The young tribe is La Flor, and the old tribe is Espada. The castaways also had to search for the Medallion of Power which gave a tribe an advantage in the immunity challenge if they chose to play it. Brenda found the Medallion of Power, but her La Flor tribe handed it over to Espada, in return La Flor received flint and fishing gear to help La Flor start a fire and catch fish respectively. If I was on La Flor, I would of kept the Medallion of Power, because even though the rewards are nice, immunity is far more important in the game. Ironically in Episode 5, both of this season's twist ended after a tribal shuffle, which I think was a stupid move for the producers, because they were both very interesting to watch. I was rooting for Kelly B, because I think she was an incredibly good athlete especially considering the fact she has only 1 leg, but alas she was voted off the La Flor tribe 5:1 after an inital 4:4 tie caused a revote. My favorite player still in the game is Kelly B's ally Alina.

Amazing Race 17 Intro

Amazing Race 17

The Amazing Race 17 started in Gloucester, Massachusetts where Phil Keoghan told the teams that the winners of the 1st leg which turned out to be Jill/Thomas would receive the Express Pass which is valid through the 8th leg allowing Jill/Thomas to skip any 1 task of their choice. Jill/Thomas skipped the detour between sled racing and tent building in Sweden (Leg 4) so they can't use it again. I hope the Express Pass returns next season, because I think it adds another strategic element to the race. Bob won the challenge, and at a very predictable tribal council Ken was voted off 4:1. At the final immunity challenge, the castaways had to build a house of cards 10 feet tall with a time limit of 30 minutes. Even though this was one of my favorite Survivor challenges from any season, I think 30 minutes was far too short of a time limit for a final immunity challenge considering in some previous seasons they went on for hours. Shockingly, Susie won immunity which gave little hope for my favorite castaway Bob. At tribal council, an emotional Sugar couldn't decide between Matty and Bob on who was more deserving, but knowing Bob most likely would receive votes from Matty and Susie she voted for Matty. This forced a 2-2 tie between Bob and Matty leading to a fire making tiebreaker. Bob's fire burned through the rope before Matty's even got started which in turn sent Matty to the jury. At the final tribal council between Bob, Sugar, and Susie, Corinne beat Borneo's Rats and Snakes speech by Susan Hawk by giving the new nastiest jury speech in the history of Survivor. She insulted Sugar by telling her that she would only give her antidepressants. Jeff Probst then read the votes live where Bob Crowley became Sole Survivor and won the $1,000,000 prize 4:3 with the other 3 votes going to Susie. By the way, my opinions on Survivor Tocantins: The Brazilian Highlands, and The Amazing Race 14 are coming soon.

Finish Line

Amazing Race 13 Theme

Amazing Race 13

On yesterday's finale of the 13th season of The Amazing Race, the final 3 teams (Andrew/Dan, Ken/Tina, and Nick/Starr) flew from Moscow, Russia to Portland, Oregon. Once in Portland, they needed to go to a logging camp in the suburbs for their final detour which was a choice between climbing up a 30 foot tree, and then jumping for half of the clue, or trying to walk on a narrow log in the river. Ken/Tina arrived at the logging camp first, but Tina's fear of heights slowed them down enough for Nick/Starr to pass them. By the way, all 3 teams chose the tree climbing detour option. I would of chose the tree climbing option as well, because we do a balance warm - up in gym class at my school which I never do properly. The teams then zip-lined from the Bridge of the Gods to an island in the river. The teams then had to find a specific picture from each leg of the race from 150 clue boxes. After that, the teams needed to find a Russian food cart, and finally go to a Voodoo Doughnut. I was actually curious to see what so special about it after the show so I looked it up and now I might want to go to Portland myself for a dirt doughnut (by the way I live in Maple Shade, New Jersey so that's kind of far for me to go for it). After finding Voodoo Doughnut, the teams raced to the finish line, The Pittock Mansion. In the end, Nick/Starr crossed the finish line first and won The Amazing Race 13 & the $1,000,000 that goes with it.

