We were absolutely honored when Steven and Francine Conway, Chicago's distinguished event planners {LI Favorite } invited us to photograph their destination wedding in Wisconsin.

On a bright holiday weekend, I arrived in Francine's lovely hotel room at The Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake to find her exquisite Marisa designer gown, Alfani shoes and unique wedding jewelry by the King of Bling, Joel Singer, in their beautiful boutique wrapping. Spending this quiet time capturing these intimate details at a wedding truly syncs me into the mood and feel for the rest of the day.

Francine's 'something blue' was traditional Greek beads wrapped delicately around her right ankle. Francine's beauty astounds me! You can truly see her gorgeous Greek heritage in her stunning and bright smile.

Francine's charming father helped me style her dress for the detail shots and then showed me the most cherishing photograph of him holding Francine when she was a baby. He said that Francine gave him the photo as a gift. I thought about how much I already adored Francine, and this made me feel that much more smitten with her beautiful spirit!

Steven and Francine's destination wedding ceremony was held at the second oldest Greek Orthodox Church in the United States, St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Words can little describe how captivating this lovely church is. The interior was sparkling with ornate old-world details and every inch glowed brightly with spiritual symbolism.

Here are a few amazing moments of love captured after Steven and Francine's traditional Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony along Elkhart Lake in Wisconsin just before their destination wedding reception at The Osthoff Resort.

Another thing I LOVE at weddings are bridesmaid's dresses that are all unique. The classic, silver-and-red color palette Francine chose allowed her bridesmaid's to select different dresses by Karen Millen and Jim Hjelm that fit each of their individual styles while retaining their stunning and gorgeous looks all day.

Steven and Francine's gorgeous, classic, destination wedding reception was held on Elkhart Lake at the The Osthoff Resort in Wisconsin.

I knew that the beautiful bride Francine Karamalegos was an amazing event planner with exceptional attention to detail, but my breath was taken away when I received the in-person experience of her visual coordination and attention to every last detail throughout the weekend. I seriously can not wait to work with her again and capture some more eye candy!

You know when you are at a huge rock concert and the energy in the air right before the headlining band comes on is so palatable you can feel it? That's the same feeling I have when at a Midwest or East Coast wedding and they are about to announce the bride and groom at the wedding reception. My heart skips a beat, my tummy has butterflies and then... there they are! It's the most jubilous and exciting moment of the day for me.

Steven and Francine totally ROCKED IT for their grand entrance and continued into their first Greek dance of the night, followed by the honor of her father doing a traditional Greek money dance of course!

One of my favorite things about destination weddings has to be the “Day After Photo Session”.

For Steven and Francine's photography session the day after their wedding, we strolled along the Midwest vacationing town and waterfront of Elkhart Lake. Walking along the quiet boardwalks and train tracks reminded us all of being transformed in time and transported to the set of Dirty Dancing back in 1987. It's really that sweet and quaint!

I fell completely in love with this old train car and old-growth tree in the hot sun. It was the perfect destination location for this town. [Photo Tip: even though the first B&W image has a feeling of infrared, no filters on the lens, in camera or post processing was used. This shot is almost directly SOOC (straight out of camera) with the saturation taken down, a minimal bump in contrast and less a bit of clarity. Settings: 18mm (18-70mm Nikor lens), ISO 200, f/5.0, 1/320.]

Francine and Steven have such fun and playful spirits and I adore how Francine twirled in her couture Marisa gown designed by Tamara Kristen.

Love walking on train tracks and the lovely historical depot buildings around the town.

Just when the sun was too bright overhead to photograph, we ducked under the shade of Elkhart Lake's historical train depot and it saved the moment. This is when Steven and Francine started making each other giggle and their laughter here continued throughout this amazing day!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this portrait of Francine.

Have I ever mentioned how much I like bouquets that consist of one type of flower? This all-white-rose bouquet designed by McGinley & Baker paired so well with Francine's shoes on the dock and this set made me so happy!

Women's Camera Strap designed by Black Rapid

I'm giddy with butterflies to show you the new R-Strap designed just for women by Black Rapid! Yup, that's right ladies, a camera strap that is designed just for us with all our beautiful contours in mind. Not only does the RS-W1 have a special cut, but it is thinner both in width and thickness. Black Rapid has even added pretty velvety material on each end to add the perfect, feminine touch while still retaining the professional, sleek look.

Today I ran down to the beach, set the intervalometer in my camera and ran around in the golden, grassy dunes showing my new RS-W1 Women's R-Strap created by Black Rapid. I so {heart} you guys!

New Business Cards

I am often going through my Shootsac, Think Tank Airport Security, Airport Check In computer case, not to mention coat pockets, miscellaneous purses and bags and find myself holding "The Business Card". The name on the card is sooooo familiar, I should remember who it is, but at the time I received "The Business Card" didn't write on "The Business Card" who the person was, looked liked, or how I could remember them. "The Business Card" ends up on a pile on my desk until I have time to Google such person and/or business to spark my ever-multitasking-memory into doing it's job.

So last week I was staring at my own business cards and realized that they are just as guilty of sitting in someones purse, pocket or desk at that very moment. I did some thinking and made a really brave move for some new cards: I put my own photo on the back of the card.

That's right: no more picture of my past clients (love you all!). I just answered one of the basic questions someone might have when looking at my card a month or a year after I give it to them: "who IS this person?" They see me wearing my camera gear: I'm the little blonde photographer they met!

Dave & Laura - Golden Gardens Surprise Engagement

It is with great pleasure I am finally having a chance to share these lovely images of fellow photographers Laura and Dave of Blissed Photography. They are definitely one of the couples in life that are incredibly inspiring to be around and we were super flattered that they asked us to take some fun images of them for their website.

We started the shoot by hitting the pavement in our Fremont neighborhood and then drove to Golden Gardens for that gorgeous sunset light that the beach is named for. While Laura was doing a quick change, Dave gestured us toward him and with a sneaky look in his eyes pulled a pretty velvet pouch out of his pocket. Then he showed us the ring inside of it! Right on, we were totally up for capturing his surprise engagement proposal!

A little side note here: yes, I LOVE surprises – especially ones that I get to be a part of it – but I seriously have THE WORST poker face in the world (ask any one of my friends) and was panicking that Laura would read me knowing something was up.

Luckily Laura didn’t catch on (whew!), and Dave caught the most perfect romantic moment of the day to get on his knees in the sweet yellow grass and ask lovely Laura to be his forever.

She said “YES!”

My dear Aunt Beckie has just published her first book! For years she has created beautiful watercolors, and last year had a wonderful idea for a children's book series using her gentle and lovely watercolors as the illustrations.

The book "The Little Ele-funny" from the series "Animals with Attitude", is beautiful to look at and has a wonderful message for kids of all ages (including adults!) and has arrived just in time for the holidays (the PERFECT stocking stuffer for all the kids in your life!)
