"A documentary about conspiracy theories takes a horrific turn after the filmmakers uncover an ancient and dangerous secret society...." ~ The Conspiracy (2012)

HQ Thoughts: "We all love a conspiracy film every now and then and this doesn't fall short at all. I believe this documentary-like horror/thriller is executed very well in it's efforts of making you wonder if it's all a big sham or REAL!

Based on decades old rumors of secret societies and such; Jim and Aaron begins on their search for details about a secret society called the Bohemian Grove. It starts out with the typical information but moves into a very suspenseful and tense ending that had me doing a little research.

While the goal was to sneak into one of the induction ceremonies of this secret brotherhood, turns out- one of the more frequently mentioned secret societies (The Tarsus Club) is the real fucking deal, in real life everyone! I was shocked, creeped and left wondering if they did the ending any justice by acting out the last movements of what is said to be a true story.

This is a great film. Exciting and informative. Take notes and do some research after watching it, you'd be surprised what you find."

"MARCOS VELA is a prestigious gastronomic journalist who accepts the request of an independent publisher to write an article on the recent emergence of the Clandestine Restaurants..." ~ Omnivores (2013)

HQ Thoughts: "Eat first before you watch this culinary gore fest of a film. Touching everyone's nerve with the idea of an underground eating ring that enjoys to dine on, well, YOU.

Marcos is an established foodie writer who takes on a special writing project based on clandestine restaurants as mentioned above. What he didn't realize is the unconventional process in which they take to gather their goods.

He then meets a beautiful woman who guides him through intense relations and after experiencing a show based on wild eating habits and techniques he is now ready for the next step which leads him to dinner of a weird kind. Everything from that point on is not for the queasy at all.

Without giving too much, understand that this is a very tight knit organization that is almost impossible to escape so, after he indulges in what is the ultimate taboo, he comes up with a plan to fix the problem. Definitely a test of gore tolerance in this one. Very well executed nice ending."

"A young woman studying the habits of webcam chat users from the apparent safety of her apartment witnesses a brutal murder online and is quickly immersed in a nightmare in which she and her loved ones are targeted for the same grisly fate as the first victim." ~ The Den (2013)

HQ Thoughts: "Film is full with twists and turns with an ending that was unexpected and well thought out. I noticed a few reviews where some people weren't satisfied with the way this first person, live feed horror was executed but for a directorial debut- this was great!

ElizabethB is doing a study for her college that will require her to spend her waking moments on a website called The Den, where randoms are connected for chat and you never really know what you're going to get.

While working with her professors and friends on her thesis, she begins to run into some strange characters that immediately begin to raise eyebrows but as long as you're behind the screen- you're safe right? RIGHT?

Well, let's just say the people around her are slowly but surely getting hacked (no pun intended) and she starts experiencing a serious stalker issue after viewing what she believes to be a young girl getting murdered on live feed. She tries to get cops involved but the internet proves to be one big wide free ride of deviance and full of crazies.

This gave me Megan Is Missing (peep the review) for the most part but the outcome made this film one hell of an entertaining and questionable movie. At the end, I couldn't help but repeat that I liked that! It was entertaining and I know you guys would enjoy on a late night."

HORROR SHORT Summary:

THINGS THAT GO BUMP -- After a long day of moving Megan prepares for her first nights sleep in her new apartment; unaware this place houses a dark secret. Now all that stands between her and a living nightmare is a solitary beam of light.

"What fun! Visually slick with a delightful twist. Well done!" - Clive Barker after watching "Things That Go Bump"

HQ Thoughts: "Well, that was a pleasant surprise! R. Michael McWhorter of Tizzy Entertainment gave Weekend Horror the pleasure to present his short horror- Things That Go Bump for our audience to view and trust me when I say it has an awesome twist!

Horror shorts are a specialty in their own right only because the goal is to capture all of the elements of fear and/or disgust in a very short period of time and with a limited amount of dialogue. TTGB caught every bit of that including a bit of comedy and executed it amazingly!

As the summary states; Megan just moved into her own home and almost immediately she is bothered by a night demon that has something coming for him... Just watch!

We want to thank Mr. McWhorter & Tizzy Ent. for sharing!"

