Attention treasure seekers ………..hidden inside the Diamond Candle lies a ring that just may be valuable!

Yes, you heard right, not just a fragrant soy candle, Diamond Candles offer a bit of intrigue by placing a ring just below its waxy surface. Just allow the 6″ candle to burn for an hour or two and then carefully dig out the gold foil wrapped nugget. Inside the foil and baggie will be a ring approximately valued at $10, $100, $1000 or even $5,000!!! Okay, take a breath, what are the odds that you’ll actually strike it rich…….slim, but its the thrill of the unknown (and you could still get a really cute “fake” to wear )

I received the Fresh Snow Diamond Candle to try. Its light fragrance, was just enough to add scent, but not enough to fill the room. Time stood still for my girls who practically starred at the candle just waiting for it to melt and nab the loot. Around two hours went by, and the melted portion reached the gold foil marker seen through the glass (approx. an inch from the top). We carefully blew out the flame and used tweezers to pull out the foil. I dried it off and handed it over to my munchkins. Inside we found an appearingly fake gold ring with a purple stone in the center and two diamond looking stones to either side. There appeared to be writing inside saying Thailand, so I figured that meant fake, although my hubby is convinced that one of the diamonds looks real (ha,ha!).

After the initial bummer that we hadn’t struck it rich , my girls decided who was going to wear it to school first! My oldest won the draw so she wore it the next day and of course bragged to everyone about it. Her teachers all wanted a candle of their own!

Do you need to bring a specialty item to a ladies club or bunco group for gifting? How about needing a gift for that hard to buy for teen? At $24.95, Diamond Candles are a unique gift that won’t break the bank. Candle prices are on the rise anyway….. you may as well enjoy a piece of jewelry as a bonus. Imagine if you found a ring of value!!

Wondering who discovered a real ring and what they look like? Check out Diamond Candle on Facebook or their blog to see. They also have video reveals for you to see how they work.

You know how when you go to a movie, you have in your head whether or not you are going to like it. It usually ends up the way you thought…if you go thinking you will hate it, you will hate it. That is what was so fun about Man on a Ledge. I didn’t know much about it before I went so I couldn’t pre-judge. All I knew was it was a “cop” movie. I had originally wanted to take my hubby with me to see it (since it was his kind of movie) but then I watched CSI with him and he kept telling me “They wouldn’t really do that.” “That would take a lot longer then that.” Ruined the whole thing. So I was a little relieved when he ended up not being able to go, so a girlfriend went with me. Both of us were a little worried that it was going to be a movie that made us worry for our hubby’s lives (both of our hubby’s are cops).

“An NYPD hostage negotiator (Elizabeth Banks) attempts to talk cop-turned-fugitive Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington) down from a high ledge, but she learns that he may have a hidden motive for threatening to take his own life. A priceless diamond has been stolen, and the thieves responsible are using Nick as their scapegoat. An escaped convict with nowhere to run, Nick realizes that no one will believe he is innocent, and he decides to take extreme measures in order to expose the men who set him up. Stepping out on a ledge 25 stories above the bustling concrete streets of New York City, the notorious fugitive quickly becomes a media sensation as the entire world watches, awaiting his next move. Meanwhile, Nick’s loyal brother races to help clear his sibling’s name and ensure that the guilty pay for their crimes before the situation ends in tragedy. ”

You may ask, how exciting can a movie be based on a man standing on a ledge?! Believe it or not, it is VERY exciting. The story is great, I understood it (which I sometimes have a hard time doing in “guy” movies), and it wasn’t ….a few bad words and a kiss or two and one panty scene was all! In all honesty, it was one of the best movies I have seen in a really long time. I really liked it! The acting was great, story was believable, and by the end I couldn’t believe that I had sat in the theater for over an hour and a half. It is a MUST see!! Fantastic!! It comes to theaters near you starting today, January 27, 2012.

I hear that being a mommy is hard work. I can hardly wait to find out! It is going to be so exciting. However, I hear that it really does take a toll on your body. Being pregnant with my first and not knowing what to expect I hear lots of horror stories…come on folks! Are these supposed to be calming? Are they supposed to show me how bad it could be? ha ha It isn’t the most comforting thing to hear, “Just wait unit…”

My little guy, Austin, is a Lego fanatic! He loves to create according to the directions and make his creation look just like the picture, but he also likes to create on his own. He loves all of the different sizes and colors. He will sit in his room for hours creating something amazing. I love the fact that he uses his imagination and his brain as he works on his masterpieces. What I don’t love (or even like) is the huge mess that comes with building with Legos. There are so many little pieces that get dropped, lost, or just plain dumped out. Problem solved!! Box4Blox!

