An example of this can be from a programmer's perspective. Now a days, many programmers call themselves coders when really they're copying half the shit that's already written online. Again, this is completely fine. But let's say they're building a large infrastructure and they find out half way that something is bottle necking the CPU usage. Well, they wouldn't know what's taking up the CPU usage to solve the issue because they don't understand at all how the libraries and code is interacting with each other. Some will swap libraries, some will try to come up with their own solution and some will just accept the usage - call it a bug they have to fix which they never end up getting to and just pretend like it doesn't exist. Their program is now not at it's fullest potential it could have been.

The same goes for Internet Marketing or anything in life.
