Hey guys! So if you read my post on "10 thing's I've loved during lockdown", you might have seen I mentioned I was trying out some personal vitamins. I've been trialling a set of personalised vitamins from The Personalised Co for 30 days and I thought I'd share my views!

So I'm a total novice when it comes to vitamins and what the hell you are supposed to take. There are thousands of different types out there for sale, but very little guidance when it comes to what is worth the money. After some heavy googling one night, I stumbled upon The Personalised Co and saw that they had a quiz you could take, which would recommend the best-suited vitamins for you. Finally, a vitamin website that isn't confusing as hell! They chucked a cute water bottle in for good measure and the deed was done.

The Quiz

The quiz was super easy to take and didn't have any overly complicated health questions in there. It took me just under 10 minutes to complete the quiz and I was given a set of recommended vitamins, all ready to purchase as a one time offer or by monthly subscription. It was great to see they weren't pushing you to subscribe with overly cut down prices - both options are priced the same.

All of the recommendations made sense based on how I answered my quiz and the website has really good explanations for each vitamin and the research behind it. The quiz seems to recommend items that would come to a round figure of £30, most likely so it's easy to price subscriptions.

Delivery

Delivery took around 10 working days. As soon as I placed my order, I received an email informing me it may take up to 14 working days to arrive due to the coronavirus causing issues. I think this is totally understandable, especially for a small business.

I love the packaging and the fact that there is a little packet for each day (fully recyclable and eco-friendly). The daily quotes are also really cute, but a few of them were faded. I love the free water bottle I received and it was a really nice way to welcome first-time customers.

Results

It's really hard to review whether vitamins truly work, as it could be a combination of things making you feel and look better. But since I've been taking them daily, I think my skin has been clearer, I can sleep better and I just feel a little healthier. Taking that many a day can be a bit challenging if you aren't used to it, so maybe keep that in mind if you are ordering a box.

Since I first made my order, The Personalised Co have added some really nice updates to their site. Now you have your own dashboard where you can easily re-order and see your results. You can also earn rewards for being loyal, which is an amazing incentive.

I have re-ordered another box, but I swapped Lemon Balm for Omega 3, as this has strong research claiming to "help with inflammation, muscle recovery, heart health and promote optimal brain development". This also made it £1 cheaper, which is always nice.

Now you can easily add each vitamin separately if you prefer, rather than go with the quiz results. However, I should have probably ordered these a little earlier as my current box will run out before the new one comes (I guess this is where the subscription option is handy!)

REVOLUTION PRO CC PERFECTING FOUNDATION REVIEW: IT COSMETICS DUPE?

Hey guys! So I've wanted to try the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream, since the old days of beauty guru youtube, when it seemed to be the only foundation people raved about. However, at the time it was quite hard to find the product in the UK and it slowly drifted into the back of my mind when other foundations took over the beauty world.

So, I was so excited to see that Revolution Pro had come out with the CC Perfecting Foundation, which looks suspiciously similar to the famous It Cosmetic one - and we all know Revolution is the queen of dupes. I thought I'd share my thoughts on this cruelty-free foundation and whether it lives up to the hype.

More about me

Now before we begin the review, its best to know exactly what I am dealing with, as foundations respond differently to every skin type. If you have read my blog for a while, you'd know I used to have dry/normal skin, but recently my skin has changed a lot - meaning my preference has also changed.

My skin type is combination & blemish-prone with some redness, so I have to make sure my foundation choice can cope with oil production, as well as dry skin patches - whilst covering up and spots & redness, yikes.

Revolution Pro CC Perfecting Foundation SPF30 - £10.00

Packaging

I really like the style of the bottle & pump on this foundation. It's nice and easy to fit into a makeup bag but still has a convenient pump to stop things from getting messy. Although I prefer the silver design on the IT cosmetics version, the packaging on the Reolvution dupe is pretty cute and clearly resembles the foundation it is inspired by.

However, when you start to use the product, it feels like there is a lot of air inside and not a lot of product. If you check the bottle, you'd see Revolution gives you only 26ml, instead of the standard 30ml. Although it is very reasonably priced at £10, just be aware that it may run out quicker than expected.

Shade Selection

I bought the shade F6.5 for my natural skin tone, after watching a review from sophdoeslife and seeing how light the shades are. This is described as "for light/medium skin tones with a yellow undertone" which I would agree with. I usually buy shades F6 in other revolution foundations and this shade is similar. Shades run on the light side, but it seems to oxidize ever so slightly after application.

Application

I tried this foundation with a brush and a sponge and the best finish I could get is with a sponge. It's a thick formula, so using a sponge helps it sink into your skin and look less cakey. I use two pumps to cover my whole face and to build on any areas which might need extra coverage.

Formula & Finish

It's quite hard to blend - especially just using a brush. I've used this a couple of times now and I find it can break up and look a little weird on certain areas of my skin - especially on my dry areas. It looks a bit cakey to begin with, but after a few minutes, it starts to warm up to my skin and sink in.

I'd describe the coverage as medium-full and covered well. The finish was surprisingly matte, as I expected a product like this to be a lot dewier. It looks nice when it has had a chance to settle, but after a few hours of wear, my oily spots look very shiny and the foundation starts to further separate on my skin.

