Petrino Fired as Coach

2012-04-10T19:40:00.001-07:00

Bobby Petrino has been terminated as head football coach at the University of Arkansas, effective right away, the school's athletic director told reporters Tuesday. Petrino had recently been placed on paid administrative leave last week after it has been exposed he had not disclosed that a 25-year-old female member of his staff has been on his motorcycle with him when it crashed on April 1.

"Coach Petrino knowingly misled the athletics department and the university about the circumstances related to his accident," Jeff told journalists. Though the 51-year-old coach had "multiple opportunities" over four days after the accident to be forthcoming, "he chose not to."

Long said Petrino had a "consensual relationship" along with Jessica Dorrell, the coach's passenger on the motorcycle when it crashed. He added that Petrino had given Dorrell $20,000 and failed to disclose their relationship when recommending her for the job with the section, thereby giving her "an unjust and undisclosed benefit for a position on his football staff."

Dorrell, Long said, was one of 159 applicants for the job.

He called Petrino's behavior "reckless and unacceptable."

Netflix Popular recommendation

2012-04-09T18:41:00.001-07:00

Netflix recently raised the hood on its suggestion algorithm, which helps folks who use that video-streaming service to find movies and shows in which they will may not know about but that they would like.

The most interesting stat the company detailed on its corporate blog: 75% of the videos individuals watch are found via some kind of recommendation that the company utilizes on its apps and website. That signifies most pieces of content people end up watching on Netflix are found with the help of a personal computer picture that thinks it know what you want to watch - or via Facebook, for folks outside the United States (Netflix doesn't connect with Facebook in the U.S. because some say the Video Privacy Protection Act prohibits video rental records from being shared. There is some confusion over when and how that law applies.)

In any event, here's what Netflix has to say about the popularity of its digital recommendations:

We have adapted our personalization algorithms to this new scenario in such a way that now 75% of what folks watch is from some sort of recommendation. We reached this point by continuously optimizing the member experience and have measured significant gains in member satisfaction whenever we improved the personalization for our members.

That's pretty remarkable. But the company admits it still has some kinks to work out.

One of them: Tailoring recommendations to individual Netflix users instead of to the entire household. Often, a family will sign up for a single Netflix accounts, so recommendations at times get muddled between what mom, dad and the kids want to watch. Netflix says in its Friday blog post that it addresses this issue by showing a "diversity" of content that would be appropriate for any member of the family.

It is essential to keep in mind that Netflix’ personalization is intended to manage a household that is likely to have different folks with diverse tastes. That is why when you see your Top 10, you are likely to find out items for dad, mom, the kids, or the whole family. Even for a single person household we want to appeal to your range of interests and moods. To achieve this, in numerous parts of our program we are not only optimizing for accuracy and reliability, but also for diversity.

Do you use Netflix's suggestion engine - or others just like it on sites like Amazon? If so, what do you think? Where do these equations tumble short and whenever have they gotten it right?

Facebook Buys Instagram for 1 Billion dollas

2012-04-09T18:19:00.000-07:00

Facebook has decided to buy photo sharing network Instagram for $1 billion in a combination of cash and stock, the company announced Monday.

It really is Facebook's greatest acquisition ever, in both price and achievement. With about 30 million active users, Instagram has the largest target audience of any startup Facebook has bought, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a blog post.

"We don't plan on doing many more of these, if any at all," Zuckerberg wrote. "But providing the best photo sharing experience is one reason why so many people love Facebook and we knew it would be worth bringing these two companies together."

Started in 2010 by Mike Krieger and Kevin Systrom, Instagram has just a handful of employees assisting its wildly popular photo app, that lets users add distinctive filter systems and graphic flair to photos they've clicked on their smartphones.

The long-awaited Android version, launched last week, racked up more than 1 million downloads in just 12 hours. The release also met a backlash from iPhone users, who loved having an unique hold on the stylish service.

Merely one month ago, Instagram's creators stated they had no interest in selling.

"We're pretty focused on remaining an independent company right now," Instagram cofounder Systrom told CNNMoney at South by Southwest, where the company delivered a talk on its wild growth.

Even several of Instagram's buyers were startled by the takeover. Late last week, Instagram closed a $50 million funding round that valued the company at $500 million, according to a source involved in the deal.

Those investors essentially doubled their money, immediately.

Facebook wants to scoop up hot online companies, kill their products, and redeploy their staff on other jobs. That's definitely not the plan for Instagram, all the players insist.

