to grow.

No matter the challenges we face — we connect together and evolve.

This is the game.

Here’s my take on the easiest thing to create and sell online. It’s a whole lot less work for way more money then what you are usually told.

I’m not going to try and hook you into this article.

I’m not going to drag this out to get a 65% + read ratio.

I’m just going to tell you the answer to the headline.

The easiest thing to create and sell online is a consultation call.

But that’s not the end of the story or the money…

Here is how you:

Get an audience for it

Set it up

Make money off it

And then make money off it again.

Here we go…

How to get an audience for your consult calls.

First thing is the most obvious thing. You create as much content as your schedule allows and you put a CTA to your newsletter in each piece of content. Then, at the bottom of each email you send out is a link to claim a free consult.

Yes, free for now.

Medium is a great place to post your content if you want to gain new subscribers to your newsletter for free. However, for speed, you have to pay for attention.

If you are really brave, you can include a link to reserve a free call at the end of your articles, as I did below.

Be prepared to edit out the free call option later because if the article takes off, you may get blasted with sign-ups. Mixed blessings, right?

You’re ready to charge money after a couple of free calls to test your system and social interaction skills.

How To Set Up Consult Calls

I use Calendly and Zoom. They have free and paid versions. You can use the free version to get your feet wet. The automation is worth it later so you can hand off the admin work.

Why this works: Calendly will show your availability for calls to the client. The client can pick the time slot they want out of the available hours. Integrations allow this to be booked into your Outlook calendar to remind you of what’s coming up.

You will also get the time adjusted for both parties, so there is no time zone confusion.

Zoom works great for me because I get a video recording that I later use:

On Youtube.

To create products

For testimonials

To transcribe for many reasons.

How you earn money twice off this.

Above, I said you could transcribe the video. Congrats. Now, with a bit of editing on that transcription, you have an e-book—a highly focused, problem-solving e-book.

You just made money on the call directly. You will also make money selling the e-book or course you create from the transcription. Books are cheap for the customer but don’t earn you much.

But….

Books are a great way of building trust with your new customers. They pay a little money and get great info. After that, they are willing to trust paying you even more for better stuff.

Low risk for them with a high reward.

I’ve always fancied myself a bit of a lone wolf. I thought being on my own made me strong. I’d spend my days coding away in my home office, just me and my computer. No parties, no meetups. I figured they were a waste of time. Until a rough patch led me to the term “Social Capital.”

I had my skills, my projects, and my freedom. What more did I need? Turns out, being a lone wolf isn’t always the best hunting strategy when you’re trying to catch opportunities.

Eventually, I noticed other folks—some who weren’t even that great at coding—landing better gigs and projects. They had something I didn’t: connections. Success books call it Social Capital. I had to look it up.

It made me think that maybe, just maybe, being alone wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

So, I decided to give this whole “networking” thing a shot. I went to a local tech meetup here in Calgary. Walking into that room felt weird, like I was the dumbest guy in the room. I didn’t know anyone and felt out of place. But I stuck around. I introduced myself to some people, talked about what each other was doing, and it was awkward.

But by the end of the night, I had exchanged numbers with a few people and made some new possible friends. A small step, but a really big deal for a guy like me.

I’ve started hanging out with more people in person now and joined a couple of online groups related to what I do. It’s a whole new world outside my coding mancave. And I’ve learned a lot from others and even collaborated on some side projects.

As time goes on, I’m making more friends. I’m also starting to understand that having connections isn’t just about getting jobs. Its about sharing ideas and helping each other. It makes me feel happier and more confident. Team work really can make the dreams work.

Just this week I realized I’m not that lone wolf anymore. And while being independent is good, having friends and connections on top of it is even better.

The biggest takeaway from all this is that sometimes, you have to let others in to find your way. And I’m glad I am.

6 min read

I’ll cut to the chase. The shortcut is using these seven headlines that really work.

Do you know the REAL purpose of your article’s headline?

Of course you do. It’s to get the article read. But then, why doesn’t anyone click on and read your articles?

Here’s the answer. Better headlines. And I have seven of them for you, and why they actually work.

All we need to do is get your reader to click on that article and then for you to deliver on what you promised with your stellar writing skills.

Ready to do this?

Let’s go.

First up is the “How to Survive (thing)” headline.
I first saw this when another fitness newsletter used it like this:

“How To Survive Christmas This Year Without Getting Fat.”

It works because:

1) You’re saving your reader the pain that awaits on the other side of what they need to survive.

2) People really want to avoid pain.

Getting what we want is always excellent. So a headline that promises to get us out of, or away from pain is aces.

Now we dip into more pain avoidance with headline #2
“The Biggest Mistake (people) Make.”

