Europe’s leading new music festival The Great Escape brings 350 artists to 30 venues in beautiful Brighton from 16-18 May. Whether you plan to attend any shows in person or live beyond a stone’s throw from the action and can’t get there yourself, this epic playlist for The Great Escape 2013 created by awesome Rdio user Paul Hayes will give you a taste of the breadth of new music happening over these three days, including performances by artists from A*M*E to Za!
Belfast’s own Girls Names is one of the bands slated to kill at next week’s top music fest The Great Escape in Brighton, England. In honour of their appearance, the lo-fi band (which actually includes three men!) shares an exclusive playlist with you called Girls Names: Favourites & Inspirations that features bands such as Can, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Beak, and Public Image Ltd. You can also listen to Girls Names’ most recent album The New Life to hear how those picks play out in their own original songs.

A broken record never evolves — it just keeps playing a sound over and over again. But UK electropop darling Little Boots’ anthem “Broken Record,” taken from the new album Nocturnes, has a fresh lease on the dancefloor with the Chupacabras & JDH Remix.

Canadian electropop band Dragonette teamed up with singer-songwriter Sunshine Jones (best known for her work in Dubtribe Sound System) for the remix of “Run Run Run,” a single taken from the recent album Bodyparts.

Are you ready to D.A.N.C.E.? French electronic music duo Justice is back! Since their debut in 2007, members Gaspar Augé and Xavier de Rosnay have released both studio and live albums. Their latest, Access All Arenas, returns to the concert stage and captures a performance recorded during the last world tour at Les Arènes de Nimes in France.

New York’s 16-year-old independent label AUM Fidelity was inspired by the do-it-yourself spirit of punk record labels that nurtured and developed original acts through music released without major label assistance. That work ethic as well as the passion to encourage true individuality has been channeled into a different side of the music spectrum to highlight the jazz and avant-garde soul worlds.