2013/USA-German/UR/Horror

"Journalist Anne Roland explores the disturbing links behind her friend's sudden disappearance, an ominous government research chemical, and a disturbing radio broadcast of unknown origin." ~ Banshee Chapter (2013)

HQ Thoughts: "WHAT A TRIP? I definitely went into this one blind enough to have to watch it twice. Might even make someone else watch it with me for a reason to see it again. It was great!

Anne Roland had a friend disappear rather unceremoniously after having a bad 'reaction' to a secret drug concoction created by none other than the ever so secret CIA.

In first person, we get to see the video with the last recorded remnants of her friend which features a shortwave radio, some crazy weird counting and a music box- I almost lost it! It took me out of character, my TV was on high and I just wasn't ready! I have a thing about voices, music, etc. I was definitely a target audience for this film. lol

She then takes it upon herself to begin doing some digging around that led her to Thomas Blackburn, a connoisseur of government conspiracies and such, and he takes her all the way left where she ends up coming face to face with the horror that it all really is. WOW!

Now, this film is based on true events; the MK-Ultra project which is a well renowned piece of the good ol' US of A history and unfortunately (or fortunately, if you've seen this film) they haven't made the screwed up, deviant, blatantly psychotic details public.

Upon my finishing of this very disturbed and creepy film. I commenced to sleeping with my TV on low just for a little light. I am not that easily swayed but this was original and scary. Give it a shot!"

Haunt: Yay To Creepy Love Stories!!!:
(Title LINK is English)
2013/USA/UR/Horror

"An introvert teen befriends his new neighbor, and together the couple begin to explore the haunted house that his family has just purchased." ~ Haunt (2013)

HQ Thoughts: "Boy meets girl with some pretty good horrific moments. A bit slow but I think worth the watch on a late night. Definitely going to get a few scares out of it!

Evan is sad because his family moved out of the city into a slow paced wooded area. The house is said to be haunted, so of course the parents took it on a good deal.

He eventually began to roam around the newly purchased premises and finds a girl (amazingly) sitting in the woods. Decisions here makes the film what is because I do believe any person in their 'right' mind would have just left it all alone- yet we will give him a pass for living in the boonies!

I just want to get a few PERSONAL concerns out about her before I move on. WHY IS SHE SO DAMN RUDE? (you'll see what I mean...)

She gets a LOT comfortable right away and they both start to look through the house to find a spirit communicator that works, and the good stuff begins. As hard as I tried to figure out the twist- I will say that this one stumped me until the very end...

This film is basically a horror/love story due to the character attachment you tend to inadvertently build as the film moves along. I actually enjoyed it for what it's worth.

I caught myself talking a lot at the screen and the ending left me stumped and mad and Grrr! Let's just say that. I think it's worth a watch. Not a bad film but could have definitely been better executed."

Lovely Molly (2011)<---- Click Me 4 Movie!!!!

SATURDAY- July 19th, 2014

Lovely Molly: WHAT JUST HAPPENED HERE???!!!:
(Title LINK is English)
2011/UK/R/Horror

"Newlywed Molly moves into her deceased father's house in the countryside, where painful memories soon begin to haunt her." ~ Lovely Molly (2011)

HQ Thoughts: "This movie is all mental, so don't expect too much of a gory story line. The directors have made it possible for the viewer to creep into the mind frame of a severely damaged woman, apparently by the hands of her now deceased father.

The main question of the film is whether or not her father's ghost has come back to continue wreaking havoc on her or is she clearly a sadistic drug addict reliving her horrible past on her own? Everything in her path crumbles as she witnesses more and more ghostly figures and violent entities.

I love a dark, cerebral film that keeps you guessing and Lovely Molly doesn't fall short with the questions throughout the film and at the end. Are her attacks hallucinations, as it is associated with psychosis and schizophrenia or is her dead tormenter on her back- again?

My only wonder is why she took the house in the first place, this film takes me places I wasn't ready to go and Gretchen Lodge gave a more than impressive performance as a very disturbed Molly, KUDOS!. It's a good watch!"

