26 Feb Old Demo Websites
We have been cleaning up some of our demo websites and have closed almost all of them down. This is because they are all quite old and do not relate to our current ability.
The main demo websites were created to show what type of website we could create for bars, hotels and restaurants. We were surprised by the sheer volume of visitors the website attracted.
When we created the websites, we submitted them to all search engines, added some dummy content and then froze it in time. Over weeks and months, more and more visitors were finding the websites and sharing the images, assuming that the site was a live site. Teh most popular demo was our Bar demo website as it contained a menu of interesting food. The images were then shared and linked to which resulted in a steady stream of new users.
This shows just how well our websites work and how easily they pick up users through search engine rankings within relevant search results. The users who came from search engines then pinned some of the images to pinterest which in turn created another large stream of users visiting our demo sites.

Below are the stats for our Bar demo website showing the number of visitors per week. This covers the 10 weeks prior to the demo site being closed.

Over the last 13 months (Jan 2012 – Jan 2013), the bar demo has received an average of 1087 unique users and 2110 pageviews per month. For a site that is only a demo and was not updated after it was initially setup, it is stunning to see so many visitors to the website. You can imagine the volume of prospective customers that your website could receive if you add just a few new items per week when compared to our demo site which had zero new items added during its entire life.
If your business has a conversion rate of 10% (1 in 10 of your customers make a purchase), then you could very easily have more than 100 new orders every month!
