Major Problems With King James Onlyism

• One of the most obvious flaws of the KJO worldview, is that they apparently haven’t taken into account all of the non English speakers in the world that can’t read English! If you can’t read English then you can’t read the KJV. So, do such people not have access to a valid Bible worth reading? Are they then not privy to know what God has spoken to mankind? My wife is not a native English speaker and has a heck of a time trying to read/understand the KJV.

• The first edition of the King James came out in 1611. In the 100′s of years leading up to 1611 people had used other versions of the Bible such as the Tyndale Bible, Geneva Bible etc. It seems odd to take the stance that there was no valid Bible until this time. Most KJO probably wouldn’t say that but given their position, they are in fact saying this.

• The King James has 7 editions or has been “refined by fire seven times” as I have heard it said. I’m curious of which of the 7 is the valid version. What gives KJO the confidence that there won’t be an 8th edition?

• Contrary to popular belief, the King James does in fact have errors in it. It’s usually the KJO that are quick to point out the errors in other translations, but theirs has them too! From my research the errors are minor (and are insignificant in my opinion) but nevertheless they are there. We can point out the most famous one, the Johannine Comma, but there’s one I found in the first chapter of Genesis that I would like us to examine. In Genesis 1:21 it talks about God creating the great “whales”. The Hebrew word for whales in this passage is “tannı̂yn H8577” which means dragon or serpent. As we all know, a whale is not a reptile but a mammal.

In the Catechism it even says that the “Christian faith cannot accept “revelations” that claim to surpass or correct the Revelation of which Christ is the fulfillment” (pg. 28 paragraph 67). Some of these messages from the various accepted apparitions do exactly that and contain contrary teachings to the Bible. Here are some of those messages which are sanctioned (Caps/bold mine):

• I ALONE am able still to save you from the calamities which approach. Those who place their confidence in ME (emphasis added) will be saved. (Teiji Yasuda, O. S. V., “Akita: The Tears and Message of Mary”, Asbury NJ, 101 Foundation, Inc., pg. 78 Message from Our Lady Akita to Sister Agnes Sasagwa) Read Isaiah 43: 11

• I boldly assert that His suffering became my suffering, because His heart was mine. And just as Adam and Eve sold the world for an apple, so in a sense my Son AND I REDEEMED the world with ONE heart. (Petrisko pg. 247, message to St. Bridget of Sweden, 14th century) Read Isaiah 53:6, 11

• The great Mother humiliated Herself to the lowest depths;…And, as if ashamed in the presence of her divine Son for not having paid her debts, SHE OFFERED HER OWN LIFE AND HER OWN BLOOD in satisfaction and in imitation of her Master’s example…She begged that she alone be singled out to suffer for his love. (Mary of Agreda, “Mystical City of God Vol. IV: The Coronation” pg. 565 paragraph 666. Apparition of Mary to Sister Mary of Agreda, Spain circa 1617) Read Hebrews 10:12-14

• Little children, I am the Mother of Good Counsel, MEDIATOR, who is trying to persuade you to listen to the call. My message is of faith, hope, and love.More than anything, it brings reconciliation between people and nations. It is the only thing that can save this century from war and death. (Sims, pg. 50 Message given to Maria Esperanza in Betania, Venezuela) Read 1 Timothy 2:5

• I stand here as the CO-REDEMPTRIX AND ADVOCATE. EVERYTHING should be concentrated on that. Repeat this after Me: The new dogma will be the “dogma of the CO-REDEMPTRIX”. Notice, I lay special emphasis on “Co”. I have said that it will arouse much controversy. Once again I tell you that the Church “Rome”, will carry it through and silence ALL OBJECTIONS. (Mark I Miravalle, S. T. D., “The Dogma and The Triumph”, Santa Barbara, CA, Queenship Publishing, 1998, pg. 115) Read John 2:1,2

• In the SUFFERINGS, BOTH SPIRITUAL AND BODILY, the Lady, the Mother has SHARED. She has always gone before. As soon as the Father had elected Her, She was the CO-REDEMPTRIX with the Redeemer, who came into the world as the Man-God. Tell that to your theologians. (Kunzli pg. 50. Message given on April 29th, 1951) Read Titus 2:13, 14