"Cheng Li-sheung is a young, upwardly mobile professional finally ready to invest in her first home. But when the deal falls through, she is forced to keep her dream alive - even if it means keeping her would-be neighbors dead." ~ Dream Home (2010)

HQ Thoughts: "This film does not automatically give you gruesome until you understand the plight of the protagonist in this film. Cheng is looking for a new home where big is better.

She makes her rounds looking for a good deal and when she finds the seller- she does whatever she can to maintain that connection, even when it means to knock out the competition and BOY does she. Unfortunately, she loses out and eventually loses her mind. This is CRAZY!

My focus on this film is the sheer brutality and utter realness of the deaths that are beyond my wildest imagination. Nobody is safe around this fairly normal (looking) serial killer of a woman who doesn't have the slightest inkling of remorse for what she eventually does to get what she wants.

I CANNOT STRESS THE BRUTALITY ENOUGH!- If you are into murder, long visuals with nothing left to imagination then this is DEFINITELY the film for you. Gore galore. I don't know what else to say besides that this definitely will remain on my WTF list for a very long time. Great gore fest and a lesson well learned."

"A small town is taken over by an alien plague, turning residents into zombies and all forms of mutant monsters." ~ Slither (2006)

HQ Thoughts: "Just disgusting. This is a hilarious take on a B movie with a huge focus on funny.

A small town gets hit with a meteorite which releases these little worms like creatures which invades the human body and mutates them into a zombie (but violent/hungry) state.

There are no shortcuts taken here with the directors hitting it right on the mark with the most vile visuals that are bound to interrupt the senses. Zombies are my absolute fave (as mentioned in previous posts) and this movie touched my heart! It definitely doesn't fail to disappoint.

If you can sit through this without wondering WTF a few times, along with some O GOSH(s) down the line, then you are not normal but this will go down in cult history- worth a few watches for sure. I love this film!"

SNUFF: Killing on Camera (A Documentary) is THE Sickest Ever:
(Title LINK is in ENGLISH)
2008/NR/Documentary/Human Deviance

"Feature film examining the existence of films in which people are murdered on camera and the culture surrounding them. Through interviews with former FBI Profilers, Cultural Academics, and Film Historians the documentary delves into the disturbing history and myth of Snuff Films." ~ Snuff: A Documentary About Killing on Camera- (2008)

HQ Thoughts: "The scope of this film was beyond what I expected going into it. It is a commentary filled documentary with extremely compelling facts (and visuals) to back up it's initial question: "Does Snuff Films exist?" Who knew a documentary could be so damn frightening, considering that this stuff isn't a "movie" per se.

After a little over an hour of details, recounts, and video clips of viral death including, but not limited to; visual of war, snuff porn, animal cruelty, along with several other atrocities, this film goes as far as making the watcher wonder what compels the human species to indulge in such a horrific yet seemingly fascinating culture. Could it be considered a 'subconscious addiction to depravity?'

What makes a person commit and more disgustingly ENJOY the acts just committed. I was left with a tons of thoughts and knew this had to be featured on my blog! If you want something REAL... Take a peek!"

"A dirty bomb goes off in Los Angeles, jamming freeways and spreading a toxic cloud." ~ Right At Your Door (2006)

HQ Thoughts: "YES! I actually think this was an effective apocalypse film based in Los Angeles, CA. It follows a man named Brad who is waiting for his wife, Lexi to return from a day of work. While waiting, he starts to hear reports of an attack that resulted in a dirty bomb being detonated and all hell breaks lose.

With a desperate attempt to get downtown to find her, he quickly realizes the town is getting shut down quickly and 'contamination' could result in the authorities taking extreme action.

This film gives more of a reclusive fell as there are only 4 characters in the film that is worth caring about. Brad has to make some life changing choices as he tries to protect the little bit of life he has left.

Truly an unsettling experience for me, just can't accept the idea of martial law- ever. (EVER!) The ending is definitely NOT what you would expect which made me appreciate this film even more. Good Watch!"

"As a woman struggles to come to grips with her past in the wake of her mother's death, an unsettling presence emerges in her childhood home.." ~ The Pact (2012)

HQ Thoughts: "I screamed more than I am comfortable admitting. This movie was full of twists and turns and I absolutley didn't expect the ending. SO MUCH FUN!