The reason I wanted to try this product is because of the skincare benefits and SPF30, but to be honest, I don't think this foundation agrees with my skin and I break out after using it. I think if you have normal, unproblematic skin with not a lot of texture this would look really nice, but for me, I'd give it a pass.

Pricing

This foundation is really affordable at £10, but personally, I think Revolution make a lot better foundations. However, if you want to try it out, it won't break the bank!

DYING MY HAIR PINK! BLEACH LONDON REVIEW

Hey guys! How's lockdown going? Well for me, I think I've started to go insane and out of boredom, I decided to dye my hair bright pink because - well, why not?

I've seen so many people dying their hair on TikTok and the colour that's stood out for me is Bleach London's Super Cool Colour in the shade "The Big Pink". So I decided to order it and try it out.

I ordered the dye on a whim, at approximately 12am when I should have been sleeping. Bleach London delivered to my door 2 days later, beating the delivery of my Amazon Prime orders. I couldn't recommend the delivery enough, so I am glad I ordered it directly from their site.

The dying process, however, was a hell of a lot messier then I expected. Because the dye is so bright, it's very obvious if you spill it everywhere and I spent a lot of time rubbing my skin with a makeup wipe to remove stains from my face, neck and ears Make sure you wear gloves with this one!

I used a full bottle, as I wanted to make sure I covered every single strand to prevent it from looking patchy. The formula is easy to apply and has a nice scent. You could mix this colour with conditioner if you wanted a less vibrant colour - but I thought "fuck it" and applied it straight on. I left it for 30 minutes as the bottle suggested, then rinsed out. My shower looked very interesting.

I took my hair out the towel and to my shock, my hair was luminous pink. It almost looks a bit like one of those highlighters in the sun. But I absolutely love it. I feel a bit like a shit anime character, but I am living for it.

I am going to see how the shade fades over time, but I think I'll definitely buy this colour again. I've seen a few tips saying to use Bleach London's Rose Shampoo & Conditioner to prolong the colour, so next time I might buy those too to see if it makes much of a difference.

if you are thinking of dying your hair, take this post as a sign and just do it - fuck it, it's not like we are going anywhere!

THE WORK FROM HOME EDIT: LOCKDOWN EDITION

Hey guys! So like many others, I've taken to working from home during the UK lockdown (fucking coronavirus). I've been working remotely for over a month now, as I am super lucky to work for a cloud-based business.

This whole "working from home" thing is pretty new to me, but I've picked up a few helpful tips that I thought would be worth sharing for anyone who is in the same boat as me.

Useful Tools

There are some amazing tools out there that can really make working from home a lot easier.

Here are my top 5:

1. Canva

I have used Canva for years, most of what I design for this blog is designed via Canva. This is a free editing tool many businesses use to create beautiful content.

Now is a great time to concentrate on content for your business, as people are more active on social media, so get creative.

2. InVision

This is a new discovery for me! This is basically an online whiteboard that you can use for hangout meetings. This makes training from home a lot more interactive and fun - providing everybody behaves.

3. Project Management Tools

My job is usually made up of lots of different tasks that need to be completed for a set period of time. I use a project management tool to help me schedule these tasks and keep track of everything in one place.

My workplace uses Wrike, which has a lot of amazing premium tools you can use to increase efficiency, but I have heard Trello is a great alternative.

4. Slack

Communication is key to a successful team, but remote working makes this difficult. I'd recommend finding a strong communication channel where you can all keep each other up to date. I use slack, which is perfect as you can integrate many useful applications to increase communication abilities. Plus the banter capabilities are A*.

5. Google Hangouts

Google Hangouts is the perfect platform to host online meetings. I personally don't enjoy Zoom much, as there always seems to be technical difficulties! Google Hangouts is also a great tool to use to stay in touch with friends and family as it is simple and free to use!

Managing Work/Life Balance

Tools are great, but the biggest struggle remote working creates is the negative effects it can have on our mental health. This, on top of lockdown restrictions, makes it a difficult time mentally for many of us.

Here are my top 5 tips to stay sane:

1. Separate workspace

If you can, find a different room to where you sleep to work in. If your workspace and rest space are the same, it makes it really hard for you to switch off and get some quality sleep without stressing about work.

I know this can be difficult, even for me its a struggle living in a one-bedroom apartment and not having an office space to escape to. However, the more you can separate work and life, the better.

2. Set working hours

It can be very easy to blur the lines between work and life. Make sure you give yourself set times to start and finish work, as well as a set lunch break. This will stop you from over-working, or from procrastinating.

To make sure you stick to this, schedule some time in for a hangout call with colleagues at the beginning and end of your working day, to discuss what you've got planned for the day.

3. Pick up hobbies

A lot of hobbies you may have enjoyed previously are probably put on hold for now (pub, I miss you too). If that's the case, try and pick up a new hobby to keep yourself entertained after work. Personally, I've taken to blogging again and doing some Yoga in the morning.

4. Listen to music

I hate working in silence! When I am in the office, it's never silent - so why should it be at home? Put on your favourite playlist for a serotonin boost, or listen to some Lo-Fi music when you need to concentrate on tasks.

