Review: I became a fan of Julie Kagawa from the moment I read The Immortal Rules. What I didn’t know was that The Lost Prince – Iron Fey series was such a delightful read. I am totally in-love with her stories and characters. As many of you may already know,  I am not a big fan of YA since a lot of the characters and stories seem to fall under the same category (boring and whining teenagers who complain a lot).

I am glad Julie Kagawa has change the way I view YA and it has made of me a believer of YA Fantasy. The Lost Prince is a great read and one that will open your eyes to the world of Fantasy and Magic. This is the first book of  The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten Series and one I am sure will be as popular as her other books ( Iron Fey Series: Iron King / Queen). Julie Kagawa has an awesome and very imaginative way of world creation. The fae and faeries were never something I was interested in reading about, but now I am hooked.

The plot is quite catchy and entertaining from the moment you start reading. Her knack for writing a great introduction is what drove me to keep reading. The story is filled with great characters and a very descriptive and entertaining plot. The story is told from Ethan’s POV. Ethan is Meghan’s brother and we get to see and experience the world of the Fae as he sees it. I couldn’t help but feel enthralled by the descriptions, the poetic beauty of the Fae and the evil that can be hidden behind such  beauty. Julie Kagawa imagination is limitless; she has created a world in which humans and fantasy can coexist but not without tremendous consequences.

Ethan Chase has been part of that world, but he doesn’t have to accept it. Ethan’s character is mature beyond his years. I like how he handles his “gift” and how he fights to control what seems to be always out of control – his life. It is under during his struggles to control his life that he meets McKenzie. McKenzie is a stubborn, high spirited teenager who never takes No for an answer. Her pushy and strong personality gets under Ethan’s skin more than he liked to admit. It is that way that a friendship starts to develop. I enjoy how well and in tuned McKinzie’s character was. She is definitely a spunky, strong willed young woman who knows that to get what you want you must go after it, that to see the world you have to open your eyes to it. Readers will love her and her attitude.

The Lost Prince is an awesome read and a fantastic addition to the Iron Fay stories and characters. Julie Kagawa is a gifted author, capable of creating fantastic stories with unique characters that are able to transport anyone to the world that we have long forgotten, a world of fantasy and magic.

I highly recommend The Lost Prince. The plot will entertain you tremendously, and the characters will make you want to be part of their world. Be ready to be surprised, to laugh and to cry, this story has it all.

REVIEW: It is not surprise to anyone that I am a big fan of Jeaniene Frost. What is a surprise is to be a bit disappointed at one of her books. Once Burned is the spin off story to the Night Huntress Series (Cat & Bones). When I purchased Once Burned I was eager to start reading, and though I didn’t do it right away it was in the back of my head always pushing it to the top of my reading pile. When I was finally able to read it I went head first into the story.

Needless to say, I was in for a big surprise. This is the story of Vlad Tepesh (Dracula), the egotistic, insufferable and extremely sexy vampire who has sneaked into our hearts little by little.

Let’s move along now, while I enjoy reading the story, I was a bit disappointed at how the story flowed. Leila is an electrifying (literary) young woman who possessed an amazing gift. When she was little she had a terrible accident that left her with an ability many would kill for. As the story flows we are presented with Leila and the reason she is important to the villain. She works in a circus where others “freaks” are shown and where she isn’t judged by her ability. While I think her character was nice, I didn’t get the “awesomeness” I have come to expect from other character created by Frost.  Leila becomes the weapon needed to eliminate one of the most dangerous vampires of all times – Vlad.

Vlad as we know is an insufferable, egotistic vampire who believes he is the most extraordinaire vampire in existence and whose ego is bigger than his “personality”. Of course I liked him; I am usually biased when it comes to vampires. Though I have to give Frost credit, she always manages to bring us great characters with funny and strong personalities who can stand alone in their own right. I liked how well Frost developed these characters, and how normal and easy their dialoged felt.

Leila  struggles didn’t feel “real” and her inability to accept her mistakes was frustrating at times.  Though she had an amazing ability, sometimes it felt as if she would struggle forever and would never come to accept herself and her “gift”.

There is passion, and a lot of sexual tension, but there wasn’t love. These two characters had a connection, one that went beyond love. They learned to coexist and need each other in a carnal/passion level but were disconnected in matters of the heart.

I am not sure if my disappointment has to do with the no HEA or because I felt cheated by my high expectations. Overall, I enjoyed the book and I would totally go nuts again for any of Frost’s books. I am just hopeful that her next book brings the most needed satisfaction I crave for.