Nicole arrives first to the childhood home of her and her sister Annie, who (btw) is adamant about not going to their mothers' funeral because of the horrible things she had done to them in the past.

After not hearing from Nicole for a few days, Annie decides to show up anyway only to find the house abandoned. Things begin to get creepy almost right away.

What seems like a revisited bad childhood film quickly turns into a ghost story/mystery/scream fest with some serious bumps in the night.

After coming across some secrets that their mother hid for years, things begin to come together as we realize we aren't just dealing with memories anymore.

This movie is serious! I watched with every light on only to find that I still had my arms over my head in fear. It's dark, quiet, weird and most importantly; SCARY AS HELL! I highly recommend!!!"

Shrooms: DRUGS ARE BAD YOU GUYS!!!:
(Title LINK is English)
2007/Ireland/R/Horror

"3 couples go to Ireland woods to collect magic mushrooms and trip out." ~ Shrooms (2007)

HQ Thoughts: "I want to believe that this could have been a better movie. I enjoyed the premise but execution wasn't great. A few friends traveled far and wide to get a hold of some special mushrooms for a trip they might not remember.

Campfire tales are shared of an old religious sect that used to torture children and it all went downhill from there. After eating a bad shroom, Tara starts to encounter bad hallucinations of all of her friends getting killed by these horrible figures.

For whatever it's worth, everyone gets knocked off some way or another and it gets super confusing until the very end- the "Aha!" moment.

Not the greatest but able to get through it. You can appreciate this original from 2007 (7 yrs ago) and I'm sure someone has done it better since. I'll find it."

2011/USA/R/Horror

"After accidentally knocking her best friend off a roof, Alyce is haunted by guilt and delves into a brutal nightmare wonderland of sex, drugs and violence, her mind tearing itself apart along with anyone else who gets in her way." ~ Alyce Kills (2011)

HQ Thoughts: "It's been a while and what a way to reignite the horror?! Alyce is one screwed up chick who made a big mistake and was never able to come back from it.

As the trailer mentions, Alyce accidentally knocked Carroll off the roof and walked away without helping. Since then, she puts herself in some of the most sadistic situations where it involves violence, sex and plenty of drugs, nothing helps the guilt she is dealing with.

It is not until she attends Carroll's funeral that she absolutely loses it and goes on a hell of a rampage. Can we say MONOTONE though? She has no feeling, she doesn't care, it's over. I'm SO MESSED UP AFTER WATCHING THIS!

Some horror films are meant to be fun, some are even considered family friendly- a good ol' time. This film is not even close. Enjoy and take a deep breath after. "

2013/USA/R/Horror

"A young woman travels to Texas to collect an inheritance; little does she know that an encounter with a chainsaw-wielding killer is part of the reward." ~ Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D (2013)

HQ Thoughts: "Let me mention that I had no expectations of liking this (what feels like) 58th edition of TCM but the writers' were definitely onto something with this concept.

I will be honest and say that I stopped watching these installments after the remake of the original and not really sure if this is a continuation of another but it makes sense either way.

Heather inherited the Sawyer home and decided to take her friends with her to check it out on their way to New Orleans. Trey Songz plays the boyfriend and doesn't die in the typical black person first style which was refreshing but his acting made me wish... ok ok let me stop.

Anyway, things go as usual- everyone gets knocked off in the most archaic ways and the ending is what shocked me the most. I must say that I was actually satisfied with the outcome, which was not what I expected at all.

Having a slow weekend evening? This could get a few jumps and laughs out for you. Good watch."

"Desperate to repay his debt to his ex-wife, an ex-con plots a heist at his new employer's country home, unaware that a second criminal has also targeted the property, and rigged it with a series of deadly traps." ~ The Collector (2009)

HQ Thoughts: "Arkin has a bit of a problem with his ex-wife that he thinks he will solve by robbing his new client. His handyman work gets him into a serious bind when he realizes that his client's home has some serious secrets hidden in various places of the home.

The heist is an automatic bust once he realizes that the family is already captured in this killers' web of sadistic traps and the originality is definitely key in this film where many things made me wish I hadn't seen it.

