DIY Bath Fizzies

This recipe is a little bit involved but the result is really nice and perfect for yourself or as a gift! It also makes a TON so you could easily cut it in half and still have plenty of bath fizzies to use.

What You Need:

1 3/4 cup Baking Soda

2 cups Cornstarch

1 cup Citric Acid (We found ours online at Amazon.com)

Essential oil such as lavender or peppermint

Food coloring (optional)

Baking molds

Spray bottle/spritzer bottle

What You Do:

1. Sift baking soda, cornstarch and citric acid into a large bowl, through a sieve to remove chunks. Stir well.

2. Fill spray bottle with water and, if desired, food coloring to create different tints. You can use all one color or multiple colors, just put them each in a different bottle.

3. Pour 1 cup of powdered mixture into a separate bowl. Spray small amount of water from your spray bottle into the powder and stir well. Repeat until the powder can be tightly packed and shaped (check with your fingers). Remember to stir after each spray. This may take quite a few sprays! Be patient and add water slowly so that the powder does not get too wet.

4. Add 5-6 drops of essential oil and stir well.

5. Firmly pack mixture into baking molds and let set for 2 hours.

6. Pop out carefully and store in an airtight container. You can repeat the process with different tints. As you can see, our bright blue water produced very lightly tinted fizzies so you may need to experiment if you want the color to show up well.

All Natural Rose Petal Scrub

If you received roses for Mother's Day, chances are they look like mine do: droopy and starting to wilt.

I always hate throwing away roses but now you can give them new life by turning them into an all natural rose petal scrub!

This scrub smells amazing and it's super easy to make. Here's how:

Cut off one rose from the stem and pluck off the petals. You won't need all of the petals, just 12-15 so you can throw away the wilted ones on the outside. You will probably find that there are plenty of nice petals inside the rose.

Next, measure out 1 1/2 cups of sugar and 1/4 cup of baby oil.

Dump everything into a food processor.

Put the lid on and make sure everything is in place on your machine. Next, you will want to pulse your food processor 15-20 times so that everything gets chopped and mixed up but the scrub is still soft and fluffy.

When you finish pulsing, your scrub should look like this:

It will look and smell amazing! Now you can store it in any airtight container until you are ready to use it.

I used a glass container but our Re-Play snack pods also work well! Just be sure that you do keep it in a sealed, air-tight container since it does not have any type of preservatives. This is a great way to pamper yourself or give it as a gift to a friend, grandma, teacher or babysitter.