• I GAVE YOU six days for working. The seventh I HAVE RESERVED FOR MYSELF. But no one will give it to me. THIS IS WHAT CAUSES my Son’s arm to be so CRUSHING. (Lord, pg. 70. Apparition of Mary to Maximin Graud and Melanie Mathieu, LaSalette, France, 1846) Read Exodus 20:9, 10

•  I am the QUEEN OF HEAVEN and the Queen of Angels. (Raphael Brown, pg. 63) Read Jeremiah 7:18

• The Mother of God HAS PROMISED ETERNAL LIFE to those who die wearing this mantle. (Brown Scapular or the Miraculous Metal; 1983 “Our Lady Fatima’s Peace Plan From Heaven” pg. 21-23) Read John 3:16

• I AM THE GATE WHICH OPENS UPON YOUR SALVATION because, through it, EVERYONE OF YOU MUST PASS TO ARRIVE AT YOUR PERSONAL ENCOUNTER WITH THE LORD. For this, my Son Jesus has constituted me true Mother of all humanity. Only if you pass through this, MY GATE, can you gain entrance in the HEAVENLY garden. (Message given at Milan, Italy on December 8th, 1991 to Father Gobbi) Read 1 John 5:11, 12

Here’s my contention, though such teachings are not required to be a Catholic (Catholics are quick to point this out), nevertheless they are revered within the church. To accept teachings (and not speak out against such false teachings) is allowing false doctrine to be taught. Biblically speaking, false teaching should be pointed out (Ephesians 5:11) and condemned but why does the RCC not do this?

They were two elderly ladies and were very sweet. Without being too invasive I asked them some questions about their joining of the Watchtower. One of them was very quiet but the other was rather talkative. She told me that she was raised a Catholic and left the religion because of her rejection of eternal Hell. I was tempted to debate her on this but I refrained in doing so and only asked a few general probing questions. She told me that a loving God would not punish people forever. I asked her that since “God’s ways are above our ways, can we fully know what God would and would not do?” After all, God created angels without a redemption plan for them unlike us. He made it all, he can do as he pleases whether we like it or not. Tough pill to swallow yet reality. I asked her if she could give me more information on Hell. She got my number and address to set up a Bible study. That’s exactly what I was hoping for. For you Christians that are reading this, I ask for your prayers that as I take on a new “Bible Study” (it’s been awhile with the JWs) I’ll be able to share the real Jesus and the real gospel with them. I’ll keep you updated, and perhaps I’ll record it. Stay tuned.

In my senior year and to the surprise of many, I became a Christian. I was not an easy sell as I was (well still am) very analytical and a doubter by nature. Despite what I knew from logic and reason…you know, what’s rational, I experienced God in a powerful way that I could not deny, but yet could not prove.  I had seen things growing up that I could not explain -yes I mean miracles- but I still wasn’t convinced. Looking back, it was only the grace of God that opened my eyes as no argument (no matter how sound) was ever good enough for me. Fast forward a few years, I moved to Nashville Tennessee to pursue a career in the Christian music industry. I started playing drums at 11 and had some good years under my belt by the time I moved down South at the age of 22.

Within 6 months of living there I was getting hooked up with all kinds of people at parties. I was going to lots of parties, some times 3 a night. I remember my first party was at Jaci Velasquez’s house and I was star struck at seeing/meeting so many of the artists that I had looked up to. I’m sad to say, but Nashville (and the CCM biz) is not what I thought it was. Quite a few of the artists (I’ll not name names) I met/hung out with were not really into ministry but rather womanizing, drinking and drugs. That was an eye opener and I was crushed. There also were the industry churches that I attended and it was all about the Sunday show. After awhile, I got really jaded and angry. I wanted to play music but not with a bunch of hypocrites. Subsequently, I quit playing drums. I have no problems with people having problems and issues, but pretending to be something you’re not -just for the camera etc- that’s where I take issue. To be fair, the Christian music industry won’t let you be who you are anyways, so artists are forced into either unemployment (losing a record deal) or the underground.

After 3  years or so I moved to Los Angeles. I still wasn’t playing drums at this time but I was trying my hand at band management. I did that for awhile but it kind of fizzled, it really wasn’t what I wanted to do anyways. In time I cofounded a unique band with a friend of mine that moved to LA with me. He also was involved in the CCM scene playing for bands such as Jeff Deyo/Sonic Flood, Deliverance, East West etc. After a handful of shows, and with not much money, being worn out etc, we hung er up (if you’re interested, here’s a couple of the goofy songs that we recorded: Obsessive Compulsivity and Ignophobiotic). I’ve had fun with music through the years; made some money, done some tours (Carmen, Kings X, Mardo, Zoe Girls etc), had some deals etc but this chapter in my life is over.