"It's important to be clear that Instagram is not going away," Instagram's founders wrote on their company blog. "We'll continue to add new features to the product and find new ways to create a better mobile photos experience."

Zuckerberg hard pressed the point.

"We're committed to building and growing Instagram independently," the CEO said. "Millions of people around the world love the Instagram app and the brand associated with it, and our goal is to help spread this app and brand to even more people."

Facebook, which is in the process of going public, ended 2011 with a cash stash just shy of $4 billion.

It's paying large price for a startup that has lots of buzz but no business model. Here's a fun assessment: Yahoo (YAHOO, Fortune 500) paid out just $35 million Seven years ago for Flickr, which stays one of the Web's most well-known photo networks.

Instagram is a free app and doesn't demand for any of its services. The company's founders insisted that would come in time, once they'd built a sizeable consumer base.

Instagram was their 2nd stab at a product. Before "pivoting" to create the wildly popular photo sharing app, the crew was working on a check-in program called Burbn.

"I remember what I'll call 'pivot day.' We sat down and said 'what are we going to work on next? How are we going to evolve this product into something millions of people will want to use?'" Systrom said last year. "What is the one thing that makes this product unique and interesting?"

The solution they hit on was "photo sharing," and the result was Instagram.

Taal Volcano: Alert level 1

2012-04-09T07:33:00.000-07:00

"Alert Level 1" stays in effect over Taal Volcano, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) noted on Sunday.

Despite the fact that there is no imminent dangerous eruption, Phivolcs reminds the community to avoid coming into the Main Crater as unexpected steam explosions may occur and high concentrations of toxic gases may accumulate in the location.

"The northern portion of the Main Crater rim, in the vicinity of Daang Kastila Trail, may also become dangerous when steam emission along existing fissures all of a sudden increases." Phivolcs wrote.

This added that it discourages long lasting settlement in the Volcano Island as it is a Permanent Danger Zone.

Taal Volcano is located in Batangas and is one of the most active volcanoes in the Philippines. There has been overall of 33 registered substantial eruptions at Taal since 1572.

Black Saturday: Philippines

2012-04-06T05:48:00.002-07:00

It has always been a tradition in the Philippines to celebrate the Black Saturday the day after Good friday in which many catholic believe is the death of our Lord Jesus Christ. It has been a tradition to go to a beah and perform the so called Sabado De Gloria.

Many devotees, especially those who own images depicting the Passion of Christ, will also be busy preparing for the Holy Wednesday procession on Tuesday, particularly in the provinces of Bulacan, Iloilo, City, Marinduque, Pampanga, Rizal, and Laguna, as well as in many towns in Metro Manila, where grand processions are traditionally held every Wednesday and on Good Friday.

Holy Saturday commemorates the day that Jesus Christ lay in the tomb after his death, according to the Christian bible. It is the day after Good Friday and the day before Easter Sunday. It is also known as Easter Eve, Easter Even, Black Saturday, or the Saturday before Easter.

Tiger Woods Golf Big Miss

2012-04-06T05:36:00.001-07:00

Win at Bay Hill like it was 2000, have the world thinking a fifth green jacket's yours for the taking, then show up at the Masters and hit it like it's the bad old days of 2010?
If we're to accept that the majestic ball-striking of two weeks ago represented a watershed in the Sean Foley era — or, a return to the best of the Butch Harmon era — then what are we to make of what happened in Thursday's first round of the Masters?

See the best images from the first round at Augusta.

Snap hook after snap hook off the tee, scrambling pars, two penalty drops, miscues on the par fives and a bogey-bogey finish.
The only logical conclusion is that it's all between his ears.
That the great Tiger Woods isn't a machine, but — like the rest of us — not as strong as he'd like to be.And maybe that he — like us — is still looking for the champion he used to be, wondering if he'll ever find him again.
But it's been 18 months since he started working with Foley, and two years — to the week — since he left Haney twisting in the wind, 'til the coach finally resigned (though he'd really already been fired).

