Oh well, you know.. most of my time is spent at work, then to taking care of lil Rosemary after work, and it sure does seem to me that time is never enough ! By 11pm or so, my battery level drops almost to "low battery sign"!

So, what's been going on for the past few weeks? Well, thankfully the nausea, tiredness symptoms have all decreased since middle of August and now it's honeymoon time! ~ Eat and sleep all I can! Though I must say, occassionally I do get butterflies in my tummy when I think about The Day. I pray all goes well and the pain will not last for more than an hour ! Hehe..

Did a scan last week and Doctor said very likely baby is a ....... let's just say, I should start buying up some blue colours! hehe! To be honest, I kinda suspected since early pregnancy. You call it, instinct? This pregnancy is so different compared to Rosemary. When I was conceiving her, I had no mood to make myself looking good, I hated make up stuffs, perfumes or anything that would make a lady look good. Looking back now, I thought I really looked unattractive! But.. for this one, I love to play around with make up stuffs, I am very disciplined with skin care and I take pride in dressing up properly just to look good. hahaahahaha.. really, it may sound weird to some of you but that is exactly what I've been experiencing.

Oh well, I would love to write more about Rosemary's reaction when I told her about there's a baby on the way! But it's back to work now. I'll see you guys soon with more updates!
Boss just told me that he would like me to join our company’s trip somewhere in September this year to Bali, Indonesia. Very likely a 4 days 3 nites stay. But….. (OK guys, I’ve got a news to break here.. I am actually…. 2 mths pregnant ! )

Of course boss already knows but he said it’s still OK to travel even though by then I would be around 5 months. But, hubby is not keen to let me go for this trip as he feels it’s too risky to go travelling and I kinda agree with my hubby because if to those who’ve not seen my pictures when I was carrying Rosemary, you can check them out here. I was very huge by the 3rd trimester. 2nd trimester was just the same. At my 5th month pregnancy, I was bigger than many other mommies who were about 6 - 7 months pregnant!

Point being, maybe I am not a risk taker or whatsoever, and you know how’s company trip are usually, lots of team building and walkings. I don’t think I am capable of doing that. Bali is beautiful and I do hope to go there too but I guess the timing is just not right. Oh gosh.. please tell me what to do!! I have to tell him my decision today but I am so afraid that he’ll get upset as I could see from his expression yesterday that he’s really hoping that I would go along. My boss is one of the nicest boss I’ve got by far, and though I know that in the end, he’ll accept it if I told him I really couldn’t make it, but at the same time I know he really wants me to be in this trip because he feels that it is important since I am in the HR Department and you know how important it is for the HR department o socialize with other employees. Arrrghh… please give me some ideas!
Come to think of it, does it hurt to be nice ah? Does it cost any money ah? I don't understand why some people choose to behave that way? For self satisfaction ? I paling hate those who looks at you and then gives you an answer with those big popped out eyes, as if you've just asked them one hell of a stupid question. If big eyes like this cute baby, at least acceptable jugak, since the expression is adorable.

But if kena pandang with eyes yang langsung tak menyerlahkan (non attractive eyes) and menakutkan (scary looking ones) and then accompanied with sarcastic hurtful remarks, how to tolerate? - OK that was a mean remark, but they definitely deserve it !

Come on la, if it's really a stupid question, not everyone is smart what. So, what's so wrong about answering politely or explaining nicely.
Here's a sample of a frustrating conversation: -

A scenario whereby polite gal, a working colleague of Sarcastic B in a team, helps Sarcastic B to make a phone call since Sarcastic B is appearing to be busy. Busy or LLB* or not... god only knows la.

Polite gal: Eh, I have called Mike for you and he said he'll be able to drop by end of this week only. Is it OK with you?

Sarcastic B*: Hallorr ! If I have to wait for him to come by end of this week, I would have called him myself lah! and make the appointment to see him ??

Polite gal: Err.... I am only helping you to call since you mentioned you are busy today. I can't force him to to come leh since he's tied up these few days.

Sarcastic B* gives that annoying big eyes look and walks away.

What?? No thank you??? No appreciation?? This is just some of the samples. I did a google search on people with this sort of attitude problem. Turns out, there is an explanation for this! Wow !