To backtrack just a little (I’m all over the place hehe) I hurt my back some years ago (herniated disk) and in 2007, the pain got so bad I was unable to work. There have been stretches of time where I have been paralyzed and would fall down because of my nerves being pinched. Because of these circumstances, I’ve had to reinvent myself and it has been for the good. Bring in apologetics. With all of the downtime I really got into researching and reading. I was first inspired to research Jehovah’s Witnesses since I had worked with quite a few through the years. In a short period of time, I had accumulated close to 400 of their publications!  That lead to more research on various cult groups, I then branched out into other studies as well. I was doing apologetics before I even knew there was such a branch in Christian theology. I have learned a lot in the past 5 years or so, but I do realize that I have a lot no A TON more to learn. It is my personal conviction that every true Christian is an apologist that defends the faith and advances the Kingdom with sound and Biblical answers for those that ask (1 Peter 3:15). While I’m still trying to figure out what I wanna be when I grow up (I have some eggs in the pan) I just know that the Body of Christ needs to be prepared and equipped in these perilous last days that we live in. I’m not going to get into all of the details of who wrote what books, how they were written, etc but needless to say, it was a tedious process. The Old Testament was written primarily on scrolls while most of the New Testament was written on loose papyrus, parchment, or paper [3]. I would like to point out that when New Testament “books” of the Bible were written, they were first written as letters with no chapters and verses etc. In the 21st Century we forget this fact. These individual letters were then compiled into books, and later all of these books were compiled into the cannon that we know/have today. So to look at these letters from a perspective of the time period that they were written -as the individual documents that they were- we see many corresponding documents that were coming from various sources, not just one. At this time, I’m putting all my research into natural medicine (being a Vitalist) and learning a lot about the healing properties of herbs and general nutrition. But hey, there’s not much money to be made on natural things that God gave us! You can’t patent Valerian Root, Echinacea, Cilantro, Oregano, Milk Thistle, a Strawberry etc. That’s why these natural remedies for all sorts of aliments are considered “alternative” medicine and take the back seat to the neurotoxins they prescribe us. In the past I’ve taken lots of antibiotics for my various infections that would go away for a time but would come back with a vengeance. Recently, I’ve learned the true value of Garlic (a natural anti fungal/antibiotic) that has done a better job and without lowering my immune system. Am I against all medicine? No I am not, it has it’s purpose (it’s keeping my mom alive) but in the Western society I feel people are abusing it when there are better/safer avenues in various instances. Keep in mind that I’m not giving anyone medical advice either. You do your own research and make your own health choices, but make sure your decisions are informed ones. I hope to start writing some more articles in the future -I have a lot of research in my melon that needs to get out- but for now I need to really focus on my health and financial situation. A few years ago I had my girlfriend (now wife) over to watch a movie with me. While she was actually watching it, I started staring outside the window admiring how bright Mars was but it seemed awfully close. The planet was flashing back and forth from solid red to solid white. After about fifteen minutes I asked her if she thought that Mars looked pretty tonight. She promptly replied “that’s not Mars”. I disagreed with her saying that it was since I had been watching it for over fifteen minutes and it hadn’t moved. I knew for a fact that it hadn’t, because I was looking through the screen and using the “grid” of it and the tree line as a reference point to prove it wasn’t moving. Her and I debated about if for awhile as we were observing it.

Next thing I know, the light started moving! The total elapsed time from when I first noticed it to when it started moving was approximately 30 minutes. Yes I checked the clock. It started slowly moving away then made a quick reverse heading right towards the apartment complex! We both ran outside to get a better look at it. It flew right over the complex not making a sound! It was black and triangular in shape with multiple red and white lights under it. We both were exhilarated and curious to figure out what it might have been. I checked the news and there was nothing on about it. I was curious about not seeing any news reports but in time I let it go. Only recently have we come to a conclusion of what it may have been. Some months ago I came across a Youtube video of what looked like we had seen years earlier. As I played the video my wife shrieked “that’s what we saw! that’s the UFO!”. The video was of a TR-3B Astra, that to date, doesn’t exist. I’m not convinced that what we saw was paranormal in origin (likely a secret government craft) but it sure was an interesting sight to behold.

