Considering Your Upgrade Options

Will you perform an in-place upgrade to Vista or start fresh? Depending upon what edition of Windows you have today and to which edition you wish to upgrade, you may have fewer choices than you thought. If you have XP Pro and wish to upgrade to Vista Home Premium you will need to perform a clean installation. This podcast discusses the upgrade paths available for the different editions of Vista as well as some real-world experince with in place upgrades.

Namely the Network Connectivity Status Indicator (NCSI) and the Network Diagnostics Framework (NDF), which aim make things easier on users by allowing users them to help themselves when it comes to network connectivity issues. It is a pretty cool feature capable of diagnosing and repairing hundreds of the most common network issues related to such problems as Internet connectivity, file sharing and wireless networking.
