So there we have it, there was actually a little swell, but nowhere really turned it on, in Byron Bay today. It wasn’t hideously bad, but it just wasn’t that good either. You get days like this at the times. The wind couldn’t really make up its mind where it was coming from, nor could the swell. The end result was kind of weirdo lumpy and none too powerful waves pretty much everywhere you looked. At times some spots showed promise, but ….. in Byron Bay today.

Hello Friends,
Yet another glorious and sunny morning in Sydney. And, yet another morning of minorness on the wave front. According to the latest MHL buoy data, the Sydney region is looking at about a metre of south swell. It has an average period of nearly 10 seconds, so there are a few small waves to be had at south facing stretches of beach. The wind should be offshore all day, so as the tide drops there might be the odd waist high bomb getting in. From what I saw at Dee Why (only three people in the water from the pole to kiddies) and North Narrabeen, you’ll need to be patient and reasonable in your expectations vis a vis the size. Inconsistent knee to waist with the very occasional bigger one I’d say.

Tide is high at around 0900 and then it’s back to low at 1440.

Wind is set to stay offshore all day.

The surf forecast modelling this morning continues to point toward very small to flat conditions for the rest of the week. There may be a slight uptick in energy on Saturday morning (as the swell gets back into the metre plus range) and Monday continues to look interesting. There is heaps of energy in the southern ocean, but the systems are mostly shown as being deflected away from our swell window. New Zealand might be an option…

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge extends across the bulk of New South Wales. A low pressure system and associated cold front is expected to develop over New South Wales in response to an upper-level trough. This system is forecast to affect the coast at the end of the week. The positioning of this system is currently uncertain, but it is likely to bring strong to gale force winds to some coastal areas.

I would have said its flat if it wasn’t for the keen bunch of longboarders and a few crazy shortboarders trying to prove me wrong. Some were even running down to paddle out. I guess its a killer day and always nicer to be floating around than doing what other people do. High tide is 9:04am

Micro Management, In Byron Bay Today.

You know its funny how things can change so rapidly, in Byron Bay today. The weather was glorious and the beach was quiet as the swell was almost flat. There was only ever going to be micro slides for a small crew at best, and so a few fleet footed locals paddled out to give the test. Small though it was, they soon ,,,, in Byron Bay today.