5. Stay in touch with work friends

It can be really easy to lose touch with people when you are secluded to your own space. Make sure to schedule some time to catch up with your work friends, just like you would when you go to make a cup of tea in the office. Company culture is so important to any business, so try and keep the culture going outside the office too!

10 THINGS I'VE LOVED DURING LOCKDOWN

Hey guys! I've seen a trend going around where people are talking about things they have been loving in lockdown, in the attempt to spread some positive vibes.

So here we go, here are my top 10 random things I've been loving!

1. Yoga

I would have never, ever of thought Yoga would make my top 10 of anything, but lockdown is doing strange things to me.

I missed the feeling of going to the gym and I heard that Yoga was a nice way to re-energise in the morning, so I YouTube'd "Yoga for beginners" and stumbled upon SarahBethYoga's 10 minute morning yoga.

Next thing you know, I have a yoga mat and personalised vitamins delivered to my door (blog review pending...)

2. Disney +

I think this will have made quite a few people's top 10 list because Disney could not have timed the release of Disney + anymore perfectly. As I write this post I am watching The Princess Diaries, an absolute classic.

3. TikTok

I have no shame. I am still technically a Gen Z after all?

4. Tame Impala

There is something about the bass in "The Less I Know The Better" that is just pure vibes.

5. Skins

I have no idea how many times I have rewatched this show, but the increase in Skins memes on TikTok made me want to watch it again. If you have never seen it, please spend your time wisely in lockdown and give it ago.

Also, if you never went through an Effy phase in your teens, you haven't lived.

6. Lo-Fi Beats

I am working full-time at home and Lo-Fi beats are the only thing keeping me sane. I can't work in silence because it drives me crazy, but Lo-Fi offers distraction-free music, perfect for when you need to concentrate on tasks.

7. Cooking

Now I actually have the time to pay attention to what I am doing, cooking has become a nice highlight of the day. Baking has also made a reappearance, even if I am really bad at it.

8. Tea

My addiction to Yorkshire tea was already pretty bad working in an office, but now I am a few meters away from my kettle, things have escalated.

I make a banging cuppa tea though.

9. Skincare

If you haven't seen my latest post, you should check it out because I am really enjoying looking after my skin at the moment. Taking some time out of your day for self-care is really important. Don't forget about you, boo.

10. Xbox 360

So I am too broke to buy myself a Nintendo Switch and join the Animal Crossings hype, so I've taken it back to old school times. Yes, that's right, Star Wars Lego is back in action.

SHRINE DROP IT: FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Hey guys! So if any of you are on TikTok, you've probably seen a bunch of people dying their hair every colour in the rainbow using the new SHRINE drop it semi-permanent hair drops.

Since I've become accustomed to Barney coloured lilac hair, I thought it would only be right to share my first impressions of using these drops in the shade "Purple".

I started by adding conditioner and a good squirt of hair drops and mixed until it looked like an ideal shade. What's great about these drops is the ability to choose the shade you want by adding more or fewer drops. You'll need to make sure you have plenty of conditioner on hand for this and if you have longer hair, add more.

I loved the silicone bowl and applicator that came with the set as it made it super easy to see how much to mix and to apply. It would be good if they sold the drops separately, as I can't imagine I would need another bowl when this runs out and it would be great to save some money without having the mixing bowl included. Make sure you wear some gloves to prevent some questionable looking stains on your hands.

SHRINE Drop It in Purple - £12.99

I left the mixture on for 20 minutes instead of the recommended 10 minutes, as I didn't think that sounded long enough considering I usually leave my semi-permanent dye for 30 minutes.

I usually use Crazy Colour dye in "Lavender" and I don't dilute it at all, as I find when you start mixing conditioner it doesn't take very well.

I think I could have added a few more drops to make the colour more vibrant, but I was in love with the pastel lilac result I got - the video really doesn't do the shade justice.

I think my favourite part of the drops is the colour, it's a beautiful shade of purple and I like it a lot more than my usual Crazy Colour shade. I guess the only downside to the product is that it didn't last too long before washing out, but I could have added more drops for it to last longer.

What I think is great is that you can mix together your own "purple shampoo" with these drops, to help in between washes to keep the colour vibrant. The flexibility is really unique for a hair dye product and what I imagine has made these drops so popular.

These drops might not be as cheap as what I usually use, however, you can get quite a few uses out of the bottle and it is a really cute set - not to mention the amazing shades available.

I can't wait to use these drops again and potentially try out the pink drops if they ever come back in stock!

MY LOCKDOWN SKINCARE ROUTINE

Hey guys! Long time, no see... Jokes aside, I thought since the UK is stuck in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, now would be the perfect time to pick up blogging again...

So why not kick it off with an old fashioned, beauty orientated blog?

So if you are a long time reader (p.s. sorry for ghosting), you will know I've always reviewed skincare and makeup with the "disclaimer" that I have normal/dry skin. Well apparently a lot can change in the space of a year - and since then my skin has had a massive freak out.

My skin is now combination/oily and pretty damn problematic. This means all the products I used to use are basically, absolutely useless, so I've had to change some things up.