It's memorable and there is a sequel... As there should be. Good watch."

"When his pregnant fiancee becomes the latest victim of a serial killer, a secret agent blurs the line between good and evil in his pursuit of revenge." ~ I Saw The Devil (2010)

HQ Thoughts: "This movie is as awesome as it is long & engaging. The set-up: Man's pregnant fiancee falls prey to a cannibalistic serial killer... Man has internal breakdown... Man is now dead bent on finding the individual responsible and he does... THAT is where the fun begins in this no holds bar revenge classic because MAN is also a special agent!

Just imagine you were able to get away with all of your filth for years on end until someone finds you out and relentlessly taunts you until you start to feel paranoia like nothing you've ever experienced. I'm sure that is what his wife felt like and boy are the tables turned!

This movie doesn't disappoint; uncensored, gory, heart-pounding and nonetheless creatively brilliant"

"As sadomasochistic yakuza enforcer Kakihara searches for his missing boss he comes across Ichi, a repressed and psychotic killer who may be able to inflict levels of pain that Kakihara has only dreamed of." ~ Ichi The Killer (2001)

HQ Thoughts: "I have yet to unsee this movie. A MUST watch for any gore fan... This one hell of a directorial... Countless scenes that will make your question your place as a human....... I can keep going. lol

Ichi The Killer' Based on a manga that broke barriers in the genre, "Ichi The Killer: Episode Zero"- this featured film bought the same ideas of madness, psychological deviance and sadism from the cartoon to live person film without missing a beat!!! This gore fest is a must have for any horror fan collection and I'm sure you'd watch it frequently.

Now, the matter at hand. Kakihara; a pain-craving Yakuza underboss that is looking for his run-away Boss. Ichi on the other hand is a sexually repressed (as mentioned above), quirky young man who is out to execute a couple orders of his own under the watch of a few cohorts.

Between the gore scenes, death, rape and countless other atrocities that seem to be a theme within Miike's films, (oh yea, and excessive lactation... ...) "Ichi The Killer" is one hell of a film. Enjoyable if you can stomach through it. I absolutely adore.

HQ Thoughts: "I love zombies, can't get enough of them. The [REC] series has failed to disappoint me since I saw the first installment which was a splitting (yet way more entertaining) version of Quarantine.

Clara and Koldo start off the day with a beautiful family get together as they celebrate their marriage. Things quickly go sour after someone turns up very sick and it spreads super quick.

Nothing too shocking here except for the awesome gore, murder sequences and a killer ending. I absolutely enjoyed since it is fast paced and the subtitles make it even more intriguing (for me, at least).

Here you go for a zombie spin, enjoy! Waiting on the 4th installment of this, can't wait to post!"

"As he helps a young artist with her upcoming exhibition, the owner of a mannequin shop's deadly, suppressed desires come to the surface." ~ Maniac (2012

HQ Thoughts: "I love remakes that goes further than the previous film attempted. 1980's Maniac original was a gore fest, as it should have been- it was the time when gore was on the come up. The story line was irrelevant to the idea of someones' head getting blown off.

In this rendition, Frank meets Anna and the concept remains the same (he is enamored, starts to flashback about skanky mom and goes off the deep end eventually) but here you get an in depth look from his perspective. No really, it's like looking through his eyes for the majority of the film.

Premise doesn't change, he scalps women as an homage paid to a slutty mother and the inability to love, but this is so much more endearing that you somewhat feel really bad for Frank.

The film wasn't as horrible as some made it out to seem, this film is banned for release in New Zealand. I think it's a great watch, great perspective as mentioned before and needless to say, Mr. Wood did an awesome job here."

"The story follows medical student, Mary Mason, as she becomes increasingly broke and disenchanted with the surgical world she once admired. The allure of easy money sends Mary into the world of underground surgeries which ends up leaving more marks on her than her so called 'freakish' clientele."~ American Mary (2012)

HQ Thoughts: "Finally, some original works that focuses on a topic that is otherwise quietly discussed. Body modifications and the extremism of self-mutilation for pleasure & beauty purposes. What a treat!

Mary Mason is a med student who is in debt and desperate times who turns to some unconventional measures in order to make some extra money. She meets a woman named Beatrice who in turn, introduces her to another woman interested in creating a masterpiece of herself... And it all goes down from there.

