Xray reports – “Round 4 of the Just Hobby Challenge took place on June 14, 2009 at the Just Hobby Race Circuit. It was a cloudy morning but turned out to be a bright sunny day later in the afternoon. Qualifying Rounds – The first round of qualifying started at 9:30AM. The morning traction was not ideal and XRAY driver Tom Goh and Jesse Wu qualified in the 2nd and 3rd positions followed by Don Ng and Don Chng in 6th and 8th positions. By the second round of qualifying a wrong tyre choice followed by changing track conditions made it even more difficult to improve our grid position. At the end of the qualifying, there were four XRAY cars in the Top 10.” Read More… [Source - teamxray.com]

“The Bui’s hit the podium with all 3 taking a podium spot, with Gary and Tam 1 and 3 in Pro Buggy and Henry second in Junior Buggy. With the Points series coming to a close with only one more round left to run, and all 3 classes still wide open, the racing was always going to be hard and fast, and as usual the action didnt disappoint!! Marc Christianson – Losi taking the round one win ahead of Tam Bui – Xray, Skip Jackson – MBX6 coming home in third, with the overall series leader Knauth – Hyper 9 wasting a hefty lead with a small mistake in the closing stages to drop right back to 8th. Round 2 saw Gary Bui win ahead of Jackson, with junior driver Tom Jones – Xray picking up third spot, Tam Bui 4th and Knauth 5th. Round 3 saw Knauth get up to take a one lap win ahead of Jackson and Kyle Hodges – X2CR, Gary Bui fourth and henry Bui – Xray fifth. Round 4 was a fantastic close race between Knauth and Gary Bui with only 2.79 seconds between them at the end, with Hodges really enjoying driving his new X2CR with a hard fought third ahead of Rawlings – Xray and John Chau – Xray. Round 5 the final round for the night saw Gary Bui take his second win with Knauth just behind, Rawlings into third Ciccone – MBX6 and Tam Bui rounding out the top 5.” Read More… [Source - ocrraceway.com]

“Caster Racing USA has confirmed the rumors of a new fully upgradeable entry level electric 1/8 buggy called the 748. It is designed for the person who wants to get into 1/8 electric for an economical price but can have the option to race on a track competitively or bash with the option of future upgrades. For those who do not know, Caster Racing was the first manufacturer to actually make an electric buggy and truggy and has once again proven that they are on the leading edge of technology when it comes to the electric market. Caster Racing has been developing and manufacturing 1/8 nitro rc products and kits since 2004 and has been constantly improving their product quality and design. They also carry a full line of tools, starter boxes, accessories, wheels/tires, and chargers.

Goals for the 748 –

1.) Make it FUN!
3.) Make it fully upgradeable for the future with absolute simplicity.
4.) Make it unbelieveably economical.
5.) Make it have a long run time for racers and bashers.
6.) Make it change the way the industry looks at 1/8 electric.
7.) Make the name meaningful and controversial.

Price and specifications to be announced July 15. Release date July 15.”

“The Manic is a sensational 4WD ready to run 1/8th scale monster truck with a massive .36 cu in (6cc) twin cylinder engine. With a rugged suspension, and strong 4WD transmission it is designed to handle the roughest ground and most challenging obstacles. Its impressive speed and handling make the Manic an outstanding choice for any conditions. The fantastic Schumacher reputation for quality and support will make the Manic a favourite for all monster truck owners. The Manic twin engine system gives you twice the power, but unlike other twin engined vehicles, not twice the problems. The engines are coupled and synchronised so that a single electric starter system will start both engines. The single clutch and carburettor means that there is still only one set of adjustments to get right. Enjoy the awesome power and scintillating exhaust sound of 2 engines!