Survivor Gabon

On the 5th episode of Survivor Gabon, Fang's camp was invaded by an elephant. Only Ace & Matty decided to take a closer look, as the rest of the tribe was scared of the elephant. If I was on Fang, I wouldn't try to frighten the elephant, but I would take a closer look as elephants are my favorite animal. I wouldn't be scared at all myself because I know that elephants are herbivores. At the reward challenge, the tribes had to throw various kinds of fruit into the their goal which was blocked by 2 members from the opposing tribe. The tribe who caught the most fruit by weight won an herb garden and all the fruit collected in the challenge. At first, Fang had a huge lead over Kota who had almost no fruit at all, because of Ace's excellent fruit blocking skills. Kota eventually decided to throw 2 pieces of fruit at a time which was too much for Ace to handle. Shockingly, Fang never caught on to Kota's strategy and stuck with throwing 1 piece of fruit at a time. Additonaly when Kota got the hang of getting the lighter fruits into their goal, they started throwing the heaviest fruits available. In the end, Kota's change of strategy was enough of a comeback for them to win the herb garden and all the fruit caught in this challenge. When Fang got back to camp, GC was getting fed up with the rest of Fang so much that he even used the tribe's kayak to get away from the rest of Fang suggesting he wouldn't participate in the immunity challenge that was approaching. His tribemates constantly called his name, but he ignored them all until just a few moments before the immunity challenge when he finally decided to participate. At the immunity challenge, the 2 tribes had to throw a ball made out of sticks while down a hill where 1 blocker who was blindfolded and 1 caller to aid their blindfolded tribemate from each tribe tried to prevent the ball from going into 1 of the goals each worth a different amount of points. Ace (Fang) and Dan (Kota) were the blockers, while Sugar (Fang) and Randy (Kota) were the callers. After each tribe member who wasn't a blocker or caller did this once, the tribe with the most points won immunity from tribal council. It looked like Fang was going to win for almost the entire challenge, but in the very last round Ace blocked his own tribe's ball while Kota scored 2 points which was enough for Kota to win immunity 8:7 as for Kota was behind Fang by only 1 point. Back at Fang's camp GC told Matty that he wanted to be voted out. Matty then told the rest of Fang about GC's request. Crystal looked through Sugar's bag which contained the hidden immunity idol from Exile. Sugar should of found a better hiding place for her hidden immunity idol. Leaving the bag for others to clearly see is just plain stupid. Now that the rest of Fang knows that she has the idol, she has an unecessary target on her back which could lead to the idol being flushed out sooner in the game. In fact, Fang aside from Ace and Sugar considered voting her out as GC's desire to quit provided them with a perfect opportunity to blindsight her. At tribal council, Fang voted out GC 6:1. Did GC even watch Survivor before he applied for it? After all, in all 16 of the previous seasons of Survivor the most stragegic players all backstabbed, lied, and betrayed other castaways at some point in the game which according to GC is why he quit. Basically, GC said he quit because he doesn't like how the game of Survivor works. From Fang's prespective I think they should of let GC suffer through another week and voted out Sugar as for she's a strong player, has the hidden immunity idol, and she wouldn't of expected at all to be voted out due to GC which would easily blindsight Sugar, and make the hidden immunity idol available to another castaway.

Survivor Gabon Theme

Survivor Gabon

On the 2nd episode of Survivor Gabon, the remaining castaways had to wrestle 1 of the other tribe's castaways off a pole and drag them across the finish line. The 1st tribe to that twice would win blankets, and a hammock. Ace made a smart move for Kota to sit out their 3 strongest women; Corinne, Jacquie, and Kelly (this challenge required and equal number of men and women on both tribes). Fang sat out their weakest man; Ken. Fang won the comfortable blankets and hammock thanks to the 2nd round when Fang easily forced the physically weak Paloma across the finish line. Fang then decided to exile Sugar from the Kota tribe. That proved to be a bad move for Fang as Sugar found the hidden immunity idol while she was exiled. At the immunity challenge, the castaways had to go on a slip and slide into the water where they would have to swim to grab a numbered puzzle piece. When all 6 of the puzzle pieces were retrieved, the puzzle solver (Kota chose Bob while Fang chose Ken) would have to have to use the puzzle pieces to solve a math problem which would be solved with the numbers on the puzzle pieces. When the puzzle was answered correctly it would open up a chest which would contain an axe in it which would be used to cut down a rope rasing the tribal flag. The 1st tribe to raise their flag would win immunity. Kota was the 1st to retrieve all 6 of their numbered puzzle pieces from the water. Fang caught up when Ken made quick work of the math puzzle which Bob struggled on. Ken's puzzle work won Fang immunity. At Kota's camp Ace smartly came up with a plan to convince his fellow tribe mates to vote off Paloma who is Kota's weakest castaway. I think that Ace was right on Paloma being the weakest even though Bob was responsible for Kota losing the immunity challenge, because most of the challenges in Survivor are more physical than mental. At tribal council, Ace's plan worked and Paloma was voted off 7-2. I'm defintely rooting for Ace to win right now as he's currently the smartest player in the game.

