The Best Gift of All

It’s time to Give Thanks. Lets take this opportunity to focus on Thanksgiving by breaking it down into Thanks + Giving. Put them both together and we have an even bigger reason to celebrate.

Give Thanks during Thanksgiving and At All Times

The majority of people in other countries do not celebrate Thanksgiving as it is known in the United States. However, it doesn’t matter in which Country you live, we should always have an attitude of gratitude and Give thanks in all things.

Thanks -5 Things I’m Thankful For

We should be thankful every day of the year but there is a special emphasis on giving thanks today.

If we have our priorities in order it will help us in everything that we do.

There are 5 priorities that I am especially thankful for today.

1. My Relationship with Christ

Notice that I said my relationship not my religion. I know that there are many different religions, I’m talking about communicating with Jesus and worshipping God, not just going to church. It is important to put God first in everything that we do and then everything else should fall in line.

2. My Wife and Family

This should be second priority. Many times we tend to put work or service before our family.  Next to a relationship with Christ, the day that we marry a person is a life changing event and should be considered very important.  Our children shouldn’t have to feel like my job is more important than they are.

3. Quality Friendships

Sometimes I fall short  in this area because I would rather work than to go out with friends. Quality relationships require work and they need to be cultivated.

4.  My Work

Finally in 4th position we get to a priority where we spend most of our time. Just because we spend more time at work, at least 40 hours a week for many people, doesn’t mean that it should be top priority.  I am thankful for the opportunity to work and to serve others with my gifts and talents.

5. Freedom and a long list of things associated with it.

There are so many other things to be thankful for such as material possessions, modern conveniences, and even necessities in life such as food and clothing. After thinking about it, if we lack freedom it would be hard to have or enjoy a long list of things associated with freedom. I am thankful that I live in a free country and that I am free.

Giving

The Opportunity to Give is something to be thankful for -

We should GIVE thanks in all things.

Hopefully this recent incident with my daughter Cristi will help stress the importance of giving.

The other day, Mari who is a Tzental Indian girl who lives with us invited us to go to her house. Mari is from a small village located near Tenejapa, Chiapas.

After driving on some rough roads to get to her village we parked the tuck and walked another 15 minutes to get to her house.

When we entered her home we immediately noticed the dirt floors, a place to cook in the middle of the room and chickens running around inside.

Mari is one of 9 children. One of Mari’s sisters, Isabel, began playing with our daughter Cristi.
Cristi’s had her favorite stuffed animal with her. Little Isabel was especially interested in the little doll since she her parents obviously couldn’t afford to get her one like this.

We are trying to teach our daughter the importance of giving. Cristi gave little Isabel her build-a bear. Although the stuffed animal meant a lot to our daughter it was a very special gift for little Isabel.

That little build a-bear meant a lot to Cristi, but she gave it because she knew Isabel needed it more.

Of course, little Isabel was very thankful after my daughter Cristi “Gave”.

So you see. We should GIVE thanks always especially since Thanks and Giving go hand in hand.

I realize that some people would just prefer the old version of copyblogger. I did say “FREE Copyblogger theme” when I placed a title on this article.

I searched around on the internet and the old versions of copyblogger are hard to find since they may not work well with the newer versions of wordpress.

That said, I did have the older versions on my hard drive. I uploaded them to my server and am providing them for free below. They may be especially useful if you know anything about wordpress coding which I don’t and which is why I prefer to use the newer Copyblogger Child Theme.

My 4 Favorite Premium WordPress Themes

I know that my life has been marked by milestones. I also know that in one instance, your life can be changed forever by a specific action or event.

A life changing experience in the Canon De Sumidero

I was surprised to hear a family member who recently visited us in Chiapas, Mexico tell me that the trip that we made in a small boat up the river in the Canon de Sumidero was unforgettable and life changing.

He experienced a relaxation and an experience like no other.

He’s not a big public speaker, but his testimony is just what the tourism board in Chiapas needs to promote their tourism.

Here are a few examples of defining moments in my own life:

Trials

Trials are a part of everyone’s life.

Let’s face it.  Life is full of problems.  They might be simple problems, such as explaining to your boss why you are late again because your car broke down or they might be huge problems such as being diagnosed with cancer.  We cannot get away from problems nor do we want to.  Why?  Because problems mean that we are alive!

No one is exempt from tough times. When we run our online business and begin to reach out to others, we will have problems, just like we do in every other part of life.  This is good because from these trials and problems we will grow.  We will learn what works and what doesn’t.  We will learn who to trust and who not to trust.  We will learn the best ways to portray ourselves and our products and which marketing techniques work the best.  Will we have failures?  Of course we will, but we will also have many successes and if we believe, have faith, and do the work, our successes will outweigh the failures.

Since everyone goes through a trial at some time or another, your life’s experience could be of great benefit to them. In my own life, my wife and I have gone through an adoption process that has lasted for many years now. We were handed our child when she was a couple of months old. There was only one problem. Since she had been abandoned on a corner by a grocery store in Mexico she had no birth certificate.

We embarked upon a journey that has taught us many things an after seven year’s time we finally finished the legal adoption process. We were frontiers in Mexico, because no one had legally done this before without taking shortcuts. The process is not completely finished, but we have learned some valuable lessons. One day I will share my insights with others who wish to adopt.

A Specific but Unique (Niche) Experience

Adopting a child is a specific life experience that any people are interested in. In addition to helping others in the area of adoptions I could also share with others how to overcome trials. So you see, you should examine your experiences, extract the lessons you have learned from them and use them to solve someone else’s problem. Here’s a small example:

“When you are faced with problems in your life, your family, or your business you have two choices in front of you.  You can choose to cover under them and allow them to break you or you can choose to stand up to them, overcome them, and learn from them.  This really is a matter of choice.  So many people face problems in their life and then simply give up.  You don’t have to do that.  You can keep going and growing”

A Painful Experience

Have you experienced a painful life experience?  What problem, hurt, or trial have you learned from? Review your life and think about what made you into the person you are today. Think about those past experiences. Don’t waste them. Forgotten experiences are worthless.

Very seldom do we think about how a painful circumstance, embarrassment or failure con bring good into our lives while we are going through them. It is only after it is all said and done that it becomes a “past experience” and we can begin extracting lessons from them. That’s what I’ve done as a result of learning through these trails