“Hurtful sarcasm is a way of putting someone or something down without directly insulting them. It usually implies an irritating "I'm 1-up" (superior) attitude and body language. It provides a way for the speaker to deny their criticism and avoid owning their attitude (a double message). Excessive or hurtful sarcasm usually indicates the person is ruled by a false self, and doesn't know how to assert and prob-lem-solve respectfully”

So wanna know how to deal with these kind of people, you can read on in this link I found from the net.

I suspect people who love throwing hurtful sarcastic remarks are people who are insecure but at the same time is totally crazy for power. They just love the sight of you being belittled. It gives them some sense of satisfaction and a feeling of victory. ALSO, knowing that they could get away easily because I am pretty sure they would normally dare to be sarcastic only to people like us, who are nice. So you tell me now, what do you say, maybe nice people should start being nasty to nuisance mosquitoes like them and put them back to their places! Or…..

should nice people just continue being nice, take a big breathe, suck it allll in and walk away, perhaps?

But I told myself that by hook or crook, I have to post this video up. My daughter is a big fan of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, but what I didn’t know is, she loves to dance to Mickey Mouse clubhouse music theme. I managed to capture her dance moves for the first time! Since the music coming out from the TV is soft, you won't be able to hear any music at all. Funny sight though... cause you'll get to see in the background, my husband (who never dances) tries to cerograph some moves for her! It’s really hilarious, you probably hear that I am holding back my laughter, but right after the shot, I laughed my heart out!! Here it is… I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I did!

My boss, my colleague and myself made a trip to Stamford College PJ yesterday to interview some secretarial students, hoping to find one potential to be recruited in our company. Why Stamford College? Well, firstly because I graduated from there in 1997 and by far, even after so many years, I still think that Stamford Secretarial School is the top ranking in producing quality secretarial students.

So as we walked in to the premise, I was impressed with the interior design. I expected to walk in to see the familiar office that I used to walk in and out every day for almost 3 years. But it turned out, they've changed the layout completely......impressive, I would like to add on. Well, compared to back then, really... trust me!

Reception area.. too bad couldn't snap pictures of other areas!

Memories started flooding in. I remembered clearly how easy it was for me to sneak out to the canteen, as the office I was assigned to was just right next to the canteen. I was never hungry! Those were the good ol' days. As I stood looking at the canteen, I saw the young and vibrant Rose hanging out with a few good friends, over a cup of coffee.

Saturdays was always the best day of the week, because I'll never miss breakfast. Aunty's nasi lemak was awesome. I remembered even going back there with my best friend on Saturday mornings for breakfast, even after we no longer work at Stamford. That power, aunty's nasi lemak was !

As I was having a good time, recalling all these sweet memories, I was "awaken" by the arrival of the Head of Secretarial School and she greeted us warmly. We were escorted to 1st floor and of course I knew the place very well. She brought us and introduced us to the Model Office. Wow... oh wow! This was the 1st office I worked when I was hired, before moving down to the Ground Floor next to the canteen, months later.

Model office, I never thought I would hear this term again. You see, when any secretarial students were to graduate, they'll have to go through what some may call it internship training. But here, secretarial students will have to "imagine" that they are working in a real life office, headed by the Head of School of course, playing the role as the "boss". From time to time, boss will dictate the assignments and then nervous students will try their best to absorb all information which have to be carried out later and must be accomplished! Imagine the stress. I remembered, back then, I played the role of a "big sister" to sort of like supervising these students and delegating work assignments to them. Believe me when I said I had fun!

I do miss my ex- 1st boss, and my lecturers. My mentor back then was non other than the pioneer lady boss of School of Secretarial Studies; Mrs Vivianne See. She is elegant, intelligent and really one of a kind! She taught me from grooming, to ethics, etiquette and though I've disappointed her many, many times, she never gave up on me. I found friendship, discipline and love through her guidance and I owe her a big thank you today. Of course I also remembered my other dear lecturers, Puan Lubna, Mrs James, Mrs Jacob, Mr Julian ahem ahem... a thorn among the roses, and well oh well, Ms Thilagavathy. How could I ever forget her! She was my good friend, who's always advising and supporting me. I've not forgotten Puan Nora too. She's one iron lady I tell you but truthfully, with a soft heart and a funny person. Efficient is her middle name, by the way.

So my dear lecturers, if you ever came across this page, I just want to say thank you for being wonderful and patient with me when I was young and mischievous. The best of me today for being a secretary, reminds me every time of you all.