It's true that Woods regressed as a driver of the ball under Haney, but two years later and it's still really all Hank's fault?
"Some of my old stuff from a few years ago," he said. "I've had to try and kind of work through it, and every now and again it pops up, and today it popped up a little bit."
It just pops up? He has no control over it at all?
He certainly didn't on the first tee.
Paul Casey, Brandt Snedeker and Ben Crane walked out onto the balcony of one of the Augusta National cottages to get a good look at Woods' opening drive, thinking — like the swollen galleries around the tee — they were about to see some history.
Their problem was they looked down the fairway.
There were audible groans when Woods hit a snipe hook that wouldn't have gone beyond the ceremonial drives hit by the honorary starters Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, who opened the 76th Masters a couple of hours before.
It was a wounded duck, low and left and pinballing around in the trees. A hole that can sometimes be reached with a pitching wedge required a fairway wood layup.
But Woods escaped with par. Not that it settled him down as he was at it again on the second, sniping one into a creek, leaving him with a penalty drop behind a tree and a long, long way to the green.
He again saved par on the par-five, but he's got to know there's no winning a major with this kind of hacking.
"On this golf course, you are not in the right place from the tee, you have nothing to do here," said Woods' playing partner, Miguel Angel Jimenez, who was up for the challenge and beat Woods' score by three.
If there was a silver lining for Woods, it was that he got away with a round that could've been much worse; so bad he'd be virtually out of the running.

"I could have probably got one, maybe two more out of that, but that was about it," he said. "Today I squeezed a lot out of that round. Didn't hit it very good at all."
Then came one of those moments Haney details in his book, when Woods paints an absurdly rosy picture he doesn't really believe.
"My commitment to each and every shot — what I was doing, my alignment, my setup, everything — was something that I'm excited about and I can take some positives going into tomorrow," he said.
Positives that he did all he could've done, yet still hit the Big Miss?
Not surprisingly, Woods headed straight to the range after his media interview and stayed there for hours, pounding balls under Foley's watchful eye.
But, honestly, is that the answer?
He had two weeks to prepare for that opening drive, yet fluffed his line.
Maybe the Big Miss is actually more of a mental problem.
Whatever, he needs to figure it out.
Westwood's playing like a man on a mission; a man who's tired of being left out of the conversation when discussions turn to the best golfer in the world.
And Woods' two pre-tournament rivals, Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson, both came back from what could've been disastrous starts to also remain in the reckoning.
Time, in every sense, is not on his side.

Bobby Petrino: Motorcycle Accident

2012-04-06T05:25:00.001-07:00

Arkansas put football coach Bobby Petrino on paid leave Thursday after he failed to disclose he had been riding with a female employee half his age when his motorcycle skidded off the road over the weekend — an accident that prompted him to apologize for that and for what he described as a "previous inappropriate relationship."

Petrino said then that he had spent Sunday with his wife, Becky, at a lake and was going for an evening ride.

Petrino said in the report that wind and sun caused the accident. The police report said Petrino and Dorrell were taken by a passer-by from the scene of the accident to a shopping center in southeast Fayetteville, where a state police officer took Petrino to the hospital.

The police report said Dorrell wasn't taken to a hospital, and that she was dropped off at her vehicle at the shopping center.

Petrino, who wasn't wearing a helmet, was hospitalized, but has since returned to practice. He will not be cited for the accident that occurred near the small town of Crosses on a road popular with motorcyclists. Petrino has said he has been an avid rider since he was 10, and the Helena, Mont., native said several years ago that he owned a Harley-Davidson and four other motorcycles.

Petrino just completed his fourth season with the Razorbacks, who have developed into a national contender under his watch. He's 34-17 in four seasons at the school, 21-5 over the last two, and the Hogs finished last season ranked No. 5 after losing only to national champion Alabama and runner-up LSU.

What a Filipino Christmas is??

2011-12-23T23:19:00.000-08:00

On Christmas eve, family members partake of a sumptuous Filipino meal by twelve midnight, called noche buena. This usually comes after the entire family has attended a late evening mass or church service about an hour or so before midnight. The typical noche buena foods prepared on the table are: lechon, pancit, fried chicken, lumpia, rice, adobo, among others for the main course; desserts include halo-halo, rice cakes, ice cream, patries and cakes; drinks include soda, wine, beer, juice.

Noche buena is also an opportunity for family get together, opening of Christmas gifts, singing and story-telling. It is also a chance for kids to earn some money aside from toy gifts. In some homes, it is also one way to welcome the less-fortunate by inviting orphans or poor people to join in the Christmas celebration. Some carolers who raise funds for civic organizations are also welcomed and given donations (in cash or kind) into the home.