This headline is all about what your readers want to avoid at all costs, on the way to obtaining their true desire.

Now think about this very carefully.

“The Biggest Mistake (people) Make”

This works because you identify the group you are talking to, then you tell them the BIGGEST mistake people like them make.

Not just any old mistake or a group of mistakes, but the BIGGEST MISTAKE.

“Well, what is it?” They ask. They need to know!

Here’s an easy one from my fitness newsletter emails.

“The Biggest Mistake Vegan Dieters Make”

Headline template number three is the REAL Secret
“The Real Secret to (getting the goods)”

Heck, even reading the template, I want to know what I have the secret to!

The secret headline, gets me even without a subject, just because of curiosity.

And very often, when we’re not getting a certain result, we think there is something we don’t know about, thats keeping us from attaining our goal.

It must be some little-known fact or tool or hack.

Whatever it is, if we knew it, we’d succeed.

So using the word ‘Secret’ is powerful, but it’s losing some steam lately because so many people use it. So tweak it a little for the best results.

How you do this is to separate YOUR secret from all the other secrets. Make yours the REAL secret. And you do this by using just one word; real.

So whatever it is that you are talking about, it’s the REAL secret. That pushes you to the top.

You can even throw a little more fuel on the fire by adding, “…that no one talks about.”

Here’s another fitness example. “The real secret to gaining muscle that no one talks about.”

Well, even I want to know what that is.

The only catch with using this headline is that you better bring the goods with your article or information, or the reader will feel ripped off.

Headline #4 Is A Popular One, And The Fastest Way To Get Readers
“The Fastest Way to (do the thing)”

The reason this headline works is because, well, who wants to do anything slow? Everyone wants to know the fastest, most efficient way to get something done. Especially if it’s something they don’t enjoy doing, but have to accomplish.

Again, the catch is delivering on your promise, or you’ll piss the reader off. If you have a headline that says, “The Fastest Way To Burn Fat,” and then you just say, “Eat Clean.”

You might get a virtual punch in the face for that one. “Thanks for wasting my time, asshole,” is what your reader is thinking.

You also don’t want to seem too outlandish with this. “The Fastest Way To Burn Fat” is a reasonable claim. “The Fastest Way To Burn 30 Pounds Of Fat In 24 Hours” smells of a scam.

Nobody will even click on your article headline if they think it’s fishy clickbait.

Undersell the promise if you want to gain trust and get them to read your article.

Make a reasonable claim that makes sense. You can do this by adding the world ‘Safely” or using a number less than most other claims. Everyone seems to “Help You Lose 30lbs in 30 Days.” So if you offer “The Fastest Way To Lose 5lbs in 15 Days Safely,” that might be a winner.

I don’t know, I’d have to test it.

But believability is the goal. You want to pique interest, and you want the person to believe they can find the answers in your article.

Headline Number Five Is A Shortcut To Writing Wicked Headlines
“Here’s a Shortcut for (that amazing thing)”

Yet another headline that falls into the quick and easy category.

The key with this one is giving a quick win to justify the statement. So something like, “Here’s a Shortcut For Making Healthy Snacks.” Then you tell them about something they can buy pre-made instead of making it by hand. Something like that.

It’s a real shortcut. A hack or quick tip that delivers a win.

If you’re selling something that provides this to your customer, then you have an easy sale on your hands.

It makes me think of bottled protein shakes. They’re a “Shortcut to post-workout muscle gains.”

Headline Number Six Is How You –
“How I (Get The Thing!)”

This headline works best when you have a relationship with your readers. If I had 10,000 followers here on Medium and they knew me for fitness advice, this headline would be a hit.

I’d write something like, “How I Achieved My First Pistol Squat In 60 Days.”

It’s a hyper-specific headline, and if you are into that topic, you’d have a hard time not clicking it.

You know me and trust I can deliver on that topic. So you want my insights and experience. It’s the implied shortcut that gets you to your goal in the fastest way.

If you like to tell stories in your writing, this is a great headline to start using if your audience knows you. They know you’ve had challenges, and obstacles, and you’re about to share how you overcame them.

This saves them pain.

It is a great way to build trust and friendship with your readers.

Seriously, about your headlines — Headline Number Seven:
“About Your (Really Important Thing)”

Well, that grabs your attention, doesn’t it? I mean, what about my…?

Is something wrong? Am I doing something wrong?

It’s so emotionally driven at a primitive level. It’s almost wrong to use.

Think about your life’s most important people, problems, diseases or material possessions. Now imagine you get an email or see an article that says, “About your…”

Again, if your audience knows you, then you can tweak it a bit more. This headline works even as a hook on a Twitter thread because your followers know you.