Phewwww !! I was missing in action for way too long and I miss blogging so much! Firstly, thank you to my friends who constantly came back to check on my blog only to find nothing's being updated! and so I thank you for your patience. My apologies for the long silence......

I have been busy with work and of course my weekends are spent mostly with little Rosemary, and believe me when I say she's a handful, she is indeed one! I am waiting anxiously for the day to come to hear her calling me; Mummy! Right now, some of her most popular words are Dada whom she refers to her daddy, her grandfather, and occasionally her uncles too. Mama, as you can guess, referring to me, *a big grin here* and her grandmother (hubby's mom) As for my mom, since my mom identified herself as Ah Mah Po Po to little Rosemary since baby, and so quite recently little Rosemary has started calling my mother; Paopao.

You can imagine how I was caught with a pleasant surprise one fine day in the car, when little Rosemary was humming to herself! I have no idea where she got the melody from, but believe me, it sounded really, very nice. She hummed like a pro. We got her some nursery rhyme CDs and you wouldn't want to take them away from her cause, those are her precious possessions! lol She loves to watch the cartoon characters displayed in the nursery rhymes and me, even as an adult enjoyed watching. If you are curious to know, the CDs are entitled Sing Along Karaoke, and there are CD 1 - CD 4, by Innoform Media. I got CD 1, 3 and 4 from Jusco during sale time, so it's quite worth it to buy if there's a discount. Little Rosemary picked up some cute actions from watching these cartoons. I think it's OK to allow our toddler to watch these CDs as these are the educational type. Some may disagree with me, but oh well, it's subject to your own preference of bringing up.

Wanna see her in action? haha.. enjoy this 2 little pictures....

Have to admit, upon walking into the animals area, the smell was overwhelming... but eventually our sense of smell got immuned to it.

We could not ride on the safari as little Rosemary is too young to join. Perhaps we'll go there again in the future when she's big enough to ride the Safari truck.
I enjoyed every moment of it. Here are some pictures to entertain you :)

We stayed in Apartment 2B, opposite of D' Savoy Condotel. Quite worth it, RM 872 for 3 days 2 night stay, comes with Cowboy town show, Safari and Water world tickets for 4 pax. No meals though but it's OK as we brought along our cooking utensils to cook in the apartment.
But if Rosemary is tired by the time comes, then I will only attend mass tomorrow morning. While writing this, I am thinking of something.

Hey, have you guys ever wondered what Christmas is all about besides all those nice things we do like exchanging gifts lah, sending wishes through text messages, e-cards lah and so on. I was just thinking, surely Christmas means more than that. I mean, it's nice to go visiting, exchange gifts, have some makan-makan session, but is that all? What happen next after Christmas?

I am starting to think about what I did this entire year and what I have achieved and not. I had my ups and down just like any other human. I've had hurts and I've had good laughs as well. I've admired some great people along the way and I've been in situations that I shouldn't have to, perhaps I may, would have hurt other people, for I am not a perfect person. I am learning everyday to be a better person, a better mom and a better wife. And so, I am summing all this up to one greatest gift that Christmas has to offer. And that gift is forgiveness.

Dr Peter Strelan from the University of Adelaide's School of Psychology has this to say about forgiveness:

He says forgiveness is acknowledging that you're human and have the same ability to hurt others.

"Getting people to recognise that they're also capable of hurting others, probably have and probably will again unintentionally, is an important step," he says.

"We're humans, we do make mistake and hurt other people, so being able to see things from different perspectives is really important."

Dr Peter Strelan says there's some simple ways to help you move along the process of forgiveness.

1. Think about whether the person who has hurt you has tried to make amends or apologise.

"If the perpetrator is trying to make amends, we get the message from them that they're taking responsibility for what they've done and they actually care about me, for having hurt me," Dr Strelan says.

2. Reframe the scenario of how you've been hurt

"If the person who has hurt you isn't trying to make amends, you can try and re-interpret what has happened and try to understand why it has happened and maybe there was a situation or something else going on in the other person's head that you weren't aware of," he says.

3. Remember that just as you've been hurt, you can also hurt.

"Just think about the fact that it's possible for you to hurt someone else as well and one day you'll probably need forgiveness," Dr Strelan advises.