Now my skin is far from perfect, but I have definitely seen some improvements since swapping to this skincare routine and giving makeup a bit of a rest whilst I've been stuck inside. So if you are looking for some new products to add to your collection, stay tuned.

1. My favourite cleanser - Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

So maybe not everything about me has changed - yes, this product is STILL in my favourites. I've used this cleanser since I was 15 and I still swear by it as "the best cleaner on the market", regardless of your skin type.

Pop this bad boy all over your dry face and eye area (it even removes makeup) and wash off using a muslin cloth. Double cleanse to make sure you are squeaky clean.

2. The newcomer - Face Theory Colloidal-C Anti-Redness Toner T3

Face Theory Colloidal-C Anti-Redness Toner T3 - £14.99

Toner is probably one of my favourite parts of my skincare routine because I love how soothing it feels when you use it. I've been using this Face Theory cleaner recently, as I've always struggled with redness and sensitive skin. I've only been using this product a week or two, but so far I've been loving it and have noticed a difference in reduced redness.

Drop a few drops onto a cotton pad, or reusable bamboo cotton round if you want to be more environmentally friendly.

3. The gamechanger - Face Theory Regenacalm 2% Retinol & Vitamin C Serum S1

This guy is the real star of the show and is why I am buying more and more Face Theory products. I've been using this product for over a month now and since I've seen fewer breakouts, acne scars starting to fade and reduced redness. I can't imagine my skincare routine without this product anymore!

Use a few drops on areas of concern after toning and before moisturiser. Make sure you use SPF if you are leaving the house.

4. The dupe - Lacura Facial Cream (Aldi)

Oh yes, we all love a dupe. This Aldi addition is a copy of the Khiel's Ultra Facial Cream, which used to be my GO TO before I tried to be cruelty-free with all my skincare products. Better yet, this cream is literally £3.99! This is literally amazing for the price and great if you are on a budget.

Scoop some up & use all over the face after the other steps.

5. The darkhorse - Lacura Rose Facial Oil (Aldi)

Lacura Rose Facial Oil - £3.99

Yep, another Aldi product! I bought this on a whim one day, but I noticed after I started using this, my skin looked visibly radiant the next day. The only issue is I think this has been discontinued for now, but I would look into adding Rose Oil to your routine.

I add one drop to my moisturiser (a little goes a long way).

6. The saviour - Elemis Herbal Lavender Repair Mask

Elemis Herbal Lavender Repair Mask - £33.50

Last but not least, this is a great multi-use product. I was recommended this after getting a facial once, to be used as a face mask, but even more interestingly used as a spot treatment. This is amazing at drying out breakouts overnight and lasts forever as its such a big bottle!

Either use as a face mask or use as a spot treatment overnight to dry out nasty breakouts.

SHOCKER.

Can we just take a second to understand that this has actually happened in 2019?

I am sorry, but if it isn't YOUR body, then it isn't YOUR choice.

You are telling me that if an 11-year-old girl gets raped by a 35-year-old man then she is responsible? Has the world actually gone mad?

WHY TODAY'S MATERNITY & PATERNITY POLICIES ARE OUTDATED AND OLD FASHIONED

Hey guys. It's been a while. Working full time has had an impact on my posts and I've just not felt very inspired to write anything. This is until today, I saw a post on LinkedIn that sparked rage deep inside. I wanted to share this post with you and tell you exactly what my thoughts are on today's policies on maternity and paternity leave.

So this is the post that inspired me to write today's entry. It reads:

"After 17 years in the industry, with the last 5 years being in senior leadership positions, has my career and experience really been scratched because I took 12 months off to have a baby? In the past few weeks, I have been chased by recruiters for 4 different roles. "Perfect fit" roles, according to them. However, all are junior, and all were paying at least $70k less than what I earnt before I went on leave.

"I'm assuming you're wanting something slow paced and less demanding", or this doozy "digital has changed a lot in a year so you might not be at the top of the game anymore". This should not be a thing. Ever.

I now understand why so many women leave media and advertising after having a baby. I won't be, but I now get why so many do."

How is this fair? Why are women subject to this?

I actually replied to this message with the following:

This reads:

"The whole maternity & paternity policies in place are outdated and were made to accommodate the old fashioned ways of working where the man went to work and the woman stayed at home.

Jump to today and women have just as much of a career as men, yet these policies haven't changed? How is this fair that women are disadvantaged solely because they have made the decision to create life? Why do I have to choose between my career or having children? This should not impact my chances of progression and its fundamentally wrong. I hope all businesses learn from this and ensure that their women (who are just as capable - or even more capable than their male colleagues) are able to come back to work and progress in their careers exactly the same as any male colleague. It's time to change the rules and societies expectations when it comes to working women who decide to start a family".

SO what are my exact thoughts on this issue?

1. These policies are completely outdated.

As mentioned in my rant, these policies were made back when women would typically stay at home whilst the man went to work. But the thing is, women work just as much as men do now. So why hasn't this changed to reflect that?

2. Women need to work.

The world is an expensive place to live in. It might have been sufficient to live off one person's income a few years ago, but now that is hardly the case. Life is fucking expensive. Most people need two incomes to be able to survive in this economy. Yet, women suffer as a result of creating life as they come back to work and don't get offered the same opportunities as before. How is this fair?

