Newbie bloggers intending to get rich quick crave tools and tricks to boost their subscriber counts, torpedoing their readership in the process. Forget these quick, poor fixes. Focus on a few fundamental steps to grow your blog subscriber count slowly and steadily.

Write

Write more to attract more readers, target more prospects and boost your subscriber count. Churning out posts improves your writing and selling skills quickly. Take time to study top shelf bloggers; these folks grew large, responsive readerships for good reasons.

By writing more you create by habit. Once you can create 1, 2 or 5 posts daily, writing posts becomes routine. Putting out more content boosts your page views and subscriber count immediately. Write. Write some more.

Network Each Day

Meet more people to expand your presence and attract more subscribers. Promote individuals. Help people grow their venture to grow your venture. If you can patiently network each and every day subscribers will make a beeline for your blog.

Tell readers to sign up for your list. I cannot stress how being brutally explicit boosts your subscriber count. By telling people to take a specific, clear-cut call to action more people take the call to action.

Post calls pre-post, post-post and once in your sidebar via an opt-in form or banner ad. Ask people to take the next step a few times to influence readers to take that step, boost your subscriber count and grow your business venture.

You might want to avoid fights. I sure do. And you can, gut you will rarely avoid conflict. Some people feel strongly about their views, so strongly that they feel the need to pick fights. You can either engage or let go. Letting go helps you deal with conflict effectively, but beware! Letting go feels uncomfortable if you are accustomed to trying to win debates, or if you are attached to being right, or being validated.

The Smart Money Never Fights

The smart money never fights. I deal with unclear people by ignoring these folks or by responding to them in a polite, thoughtful manner. I do not engage though because it never pays to run directly at a charging bull. The bulls wins, every time, and in this case, you get hurt and the bull, well they are already hurt, because anger causes any being to charge, and fear under rides that anger.

Let Go and Grow Quickly

Let go and grow. Successful people know that being for what you do means you might attract some people who are against what you do for a living. In the blogging community we might refer to these people as trolls. However you name these folks matters not but how you choose to deal with these individuals matters much.

Step Aside and Save Yourself Problems

You can fight or step aside. You can engage or disengage. You choose what to do in each moment, or in response to each barb. Now you can choose to debate if you feel going down this road will lead to an intelligent debate. You can choose to chat if you feel chatting will lead to an intelligent chat. But the moment you sense conflict, and fighting, and pushing, and one party trying to be right, or trying to disprove the other party, well, you are a fool for engaging these folks, because the charging bull wins every time.

The Charging Bull Wins the Battle But Loses the War

And the charging bull is not winning in a good way, oh no. They wind up as a steak dinner, served up tonight, after they are killed, and in the online realm the killing occurs as these folks ruin their reputation, being labelled fighters, or trolls, or simply angry, unclear folks, who are to be avoided at all costs.

Stop Fighting Now

Stop fighting. Simply refuse to engage. This one little tip will promote your online success like few other approaches. Once you learn to step aside when conflict arises you will have saved yourself countless hours of fighting, debating and silliness.

I like giving away free stuff.

I like charging for my services too.

You can never give away too much free stuff until you give away too much free stuff. The balance is tough to find. I know, because I fought with myself in this area for a long time. I was Mr. Value for years. Then I charged for my writing services.

I struggled with the shift. I fought. I felt like I needed to give away more free value before I had the right to charge. Of course this made me sick and broke. I was a skilled writer. I could offer my services and get paid while I continued to churn out helpful, free content via my blogs.

Charge. Give away, sure, and keep giving away, but once you know you should charge - and this should happen quickly, if you spend 8 or 10 hours daily honing your skills - charge, and charge freely.

You can only make a living after you decide to make a living. You decide to make a living by offering your services for a fee. Doctors work years to make big bucks. You work years to make, peanuts? I think not. You can give away way too much free information, if you are not careful.

Share the value freely then add a price tag as your skills improve, because people - cheap people - will nickle and dime you to death. People will give you exactly what you feel you deserve, and you send off the deserving, or non-deserving, vibe, in exact relation to how much you charge for your products or services.

I was a big Naughty by Nature fan as a high schooler.

I am from New Jersey. Living in Costa Rica now - the beach above is a 10 minute ride from my apartment - but I am an NJ guy.

The rap group originated in East Orange, about a 30 minute drive from my hometown in Jersey....and one of the group's members hailed from Rahway, which was a 10 minute drive.

So yeah, I was down with OPP...the song, that is, NOT the message the group conveyed ;)

It got me thinking.....successful online entrepreneurs are down with OPP, big time.

This chicken eats out of the sewer. Yikes!

Hmmm....happy to be a vegetarian. I see how our chicken neighbors in Quepos, Costa Rica, eat, and trust me, it ain't pretty!