Having read all that, it just strike me that although forgiveness seems such a simple word, yet, it is such a difficult thing to do, kan? Can we really forgive ourselves and others?

I think we can. I know it because I will learn to accomplish it. Further more, life is so unpredictable and is too short for us to keep pondering over any hurtful events. So, I'm thinking we should at least begin this by trying.

So my dear friends, besides exchanging wonderful gifts and sending out all the pleasant wishes through text messages and e-cards, let us also make the meaning of Christmas more significantly by forgiving ourselves first.

We'll be heading to A Famosa Resort Melaka during the Christmas holidays. I love it. I especially like the Cowboy town show. Very geng wan the fire eating show. Even the animals are smart. They know how to parade. No kidding. Especially the chickens. Even though they go in groups, busy clucking here, clucking there, but somehow they know to parade back on track wan. I know because I've been there before and have seen it with my own eyes!
If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another decorator.

If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another cook.

If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home and give all that I have to charity, but do not show love to my family, it profits me nothing.

If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir's cantata but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point.

Love stops the cooking to hug the child.

Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the spouse.

Love is kind, though harried and tired.

Love doesn't envy another's home that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens.

Love doesn't yell at the kids to get out of the way.

Love doesn't give only to those who are able to give in return but rejoices in giving to those who can't.

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails. Video games will break, pearl necklaces will be lost, golf clubs will rust, but giving the gift of LOVE will endure.
To my dearest family and friends,
Here's wishing you all the joys of the season. May this Christmas be bright and cheerful and may the New Year begin on a prosperous note!

Merry Christmas! Ho Ho Ho!
I think with the collections in my makeup safe deposit box, it is possible I can set up a makeup store selling 2nd hand make up merchandise! Sometimes I am thinking if I should be banned from any makeup! That would be cruel. Imagine this, you are banned from eating nasi lemak ever again. No more KFC for you. No more coffee. Brutal isn't it, if you are a coffee lover.

Actually, make up is fun if you know how to explore the colors. I am not a makeup expert but given a chance, I would like to take up a course, learned up the skill and be one! I think makeup is one of the greatest invention ever. When you look good, you’ll feel good, and when you feel good, naturally, you’ll feel confident about yourself, boosting up your self-esteem. I mean, let’s be honest. How many of us are actually contented with the way we look. Some may complain about their eyes being so bald simply because they are born with short eye lashes. Some may complain about their imperfect skin tone, could be because of permanent scars or oily skin. So you see, we have to make the best of what we’ve got and I can’t think of anything else, besides expensive surgeries which is way too traumatizing. So I suppose, make up is the next best solution. Exploring make up colors gives me a sense of creativity. Hahaha.. see? It brought out a hidden talent in me! Okay, the truth is, it simply makes me feel good after a successful makeup session. Oh yes, just like a bad hair day, there's also a bad makeup day.

But I am one happy person right now since we are talking about my favourite topic - makeup stuffs because for my birthday this year, amazingly, all my gifts consists of makeup stuffs! Since I have quite a bit of makeup collections with me now, I am planning to offer some comments, basically to help you to keep your options open if you happen to plan to purchase the same ones as I have. How about that? A free service for the makeup lovers community. Of course, in return, I’ll be happy to hear from your comments too.

I would like to start off with some of the lip gloss and lip balms that I have in my collection…

I have always been a fan of Lip Ice especially on this particular one. I love the natural pink color that appears upon gliding it over my lips. In fact, there is a new edition now that comes with shimmer effects. Light shimmering though, so don’t expect it to glitter like some heavy gloss does. No heavy feeling at all on the lips. Love it, love it, love it!

At first I thought Maybelline Rose Red balm would give my lips a natural rosey red looking colour. However, it is a bit disappointing as upon application, the colour turn out to be very light. I thought it was a bit

deceiving judging from the packaging colour. Moreover, it says Rose Red. Oh well, I could still use this anyway for a quick touch up over any faded color lipstick on my lips.