Just add, “I have a question.”

“I Have a Question About Your (personal thing). “

I’d use it something like this:

“I have a question about your daily workout.”

It’s not a sensational hook/headline, but it’s to the point and mid-level effective towards anyone fitness-minded.

That’s it for now. Try these headlines out on your next writing piece. At the very least, they will get you started toward getting more eyeballs on your articles.

Lastly…
You made it this far, subscribe below for a heads-up when I publish next.

Writing a sales letter is quick and easy when you use these 3 simple basic steps I’m about to show you.

I use a simple plan that goes like this…

I tell people:

What I have

What’s in it for them

And where to get it.

Here’s how I do it and some tips to help you write your own.

Tell Them What You Have – First, tell the reader what you are selling. Be clear and simple.

Start with a strong title. It should say what you have. For example, “Get the Best Book On Writing For Medium.”

Then highlight the main things your product has. Use bullet points. For example:

This book shows you how I:

Write my articles

Grew my account

Reuse my Medium content to book coaching calls.

Use words that show you are excited. Make the reader feel happy too.

2. What’s In It For Them

The next step depends on the length of the sales message and where you are using it. For a short email, the bullets are often enough. If you are writing a full sales letter, then tell them more about why your product is good for them. Show how it helps them.

Talk About Their Problems: Think about what problems they have. Show how your product fixes these problems.

Highlight the Good Things: Explain how your product makes their life better. Use examples. For example:

“You don’t yet have a large following or an email list but I’ll show you how to get one.”
“I got you covered if you prefer to spend more time writing and less time hustling for visibility through engagement.”

Give them a reason to buy it now by using limited-time offers. For example, “Order today and get 75% off!”

3. Where to Get It

Finally, tell them how to buy your product. Make it easy.

Include a strong call to action by using clear and strong words. For example, “Buy Now,” “Get Started,” or “Claim Your Discount.”

I have to remind myself of this often as I tend to soft-sell and ramble.

Make it easy to find by telling them where to go to buy it. Include links and contact details. For example, “Visit this link to order your copy on Amazon today.”

Remind Them Again: Tell them again why your product is great. Tell them again why they should buy now. For example, “Don’t miss this chance to save 75% and learn how I make money on Medium easy with my step-by-step plan. Buy Now.”

Extra Tips That Help Me Write Quick Sales Letters

I know my readers and understand who I’m are writing to. So I make my message fit their needs.

A clear message works best. So I use simple words and short sentences.

And for everything I do more than once, I have a basic template to save time. I simply change it for each product.

By following these steps, you can write great sales letters fast too. Your letters will be clear and fun.

People will buy your product if they want what you are selling because you are being direct, simple, and honest.

Remember, tell them what you have, why it’s good for them, and how to get it. Simple…

“Keep it simple, make it memorable, and make it inviting to look at.” – Leo Burnett*

Interesting side note: Did you know that Leo Burnett’s advertising company created the Pillsbury Doughboy, The Keebler Elves and Morris the Cat for 9-Lives cat food?

P.S. Here is and example of the sales email I sent out to my subscribers about “How To Make Money On Medium” today. (yes, sometimes I violate my own advice

Subject: You can grab a copy of my Medium.com book on amazon

Quick shout to let you know that…

You can get a copy of “How To Make Money on Medium.com” on Amazon.com right now.

The cost is $2.99 for the kindle version.

This book shows you how I:

– Write my articles
– Grew my account
– Reuse the Medium content to book coaching calls.

Here is the link: https://amzn.to/3LiZAlw

Have a great day,

Quite a few years ago, I was working up north on the oil rigs as an electrician.

I was living in the camp, and I wasn’t having a very good time.

We were working two weeks on and one week off, and I craved Freedom but felt like a prisoner.

I know some people love this kind of stuff and the money that comes with it, but I always felt stuck behind the camp wire. Locked into a tight schedule of wake-up work, bus back to camp, shower, go to sleep, and do it all over again.

It was the meanest, darkest, and most beat down I have ever felt.

Anyway, on one of my weeks off, I watched the Disney movie Zootopia. And in that movie was the song by Shakira called “Try Everything.”

It’s a fun song but it made me emotional for some reason. Like even though I felt like a failure, everything was going to be ok.

So I bought it off iTunes and put it on my phone. Every morning at 4:30 when I woke up and stood in line and got on the bus, I would listen to it all the way out to the rig site. On repeat.

It was a fun song that kept me from going super dark.

It kept me together.

And then, maybe a year later, I went to Disney and saw the Disney parade. They had Judy Hopps singing and dancing to the song, and the whole crowd danced.

It was kind of a big deal for me.

What’s your song?