Body modification ends up paying extremely well and after enduring a brutal attack, she decides on some payback. Ultimately Mary is pushed into a world that eventually costs her more than medical school could have ever.

Some very interesting characters here, loosely written but entertaining for what it's worth. I enjoyed the idea of body modification being used as a premise of this film however, it could have been a lot more informative. Not a bad watch!"

HQ Thoughts: "Well I got the chance to see this a day or so after the 1st installment and boy what a difference. I tried to space it out a bit so it wouldn't be so overwhelming but this one is much better than the first in so many respects yet the first one was quite entertaining for me.

Not taking away from the short stories based on found VHS tapes, this film is a lot more cohesive and understandable, needless to say shocking.

A college student goes missing and a pair of PI's goes to investigate after breaking into the last known premises he was said to be at. Inside of course they find tapes and begin watching.

The short stories this time around are extremely creative, face paced and shocking! I personally enjoyed "Ride in the Park" and "Clinical Trials" but "Safe Haven" can easily go down in history as a classic short because it was quick, scary and F'd up!

Not a disappointment but remember, no spoilers on this site because we expect you to experience it for yourself... ENJOY! (I know you will)"

The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence)- "Insert Cool Recap Here-I'm Speechless"!:

2011/Dutch/R/Horror

"Inspired by the fictional Dr. Heiter, disturbed loner Martin dreams of creating a 12-person centipede and sets out to realize his sick fantasy."~ Human Centipede 2- Full Sequence (2011)

HQ Thoughts: "Man... I must say that I truly appreciate the extreme contrast in difference the first and full sequences are from each other. Tom Six really had differing visions and made it work by utterly shocking me to the core with the sheer disregard for everything in this film.

Not too often can I say that a horror film (in it's own respect) can make me turn away, gasp out loud and 2nd guess my reasons for watching it. This movie made me think about all that could be wrong with the world, our mental health issues and mothers who suck. I know that seems a little far fetched but dammit once you see this, you will understand.

This is a straight up, take no prisoners gore flick with not 1 ounce of the sharpness and clean cut brilliance that was part 1. Human Centipede 2 is a disgusting, deranged, partially silent trip fest that will satisfy that seasoned gore fanatic. It made my day, not sure if I can stomach another round."

Silent Hill- Revelation: Slow:
(Title LINK is English)
2012/USA/R/Horror

"When her father disappears, Heather Mason is drawn into a strange and terrifying alternate reality that holds answers to the horrific nightmares that have plagued her since childhood." ~ Silent Hill- Revelation (2012)

HQ Thoughts: "Based on the video game, this is supposed to serve as a prequel to the overall story of what Silent Hill is. Heather has constant nightmares about the main figures in this series and soon discovers that she too is connected in some way.

After her father disappears, she goes on the quest to find him and runs into trouble like Pyramid Head and the sick Nurses, which I might add, was probably the most appealing part of the movie for me.

The graphics are cool and the acting could have offered more validity but overall it's a good continuation of the other Silent Hill's we have been subjected to."

Wasting Away (aka Aaah! Zombies!!!)- Appreciate The Zombies Perspective!!!:

2007/USA/R/Horror

"Turning the zombie film on its head, this film is an oddball comedy from the perspective of the brain munching monsters themselves."~ Wasting Away (2007)

HQ Thoughts: "As this would be my first comedy horror submission- I will stress how fucking awesome this movie is. I laughed and cringed and did everything else while I enjoyed myself greatly.

This film follows a group of friends who eat some tainted ice cream but are unaware of the transformation they encountered. Slowly but surely they all become maneaters and the hilarious part is that THEY DON'T KNOW!!!

So while they are going around doing what they normally do, the outside world only sees the nasty undead and they can't seem to wrap their heads around it.... PLEASE NOTE: The cinematography in this film is amazing, offering 2 different viewpoints and it works to this films advantage.

This movie covers a little of everything and falls a little short at the end but is eventful, gory and funny all at once. Oh and there is even a cool zombie make-out scene that will me you HOLLER! Must Watch!!!"
