It's time to talk about Spring Mini sessions! :) Limited spots are available, but it’s going to be so goooood!!!! I am excited to avoid playing chicken with Mother Nature for once and shoot in a beautiful greenhouse bursting with life!

Where are we headed? Well, a dear friend of mine helped me out with access to a beautiful greenhouse in Shermansdale that we can have all to ourselves. There are so many gorgeous greenhouses in the area, but I chose this one to avoid the distraction of shoppers while we're trying to take pics. Also, I need to be able to make potty jokes as loud as I want at all times, sooooooo... anything for the laugh, right? :)

Why April 29? Well, it's after Easter so you very well may have a cute little outfit already picked out and ready to roll. And, speaking from personal experience here, chances are decent your kids will revolt against your family Easter pic so you'll need another one anyway. AND I figure the timing is perfect for printing Mother’s Day gifts. Not that I'm already thinking about what I want for Mother's Day or anything...

What's included? We'll meet at the greenhouse for 20 minutes of jam-packed giggling, snuggling, twirling and flower smelling. Afterward I'll email you a link to a gallery full of your fabulous images and you can pick your 5 favorites. Easy peasy!

Charlotte 3 Months | Carlisle PA Children Photography

I've been itching to shoot more in-home photo sessions lately, so this was an absolute dream come true. We spent the morning playing, feeding, snuggling, snoozing and documenting the normal every-day moments of sweet Charlotte at this stage in her life. Sure, it didn't hurt anything that Cristin and Matt have a lovely home, super cute 4 year old and adorable little dog, but the true beauty in these photos is the simplicity I think. My hope is that a decade from now Cristin will be able to look back at these photos and remember this magical time when her baby girl still nursed to sleep in her arms and giggled every time she her mom kissed her feet.

Motherhood is one of my favorite things to photograph. I think it's because I'm a mom myself and I know how often in a day something small happens and I think "I never want to forget this." Being able to capture some of those moments for other moms makes my heart so happy. It certainly doesn't hurt when I have a duo as adorable as these two to feast my eyes (and camera!) on... I couldn't have asked for models any more lovely than Bri and Charlie for this casual, in-home mommy + me session.

A Freshly Picked Valentine's Day | Our Favorite Baby Gifts

When I was pregnant with my third baby I did a great job not buying baby stuff. We already had a boy and girl. so there was very little that we needed. Also, we didn't know the gender of our baby which made it easy to pass up those beyond cute, but oh so gender-specific items. Since Wren's arrival (A GIRL!), I've been trying my best to save money and resources by using her siblings' clothes, toys and gear as much as possible. That being said, I wanted her to have some things of her very own, so I made a deal with myself. Rather than just sticking to the cheaper items, because I didn't need many things, I would finally allow myself to splurge on the slightly more expensive things I always wanted. Enter these fun baby goodies that are worth every single penny and then some.

Freshly Picked. The baby moccasin to beat all baby moccasins. I admit, one time I fell prey to the ad in my instagram feed boasting $19 moccs. It was a deal that couldn't be beat.... until I got them. They were so cheap, stiff and hard to get on that I immediately returned them even though it wasn't even free return shipping! That goes to show how much I hated them! :) I know that some people think it's crazy to spend much money on baby shoes, but I don't. I've decided that I'd rather spend the extra money on good quality shoes that won't make me curse every time I try to put them on those wildly flailing baby feet. Wren basically has two pairs of shoes so she wears them all the time and these moccs stretch and grow with her (because they're genuine leather) so she'll have them for months and months. Being somewhat style challenged, I made sure to pick a pair that would go with everything so I didn't have to think about matching shoes + outfit. I couldn't be happier with these adorable gold polka-dot moccs and cannot wait to get her tiny little feet them!!

We have two different Modern Burlap blankets and couldn't love them more. They're big and soft and light weight in a very magical kind of way. I used them for swaddling when Wren was a little baby and now we use them to play on. Each month I take her picture on the calendar blanket and plan to hang it in her nursery... you know... when it's finished! :)

We also have two different toys from Bannor Toys - super cute and really well made wooden toys. This puppy phone was a free gift with purchase when I bought Wren's awesome toy camera. At 7 months, she really loves this phone because it's small and light enough for her to grab onto and chew!