Review: It is not new to readers of paranormal romance that Jacquelyn Frank is the author of one of the hottest PNR series out there. She writes hot, emotion filled stories that brings the reader to their knees. Forbidden is the latest book and spin on her Nightwalkers Series.  As usual, Ms Frank writes beautiful prose that one can’t deny brings out raw emotions. Her ability for writing kick-ass prologues pretty much put her in the list of awesome authors.

The story starts by telling us about findings discovered by Gabrielle & Kestra, mates to the two most powerful demon Nightwalkers (Jacob & Noah), the start is intriguing and that was the necessary push I needed to devouring this book. The story then moves on to introducing us to Docia, a regular young woman with not much of an interesting life.  She is a loving sister, a caring person in general and shops at drifts stores. The plot then develops around the Bodywalker race  one that has existed for a very long time but pretty much unknown to the rest of the Nightwalkers.

As in every story there is always evil, the power-hungry villain who can’t seem to get enough from the suffering and destruction of others, the one who will not stop until all his/her enemies are destroyed.  What I like about Forbidden is that it brings history back and it gives us a different perspective on Ancient Egypt. The story is sexy and emotional; it entices us around the idea of eternal love.

The characters are sexy, intelligent and very likeable. Even the villain has a spot in my heart. I enjoy the way Ms. Frank introduces us to each character and how easily she sets their important in the series. I always enjoy how Ms. Frank puts the reader in the path to make conclusions, yet she also able to makes us second guess ourselves.  Readers will find the same quality in this book that they have found in all others of the Nightwalkers Series. The book has the necessary ingredients to keep you reading all night; it is descriptive, emotional & sexy. If your idea of Ancient Egypt is enigmatic, inciting and all big and mighty, you are in for an even bigger surprise. Body snatchers never been so deadly & looked sexier.

Docia is funny, adorable and mouthy I really enjoyed her playful spirit and her spunky yet innocent personality. Ram is strong, intelligent, agile and a total hunk. He is caring; he is loyal and very protective.  He is what every woman dreams of and what every man hates. Forbidden gives the Nightwalker series the necessary spin to spice it up and prove that the series is not yet coming to an end.

Review: Lustful Cravings is only 96 pages but do not let the length of the story fool you. This story introduces us to a new series that promises to be good. The plot isn’t complex yet it gives us a glimpse to what’s to come.

The Valendite Breed isn’t your typical vampire breed. There is uniqueness to them. They are known to exist yet the knowledge of their existence is well protected. They live and walk among humans and serve a very specific purpose. I liked the story because it is different from other paranormal vampire series I have read.  Their role is to help humans and their destiny is to find their mates which are possessed by one of the 7 deadly sins.

The Valendites Breed was created by scientists, genetically altered men for the main purpose of winning a war. These men were later given gifts that would change their future and the future of their species. I totally think this new concept of generically engineer sort of vampires brings the most needed change to an already saturated genre.

Madden is a very powerful breed and his power comes in many forms. He is in charge of an immortal organization that forms a secret branch under the CIA. One of his many talents is that he is immune to certain type of magic. Because of the nature in which they have lived and moved throughout the world the chances to finding a mate is slim. When he finds Layla he knows she is the one. Layla knows she found her mate when her body can hardly contain the lust she felt when she met eyes with Madden. I found these two characters so loving and cute. I totally enjoyed Layla’s character. She is smart, beautiful and sweet.  Madden is sexy, intelligent and very manly and will not stop until he has made Layla his mate. There is an awesome twist to this story; it will make the reader wish they had their own Tre Adoro.

The characters are likable, their dialog flows easily. There interaction is believable and their love and dedication to their mate will make your heart ache. I really enjoyed the author’s writing style. It is witty, imaginative and creative. I am looking forward to reading more from Paloma Beck an author you want to keep an eye on.

He brushed a soft kiss against her full lips before speaking, his voice husky with desire. “Take your tongue, Layla love, and touch it to my sharpest teeth. The blood exchange will bind us and I can take you then. Ho bisogno di te. Please don’t make me wait.”

Madden’s words were barely finished when he took her mouth again. Gently his tongue drew hers out, slowing to let her catch up to his need. When he felt the puncture wounds and tasted the first drop of her blood, he moaned low inside himself. He felt Layla tense at first and then soften her body as it settled into his own. Her moans began to mirror his. He could feel her desire as if it was his own, and it multiplied the urge to claim her and demand she submit to him as his mate.

Madden held back with every piece of control he had been trained to possess. This moment required him to remain in control, to ease her in the mating. He felt her pull away. Her body shuttered and a small whimper bubbled up from her throat. He was suddenly struck by her vulnerability.

“What’s happened, Madden? Why do I feel this way?” His Layla was frightened and he wanted nothing more than to comfort her. Her feisty golden eyes now appeared panicked. Madden couldn’t bear it.