Anyway, you might be eating filth, too, guys, but you are not aware of it.

Mental food.

Mental nourishment. You might be eating mental crap if you:

watch the news
watch trashy talk shows
engage in gossip
fight people - verbally - or heck, physically too
complain about stuff
hang out with negative people

If you eat mental crap you fill your mind with fear. If you do this, you feel anxious, worried, nervous, angry....all types of negative energy.

Anxious, worried, nervous.....angry....envious....unhappy people move into anxious, worried, nervous, angry, envious, unhappy actions....and fail.

These are people with no money. Few friends....or if they have friends, their friends drag them down to eat the mental shit which perpetuates both parties' misery.

You can complain, or be grateful.

You can fight, or be non-resistant.

You can be broke, or rich.

Your choice.

All depends on your mental diet.

You want to know, WHY? You seek Whys because Whys motivate you to do stuff.

Want money? You care not for greenbacks, you want the reason Why, the freedom.

Why is the most powerful question in the Universe. It is your driver. It makes you do what you do.

"Need" in Title

Using NEED creates a sense of urgency. Tell people they need to do something and people generally do that something.

Once you need it, you do what it takes to get it.

If I write for myself, I can do things diary style. Talk about me and I all day.

Making money online is easy these days. Yes I have to work but the work feels pretty effortless.

Yes I push myself but the whole pushing myself into uncomfortable areas is my habit nature, after doing this for months, so it is easy.

When I decided to be free, life was not easy. I desired to succeed but I still feared embracing uncomfortable situations and pushing myself.

Things got difficult for me because my fears were stronger than my desires. This went on for many years.

I would get super hungry to succeed. Then I would cower when faced with resistance, and turn back, giving in to my fears.

Life became even more difficult for me. This online money making thing was difficult, far from easy....because....

I cowered to my fears and ran from uncomfortable situations.

If you keep turning around you make life harder on yourself.

I have noted a few folks who guest posted on my blog. Wrote some great content. Then disappeared. They are turning around, running from their fears - I am wasting my time guest posting, nobody is reading these anyway, I have no ideas, I am going broke, etc, etc - and sprinting from these uncomfortable feelings.

If they wrote 1 guest post for me, daily, sitting with their miserable feelings, and then writing, they would attract readers to their blogs, and make money through ghostwriting, or ad revenue, or gifting, or MLM, or any channel.

Because after sitting through uncomfortable situations - the difficult part - it gets easy, really easy, because your habit nature simply carries you through any moments where you push yourself, like on autopilot, and you smile along the way.

Anyway I just read another blog. Awesome content. But no author. I could not address the author by name. Have no idea who writes the blog.

So I moved on. The author is nameless, faceless, hiding. Brand killer.

Because you need to have a name and face to brand you, unless you are Coca Cola or Apple.

I also read a post written by Editorial Staff. More bad news. Because that is a really weird name if your parent named you Editorial Staff lol ;)

Stop making this mistake. Hop into your backoffice and change settings so people can see who runs the blog. Who writes the post.

Once folks can connect a name with the content you are golden. All is good. All is well on the branding path.

People need to know you to trust you and sharing your name is a critical step in identifying you as the builder of your brand.

These monkeys were HUNGRY!

The squirrel monkeys did not care how big I was, or how big Kelli was....they reached into her hand and snagged bananas.

It was crazy, really...how bold these cute little creatures were.

They had desire fire. A burning desire to get what they wanted - food - and they did whatever they had to do, to get it...including fighting off their other monkey buddies, and walking right up to a person and snatching the food from her hand.

As a successful entrepreneur you have the same fire, the same hunger...or you better adopt it, if you want to succeed online, because you will face obstacles.

This is the key trait: hunger, or having a strong desire to succeed. Gotta have it, and you must boldly go after what you want to succeed online.

Nobody is immune from facing obstacles. We all race resistance. Successes just want to succeed more than they want to fail. So they push on despite the obstacles.

Failures are hungry to remain comfortable. Failures secretly like failure, because although they feel miserable failing they can simply blame their failing on other people or circumstances, remaining nice and comfy in the process.

Successes are hungry to succeed, so hungry that this crowd grabs at what they want, boldly making a beeline for their goals.

Why Being Ignorant Is a Good Thing

I admit it. I am an ignorant guy.

I like spending my time feeding squirrel monkeys in Costa Rica with Kelli.

I do not like wasting my time.

Example; I sifted through 120 emails in 4 minutes. Many were responses to comments, or first time comments, or opt ins.

A few were people who said they would pledge to my team.

Great. If they want it they can call me.

That is what I advise through my autoresponder.

If they do not want it, they will not call me.

I ignore virtually all of my emails. I take note, but again, I spend seconds or minutes checking in once a week.

