In honour of Mental Health Awareness Month in the USA Terri Morgan has decided to reduce her novel, Playing The Genetic Lottery, to 99c in the US and 77p in the UK. Here is the press release Terri put together for this discount event:

“One out of every four people will be affected by mental illness during their lifetime. Despite its prevalence few people know much about mental illness beyond the old stereotypes, misinformation, and rumors. Unfortunately, due to the stigma associated with mental illness, many people are too ashamed or embarrassed to seek help for themselves or their loved ones.

National Mental Health Awareness Month was started in 1949 to help educate and inform people about depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. And one of the best ways to learn about a topic is to read a true-to-life novel about it. With that in mind,, the author of a novel about schizophrenia has reduced the price of her e-book during the month of May.

One of my goals in writing Playing the Genetic Lottery—aside from creating a good read—was to educate people about schizophrenia and the impact it has on families,” Morgan said. “My hopes are by raising awareness about mental illness I can raise compassion for people who are living with schizophrenia, and help reduce the stigmas associated with mental illness.”

Sandra leaned against the door frame, reached into her low-rider jeans’ back pocket and produced an envelope. She passed the folded paper to her. Frankie stared at the picture, reading the words: Child Find, Missing; young female seventeen, eyes hazel, brown hair, height 5’7”, weight 120.

“How could you keep this from me?” she asked, tightening her grip on the envelope.

“I didn’t. Yesterday, my mom received her Visa bill. She gave me the envelope when she saw Candice’s picture. I phoned her parents. They are in the middle of a divorce. Her mom said when they first split, she began to stay out late. Then one day she just never came home.”

“We have to find her. The police haven’t been able to,” Frankie said, waving the envelope.

“We will do what we must do to track her. Did you bring your cards?”

“Yes.”

“Come with me,” she said, grabbing her hand. She dragged her into the dish room stopping to retrieve her Tarot deck from the pocket of her jean jacket.

Always Ready, Always There

We are proud to join Breathless Press’s Armed Force Celebration today. Our chosen force is the National Guard. We have always respected the Guard and what they do for America. “This is a very interesting piece about an archeologist who is trying to find proof of the existence of Troy while not knowing that she is being setup in a plot to steal an important artifact. This book is very intriguing in that the author was so knowledgeable. You could tell by reading it, that Karlsen did her homework before writing this piece. To me, that speaks very highly of her and her writing. 2.75/5″