4. What about men? Don't they want to spend time with their child too?

These policies are still biased towards the woman being the predominant career of the child/children. But what if the man wants to take the lead? Why is it fair they only get in some cases 1 week to experience their newborn child. It's not fair that they have to miss some of the most important moments just because of an old fashioned policy.

5. What about same-sex couples?

Plenty of same-sex couples have children too. But there are no clear policies for this. I remember seeing a story on twitter about two females. One was allowed the full maternity, whilst the other only received 2 weeks as they weren't the one giving birth. Yet both are mothers to this child?

6. How are businesses supporting these new mums? They aren't.

A lot of businesses are not supporting women. They come back after giving birth with no opportunities for progression or in some cases, even lower pay grades. And how are new mums expected to follow a 9-5 working schedule? Why aren't these businesses offering flexible working hours?

I could go on all day about these issues. But what really needs to happen is change. I hope by the time I have children I'm not in the posistion as many mothers are now. I hope things get better.

8 SIGNS YOU'RE ADULTING

Hey guys. Today we are going to chat about "how you can tell you are adulting". I'm 21 if you didn't already know. Being 21 is a weird time. Some of your friends are engaged or with kids, some are still living at home. For me, 21 has been an introduction into an actual, somewhat adult life.

Now I'm not saying that I act like an adult all the time. In fact, I can pretty immature. But sometimes I'm like "wow, is this what being an adult is like?" So here I am, sharing these thoughts with you all today.

1. Commenting on how you are impressed with household items

"Wow, our mop is amazing, look at how much it picked up!?"

Admiring household objects is really a sign your becoming an adult, isn't it? You even have moments where you think "Jesus, I sound like my mum, but she was right about that whizz mop, it's great".

2. You know what council tax is

This is something I've learnt recently. Who knew council tax was so expensive? I mean I pay it, but I'm not 100% sure what my money is actually doing.

3. F*cking electric meters

I'm sorry but if you are reading an electric meter like a pro you defo have entered the grown-up club. This is still something I haven't quite mastered, due to the fact my electric meter was installed before B.C.

4. "Sorry, I can't come out tonight, I have work at 9"

Oh, the work excuse. But instead, you are actually worried about how a hangover can affect your work. The sesh is no longer prioritised like it used to be.

5. I'd rather just go to the pub

Nightclubs just don't have the same appeal now you pay council tax. You see all the 17-year-olds and freshers and it just makes you feel old.

Plus, what happened to good old conversation? The pub doesn't bang music so loud that you can actually talk to people.

6. When you sit in a room of younger people and cringe because you remember how cringey you were

The other day I had a funny experience with this exact same thing. I went to a house party and most the people there were a little younger than me, maybe in their second or first year at uni.

I sat and listened to these wild students communicate with each other. I sat and cringed to myself, thinking how embarrassing I was in this period of my life as well. Long story short, it made me feel old.

7. I don't give a fuck what I look like

Gone are the days when I took 2 hours to get ready for something. 2 hours!! I used to sit for days making my makeup perfect and curling hair.

It takes me about 10-15 mins to get ready for work now. Somehow, sleep seems more important than my appearance now. Don't get me wrong, I still like to dress up now and again but for the most part, I really don't give a f*ck.

8. General moaning

I mean I think this one is a bit obvious. This whole post is literally me moaning. I am an adult.

WHY BEING AN "AVERAGE" CLOTHING SIZE IS ANNOYING

Hey guys! Welcome back to the "Rebecca moans for 10 mins blog". Today I want to express my displeasure about being an "average" sized women.

Now before you get it twisted, "average" doesn't really exist and all women are completely different. But if you had to fit me into a category, it would probably be this one.

So what I mean by "average" is like around the 12-16 size mark. Not Instagram size 8. Not beautiful curves size 18. Just somewhere in the middle really. The reason I say "average" is because I feel like a lot of women fit in this kind of size category. I myself am around a 12, but UK's average is 16. So basically, these are things I find annoying being in this "average" clothing size category.

1. No stock

This is literally the reason why I am the queen of online shopping. Every time I go to the high street, I finally find something I think is cute.. but of course, there is none of my size left.

The thing is, a lot of women are around 12-14 size, so obviously these sizes sell out quicker. But its just annoying! If the sizes are always gone, maybe the retailers should stock more of these sizes?

It's not just the high street that is guilty. So many times Asos has announced they are doing 20% off, so I go to my saved items with the intention of buying and behold... my size is sold out. Shocking.

2. Being basically 4 different sizes on different parts of your body

Every woman is different. We all have different curves in different places. So obviously, half the time we aren't just one basic size. I find that I end up having to buy bigger sizes for my bottom half and smaller for my top for example.

It's like guesswork. Will a size 12 fit my booty in? But a 14 might be too big on the legs?

3. Not to mention inconsistency of brands

To make this whole "figuring your size" thing out harder, even brands can't decide what is really a size 12 or 16. One min your shopping on Missguided and fitting in size 10s, the next minute you're in Topshop trying on a size 16.

This really isn't great for our self-esteem either. Brands should just decide what sizes are what and be done with it. Best thing to do is ignore the number and concentrate on the fit.