“Layla love, we’re bonded now. You will forever feel what I feel just as I will feel the emotions inside of you. It is a powerful thing for mates. Review:  If I Were You is book one of the Inside Out Trilogy.  It is intriguing, suspenseful & sexy and one of those stories you start reading and suddenly you feel like you can’t let go.

The plot is one that will keep you on the edge of your seat.  The story develops easily and it flows naturally. The suspense does not feel forced and one is able to enjoy the bits of uncertainly that flows throughout the story.

I enjoyed how well thought out the story was and how well the characters fit in the story. Sara is a school teacher who lives a quiet and fairly boring life until her friend leaves a journal at her apartment and she starts reading it.

From the moment Sara starts reading the journal, the story takes a new spin and it turns into a beautifully written, deeply suspenseful story that you will not be able to put down. Add to that, sexy characters and what you get as a result is If I Were You. I can’t say how much I enjoy this book. Well done author Lisa Renee Jones.

The characters were engaging, witty and quite sexy. Their development was nicely throughout and felt almost real. Sara was innocent however not to the point where it would’ve been ridiculous. Chris is likeable and sexy. There isn’t anything you wouldn’t want to do to this man; he is passionate, considerate and sexual. The attraction between them was a lot more than just physical, their need and desires came from deeply inside, where heart, feelings and understanding can form a stronger  bond than that of the flesh.   There is nothing 50 Shades about If I Were You.

The sex scenes were nicely done, tasteful and quite hot. Though Sara is reluctant to submitting, she wasn’t afraid to experience Chris’s desires while keeping in check her limits. Even though Chris was battling  inside demons, he wasn’t afraid to show his feelings for Sara while making sure she couldn’t deny her attraction and need for him.

Even the enigmatic, sexy, rich and dangerous Mark added spice to this hot & satisfying read. His arrogant demeanor and controlling attitude add complexity to his character and suspense to the story. One don’t know if he is a good or a bad guy and that drove me to like him even more. I can’t wait to read more about him. He didn’t get enough action, I am hopeful the next book gives him the attention he deserves.  The need to know can easily turn obsessive not only for Sara but for the reader as well. I was almost biting my nail at some point. Great read.

Review:

The Angel is the second book in The Sinners series, and one that will give you as much satisfaction as the first book. I couldn’t be more pleased as how this story developed. If you  have already read The Siren you know that author Reisz prepared us for what seem like an unavoidable and tragic future for Soren and The 8 Cycle overall.

Author Reisz didn’t disappoint, she brought Nora with the same flirtatious, unrepentant and complex personality that we have come to love. The story follows the same flow as The Siren but with new conflicts, new secrets and fantastic discoveries.

I totally enjoyed how Reisz cam smoothly integrate characters to the story that add purpose and meaning to the plot. What I liked about The Angel is how Reisz is able to bring controversies that in terms allow us to sort of test our tolerance and acceptance. The Angel is Michael’s awakening and his time to experience what he has craved the most, love, attention and pain.

“Don’t laugh at me.” Michael buried his face into the pillow. “It’s rude to laugh at a dying man.”
“Poor little subby.” Griffin entered Michael’s bedroom grabbed a chair and sat next to the bed. “She nearly kill you last night?”

The Angel brings a new set of characters to play, and with that comes the conflict and drama that makes the story a page turner. There isn’t anything I don’t love about The Angel. Nora is in the path of understanding and accepting the inevitable and she has returned to Soren with a broken heart. Oh, the discoveries and confessions are another thing I enjoyed so very much. We learn new things about Soren, about Kingsley, Wesley & Nora.

Soren becomes a focal point in this story; it is something we didn’t get to see much on The Siren.  His character is so intelligent, imposing, strong, sexy and sinful that one can’t help but shy away from the things that come to mind (LOL).

“ I could be a thief. Or the bastard son of the pope. Both would quality as conflicts of interest. Why are you so certain the reason for my asterisk is sexual?” Suzanne thought about lying then had the feeling he’d see right through it.

“I suppose it’s because you’re so incredible attractive”

He laughed again, this time far more subtly.
“I find you attractive as well,”

Reisz did an amazing job displaying the fears and raw emotions from these characters that one can’t help but fall in-love with them. Her characters are strong yet they can be vulnerable because their fears, their love and emotions are what determined their level of loyalty. The secrets add a much dramatic and sensual edge to the story that keeps you reading all night. These characters radiate sensuality and are nothing less than addictive.

This is an intelligent and wicked sexy story that will keep readers asking for more. Be ready for the carefully and slow seduction into the world of The Sinners.