Big Brother 10

On the final week of Big Brother 10, the 3 remaining house guests (Dan, Jerry, and Memphis) had to stand on an airplane that constantly titled from left to right (a lot like a pendulum). The house guest who stayed on the longest would win the 1st part of the 3 part final Head of Household competition guaranteeing that house guest a spot in the 3rd part of the competition, meaning they would not need to compete in the 2nd part of the competition. Jerry lost his balance and fell off the plane 1st, and a little bit later Memphis decided to save his energy for the 2nd part by falling off the plane next giving his fellow Renegade alliance member Dan a ridiculously easy guaranteed spot in the 3rd part. In the 2nd part, Jerry and Memphis had to show the Head of Household and the 2 nominees for eviction for each week in the Big Brother house as quickly as possible. They did this by putting on boxing gloves and knocking down all of the cardboard house guests that were not either on the chopping block before the veto ceremony or Head of Household that week. Memphis won this competition by a landslide which sealed Jerry's eviction regardless of who became the final Head of Household as for Jerry was ineligible to compete in the 3rd part. I was desperately hoping Jerry would manage to win Head of Household as for I was rooting for him to win after my favorite house guest Renny was evicted. Not to mention I can't stand either one of the Renegades (Dan and Memphis). In the 3rd part which technically did not event matter, Dan and Memphis had to guess what statement each jury member made while they were in the jury house. Julie Chen gave Dan and Memphis 2 possible choices. 1 of them was true and the other was false. Each correct response was worth 1 point. The house guest who had the highest score after all 7 questions would become the final Head of Household of Big Brother 10. I knew all of the answers, though that's probably because all of them were very memorable and was shown on a previous episode of Big Brother 10. In the end, Dan became the final Head of Household, and obviously chose to evict Jerry making Dan and Memphis the final 2. On the season finale of Big Brother 10, Dan and Memphis were questioned by the jury about why they were more worthy of $500,000. The jury then voted for Dan Gheesling to win Big Brother 10 by a unanimous 7-0 vote. As much as I couldn't stand Dan, I will say he was better than Memphis who went under the radar the whole game while Dan did Memphis's dirty work and played the game very strategically as well.

Big Brother 10 Theme

The Mole 5

On the 2 part season finale of The Mole 5, the 3 finalists had to diffuse a bomb by disconnecting the correct wire. They figured this out by matching major world cities with their time zone's difference from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). They then had to write the corresponding letters on a chalkboard in the appropriate spaces. The mission was successful giving the pot an extra $50,000 bringing the total to $418,500. The final mission was to search Santiago's streets for clues while completing different tasks on the way. Mark won the task choosing the mole's dossier over an extra $75,000 to the pot. Jon Kelly gave the pot a final bonus making the official grand prize $420,000. Mark, Nicole, and Craig then took the final quiz. When the final results were revealed, Mark won The Mole 5 and $420,000. Craig was revealed as The Mole.

The Mole 5

On the July 14, 2008 episode of The Mole 5, the remaining contestants had to find wine bottles hidden throughout 1 of Argentina's largest vineyards for their 1st mission. There were a total of 7 wine bottles hidden in the vineyard. Craig and Nicole were responsible for solving the 7 brain teasers which if correct gave Paul the exact geographic coordinate of where 1 of the wine bottles was hidden. Paul was then responsible for sending the corresponding signal to Alex and Clay. Alex and Clay were then responsible for running to grab the wine bottle with help from an arrow on their GPS units that pointed in the direction of the geographic coordinate that was given by Paul, and giving the wine bottle back to Jon Kelly. At the same time, Mark had to run on a treadmill which increased in speed every time a wine bottle was found if he stopped or fell off the treadmill the mission would end. Fortunetly, for everybody except for the mole, Mark managed to stay on the treadmill until all 7 wine bottles were found and brought back to Jon Kelly which was an incredible accoplisment considering the fact that after the 6th wine bottle was found Mark had to run at maximum speed. The highest I ever ran on a treadmill was 6 miles per hour, and considering the fact that most treadmills have a maximum speed of 15 miles per hour I most certainly couldn't run at maximum speed myself. Additionally, I usually just walk when I go on the treadmill, not to mention that I rarely go to the gym. Each bottle of wine found was worth $10,000, increasing the pot by $70,000 to a total of $247,000.

For their 2nd mission, the contestants had to bungee jump from a bridge that was 90 feet above a gorge. While they were bungee jumping, they had to toss a teabag into 1 of their targets. The bullseye was worth $10,000, the inner ring was worth $6,000, and the outer ring was worth $4,000. Each of the contesants were the opportunity to earn an exemption by guessing the total amount of money that would added to the pot in this mission. The contestant who guessed the closest to the actualy amount without going over would win an exemption. If all the contestants guessed too high, nobody would win an exemption. Alex was the only contestant to toss the teabag into any of the targets. He hit it in the outer ring, increasing the pot by $4,000 for a total of $251,000.