At the age of 18, I became a Christian much to the relief (and surprise) of friends and family. After becoming a born again, I joined a church that I actually wanted to be a part of, one that I wasn’t forced to attend. I enlisted in the choir and started playing drums for the youth. One Sunday, where I was praying backstage with the worship team, something interesting happened to me that day. Keep in mind that I was a new Christian trying to figure God out (still am hehe), and looking for an excuse to do it my way despite my conversion. Just as we were finishing up in prayer, my whole body started to feel really heavy and my legs just decided that they were not going to work. In the only way I can describe it, I felt as if I was carefully being laid down to the floor but in super slow motion, like a parent gently laying down his/her infant into a crib.

Intrinsically I knew God was doing something (hard to describe in words) but at first I was doing my best to resist this but at the same time I was not quite afraid yet concerned. I remember my cheek being flat on the floor and actually not being able to lift it up. Trying to get up was up was useless. I was both amused and frustrated at what was happening, to what I couldn’t explain. Yes something similar happened to me before but this episode was a little different. What really pushed it over the edge for me was that I heard God speak to me. It was not in an audible voice but it might as well have been because it was not my own. The voice distinctly said “you’re on holy ground, you can’t stand in my presence. Don’t try to figure me out nor try to calculate me or my ways. Know that I love you and desire the best for you”.

As this was happening, I thought of the scripture where Joshua met the “captain of the host of the LORD” and fell on his face to the earth, and worshiped (Josh. 5:13-15). Of course the dynamics of my experience were different from his, yet a similar outcome. Years previous when I was “slain” -I wasn’t even a Christian then- I fell backward but this time I fell forward but without going boom. Looking back now, this was one of the distinctive moments in my life where I knew/experienced/realized that God was indeed real and not just some fairytale concept! It has been in the dry times (years afterwards) where I have reflected on experiences like this to remind me that I serve the living Lord, the Great I AM.

I wouldn’t call myself a UFO hunter by any means but I’ve personally seen four. Some years back when I was living in an overcrowded apartment-there was four of us living in a two bedroom and I shared the living room with a friend, I saw my first UFO. My then girlfriend (now my wife) came over to hang out with the boys to watch movies with us. She ended up crashing on one of the couches due to being too tired to drive home. Later in the early morning around 3am I was startled from a deep sleep feeling very terrified. I remember trying to pray Jesus Jesus, but all that was coming out was “J…Je…Je…Jes…”, and I couldn’t say his name. Once I fully awoke, I looked into the kitchen and saw a rather large ball of light in the corner. I remember thinking, we don’t have a nightlight there, so where’s that coming from? The light lingered there for a few minutes then slowly condensed getting smaller and smaller -as I walked towards it- and then finally disappeared.

With the analytical mind that I have, I started to rationalize what it could have been. There were no lights on inside the apartment and no windows near the kitchen. We had a window by the front door, but the blinds were completely closed and there wasn’t an outside light close to that window anyways. I remember thinking that even if the blinds were open, we’re still on the second floor and car headlights don’t come in here, not even by reflection. Also to note is that the light in the kitchen condensed and disappeared rather than panning away like a car headlight would have done. But once again the blinds were closed so none of that would have played into the equation. After exhausting all of my ideas I went back to sleep. Later in the morning I asked my girlfriend how she slept and she said “ok, but what was that bright light in the kitchen?” I didn’t realize that she had seen it too! I wasn’t hallucinating! I figured that she had just slept though the whole ordeal as I was investigating the kitchen and apartment.

Some months later, my roomates and I had discovered that one of my roomates (living downstairs, by the kitchen) was involved in some serious drugs and those interesting looking women that he brought over on occasion, were not friends but prostitutes. On a side note, after we gave him enough warnings about not bringing prostitutes home, we finally had to kick him out. We gave him enough chances. A week later I had detectives calling and informing me that he had been arrested for robbing a 7 Eleven. Sadly, he was an actor and I’m afraid to say that Hollywood got the best of him. After pondering my former roomate’s actions/dealings/associations, I put two and two together, a moment of discernment. I think that he invited in some principalities and some territorial spirits that I couldn’t discern at the time. It’s possible that what I possibly witnessed was the tail end of some spiritual warfare going on. There were some other paranormal things e. g. shadowy figures running up and down stairs, there was rapping on walls (only in his room; no one lived in the unit next door),  etc that I and my girlfriend witnessed.