Carter 1 Year | Carlisle PA Child Photographer

We met on the most unlikely of days for outdoor portraits. It was January and had been raining all morning, but we were determined. Luckily, the most important thing of all when doing a child's portraits was on our side: Carter was in a great mood! If you've got a happy baby, the rest is really easy no matter the circumstances. I love that everyone embraced the conditions we were working with instead of fighting them - rain boots are super cute, so why not go for it on a drizzly day!? This was such a fun session and I hope the photos make Carter and his family as happy as they make me!

Confetti Inspired Ice Cream Birthday Party | Carlisle PA Event Photographer

I'm so excited that my daughter's 4th birthday party was featured on Kara's Party Ideas! :) I worked really hard on her party, and even though I was 38 weeks pregnant at the time, I managed to pull off one of my best parties yet. For me, party planning is the most fun thing! I love searching online for diy projects and finding ways to adapt and make them work for me. I always try to include at least one or two ways the birthday girl can contribute too - in this case she colored all her invitations! You can see Kara's feature here, but I'm sharing some of my favorite details as well. :)

A million thanks to my awesome friend at Studio Pep for the confetti, tassel garland and balloons and Blessed Blondies for the sparkly cake topper! The other items (like lollipops, tattoos, spoons, ice cream poppers) were picked up random places along the way.

DIY Flower Photoshoot Backdrop | Spring Mini Sessions

Although it's not typically something I offer, this year I decided to do Spring/Mother's Day mini sessions for my friends and family. When choosing a location I knew I wanted to do it indoors because PA springs are beautiful, but they're also temperamental, unpredictable, rainy and cold. Instead of risking it outside, I opted to bring the best part of spring indoors to my in-home studio (aka living room!). The backdrop turned out just as I imagined and was pretty simple to create. If you have a free hour, you should totally give it a try too!!

First, I purchased some inexpensive fake flowers at the local craft store and removed the blooms from the stems. Next, I used a nail to poke holes into some cream colored seamless photo backdrop paper. These holes were placed randomly around on the paper as I didn't want to worry about spacing or straight lines!

Next, I used a hot glue gun to secure the flowers into the holes. With just a dab of glue on the base of the flower, I was able to push the little nub on the flower through the hole and easily hold the flowers in place.

Repeat that process until you use up all your flowers and you're all set!

Last, recruit some cute little models and have a blast!

I met Erin a few years ago when she was a mom to one adorable little guy. Now she's grown from a dream client with 1 little into a dream client + dear friend with 3 littles. She has been one of my strongest supporters and encouragers in the photography world AND the mom world and I don't know what I'd do without her. I feel so so so so sooooo lucky to have met her and somehow convinced her to be my friend. This session took place in her sweet little home with her sweet little last baby. We wanted to document the tender moments between the two of them before she officially transitions into the next (and equally as awesome, right?!) part of motherhood with big kids instead of babies. Love you Erin. Thank you for this experience and million other things too!

Baby A | Newborn Hospital Photographer | Fresh Baby Session

I know I've said it before, but hospitals seriously are one of my very favorite places to take photos. I'm usually all about natural light, the golden hour of the setting sun, open shade and other nature-y things, but I make an exception for hospitals. It doesn't seem logical, but it's true!

My best guess is that the pure joy bursting out of the new family trumps the paper towel dispenser in the back ground. The totally smitten look between a mom and her new baby overshadows the plastic bracelets everyone is wearing. And the baby toes... well... who can even notice the multicolored outlets and plugs when there are tiny newborn toes around!?

Every year when my kids have a birthday, I sit back and look at the photos I have from our hospital stay. Sure, the posed ones we got later are cute, but these ones... well they speak to me in a personal way. The photos bring back all the amazing memories from the perfect day we welcomed new life to our family. I hope that these photos do the same for this beautiful family.

Congratulations on your perfect addition, Overs. I sincerely hope you reconsider my request for you to have 100 babies because you're really really good at it. :)

This girl came into my life when we were both pregnant with our second babies, our boys. Now she's expecting her third baby and I'm just sooooo excited for her. We've been through so much together over the past 2 years that I can't even begin to imagine what life was like PE (Pre Emily). I'd be lost without her, that's for sure!!