This 10 1/4″ inch cube is made of the same plastic that Lego uses for its pieces, so it is super high quality! Austin loves the bright colors and thought the “sifting” part of the boxes were “super cool.” I agree with my 8 year old 100% percent (for once:)) Our Lego storage has been and issue for a while now. We have tried saving the boxes they come in only to have them fall apart and we ended up losing Legos out of the bottom of the boxes. We tried plastic container- we ended up having Legos all over the floor while the search went on for the smaller Legos hiding in the bottom and corners of that box. The Box4Blox has perfect sorting trays so all of the smaller blocks fall through leaving the largest on the top getting smaller and smaller with each tray. I do wish the box had some way of clicking together or having a carrying handle, but after reading up on the product, I found out why there isn’t one. Due to the fact that the Box4Blox can hold up to about 1600 legos, there is a weight issue. With that many Legos, the box can get heavy and the best way to carry it is from the bottom for the most support. They did say you will only pick it up wrong once Make sure you watch the YouTube video of the Box4Blox, it gives you a better idea of how genius this is!! One of my favorite parts of the Box4Blox is that is made in the USA! I also love that it was invented by a couple who had one too many spills of Legos and Ta-Da!! The Box4Blox was born! This is the perfect addition to any child’s Lego collection! No wonder it was voted New Home Organizing Product of the Year! It would make an incredible gift…any mom would thank you over and over! The Box4Blox deserves my two thumbs way up, and they get Austins two thumbs even higher up….and my vacuum thanks you, too!! REAL MOM APPROVED!!

With snow on the roads and the kids in tow, you are probably out and about everyday. Come rain or shine, it’s always smart to practice safe driving everyday. With soccer practice to race to, errands to run, and ballet lessons to attend you can tend to be overwhelmed and that’s making no mention to the weather.

Here’s our top tips for safe winter driving this year:

Vehicle upkeep. Make sure your oil is changed, windshield washer fluid is full, and you have good tires on your vehicle. You want your vehicle to be in tip top shape when out and about, especially in the cold. You want to eliminate your chances of having a breakdown or flat tire if at all possible.

Driving during daylight hours. Once the sun goes down the ice comes out. Try to limit your night driving to avoid ice and possible breakdowns. The weather can be chilling and if you have children with you, you don’t want to weather the cold if you have to walk a distance for help, or wait in a cold car for help.

Stop early. Leave a safe distance between you and the car in front of you. Especially at stop signs and lights. It’s very easy to slide on icy wet roads.

Emergency kit. It’s a great idea to have jumper cables and warn clothing such as a coat and gloves, to a blanket. If you are ever stranded on the side of the road you won’t know how long you will be there. Even having some food in the trunk along with a shovel are great ideas. Keep a first aid kit too! That way you have it if you need it.

Seatbelt. Always buckle up when on the road. Make sure the kids carseats and booster seats are properly installed for safety.

Cell phone charger in the glove box. Make sure that you keep a cell phone charger in your car. That way if you break down you will always have a full cell phone battery.

Warm up the car before heading out. This will help you keep your windows clear from ice and snow and give you the best vision for safe driving.

Slow down. It’s always smart to just slow down when driving in extreme conditions. Use your good judgment. If you are nervous, they you would be best to slow down. Yes you will arrive a few minutes late, but you will be safe and sound.

Just over 3 years ago, I enrolled my kids in a Charter school. Hailee was in 2nd grade and April and Austin were in kindergarten. There were so many aspects to this school that I was super excited about, it was brand new, had leveled learning, and had a school uniform. There were a few things that Hailee was not looking forward to, leaving her old school, leaving her friends and wearing a school uniform. What was a major plus for me was not a major plus for her. Since she had been in a “regular” school for a couple of years, she was used to wearing whatever she wanted to school and knew that it was going to be quite and adjustment for this little fashionista to wear practically the same thing to school every day. When I heard about French Toast, I immediately placed my order! We live in a small-er town and pretty much our only shopping is Walmart, or we drive 45 minutes to the nearest mall. Therefore, I love me some online shoppin!! This is a picture of one the first uniforms we got from French Toast (3 years ago). I fell in love with French Toast from the moment my first package came in the mail. I was super impressed with the quality of every item we got! My kids wear polo style shirts everyday. If you have ever gotten the Walmart ones, you would know that after a few wears, they have a hard time coming clean. Our French Toast ones were not only CHEAPER then the Walmart ones, but a much better quality. They wash/wear really nice! My kids have been wearing the French Toast brand for the last 3 years and besides out growing their clothes, there hasn’t been a single issue with them