I love this Lip Balm from Bodyshop – Born Lippy-Strawberry Lip Balm. It smells and tastes like strawberry, very smooth application and moisturizing indeed. It gives a shiny finishing. Some may not like it for the oilyness but to me, it doesn’t feel heavy at all despite the glossy effect. I like the light shiny pink results too. If only the application method was easier as you can see from the packaging, I have to use my fingers to dig in. I use this a lot anyway when I am in the office, as it’s small and could easily fit into my pockets.
<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I have learned a very valuable lesson recently and you know the saying that goes when you close one door, another opens ? Let me tell you this. It’s so true. Truly, this is about my feelings. I have learned that as humans, we are very likely to make mistakes, be it at work, or at home. But mistakes makes us wiser, that is; if we are acceptive towards the criticism that comes along our way. More significantly if we tell ourselves, we want to change. And so to me, the saying reflects here. Because I want to change my ways and I am allowing transformation to take place. Hence, when you close one door, another opens. When I am allowing myself to amend my ways of thinking over a failure or a disappointment that took place, I am allowing an opportunity to present itself at my door. And that opportunity is freedom and peace. Freedom because I am liberated from my negative thinking over any disappointments because at the end of day, my thoughts creates my reality and so I want to be in control of my reality. And peace, because I have found it within myself now and I have made this peace within me by accepting things the way they are. Whether or not it favors me or not, it does not matter anymore because I have learned that by acceptance, it removes my subconscious resistance and hence, making way for me to change first, to be selfless.
<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I have learned that our workplace is like our 2nd home, where we spend most of our valuable times working to achieve both the company and our objectives, from targets to the least demands which includes handling colleagues of different characteristics, of course with each individual bearing his/her own uniqueness. I have also learned that as much as we want our work place to be as harmonious as possible, sometimes situations happens and when that happens, you have no choice but to live with it and pray that one day things will change to be a better place. In short, it’s all about acceptance. Accepting the way it is and replacing negative thoughts with positive feelings and constantly pray for healing to take place and blessings to come.
<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I have learned also not to stay in the presence of people and situations that are emotionally and psychologically toxic. After all, toxic is harmful and so is negativity. If my surroundings are filled with negative energy, just like a consistent "black cloud", it is only fair for me to detach myself from this sort of energy and create some distance where I can reclaim my personal space, because sadly, negative people have no boundaries and have no respect for other people’s boundaries. In fact, it drains me PEMS - physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. But I hold no grudge, because I am accepting them just the way they are but with certain boundaries.
<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I have learned to laugh more and much more laughters to come into my life because it is worth it. Any and every situation can have its humorous side, provided we make way for laughters to fill in and only we, ourselves can make this change - even in the presence of negative people. Just a thought for the day.

What to do, sigh.. it’s either I’m pretty poor in time management or I am just really, am very busy. Not complaining here, just a thought - in fact a thought that comes with a certain level of contentment to which I feel I deserve a pat on my back now. Hey, it’s okay to praise yourself once in a while although there’s a saying that goes: Self praise is no praise at all.

In my case, I think it’s excusable. You see, being an employee during the day ( that comes with many responsibilities, commitments) and then a mother after working hours with a lot of house chores to accomplish, the weekly 2 hours Saturdays commitment to teach basic computer lessons to the less-fortunate students, and then on and off popping in my husband’s shop and then back to picking up little Rosemary and taking care of her… can be pretty challenging. But thanks to my in laws who’s always been there whenever the SOS calls comes to take care of Rosemary, so a pat on the back also goes to them for indirectly making these challenging tasks accomplished for both my husband and me! (Okay, another pat on the back for my husband who works very, very hard as well to fulfill his fatherly responsibilities)

So at this point, I am also thinking about all the single mothers/fathers out there. I cannot imagine how stressful it can be for a single parent to fulfill these challenging tasks single-handedly and with that, my hats off to you!....the silent and the unsung heroes. I don’t meant to start being emo here but I can’t help it when such thoughts crosses my mind. With that being said, I think I am going to complain less from now on about the lack of time and just be thankful and be blessed instead that I am given an opportunity to do all these challenging tasks with the help from families and friends. You know, how they say, it’s only when you become a parent yourself, you would understand the sacrifices and the love any parents would give to their children. Don’t you think it’s true? I think it is, and the same goes to grandparents' love.

Anyway, I am just writing all these jumbled up thoughts during my lunch time at work. I hope you are well and thanks for dropping my blog.
What a gloomy, rainy Friday morning. As I was driving to work, a couple of times my mind drifted away, imagining myself cuddling comfortably back in my bed, dozing slowly back to dreamland after reading and flipping through a few pages of my favourite bedtime story books - In grown up language literally means fiction books but not fairytale bedtime books if that's what you had in mind!! :) Anyway, reality hits in when I was almost reaching office. I was prepared to face the long day ahead of me, or .... was I not? Too early to tell.

