Realized Potential

Hi,

I'm RealizedPotential. Host and creator of the YouTube channel RealizedPotential, where I upload various videos, mostly blender related art, tutorials, and test. So far, I haven’t uploading any tutorials on modeling. I don't really do much modeling so I don't really consider myself to be that good at it yet.

None the less, I started this project. It took more than 2 months of my spare time to get to this point. It was great practice and overall I’m happy with the way it turned out.

The Ideal behind the project actually came about when I was thinking about possible solutions to a problem. Blender 2.5 and greater won’t work on my Raspberry Pi (a cheap and low power credit card sized computer) or my very old Window XP laptop. I think the problem has to do with the way the newer versions of blender renders its interface. So I wondered… what if blender’s interface was rendered by blender instead of OpenGL. I think the answer is that blender the cycles render engine on the Raspberry Pi would be painfully slow. But still, I wondered what the interface would look like in 3D. This project is the result of that curiosity.

I wanted to sell this model on the BlenderMarket for about $30 but my application to become a vendor has been rejected because of a poor portfolio. Like I said, I don’t really do much modeling. The model can now be purchased here. I decided to go with a flexible payment option so you can pay whatever you think its worth. There are always those who are unwilling to pay for anything blender related. If that is the case, It will also be available for free.

Blender is GPL and techniquely this work is a derivative of blender so it is also offered under the same license. I don't require any attribution although that would be nice. I do ask that you don't just resale the model. It would be great if you soled work based on the model. I would love to see this on a magazine cover or book. Or use it as an intro to a blender video tutorial. These are just some ideas. Happy blending!!!

Here are some screen shots to show detail and perspective. Feel free to use them as well under the same terms, maybe as a desktop wallpaper.

Finally, please consider subscribing to my youtube page.

I know this is silly and maybe a little twisted, but it made me laugh so I thought I would share it. I found it on a website call Motionographer.com. Great site if you are into 3d, Motion graphic design, or just want to see an interesting video from time to time... And for the record I have no affiliation with that web site.

Roanoke Fast Forward - Time Lapse of a Beautiful City

2011-12-22T13:47:00.000-08:00

I created this time lapse video to show the beauty of the city that I live in. It was created using a camera phone to take thousand of pictures which were later combined using software called Blender 2.61. It was my hope to show the city in a new and exciting way. I hope you like it.

Thanks for watching,

Find Fast Answers Virus

2011-09-15T23:53:00.000-07:00

I some how got infected with a virus that redirected my browser to a website called "Find Fast Answers". It was really frustrating because every time I did a search using either google or yahoo I would end up at that stupid website. What I did to fix the problem was upgrade my browser to the latest version of firefox. That seemed to work but Im still having the same problem. Im also going to get an antivirus program McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2011 3-User
for good measure.

Colorful Fluid Music

2011-09-10T11:33:00.000-07:00

This is a playful 3d music visualization done using the free blender 3d 2.58 and audacity software. Blender was used for the preview and final render. Audacity was used to separate the audio into different frequencies using the equalizer filter. The preview was done using blender's build in OpenGL preview with the rendered only option set. If you are an user of Blender 3d then you may want to check out my multiple fluid domain video tutorial on YouTube. There is a link to it on this website.

The title of the piece that is performed is "Ludwig van Beethoven - symphony no. 4 in b flat major, op. 60 - iv. allegro ma non troppo" and is preformed by the Skidmore College Orchestra. If you would like to buy a mp3 of this song. Here is a link.

The version in the link is by a different performer and does have the coughing or "skip" in the background. Please note, I would earn a commission for the purchase.

This is not one of my videos but I thought that it was cool. Check it out. I plan to do some music visualizations myself.

Cycles Blender Icon

2011-09-01T09:16:00.000-07:00

I currently use 3 different version of blender. I still use 2.49 usually for baking fluid simulation data. I find it's fluid simulation to be less buggy than that of 2.5x. I am using 2.58 for almost everything else. Maybe I will upgrade to 2.59 soon, but the only new feature I saw that I was really interested in is the tree plugin. On a few projects, I use blender cycles for rendering. Unfortunately, all three version (2.49, 2.58, and cycles) have the same icon. For the cycles version, I decided that it would be cool if I had a version of the icon actually rendered in cycles, so I downloaded a copy of the blender logo made by Daniel Gonsalves from www.blendswap.com. I changed the materials and modified it, then rendered it in blender cycles (640 by 640 pixels.) Next I edited the image in gimp 2.6 and saved the new image as a .ico file (64 by 64 pixels.) Finally, I created a shortcut to blender cycles and set the shortcut to use the new icon. Feel free to reuse and or modify the image in this blog post.

Programs I downloaded

2011-08-31T13:40:00.000-07:00

I downloaded Hypercam 2 today. Its free screen capture software. I also downloaded the Camtasia demo a few days ago but I never used it. I think Camtasia is way out of my price range. I plan to down the Sony Vegas demo later on today. I currently am using camstudio. Hopefully the Hypercam/ Sony Vegas combo will yield a better quality of tutorials. There is no way to adjust the volume of my mic input and my views have complaint that the volume is to low in my first tutorial. Based on the listed feature set, I think you get much value with Sony Vegas/ Hypercam. I also downloaded the FL Studio 10 demo. I've been wanting to play with that for a while!!! I used Blender 3D to make 3D videos maybe I can now make my own music.

My New Website