When I got the opportunity to review French Toast, I jumped on it! I was super excited to try their sweaters! We have ordered pants, skirts, shorts and polo’s in the past….just never a sweater! This year, the school went SUPER strict of dress code and said they could only wear navy sweaters, where in the past they had been able to wear navy, white or yellow. Have you ever looked for a CUTE navy sweater with nothing on it?! Not all that easy to find…unless you are on French Toast! Hailee, my needs to look “super” cute everyday girl, got the Cable Front Cardigan. April needs to be comfy (and cute) so she went with the Pom-Pom Zip Up Sweater. Austin, he could careless. He is going to wear the first thing hanging in his closet, so I picked the Zip Front Sweater for him. In less then a week, I had sweaters being delivered to my house. All three were thrilled…even Austin! They love wearing them, not only because they are super cute, but they are comfy and warm. We are in Utah, and things get COLD here, so that is a big deal! Another big deal (according to Hailee) is that she can’t have the same clothes as everyone else. French Toast has SO many different items that you are sure to get something that is perfect for your kids that will make them stand out…as much as you can stand out in a uniform. I am all for my kids wearing a uniform, but I do want them to be themselves. When we shop at French toast, they can pick things that still fall into the uniform category, but show a little bit of personality as well.

“French Toast Official School Wear™ is America’s leading brand of school uniform. Since 1958, our company has provided families with quality children’s wear and boys and girls school uniforms at great prices. Our selection of uniform styles and sizes is second to none, from toddler size uniforms through young adult, French Toast carries over 6,000 individual colors, styles and sizes in stock, all year round!”

French Toast has an incredible online store where you can find everything you need to send your kids off to school. They also have a catalog and do sell in stores as well! If you are looking for uniforms that will hold up in the wash, hold up at school, and stand the test of comfort…French Toast is the place to shop! Real Mom Approved!!

Winter is in full swing! There may be snow on the ground…. if you are like half of us in the mountain west, you are probably still wondering where the snow is… but something that IS here is cold/flu season. If I go to someone’s house to drop off something and they say, “Oh yeah, my kiddo has the flu this week, or hubby,” I feel I can practically see the germs coming around the corner, on the attack for me!! ( I know… I’m a little crazy that way!) I usually leave wanting to douse myself in sanitizer. Now while I haven’t gone to that extreme, I have found something that is absolutely great at killing those pesky germs! BabyGanics is a company started by two fathers who wanted the safest, most effective products around the house for their families. They have a complete line of cleaning products. I was generously sent the “Germinator” to try out. It is a moisturizing, foaming hand sanitizer.

One of the easiest ways to prevent getting sick is to keep your hands clean and germ-free. Constant washing and use of an alcohol-based hand sanitizer is not only a hassle, but it can also dry out your hands. BabyGanics ‘The Germinator’ Alcohol Free Foaming Hand Sanitizer effectively kills 99.9% of germs without the harsh side effects of alcohol and other synthetic chemicals. It instead utilizes benzalkonium chloride, a naturally safe and effective substance which makes The Germinator not only fast acting, but allows for use without water or towels, its non-flammable, will not stain your clothing, and definitely won’t dry out your skin. In fact, this non-toxic formula actually moisturizes as it cleans and is of course the best choice for even the tiniest fingers and hands. BabyGanics ‘The Germinator’ Alcohol Free Foaming Hand Sanitizer is available in a fresh tangerine scent as well as a fragrance free variety.

I was pleasantly surprised by how refreshing the scent of the tangerine is. My hubby commented that it doesn’t smell the way most hand sanitizers do, and I also noticed it also felt SO much more moisturizing as well. It almost feels like lotion being rubbed in, and now 10 minutes later, my hands still feel moisturized. That is awesome because along with germ season comes (extra) hand washing season, which means super dry hands! I will be using this stuff from now on the rest of the winter and long past! If you are looking a moisturizing hand sanitizer that actually sanitizes AND moisturizes, looking no further than BabyGanics Germinator! This sanitizer is REAL Mom Recommended! You can find BabyGanics online at and nationwide at all Babies R Us, Bed Bath & Beyond and Buy Buy Baby locations. Thanks BabyGanics!

When I look back over my life at how much technology has evolved and improved, I am constantly amazed! It has come a long way in 31 years! Along with all this technology comes all the accessories and of course, the charger. From cell phones to netbooks, to kids handheld games; every outlet in the house can be occupied by a charger! Before you know it they are moved all over the house and then eventually misplaced or even lost. Ugh! ChargeAll created a truly wonderful universal charger to solve the ‘too many chargers, not enough outlets issues’ that many families are facing!

ChargeAll is a universal cell phone charger that works with everything from the Apple iPhone and Blackberry to the Amazon Kindle and Nintendo DS; it literally charges thousands of devices! ChargeAll features 10-in-1 tip technology, fast charge capability, and fully customized designs for business owners.