As I got into the office, I suspect many of my colleagues would have shared the same imagination as I did while I was driving. You could tell from their expressionless face on a gloomy day.

I was hoping the gloomy mood to improve by lunch.

And guess what? I just came back from lunch and to make you feel better reading my depressing blog today, I had a reasonable nice big bowl of Asam Laksa at Pak Hainan with a cold glass of Teh Si. It was gooooood, considering also that it was a free lunch. *wink wink* LOL -never mind to those who didn't understood the winking part-

Okay, I have to be honest. My article is heading nowhere today simply because of these reasons:-

1) It’s a gloomy day
2) I am in the mood to go to sleep
3) I am so in need of a…… HOLIDAY!
4) Fine. If holidaying is impossible for now, then a massage would be good…. it’s nice to be pampered you know.
5) Shhhhh… my boss is not around today……so gotta admit, my level of concentration is very, very low. It’s like.. how I wished I took leave today instead of sitting here whining about how gloomy both the weather and rose’s weather are. Geez… I could be lazing either at home now or having a nice massage somewhere! Ahhh..what a nice 2 minutes of that thought....
6) ...and finally, I’m missing dance classes. Yeah, at the back of my mind, I am constantly thinking about my dancing classes. In case some of you who are not aware, I have to stop my dance classes for awhile now due to my commitments at home after work. Time is so limited.

Arrgggh….with so many things on my mind, now you know why I can’t come up with a proper article today. If some of you are feeling the same way as I am now, then “Welcome to the Club* Don't feel too bad, you are not alone! Hahaha..

Arite friends, you know what, it’s weekend. Let's cheer up okay. Here are my list of wishful wishes for all of us for the weekend; May we all be in a better mood tomorrow, May the day be brighter and livelier tomorrow, May all of us find peace in our weekend routine activities and last but not least, May the force be with you!

How time flies! Little Rosemary will be celebrating her first birthday next month. As I am planning to celebrate her very first birthday, I decided to take a look back at the pictures of her newborn and and how amazing it is to watch my child grow, though I must admit, it was accompanied with mixed up feelings – worries, anxious, happy… oh well, you know what I mean!

Just to share with my readers, here are some of the pictures from the time she was born and pictures taken up to date. I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I did.
Alright...that's all for now.. :) Have a great day!
Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07943118717128164575noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6709309409245479107.post-70535069663477511642010-08-12T17:32:00.002+08:002010-08-12T18:01:53.061+08:00Narrow MindedFirstly, my sincere apologies for being silent for quite some time as I have been quite busy lately. Plus I was on leave since Monday with quite limited internet access.

Anyway, today, I wish to talk about interacting with narrow-minded people. Have you dealt with people who simply can’t take small critics?

For instance, when you tell them something about them directly to them, (but in the nicest way) they quit talking to you after that because they got offended though any one with some common sense would know that you are actually doing them a favor by telling them straight forward than to bitch behind their back!. So here’s the outcome: they quit talking to you. Ok, fine, they got angry. They cried their heart out because they are under the category of extremely emotional people. In a simpler term: hyper-sensitive type of person. So now, each time they see you from afar, they quickly turn their face elsewhere so that by the time you are near them, it’s like a mutual understanding: I didn’t see you, I don’t have to say hello. Perhaps you have become like a danger zone to them. Any nearer, it can be harmful.

Yes, I am smiling as I just typed that, hey not because I am mean! It’s just that I find it so ridiculous and in a way, funny too. Ok, maybe I am being just a bit mean now bitching about it here but I have already tried being as nice as I can by approaching that person!! OK in case you have my doubts on my story, here’s what has happened: -

NML (narrow minded lady) speaks quite rudely over the phone many times with anyone except with the bosses. Some others have complained about her phone etiquettes to me. And after experiencing it many of times myself, I’ve decided to call her back (just a minute after taking her rude call) and explained to her that her voice, her tone and her way of speaking over the phone is very rude and people who do not know her might mistaken her as a very rude, nasty person. By the way, she picks up incoming calls for the company and no, angry and nasty is not her nature ( I would like to believe that ) in case if you are thinking of that, because I’ve seen her in her jolly mood – totally different from the rude phone calls incidents. Meaning to say, she can choose to be nice over the phone if she wants to because she’s not a gloomy person. If she’s under stress, then I would like to suggest her to read my article on handling stress. I found out later that after the conversation with me, she slammed the phone down and started crying. I was like… huh????