Valentine's Day Mini Sessions

For the first time ever this year I hosted Valentine's Day mini sessions for a few close friends. I've never done them before so I wanted some test models and I knew just the right people for the job :) They all had cute kiddos and I knew they'd be understanding if my props fell off the wall or the dog ran by in the middle of the shoot!

I teamed up with Studio Pep for the awesome balloons and party supplies. Her eye for decor is amazing and always has me swooning as I scroll through her instragram feed (@shopstudiopep). I feel so lucky she helped me with these photos!!!

This little cutie is back again!!! This time it's for her 9 months portraits and I think she totally nailed it. :) One thing I always walk away with from sessions kids' portrait sessions is their easy happiness. I mean, we pretty much just ate puffs and played her room on an overcast, dreary day, but this little girl was SO happy. She smiled and played and never seemed to mind the gloom. I wish the rest of us were better about ignoring the gloom and finding the joy in simple puffed treats... or whatever else it is that makes us smile. :)

I ordered this adorable bear shirt for my little boy recently and couldn't be more in love. The quality is great (like way better than I ever expected for kids' clothes) and the print is just perfect. Sometimes it's hard to find little boy clothes when you don't quite fit in the cars and firetrucks mold. Not that there's anything wrong with them - it's just not what showcases this little one's personality. He's definitely wild like a bear! Anyway, I just had to share a few shots of him modeling for me. As you can see, it's not always easy being the child of a photographer! Freshly Picked Moccasins Giveaway | Carlisle PA Child Photographer

I'm so excited to be hosting a giveaway for a pair of soft-soled moccasins from Freshly Picked. I've been drooling over them for years and can't believe I get to give a pair away to one of my loyal clients!! Here you can see my (insanely adorable!) nice modeling a pair in "weathered brown". What I love about this classic color is that it will go with EVERYTHING and works just as well for a sweet little girl as it does for a sweet little boy. Versatility is exactly what this indecisive mama needs in her life :)

The second I got them, I couldn't stop touching the super soft leather. It's soooooo soft, friends! The quality is top notch, which is important because you do have to shell out some hard earned bucks for these babies. I will say though, when I became a mom I wasted a lot of money on cute little shoes that didn't hold up. What happened as a result? I got rid of them and my daughter ended up with one trusty pair of shoes that she wore everywhere, with everything... and I didn't mind one bit paying extra.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, these are made perfectly for putting on squirmy little humans' feet. The elastic stretches generously to allow for seriously easy dressing. There's no use having a cute pair of shoes if you can't get them on, right?!

I've photographed many newborns in my time, but rarely do I get to photograph one that is as awake and alert as this little guy was for his whole session. He wasn't ALWAYS happy (he's only 10 days after all!), but boy was he a joy to photograph. And his parents too! I'm honestly not sure how they managed to be so clean and bright eyed considering the fact that they are most certainly sleep deprived. (Proof of said sleep deprivation: Liz was excited about getting to sleep for 3 hours. Yup, 3 whole hours! haha) Despite the sleepless nights, I know and they know that this time is pretty magical and their little boy is out of this world cute!

Newborn sessions don't really come much easier than this one. Super sweet parents? Check. Irresistibly cute family pet? Check. Great light? Check. Beyond adorable baby? HUGE check. In-home newborn sessions are definitely among my favorites. I love documenting those early days in a realistic way (or at least somewhat realistic... I'd have been in yoga pants in all my kids' newborn photos if it were really real haha!). I first met Maddie a few years ago and am having a really hard time believing she's a senior this year. How did that happen? And so quickly?! The first date we had picked out for senior pictures got horribly rained out and then our location got homecoming-ed out (ie: a local school was using our spot for homecoming pics!), but I think it was divine intervention because... well... just look at the photos! I met with this family for a quick summer session right in my back yard (well almost!). The light behind my house tempts me all summer and my own kids get awfully sick of me insisting on taking their picture in the golden light when all they want to do is chase the dog. Fortunately, this family agreed to meet at my unconventional location (a church soccer field!) and I was smart enough to keep the dog in the house :)