The noche buena could last until about four o'clock in the morning on Christmas day. The whole family will again attend mass or church service during the morning. When they go back home, the salu-salo (partaking of the meal) will continue. It is during Christmas day that some inaanak (godchildren) visit their ninong (godfather) and ninang (godmother). It is also the day for some families to hold grand reunions of extended family clan members (grandparents, grandchildren, cousins, uncles and aunts).

MO Twister Deny

2011-12-23T23:10:00.000-08:00

Mo Twister said he did not upload the newest video of him and ex-girlfriend Rhian Ramos that surfaced on YouTube earlier this week.

“I know so many theories are out there on how these videos are being uploaded online. I hope I can be as clear as possible that this is not my doing,” he wrote on his Tumblr page posted on Wednesday, December 21.

The video, which has already been removed from YouTube, showed the 34-year-old disc jockey and television host and the 21-year-old actress in an intimate moment.

'Not in my possession'

Mo explained the said video was not in his possession.

“This latest video was not one in my possession. It was not recorded on my laptop,” he said.
Mo further wrote: “These files are amongst some of our more private and intimate moments and right now, it looks like even though I ask beg the person to stop uploading these videos, it will not make a difference. I hope this will all end soon.”

Earlier this month, a video of Mo crying over the alleged abortion of Rhian surfaced online. Mo denied uploading the first video, explaining that he had deleted all his digital data before selling his laptop. He added that “apparently, someone ‘repaired’ the erased files/hard drive and uploaded some personal files of mine.”

Following the controversy, the Kapuso actress asked to take a break from showbiz. Last week, GMA-7 announced that Marian Rivera will take Rhian’s place in the upcoming primetime soap opera “My Beloved.”

Iran says it will not return US drone

2011-12-11T22:56:00.001-08:00

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran will not return a U.S. surveillance drone captured by its armed forces, a senior commander of the country's elite Revolutionary Guard said Sunday.

Gen. Hossein Salami, deputy head of the Guard, said in remarks broadcast on state television that the violation of Iran's airspace by the U.S. drone was a "hostile act" and warned of a "bigger" response. He did not elaborate on what Tehran might do.

"No one returns the symbol of aggression to the party that sought secret and vital intelligence related to the national security of a country," Salami said.

Iranian television broadcast video Thursday of Iranian military officials inspecting what it identified as the RQ-170 Sentinel drone.

Iranian state media have said the unmanned spy aircraft was detected over the eastern town of Kashmar, some 140 miles (225 kilometers) from the border with Afghanistan. U.S. officials have acknowledged losing the drone.

Salami called its capture a victory for Iran and a defeat for the U.S. in a complicated intelligence and technological battle.

"Iran is among the few countries that possesses the most modern technology in the field of pilotless drones. The technology gap between Iran and the U.S. is not much," he said.

Officers in the Guard, Iran's most powerful military force, had previously claimed that the country's armed forces brought down the surveillance aircraft with an electronic ambush, causing minimum damage to the drone.

American officials have said that U.S. intelligence assessments indicate that Iran neither shot the drone down, nor used electronic or cybertechnology to force it from the sky. They contend the drone malfunctioned. The officials had spoken anonymously in order to discuss the classified program.

But Salami refused to provide more details of Iran's claim to have captured the CIA-operated aircraft.

"A party that wins in an intelligence battle doesn't reveal its methods. We can't elaborate on the methods we employed to intercept, control, discover and bring down the pilotless plane," he said.

SMS Hoax - Pepsi HIV Contamination, Blood Infection

There has been an anti-Pepsi campaign that has been circulating through sms and even spreaded online via networking sites and local blogs.

The rumors said that the popular softdrinks - Pepsi has been contaminated with an HIV infections and that the total number of infected bottles are unknown and recalls cannot be made as the contamination area cannot be pinpointed.

According to reports, a worker that is closely working on Pepsi's pouring process had came out positive on HIV virus from its annual medical examination. Annual medical examination is mandatory on all companies nationwide.

One sms reads:
ALERT: JUST HEARD A PEPSI WORKER WHO AS INFECTED WITH HIV WAS PUTTING HIS INFECTED BLOOD INTO THE DAMN POP'S WHILE WORKING IN THE WARE HOUSE AND HE WAS EMPLOYED THERE FOR 5 YEARS! NASTY BASTARD NO MORE PEPSI FOR ME! SMDH PEOPLE)

A facebook status also had this message:
To all my fellow facebook friends n family please do not drink pepsi from tha bottles a company worker has put his contaminated HIV blood in some of tha bottles thanks

Is there any truths on this news?
We, at keywordspeak.com wants to retain the credibility of this site and this article only and plainly intends to inform that such news has been circlating online and offline, locally.

