Seriously, when it comes to the lame stream media, is there any other kind? This article is a mis-titled, loosely fact based (very loosely) hit piece. Not only that, what they did was probably illegal as hell.

● "police-grade pistol" = normal pistols that people carry everyday

● "semi automatic assault rifle" = normal rifle (it can't be both semiautomatic and assault)

Yeah, that's the feeling i got while watching this video, and recognized the range. Brought back some fond memories of downtime. Downtime well spent, when not having to deal with the mountainous obstacles involved with the Katrina cleanup.

When visiting The Big Easy there aren't very many options to avail yourself of some trigger time, sans a shootout with the local gangs ... which seem to be fairly well armed.

Other than going to The Blue Tomato for the most awesome grub and hanging out at the Library on Napoleon to use the interwebz, we would go to The Shooters Club on David Drive.

That's what it used to be, anyways ... After moving to a new range in Harahan, I'm assuming they kept the old range and just opened it under a different name, Jefferson Gun. They were still remodeling the new range when we came back to Yankee land, so i've not had the chance for a visit.

PA non-resident LTC info

While participating in a discussion on OFCC's FB page, i was reminded of something forgotten.

Three months ago, emails had been sent to both Beaver and Lawrence Cty. Sheriffs in Pennsylvania, for clarification of the "references" portion of the application. Since those are the bordering counties closest to me, i'm going to need this info in the future right? Besides, people ask me how to get a PA *LTC (License To Carry) all the time.

Neither Sheriff bothered to reply ...

Also, neither of the Sheriffs websites had posted that the references from the respective counties HAVE to be a resident of the county you are applying in. Well, after checking both websites the other night, it seems that both have updated to answer my question. I contacted Gary Slider to inform him of this, and he has taken some screenshots of various PA Sheriff's websites to update the Pennsylvania portion of Handgunlaw.us. The update should be in effect tomorrow.

Finding residents in a neighboring states county could be a real pain-in-the-ass ...

Nor did I remove the little wing from the right side safety lever. May just get a G model lever to replace it someday, just to see if it lightens the trigger pull any ...

Back in '05 when I purchased one of these for Pickle, the only one available was the decocker/safety F model. My previous experience with this ridiculous combo-feature-from-hell, courtesy of a Ruger P95 used for IDPA, told me that we'd eventually trade it off for a more 'user friendly' model. Well, after a few brain farts this year (forgetting the manual of arms) at various IDPA matches and at the LuckyGunner Blogger Shoot ... the time has come.

The Ruger had been upgraded to a decock only model simply by buying one, although I could have just bought another slide assembly for it. With the PX4 you don't have to go to any expense at all to change it to a decock only G model. With a few simple tools, a little patience and some damn bi-focals that actually work this can be accomplished in about 20 minutes. Instead of performing this mod you could wait till Brownells get some safety levers back in stock, but it's not a very big deal. Of course it could be a very long wait if their supplier happens to be Brignoli Arms, since they don't seem to carry them anymore.

The only real difference between the two models is in the safety levers themselves, as can be seen the schematic below. The F model has a ball detent in the left side safety lever shaft (the one used by right handed shooters) that prevents the levers from snapping back up. The G model is the same left side shaft with the ball detent left out. The right side lever (for lefties) has a little wing on the bottom that engages the trigger disconnect on the F model. The G model has no wing.

Since it really doesn't matter, I didn't remove the wing from the right side lever. It's really just a matter of popping out the detent ball to change it over ...

*Caution*
When tapping out the roll pin on the right side lever, it can be very, very stubborn. Really had to wack that bugger good to get it moving. And when you put the pin back in, you have to be careful how far you drive it in. I went a bit too far, and because it was binding had to back it out a little.
