My name is Chelsea Graf.  I am an intern here at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum from California Lutheran University.

The Reagan Blog needs to be re-named! So, all you creative and artistic people out there start thinking of ideas. Here’s what we’re looking for:

• A friendly and interesting name
• Something that will make you want to read it
• What will make you want to spend those five minutes on our blog rather than, or as well as, on facebook? J 

So start getting your creative juices flowing and submit your ideas in the comments area below!

I want point out special areas of development:

*Document Discussion Group – includes digitized documents, background information, and areas of curriculum integration.

*Issue Conversations – developing around Kettering Foundation/National Issues Forum Institute programming onsite.

The issue this fall is Economic Security.  We’re looking forward to engaging in meaningful conversations both onsite here at the Reagan Library and on our blog.

This was the last piece of federal legislation signed on the issue of illegal immigration and continues to guide policy today.

I hope you all had a productive day and received a lot of practical information to use in your classrooms. We had some great conversations about Reagan as “The Great Communicator,” the Cold War and heard from a prestigious speaker, Dr. Donal O’Sullivan. You all made some
interesting and relevant comments that were briefly mentioned during our group discussions, but we may or may not have been able to talk about them extensively. I encourage you to make comments here on the blog and to continue the conversation with us. Let us know how you used the materials in your classroom, what you did or did not like about the conference, post links to relevant websites or any other pertinent comments you would like to share. We would love to hear from you!

It has been a rewarding few days here at the Document of the Month workshop. We have researched, organized, edited and created a curriculum. I hope that you share my productive sentiments and will be able to effectively disseminate this information to your students. I also hope that you enjoyed witnessing the bill signing by Governor Schwarzenegger and the appearance by Mrs. Reagan.

We would love for you to share any comments or critiques about the workshop. Also, if you have any future questions, comments or concerns feel free to leave them in a comment box on any of the posts. We will be continuing to monitor this blog and will respond as quickly as possible.

I speak for everyone when I say thank you all again for attending! I had a wonderful time meeting you all.

Dr. Donal O’Sullivan is Assistant Professor at California State University Northridge. He has written three books and over twenty articles. His special field is Russian/Soviet history, Modern European History.  His latest book is Dealing with the Devil: Anglo-Soviet Intelligence Cooperation During the Second World War.

Does your “textbook drive your course”?  To what extent do you integrate primary sources into your classroom and for what purposes?

Our educators represent schools from a diverse group of area classrooms.  Some of our teachers focus on AP United States History classes whereas others are working with English Language Learners. The breadth of representation will encourage a strong and multi-faceted curriculum set on both the working of the United States Government and the history of our country.

The project serves as a great example of cooperation and communication between our educational and archival communities.  Thank you to the education interns, Reagan Library archivists, and the National Archives Social Media group for all of your support