We cannot confirm where and who started this rumor, but it can be clearly known that this will hurt the sale of Pepsi and its related products even on small scale.

Pepsi Company in its official website's Frequently Asked Question or FAQ page has released this statement.

Is it true that Pepsi bottles / Tropicana packs were contaminated with HIV infected blood?
No, there is not even a shred of truth to this absurd story. This fake story is an attempt to malign the company's reputation.

Are Pepsi and Tropicana safe for consumption?
Please be assured that Pepsi and Tropicana are 100% safe; they are manufactured in fully automated plants, untouched by hand, that maintain global standards of quality and excellence. There is a fraud SMS being circulated raising concerns that Pepsi bottles and Tropicana packs are contaminated with HIV AIDS infected blood. This is absolutely untrue.

However, here are some facts about how HIV virus can be transmitted.

HIV virus can spread only (that's only) by Blood Transmission , Transfusion Unsafe Sex with an HIV positive. Through birth from HIV positive mother (wich is 70% preventable now). Experts even a dismissed mosquito bite as a mean to transmit it. HIV virus cannot live long in external environment and no ideal condition can keep it alive outside the victim's living cell. Its only survival habitat is a living blood. If the blood comes out and gets frozen or dissolved before entering another body the HIV virus surely dies.

Manage Diabetes in Proper Way

2011-05-30T01:56:00.001-07:00

The researchers all over the world are busy trying to find out the exact methods to manage diabetes. For, diabetes has assumed the settled form of a dreaded disease, not sparing children, pregnant women, adults and the old. The aged persons are the worst sufferers because it destroys the strength in their body at a rapid pace.

Scientists believe that environmental factors cause the immune system to destroy the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. When the insulin-producing cells are permanently destroyed, the only alternative for you is to provide insulin to the body through external resources such as injections! So, far no other remedy has been found!

There are two types of diabetes. Type I and Type II.
The former is incurable, and it will remain as your life-long partner- the most unreliable partner for that matter! Because many dreaded diseases are its likely companions. These dreaded companions will never shudder to attack you, should you be a bit less alert in taking care of your diabetes.

Type II is curable, it is reported that 9 out of 10 cases are successfully treated. There are certain preconditions however! You must have control over your diet and indulge in regular exercising. Consumption of alcohol as well as smoking is thoroughly prohibited. Body Weight Check is your watchword!

For type I, take 2 to 5 injections per day. Insulin has a dual function to play. It regulates both the blood sugar and the speed at which sugar moves into cells. But insulin is not to be treated as replacement for proper diet. The diet and exercise are the foundation stones for controlling diabetes. Insulin will have the favorable impact only after you take the necessary precautions.

With course of treatment of type I Diabetes, no chance can be taken. It is always to be considered as a dreaded disease and should be treated and respected as such. Some of the symptoms of your laxity of treating type I diabetes are continuous need to urinate, excessive thirst, weakness, coupled with tiredness, urinary tract infections, blurred vision and numbness in the feet.

If Type I diabetes is not treated and looked after properly, it is not a life and death situation, it is life or death, and chances for the later are more!

In truth, most of the notices these days are fairly bland, either an indication you owe a bit more in tax or are due a refund that you otherwise were unaware of. Regardless, most people will open such notices because nobody wants to blow off the IRS. That can only lead to trouble down the line.

Email scam artist focus their efforts on trying to get gullible people to respond to their various nefarious efforts. Obviously, they have realized that most people are sensitive to communications from the IRS. In email terms, this means people will more likely than not open the emails to at least read them. In a number of instances, unwise individuals will actually respond to the alleged IRS communication. Given this scenario, it is surprising that there aren't more scam emails coming out using the IRS name.

The latest scam going around involves the electronic tax payment system. The system was setup by the IRS to allow people to pay taxes online, which is convenient. Frankly, it has been a smashing success. Alas, the scammers have figured out a way to use it to their benefit.
The scam works like this. You get an email from the "Antifraud" division of the IRS. The email states that someone has tried to you a tax number assigned to you and deposited cash in the account. The IRS has then frozen the money, but you can get it back by clicking on the provided link. The page that pops up then asks you to verify your identity by providing a lot of sensitive personal information the scammer can use to steal your identity. Yes, we are talking identity theft here.