I also ignored a few other emails asking questions because....I am effective.

I am effective with my time by being selectively ignorant.

One success tip almost all driven people follow;be selectively ignorant.

Spend no more than a second of your time gauging whether you should respond to some requests.

Some people with problems need to be ignored. Why? You are busy, and can only solve so many problems.

Other people need to contact you.

If you join my team I tell you to call me and ask how to start up.

If you do not call I ignore. Sound good? It is, because it saves me time, and my online cash flow improved immediately by taking this approach.

Well, here are 3 easy tips for using paid advertising to grow your business.

Pay Little

When I started doing solo ads I googled the term and found the cheapest ad guy.

I learned without spending a fortune.

This one is easy to follow. Do not rush to pay big bucks until you know what the hell you are doing. Once you gain experience, and see a bigger return, invest more money.

You gain no rewards for blowing money. Trust me on this one. Because I have never wasted a cent on paid advertising ;)

Go Slow and Steady

When I did paid I would invest a small amount every few weeks. This is easy; simply spend most of your time doing free marketing and toss in paid for a few minutes, if you need to do so.

With solos, since I wrote the ads, I invested a few minutes of my time once weekly.

If you are using hands free marketing like post cards, try it once every 2 weeks in the beginning.

Slow and steady wins the paid marketing race.

People who see terrible results do not go slow and steady. They try to hit a home run each time out, thinking the more you spend, the more you make.

Even if you use a proven paid marketing tactic it takes some time to program people with your message, or to find the right copy which inspires people to join your team or buy your stuff.

Take your time. Easy.

Test

Duh, right? Most people never take the easy step of assessing how paid marketing works for you which is why most make no dough online.

Test which words influence people to take which actions.

Look at numbers. Gauge if your money is well spent. Easy. It takes minutes to assess, test and tweak.

Improve. By testing. This step is easy but lazy people believe testing is difficult. Well, go into another line of work if reading numbers and words is too difficult to do lol...

How?

Adsense. Cash Gifting. Ghost writing. Paid guest posting. MLM. Network marketing. Affiliate marketing.

Ok those are the channels. But the prospering happens when you:

Create Value and Make Connections.

Make friends and write blog posts. This is the simple money making formula.

Simple does not mean easy because simple can feel difficult at times.

But you need to keep going when you want to give up. Write the extra blog post. Shoot the extra video.

Make 5 more friends today.

Post helpful comments on blogs. Share people's content. Be a helper.

Keep going, even when you feel like quitting, and you will begin making money with your blog.

How to Avoid Getting Distracted

I hit this beach in 1 hour.

I have plenty of posts to write and friends to meet.

I swear, my mind is beginning to race.

If I am not careful, I get distracted. I feel worried. I do stuff that does not grow my internet business.

But I stay on task. I remain on purpose. By:

Knowing why I want to prosper. Knowing why helps drive you to stay on purpose and not stray off course. I dig being free. So I get work done.

Setting alarms. A timer goes off every 50 minutes. I take a 10 minute break. This break lets me see if I am wasting time, chasing distractions, or doing what puts money in my pocket: creating and connecting.

Saying a lot with a little. Imagine me writing a 1000 word blog post now? I would be lost, totally upset, anxious, running out of time. If you try to say a little with a lot you get distracted and stray off course. Instead, 200 to 300 words does it here. No more.

Focus on why you want to prosper online. This emotion drives you into effective acts each hour of the day.

Check yourself frequently. Watch. Observe what you do and decide whether you are sprinting toward your goals.

Say a lot with a little.

Are You Thinking for Yourself?

Look at that guy chilling on the beach in Costa Rica today. I can honestly say that thinking for myself led me here.

Many people did not think I could do it. Many people who never do their own thinking.

Most folks allow their family or friends or society to do their thinking for them. This is dangerous, because your family or friends or society usually does not pay your bills.

Nobody outside of you lives your life so you better do your own thinking if you want to live your own life.

Living your own life is never easy in the beginning.

You might find yourself disagreeing with many people because a fair number of folks live other people's lives, doing what their family and friends tell them to do, and these folks fight you tooth and claw, to conform like them.

This crowd does not fight you on purpose; they only know this way, the way that has been lined up for you.

I knew another way. I took it.

I thought for myself.

I never do stuff you should do. At least most of the time.

I just figured that wanting to do stuff is the first step to doing stuff.

No worries if you do what you care not doing; this is OK if you are entirely clear and accepting of your conscious choice.

If however you are unhappy, start doing what you want to do.

If people criticize you for doing what you want to do - as long as you are not breaking laws - let them go.

Never get angry with unclear people. Simply release them and hang with people who live their dreams.

Nothing personal here, just your life.

Make sure that you are doing your own thinking to ensure that you live your own life.