I wish I do not have to be involved at all in this matter but, what can I do? My boss told me recently that I need to assists him with some human resource tasks and having said that, sadly it involves phone etiquettes as well. Hence, I have no choice. It’s either me or my boss to tell her. I honestly thought I did her a big favor by approaching her before my boss does. But of course, in this proven case, NML is not happy and in fact is keeping a grudge against me despite my soft approach. Perhaps, I should not approach her anymore on any other issues in the future. Perhaps, approaching my boss directly would be a better solution. As much as I would like to go up to her again and explain that I am not here to find trouble with her, my inner voice tells me not to. Let them be for it’s better to stay away from Narrow minded people.

I would like to share on something really important and useful to all my lady friends. Recently, while in a clinic, a leaflet on the counter caught my eyes and so I went closer to read the contents. It says in bold “In Malaysia, cervical cancer is the 2nd most common cancer affecting women.” A picture showed a solemn little girl with her sad daddy looking over a birthday cake on the table with a card that says… I love you mummy. And at the bottom of the picture says, “Honey, we still miss you everyday… Happy Birthday”

That was it. The entire message was too much for me but still, the urge of wanting to know more about this leaflet was strong. So, I took the leaflet and decided to read through the contents. What I found out from the leaflet is alarming.

In 2002, cervical cancer accounted for 12% of all female cancer in Malaysia. See the chart below to get a better idea of how disturbing the figure is.

And the second point says, virtually, every woman is at risk of cervical cancer, regardless of age or lifestyle.

So to say, you can be living a very healthy lifestyle and yet, you can be still at risk. Scary isn’t it, I thought to myself. I continued reading and came to know that cervical cancer are commonly caused by a virus called “high risk” HPV (Human Papillomavirus) that can be passed from one person to another during sex , though not necessarily. It can even be transmitted through just genital skin to skin contact. And here’s the strange thing. At least half of sexually active people will have HPV at some point in their lives and some leads to cervical cancer. To the lucky ones, this is because the body’s immune system gets rid of the HPV infection naturally within 2 years. However, in some cases, the infection persists and thus, leads to the risk of progression to cervical cancer. And I thought to myself again, why take the risk? Because I can actually be protected against the cancer causing HPV by just taking the vaccination. Yes, I thought to myself. It’s about time I should start taking control of my health and be a more responsible person. I have a daughter now and the picture shown on the leaflet sort of in a way, gave me a ‘wake up call’. I decided to proceed with the vaccination.

If I could recall correctly, a friend of mine who went for this vaccination previously told me that the vaccination (per jab) could range between RM 300 – RM 400. But guess what? This clinic charges only RM 200 per jab. In total you would need 3 jabs. The second jab should be given one month after the 1st jab. And the 3rd jab, 6 months after the 2nd jab. If you wish to go to this clinic, please let me know and I’ll provide you with the details.

So back to the story, when I consulted my doctor, she told me that even in schools now, they are giving out HPV vaccination for girls as young as 9. Some parents are outraged by this because they felt that it is not necessary for a 9 year old girl to get such vaccination. But I think should they be briefed properly on the intentions, these parents may change their mind and look at it at a different perspective.

My doctor told me that by providing vaccination to school girls, even as young as 9, allows the immune system to be activated before she's likely to encounter HPV. For example, if an adult, assuming at the age of 31 obtains vaccination, the level of protection is perhaps only at about 80% comparing to a school girl who gets vaccinated at say, age 13, could increase their level protection up to 90%. In short, vaccinating at a younger age allows for the highest antibody levels because the higher the antibody levels, the greater the protection is.

Here’s the thing, ladies:

CERVICAL CANCER is preventable. It is the easiest female cancer to prevent, provided with regular screening tests and follow ups. It is also highly curable if found and treated early.

And as a woman myself, I realized that since I came to know of this now, I cannot be ignorant about it. It is only right that I should help to create awareness on this issue. Actually the truth is, each one of us have this important role to play in saving women from contracting cervical cancer. I plead you to read on more on this, do research and more importantly, to consider the vaccination.