4. Everything is fucking cropped

The story of my life. You know when you see a cute top, you pick it up and realise its cropped?

Like, a bit of crop here and there is fine but my body isn't really built for a nice crop top on a daily basis. So many missed opportunities and heartbreaks *sighs dramatically*.

5. There is not many 'average sized' influencers/models

This is the most annoying part of living in the "Instagram generation". I love looking at all the influencer's outfits and how cute they look. But the problem is, a lot of the time these beautiful girls have a completely different build to me. So I feel like I wouldn't want to buy the same clothes as I have no idea how it will really look on me.

Pinterest is probably the worst for this. I want to use Pinterest to build ideas for my wardrobe, but it can be hard imagining what these clothes would like on someone a lil' curvier.

It would just be nice to see a bit more variety that's all I'm saying - shoutout to @emmasrectangle for being the queen.

6. "Yeah that is so cute, just not on me"

Forever seeing cute clothes but thinking "it just won't look as nice on me". It's a daily struggle and so many cute clothes are denied attention because you think something like that won't suit you.

7. Hello black jeans and baggy top

So instead you opt for the same usual attire. Yes, this is very comfy and can look pretty cute but secretly you want to be edgy as f*ck too and this just doesn't cut it.

8. No one is one size

But the biggest and most important thing to remember is no one is exactly the same. We all have curves in different places and we need to rock it.

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD MOVE TO ANOTHER TOWN/CITY

Hey guys! I'm going to try and get back into the flow of writing - pretty sure I say that every time - but this time I'm serious (I think). Today, I wanted to chat about my experience moving to a different city and why I think its a good idea. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of negatives, but instead of moaning, I thought I'd try and be positive, lol.

1. You grow up

Let's just start with the biggest one.

When you move anywhere else but home, you are obviously going to mature in the process. You are taking yourself away from your support system and moving to unknown territory. You're obviously going to mature and grow up.

I have matured so much since the day my mum dropped me off in Leeds over 3 years ago, which leads me to the next point...

2. You become independent

You've gotta handle your own shit.

Like I said, you're leaving your little bubble behind and you have no choice but to learn to do things yourself. You learn to look after yourself, how to pay bills, how to travel, everything. I am literally the queen of public transport after moving out without a car, which is actually really handy.

3. You gain new experiences

You are somewhere totally new. It is obviously going to be completely different to what you are used to.

I found this especially right, moving from a tiny town to a big city. Everything was different, but I loved it. I loved the buzz and the ability to pretty much do whatever you want. There are perks to every different place, but you might not experience them until you are there for yourself.

4. New friends

Obviously, you are always going to have your home-town friends. It might even teach you a lesson or two about who your real friends are. But you will also meet amazing people on your new journey.

Likely hood is, if you move out as a student, you will have to share your accommodation with other people. Obviously, there are going to be people you don't get on with (which adds to the growing up part) but there will be people you can't envision not being part of your life anymore.

5. New opportunities

I guess this was the biggest reason I moved away. I wanted to go to university and there isn't a local Mansfield Uni - or not anything near what I wanted. Its the same for when you are looking for work. Moving will open you up to new opportunities and its great.

Obviously, moving away won't be for everyone and there is plenty of reasons why staying in your hometown is amazing. I'm just trying to express how moving away has potentially shaped me into a better version of myself and has given me a better life.

Don't be scared to make the move.

WHAT IS IT REALLY LIKE WHEN YOU FINISH UNI?

Hey guys! Long time, no see. I think that happens when you enter adult life - you lose track of the things you love doing. Which is what actually inspired me to write this post.

It's that time of year where everyone is going back or starting university and this is the first time in 3 years where I've not been one of them. I graduated this summer, after what felt like the quickest, yet best, 3 years of my life.

Everyone always talks about what uni is like and the ups and downs, but no one really seems to acknowledge what it's like leaving. Its a weird time for all people graduating and there are only really a few options we can choose from to do next:

A - Find a job
B - Carry on studying
C - Take a gap year

Most people try and go with option A. But really option A isn't as easy as people think. It's a weird time, some people manage to grab a job straight away, some are applying for jobs months after they have graduated with no success.

Everyone enters a weird limbo stage where we have finally been cast out into the adult world and we don't really know how to deal with it. I lot of people find they love this "adult world", others hate it. There is this strange feeling inside most of us wishing we were those students again, just starting uni for the first time.

If you are lucky enough to choose option A and actually land a job, it's like adult life hits you all at once. You go from doing 2 days at uni barely making your 9am's to a full-time 9-5 schedule. You spend the first month just basically recovering from the shock. Your social life can take a back seat when you only have 2 days a week for yourself. It's hard to get used to the whole thing and find a balance.

To add to the craziness, if you made the decision not to move back home, there are all these other responsibilities that hit you. Goodbye student loan that helped me pay my rent and hello council tax.. who knew council tax was so bloody expensive?

So here we are, watching all the students return to uni with a slight envy wishing we were still in their position. I heard a lot of people on Twitter calling it 'post-uni depression' but idk how deep you want to get into it.

But the reality is, we should be proud of what we have accomplished. We have finished our time studying and we fucking smashed it. It's easy to forget all the hard work that you've done, especially when you are so confused about your current situation and what to do. It may even feel like a waste to some people who are struggling to find their path.