If you know anything about the IRS, the scam is a bit ambitious. First, there is no "Antifraud" division at the IRS. Second, the IRS never sends email to taxpayers, not even during an audit. NEVER! Third, why would someone steal a tax identification number and then deposit money to the IRS using it? Criminals are stupid, but come on!

Here is the simple rule you should keep in mind to avoid this and all other scam emails using the IRS name. They are ALL frauds. The IRS never sends email to taxpayers. Let me repeat that. The IRS never sends email to taxpayers. Anything you receive in your inbox that purports to be from the IRS is not legitimate. Learn it, live it, love it!

Build A Content Site With More Repeat Visitors

2011-05-24T04:29:00.001-07:00

On the internet, content is known as "the king". People visits a site not for the flashy graphics nor the wonderful website designs, but because of the information they learn from the website.

Having high quality content not just attract visitors, it also attracts search engines to visit your sites more and increase your search engine placements. However, in order to get more traffic that can turn into money, you'll need repeat visitors who are eager to read your new update on your content site.

Therefore, your website should have rich, premium, informative content to capture repeat visitors and more search engine traffic.

Here are some simple tips that would help you build a content site that can attract more repeat visitors:

- Make sure your website's layout is simple and easy looking to the visitors' eyes. Don't add too many flashy features in your webpage to disturb your visitors's focus when they are reading on your content.

- Always remember the most important part in your content is the headline and the first few paragraphs. Whether your reader will read on or not heavily depends on the attractiveness on these parts. Always try to capture their interests and give them what they want to know.

- Update your website with fresh new content frequently. When your visitors revisit your site and find you have not add new content, they will visit elsewhere immediately. And if this situation goes on, they will not visit your site again. Besides, search engines love websites that update content frequently, and give them higher search rank.

- You should consider to use blogs. Blogs are very easy to set up and update. Once you have entered your entries, all you have to do is to click a button to publish them. And blogs are getting indexed fast and easily in most search engines!

Content is king, and you can take benefit from it easily!

New Marketing And Promotional Ideas

2011-05-23T03:33:00.001-07:00

New marketing and promotional ideas! Free! Most are related to internet-based businesses, but even those can usually be adopted in some way to other businesses. Here are half a dozen marketing ideas to get you thinking.

A one-hour coupon. Offline businesses that want to increase the traffic to their websites can announce an "internet coupon" good for a free drink (or whatever). The coupon would be up on the site for an hour, sometime on a Friday, say. Visitors will return again and again to try to be there at the right time to get the freebie. If you collect pay-per-click advertising fees, this repeat traffic might be especially profitable.

Free gift article teaser. A free gift is certainly not a new marketing idea, but it hasn't been done much in internet article "resource boxes." My click-throughs from articles increased when I started putting in the author's resource box, "For more information and a free gift, visit..." The gift is usually a short course, or an e-book. If you don't want to write an e-book, you can find one with free distribution rights.

Word links for sale. Maybe you have heard about the entrepreneur that sold a million pixels on one web page for a dollar each. Advertisers could buy a minimum of 100, and the image would link to their site. I've seen many copycats, but I haven't yet seen anyone selling words. This could be even better for advertisers, because they could buy the words that are relevant to their products. A page full of random words isn't pretty, but these things get publicity and traffic for their novelty.

Product user contests. If you have a product that's used in many ways or many places, this is a great promotional gimmick: a contest to see who has used their cell phone, watch, or whatever in the wildest place or the most unusual way. ("I took my walkman to the north pole!") Customers could post their stories and photos directly to your company web site. They wiould return repeatedly to see new stories, and the results of the competition.

Advertising on cereal boxes. A lot of time is spent staring at cereal boxes. Perhaps you could get a good rate on advertising on them. There have had some advertising, but no boxes covered in ads yet. Brokering ad space on cereal boxes could be a good business to get into.

Pay for article placement. Many of us distribute articles to generate traffic to our web sites, and many also pay to advertise. Since articles are especially good marketing tools, why not pay to have other webmasters put them on their sites? This is done for free now, but not often enough. Maybe offer a small one-time fee, with a minimum time commitment. Explain that leaving the article there forever can generate search engine traffic.

Put ads on private cars, advertising on sidewalks, have a contest to see who can get your product mentioned on and seen on TV - there are endless possibilities for new marketing and promotional ideas.