When my ChargeAll Wall Charger arrived I couldn’t get it opened fast enough! The thought of all these chargers in one outlet made me so happy! No more tangled mess of charger cords to sort through and no more moving my cell charger all over the house to different plugs for convenience. We decided to keep our ChargeAll wall charger in an outlet in the kitchen and I love that I always know exactly where it is and I love that the kids do, too! As soon as their iPod Touch goes dead, they know exactly where to drag me to get it plugged in and charging! This charger is great and gets our gadgets charged up quickly, which is so nice! Right now we only use three of the different charger options, but as technology continues to change and our collection of gadgets grows I know we will be using more in the future and it is so awesome that they are all in one place together!

A couple of my fellow Real Moms also got to give the ChargeAll wall charger a try! Here are their thoughts!

Cords, cords, and more cords. Everywhere I look around the house there’s a charging cord to be found. We have cords for cell phones, i-pods, kid toys, and more! I even have a storage box full of old cords that I have kept on the chance that we “might” need them again someday. Not anymore! I can toss them out thanks to our new ChargeAll. This gadget is super great and I can’t believe it took this long for it to surface in the marketplace….and did I mention that we love it! We have it hubbed in our kitchen, so we can use it for charging everything in one place. No more searching for the cord that goes to the gadget. We simply plug it in to our ChargeAll. You MUST get one! You will be so glad you did. ~ Hollie

Cell phone technology has come a long way since the giant bag phone my hubby and I (then boyfriend) used on road trips in college! Who would have thought 15 years later we would be using “smart” phones that could fit in our pockets, complete with internet access, webcams, and a talking concierge! With so many types of cell phones through the years, each requiring its own style charger, it’s no wonder why the folks at ChargeAll desired to bring us a universal charger. Thanks ChargeAll! My brother was excited to receive the ChargeAll wall charger from us for Christmas. Now only one wall outlet is needed for his cellphone, separate work cellphone and iPod, freeing up the second outlet for his other electronics. It also comes in handy when his friends visit…..with 10 different adapters he becomes the hero to save their dying batteries! ~Christina

I have had sooo many problems in the last year with my phone charger. My original charger that came with the phone broke so I went and bought a new cord. Unfortunately that was was about 6 inches too short and wouldn’t reach from the wall to the bed. That is annoying when your phone is your alarm clock. I used it but unfortunately it also broke. I bought another cord, this time a longer one, and although it hasn’t broken yet it won’t stay firmly plugged in leaving me with a half charged phone in the morning. When I got the chance to try out ChargeAll I am was elated….anything has to be better than what I was dealing with. ChargeAll rocks! The cord is long and stays in my phone. Even better it charges my phone fast! The ONLY bummer part, which could actually be a positive for some, is it can be kind of bulky if you just need the one adapter most of the time. I appreciate having the other adapters because then my hubby can use it, I can take it to the cabin and others can use it, and I don’t have to have a drawer full of random chargers. Perhaps this isn’t the best bedside charger for me but I DO love it. ~Crissa

ChargeAll aslo offers a Charging Station that would be amazing in any cafe, restaurant, or hotel. Offering a place for patrons or workers to charge their phones!

ChargeAll is 10 chargers in 1 and Compatible with Apple iPhone & iPod, Micro USB, Mini USB, Samsung, LG, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Sony PSP, Nintendo DSi, Nintendo DS Lite

Valentine’s Day is only a few weeks away, but I’m sure I don’t have to tell you since every store you walk into has V-day goodies in your direct view! If you have school age kiddos it’s time to select cards to pass out to all their classmates. Instead of just picking something off the shelf, visit Minted for some very creative and fun designs.

Minted is a global community of independent graphic designers and an online store that prints and sells the best of their designs in the form of paper goods. ”Our purpose in life is to uncover exceptional design from all over the world and bring this to savvy consumers who won’t accept anything else.” ~ Minted

My girls and I have always adored this time of year. We have made our fair share of homemade treats and cards, but as the girls have gotten older, we have focused on making sweet treats, and purchasing the cards. Some of my favorite past creations include a finger painted heart, “I’m stuck on you” bandaids and matchbooks with sticks of gum inside. Although fun, it can be sooo time consuming.

This year they found just the card they were looking for at Minted. For just under $30 we were able to get enough cards for both classes. My youngest is into cootie catchers (you remember….those paper contraptions that you move back and forth in your hands that tell a “fortune” at the end), so you can imagine her delight when she spotted these interactive “check off”… sweet, cool, funny, cute cards. I just hope I don’t see her check off the “cute” line for any of her classmates, ha,ha!

Ordering from minted is simple, just select your card and then personalize it by following the prompts. We could have personalized the “from” line on our design, however, we chose to leave it blank and have the girls sign their names. We also had a few choices of back colors/patterns, but we selected white since it costs a bit more for the others. Once you have everything the way you like, submit it, and an electronic proof will be sent shortly. Once you have approved your proof you can expect standard delivery times around a week (you can expedite with 2-day or overnight).

Minted offers classroom valentine designs wonderful for both boys and girls to give to their classmates, and their photo valentine cards would be precious to send to grandparents or other relatives.