But you should be fucking proud of yourself, whatever you've ended up doing. The fact is, most of us are all in the same shoes, trying to figure out our next move and what we want to do with our lives.

Just remember to take a step back and be like - hell yeah, so now what?

REASONS WHY I'M NOT A 'TYPICAL' BLOGGER

Hey guys! So it's been a while since I've done a written post. Which is actually how I came up with the idea for this post. I want to talk about why I am not a 'typical' blogger. It's not necessarily a bad or a good thing. I mean no offence to you amazing bloggers out there who fit this 'typical' category. But I don't belong to a 'category' really. This is a light-hearted post and I'm sure a lot of bloggers can relate to this.

1. I don't schedule

So you probably already know this one if you are a regular reader and it's certainly not hard to figure out. I used to keep to a blogging schedule once upon a time. I used to try and post 2 times a week and write posts in advance to make sure they were put out on time.

A lot of successful bloggers go on about how consistency is key. But personally, I don't think I should be pumping out content unless I am truly passionate about my work. I went through a rut of pumping out posts for the sake of it. But I stopped and thought "if I was a reader, would I open this and read it?" If the answer is no, then why am I bothering?

I mean I might have taken it too far to the other end of the scale and have not posted enough, but I want to find the right balance again. I won't write content for the sake of it and from now on I only want to post stuff I am somewhat proud of. I think that's reasonable, right?

2. I write posts at the weirdest time

This one expands on my f*cked up schedule. But, I really do write posts at the weirdest times. To keep the passion I only really write stuff when inspiration hits. Unluckily for me, this tends to be at like 3am when I have to be awake for 7am the next day. But I don't really care, this is my hobby and I write things because I enjoy doing it... so why not do it at 3am in the morning?

3. I can't decide what I want to write about

So, you would think with a blog name like 'Rebecca Ashley Beauty' I would have this one figured out. But no, for some reason I am really random with what I write about. In fact, most of my posts lately have rarely been about beauty.

But I don't care about staying 'on brand' and I will write things that I enjoy writing. This goes for my latest YouTube videos as well. I have fun making them and I don't mind that they aren't very 'beauty' related.

It's funny because when people ask what I blog about it can be really hard for me to answer that question. I tend to just start listing off loads of things whilst the persons face is like (??!?). But it's cool.

4. I am not perfect

I think this is one of the biggest things that differentiate me from a lot of bloggers in this category. I don't strive to be that 'perfect life' kind of blogger, because it isn't me. I am spontaneous, all over the place and most of all, I am human. Humans are not perfect.

I'd like people to read my posts and think to themselves, 'wow, I don't need to be perfect' rather than thinking 'wow, I wish I was like her'. "It's just me being real babe" (pls say you read that in a Georgia from love island voice).

5. I try to be some-what relatable

This kind of goes along with the whole imperfect vibe. I want to chat with you guys like you're my mates and we are chilling, having a pint and eating pizza together. I write like I talk for that reason. I don't mind using swear words, I am not going to dim-down my content because I am worried about posts not making money. I am just myself and people either enjoy that or they don't.

6. I am sh*t at getting nice blog photos

I always see bloggers tweeting about how perfectionist they are about taking photos or how much time they take getting photos for their blog. I'm not really like that.

I get visuals are important, but I am not going to spend all my time concentrating on perfection. I'm not afraid to use stock photos if I need to. Besides, it's pretty hard to take blog photos and I respect bloggers that are good at it. Living on my own, it can be hard to get people to take photos of me, so sometimes I don't. (But thanks to my boyf Ryan for being somewhat of an 'Instagram boyfriend'.)

7. I don't care about statistics

I think one of the biggest things I see in the blogging community is how they are always looking at statistics like "I am nearly at XXX amount of followers", "XXX amount of people read my post", "only XXX people retweeted my post" etc.

I totally understand how looking at these things is important but I think it can easily turn something from a hobby into a chore. So I just tend to not really bother. If I enjoy it, that is all that matters to me and if other people enjoy it too that is a bonus.

8. I don't care about making money

I know that most bloggers don't care about this, but I think it is worth saying. Money is not the motivation behind my posts and neither is free stuff. Yeah, it's lovely to earn money for a hobby but it is not the main concentration.

This is why I don't bother with ads on my blog post. I find them distracting when you are trying to read someone's post and they aren't really worthwhile. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to do sponsored posts and have done in the past. The difference is, I will only do them if I think they are beneficial to my readers and I enjoy the content I am writing about.

9. I don't really network much

This kinda goes along with the last point, but I don't go out of my way to network. I'm not interested in having loads of brands on my blog. If I like something I will write about it.

However, I think it is defo worth reaching out to brands as a blogger if you are really interested in working with them. Don't wait for them to make the first move because you could be waiting a long time.

10. I look like sh*t half the time

OK, so I know I talk about beauty and fashion, but I don't look like some sort of Instagram model IRL. I'd be lucky to wear makeup every day, never mind wearing makeup that looks ON POINT. I just enjoy doing it on special occasions rather than being some master-class MUA every day. Plus, I love wearing clothes that basically resemble PJs when possible. Baggy t-shirts and trainers are my general vibe.