Some other information that is crucial to all of us.

There are 2 type of tests that can help to prevent or detect cervical cancer.

1) Pap Smear, advisable to be done 3 days after your period is completely cleared.
2) The HPV test. Talk to your doctor about whether this test is right for you.

If you

1) Do not have regular Pap Tests
2) Do not follow up with your doctor if you had a pap test result appearing not normal
3) Smoke
4) Sexually active with more than 1 partner….

then, you are under the category of high risk.

What is worrying is there are no signs or symptoms for early cervical cancer. But, should you experience bleeding of discharge from the vagina, which you know is not normal, especially bleeding after sex, then go and check with your doctor immediately. And this information was again typed bold in the leaflet, so ladies, we must take note on this.

I think I have summarized what I read in the leaflet together with my other resources to a pretty short informative article here. If you want, you may pass this article on to your girl friends and family members. After all, sharing is caring. Value & take control of your life before it’s too late. This is in fact a reminder to myself as well.
What happens next? You are becoming stressful. And then you start to reflect on your whole days work.. why is it that you can’t get the job done, why this and why that and slowly but gradually you realized it's because there were many interruptions in your work flow. And for that.. got you even more stressful!

Okay, so don’t get me wrong here. I won’t be able to help you out on those work flow issues. I suppose that is all about time management and believe me, even I am still learning on that after being a secretary for more than 10 years now! What I would like to talk about today is on how to cope up with stress, be it the type of unnecessary stress, you asked for it stress, unavoidable stress or give it to me stress. (this is where you are the type of person who do not know how to say No) Yup, I want to talk about it because the truth is, I too have been pretty stress at work lately and so by talking about it, in a way, I am actually de-stressing. Yep, that is right. One of the method of de-stressing is by writing it out. Oh well, at least it works for me!

If writing is not your type, you may want to consider these then. Firstly, if you are very stress and you feel that your head is going to explode but because you are in the office, and there’s nothing much you can do about it except for to keep it within you. (For the sake of being professional) Therefore, one effective way to de-stress is try walking over to the pantry to make yourself a nice cup of coffee or tea. Okay, here's the trick. You gotta walk slowly because if you walked fast, you are indirectly creating stress to yourself again (remember the unnecessary stress type?). So, walk slowly and go indulge yourself with a nice cup of coffee/tea. When I say indulge, it basically means, you stand there.. take your time to make the coffee/tea, whichever you prefer, and appreciate the aroma while sipping it. Once you are done with that, now take your time to walk back slowly to your work station. Believe me, that 5 minutes break will really help a lot.

In fact, by just watching this lady sipping on to her coffee makes you feel kinda loosen up isn't it. AAaaaaaaahhhh...

Okay, say you are still stress. Now, don’t you go worrying about it because the key is, don’t keep thinking about the stresses!! So back to the you are still in a stressful situation. Trust me it helps on this. Turn on your PC speakers and listen to some songs. This is good because you get to work while listening to your favorite music. Okay fine. You don’t have speakers. Now, that’s too bad. But hey don’t worry! You can always do things that may soothe you after working hours.

Point is, don’t worry too much because if you do, you are basically welcoming stress with wide open arms. Remember give it to me stress? I always find that by keeping some time for myself does make me feel better because I get a chance to do things that I like, for myself. So after work, how about pampering yourself with a long warm bath. Some friends that I do know of, shower for less than 5 minutes! Unless you are in a hurry, why not try to learn to appreciate and enjoy the long warm bath? You owe it that much to your aching tension muscles. Even better if you use those sort of soothing aromatherapy shower gel like Lavender or Rose scented type. Trust me, it really works!

You may want to try exercising too. I actually felt the difference when I don’t exercise. That is why as busy and hectic my schedules are, I keep Thursday nights free and that is for my dance class. I found out that exercise releases endorphins, they call it the “happy hormones,” and that is why you WILL feel the difference after a good workout. Of course to practice this healthy habit, you have to be really, really disciplined to push yourself to kick start it.

Point is, we all have to find things that we love to do to de-stress. If we were to keep thinking about our problems and the stress till late nights and it snowballs till the following day, these problems will not go away. When you are stress, you can't think of solutions.