Clay and Mark came up with a plan to try to get Alex drunk by giving him an extra glass of wine at dinner so he would have a harder time at the quiz. Alex shockingly accepted the extra drink of wine from Clay without even thinking that it could possibly be a trap. At the execution meeting, Clay and Mark's plan worked perfectly with Alex being executed. Indeed the extra glass proved to be too much for Alex to handle, not to mention that if Alex actually thought about why Clay would be giving up a glass of wine for Alex, he could of easily realized that there was a strong possibility it was a strategic trap to get him executed. While I strongly discourage the idea of drinking alcohol entirely, you should especially never drink alcohol while driving, or before taking the quiz if you drink alcohol at all.

Big Brother 10

Big Brother 10 started on July 13, 2008 on CBS, and for the first time since Big Brother 3 there were no preexisting relationships between the house guests. Donald Trump instructed Trace Adkins and Piers Morgan that they had to decide between themselves who would be responsible for which parts of the important final task. Trace Adkins took responsibility for meeting the Backstreet Boys's needs, while Piers Morgan took responsibility for catering the food to the guests. Both finalists took responsiblity for choosing items for the auction. Trace Adkins had problems with the Backstreet Boys's absurd needs which included wheatgrass and nail polish. Piers Morgan had problems with his team respecting him, which didn't shock me, because Piers Morgan is very brutal and mean, and didn't deserve an ounce of respect at the time. When all the items auctioned off, Piers Morgan managed to raise a considerable higher amount of money than Trace Adkins did. This was mainly to due to Simon Cowell from American Idol bidding over $100,000 for a shopping spree with Ivanka Trump over the telephone. On the other hand, Trace Adkins definetly had better management and leadership skills than Piers Morgan. It then went on to the live final boardroom where Donald Trump decided that Piers Morgan was worthy of the title of Celebrity Apprentice and gave Piers Morgan $250,000 to his charity, the Interprid Fallen Heros Fund which helps families of war victims. On the other hand, I would have gave Trace Adkins the title of Celebrity Apprentice if I were Donald Trump, because Trace Adkins had incredible management and leadership skills, excellent charmisa, and also was pretty good at selling throughout the course of the 1st season of Celebrity Apprentice.

The Mole 5 Theme

The Amazing Race 12

On the season finale of The Amazing Race 12, the final 3 teams (Nicolas/Donald, Rachel/TK, and Ronald/Christina) left Taipei, Taiwan to fly to their final destination city, Anchorage, Alaska. All 3 teams managed to make it onto the same last flight. For their final detour, the teams had to fillet an Alaskan cod to see one piece which had a clue in it, or enter a tank with 50 live crabs and search for the 1 crab who was holding their next clue. I would of chose the crab detour as for it looked at a lot quicker and easier than filleting a cod especially considering the fact I'm a vegetarian. Rachel/TK had a lot of trouble with the crab detour choice however due to Rachel not being comfortable with crabs. Then the teams had to climb over a tall ice wall which while Ronald/Christina struggled with, but because they had a good lead from earlier in the leg they still managed to maintain their lead. Then it was on to the final roadblock which required the teams to match 1 item to each of the 10 countries they visited during this season of The Amazing Race. Additonally the teams, were required to use an exact number of items in different categories including animals and their byproducts, items brought to a pit stop, and transportation vehicles with wheels. Both Ronald/Christina and Nicolas/Donald struggled a lot with this final roadblock. In the end, neither team managed to make up for their roadblock difficulties and Rachel/TK reached the finish line 1st and won The Amazing Race 12 and the $1,000,000 prize that goes with it.

Big Brother 9 Theme

Survivor Micronesia: Fans vs Favorites Theme

Celebrity Apprentice Theme

Survivor Micronesia Fans vs. Favorites

Survivor Micronesia Fans vs. Favorites starts on February 7, 2008 at 8:00 PM on CBS and I'm so excited. I sure did. In an earlier post, I wrote about my Christmas wish list, well I got 2 of those things and of course quite a few things I never even knew existed but I am quite excited about. I got a digital camera so now I can take pictures of my own for this blog. I also got Sim City Societies which I haven't played yet, but I'm going to soon. I got the Deal or No Deal Electronic Banker Game. Deal or No Deal is one of my favorite game shows only behind 1 vs 100 so I was pretty excited when I got this game and I most certainly can't wait to play it. For Christmas dinner, I had penne pasta with Parmesan cheese (my family's Italian so I eat it a lot), stuffing, corn, rolls, apple pie, and of course eggnog. If you're wondering why I didn't have any meat, its because I'm a vegetarian. While I didn't get any Survivor buffs, I have enough money to buy them especially after opening a card with $50 in it. I can also buy the Wikinomics book with my $50 Barnes & Noble gift card. So all and I had an incredible Christmas.