GRADUATE FASHION WEEK // LONDON 2018

Hey guys! Long time, no see (or read, I guess). I've been rather busy of late, meaning I've had little time to get back into blogging. Just so you get a little life update, I've now graduated from uni and I've just started a full-time job whilst fully moving back to Leeds (yeah, you've missed quite a bit). However, I will do my best to pick up the pace with my blog posts again.

APE PRESENTS // LONDON 2018

Hey guys! So I am a little late uploading this but I've finally had time to edit and upload. Today's video is my vlog from APE Presents festival where Catfish and the Bottlemen headlined.

We got a lil drunk and had a lot of fun. I would totally recommend this festival to anyone looking for a good day out and I will defo be checking out who will be attending it next year. This was an awesome weekend and I thank my best friends for making the memory so good.

The filming may be a little questionable and a little wobbly (as I get considerably drunker) but I also had a lot of fun filming and editing this video. (My highlights being whenever Chloe makes an appearance with her amazing dancing).

I have a few more videos to edit and upload in the coming weeks. I've been a bit slow uploading them because I have been so busy enjoying myself and making memories. My next video will be of Graduate Fashion Week, so keep your eye out for that.

A Trip to Liverpool & Outfit of the Day

Hey guys! So a few weeks ago I went on a little trip to Liverpool with my amazing boyfriend, Ryan, and I thought I would share some pics & an outfit of the day.

This trip was a Christmas present and we got to stay in the wonderful Staybridge Apartments. I would highly recommend this as a lovely place to stay in Liverpool as the rooms are gorgeous and the location is perfect!

I posted my outfit of the day on my Instagram and I thought I would share with you where it is all from. My Teddy coat (which I teased made me look like a sheep-bear) is from Urban Outfitters. My Jumper and Dress are both from Nasty Gal, which I featured in my latest haul video over on YouTube (feel free to give it a watch!) Then I just paired it with some basic black tights (it was freezing) and my vans. I think Doc Martin's would have looked better, however, I knew I would be walking around all day and my feet just can't take that pain. And finally, my backpack is from Asos - I literally take this everywhere with me and just throw all my stuff inside lol.

I actually really enjoyed wearing this outfit as it was comfy but looked a bit more like I made effort opposed to my usual 'chuck on a baggy tee' vibe.

What Does Feminism Mean To Me?

Hey guys! So, feminism is a widely talked about subject and I feel like I would like to address it. For anyone wondering, I class myself as a feminist. In order for me to explain why I think it is important to know exactly what 'Feminism' means. So I've gathered a few definitions of 'feminism'.

"The advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes" - Oxford Dictionary

"The theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes" - Merriam Webster

"The belief that women should be allowed the same rights, power, and opportunities as men and be treated in the same way" - Cambridge Dictionary

So that should be enough for anyone to get the general gist of feminism. However, sometimes the meaning of the word gets confused and escalated to something it's not, so much so, some people feel uncomfortable calling themselves 'feminists' because they are unclear of the true meaning. There is a lot of negative stereotypes associated with being a 'feminist' and a common misunderstanding is that it means women think they are better than men. But feminism has never been about being better or superior. Feminism is about being considered as equal.

Women have always struggled to be valued the same as men through history and 'feminism' is trying to change that. It means women and men should have equal opportunities, power and social equality. I really do not think this should be a lot to ask for! But surprisingly there is still inequality between sexes in today's society. Women are still being paid less than men or being valued less socially. Of course, there has been a lot of progress thanks to all the wonderful people, especially women, who have fought for our equality. But we still need to continue this mission to gain true equality worldwide.

So, I am proud to call myself a Feminist. I believe that men and women should be equal. I would hate to be told I could not do something just because of my gender. Women can do whatever they want with their lives, whether that's being a stay at home mum or being a mechanic. Men should be free to do what they want, whether that's being a builder or being a makeup artist. We are our own people and we have our own thoughts and dreams. Our gender should never get in the way of these dreams.

Nothing annoys me more than when someone expects something of me just because I am female. Yes, I am female but it does not mean that my main ambition in life is to have a family, cook for my husband or any of the other 'women's place' stereotypes. I love that some women love this and they should be able to make this decision for themselves. But for me, I want to be able to follow my ambitions and dreams that aren't necessarily in line with the traditional 'women's place' stereotypes, without so much criticism. I will make my life decisions based on my happiness and not what society perceives my happiness should be. Therefore, feminism is important to me. I want to be able to work hard and get paid the same as a man doing the same job. I don't want to be considered worth less than a man. I want society to consider women equal to men. I want to be able to have power and express my voice. I want equality.

So I hope this post helped some of you understand better what feminism is and why it is important to me, as an ambitious woman in today's society. Let me know your thoughts on the topic!

Hey guys! It's time for another cosmetic company to be examined so we can see which brands they own test on animals and which are cruelty free. This is the third post in this series. To see my recent Estée Lauder post and L'Oréal post, follow the links. But today, we are going to look at this global company to see how ethical they are in terms of animal cruelty. For those of you who are unsure, Coty are a beauty company that own a lot of big and popular brands in the cosmetic market. Sadly, the results of this search is the worst yet.
