Very low volume
First stating the obvious, You need to have a Sony S-AIR transmitter for these Speaker. Otherwise these Speaker are of not much use.

Pros:
Once you have a S-Air enabled device, the pairing is very easy and works out of the box without additional configuration. Just turn on the Speaker and it picks up the signal.

Cons:
- The volume on the Speaker is very low. If you want to place these in a decent sized room, the sound, even at the highest volume is not good enough.
If you are thinking about a living room, forget it.

- My home theater is downstairs in the living room and I placed this in my bedroom upstairs and there is a disturbance every so often. Especially if you go near the Speaker.

All in all, I am disappointed in these Speaker. I feel they are a rip-off at 30$ but the average online price shows 60-90$ elsewhere which is even more ridiculous.

Perfect for my situation
About a week in and this speaker is exactly what I was looking for. And here is what I was looking for:

Both my wife and I have LG enV2 phones, which have an MP3 player, small onboard speaker, a 2.5mm jack (smaller, non-standard size), and support bluetooth stereo. We love to flip it open and have on-the-fly, decent sounding music through the onboard speaker (tinny sound, but loud). We also share a pair of Motorola Rokr S9 bluetooth headphones that we wear on the go, to work out, run, etc. and we love that as well.

So the last thing we needed to run our entire world of music from our phones was a bluetooth speaker to station in our living room for better open-air sound than the phone's onboard speaker.

Well, this is it! Pairing the speaker to the phones was perfectly straightforward, as is connecting for each use. You can either turn the speaker on each use and it just finds the phone and is ready to go, or you can leave the speaker on all the time and connect/drop with the phones. We do the latter for two reasons: 1) When you turn on the speaker and both our phones are around, it's random which phone it connects to (an issue with our diverging musical tastes!) and 2) We have it tucked away on a hard-to-get-to shelf.

Aesthetically speaking, it's very sleak-looking, not too big (or small I guess -- looks high-end, very Bose-like). The sound is strong considering it's bluetooth. Bass hangs in there, though it didn't blow me away. It certainly destroys the tinny sound of the enV2's onboardspeaker . The sound fills the room rather than the "blaring from the counter" effect, just the difference we were hoping for.

I found it just a little pricey, but because it was the missing link for us to do all our music off of our phones I never thought twice. So all that said, for our situation, it's a clear 5 stars.

As for other reviews I'm reading, I don't doubt them. We have no other bluetooth devices around to get crossed with this, but I've heard plenty of stories about ANY two bluetooth devices in close proximity not playing nice.

Also, I wouldn't bother with this product if I was going to use it for any stationary music source, like a reciever or computer, unless I was really desperate to get it across the room without a cord. The bit I read about walls impeding the connection is true -- same for us but not an issue, we just leave the phone sitting in the same room. But in the future we might double it's use: it does come with a corded input and might make a nice center channel if we took this room in that direction. Or it might be a decent upgrade in sound over our TV's onboard speaker and I may try that. The corded input was smart, you never know what you might do with it. As another reviewer with bluetooth contention issues noted, it could salvage it if you give up on the bluetooth.

If I had to pick on it, I would say it might be nice to be able to run it off batteries. While for now we keep it stationary, the cordless nature of it would make it perfect to pick up off the shelf and take anywhere, but, you'll always need an outlet. It would also be nice if the left/right speaker were separate and I could split them into separate corners of the room. But of course then you'd need the phone to talk to both speaker , or to one speaker and then that speaker to stream to the other, which would then present timing issues. Bluetooth just isn't there yet.

So, I'd recommend highly if your situation is similar. But think it through if you have more constraints, you may want to let bluetooth mature some more.

Interference with other bluetooth devices...
I bought this liking the idea that this speaker was wireless. Though, I was concerned that if I had another bluetooth device running that the signal would get lost or begin to interfere. I asked several places.( B&H, Apple store, Best Buy, online threads) They all said that there should be no interference and bluetooth should work smoothly with two or more devices running. This turned out to be false. I use a bluetooth wacom tablet and every time I try to use it with the speaker, the sound or the mouse begins to glitch. I tried many variations, including just using the bare apps necessary, thinking the computer's running too many programs. Nope. You cant use two streaming bluetooth signals at once and have it be seamless. Also, this device is very sensitive to walls , if you have any walls inbetween your computer and this speaker, chances are it won't play. On the upside, the sound is quality and has good bass for it's size. But if you leave it on without running music, it will hiss very loudly. The biggest frustration is the bluetooth interference b/c that was my main concern before buying it.

Wonderful Sound!
This Bluetooth device works very fine! It's easy to pair with the computer and rarely gets out of sync, but from time to time, it happens. The sound is so rich, and the bass is very loud. The device dos not have many controls in itself, so you have to configure or equalize the sound in the computer, wich is no problem at all. Very nice product. Sony Rocks!

AMAZING!!!!!!
This has to be one of our best gifts to us from Santa ever! It comes with 2 speaker - we bought an extra one and liked it so much, we just ordered an other one. You can change the song from any speaker , each speaker has volume control and on/off switch. When not in use, it displays the time. It looks sharp and the sound is unbelievable. The best part is you can move a speaker outside or basement or garage anywhere....

Compatible with HDMI !!
One of the most recent reviews on this said this product would not work with your receiver hooked up with a hdmi cable, so I was reluctant to purchase. But figured there are alot of people who have no idea what they are talking about, so I ordered anyway. I AM GLAD I DID! Here is the scoop on this awesome little black box. First off it works no problem with the receiver hooked up thru HDMI cable only. I have the sony bdve300 blu-ray/surround package which has the option to buy the EZW-T100 s-air adapter (which I did purchase separately)that allows my bdve300 system to send the wireless signal to this little black box. I plugged this little black box in , turned the power button on , it immediately paired and the radio station I was listening to on my main unit played like magic! I then took the unit to the farthest place I would listen to it (outside my house) and it played perfect. At this time I tried to use the buttons on the box which flipped thru my preset radio stations without ever programming them they were all just there! You can fast forward, stop, play dvd/cd right from this unit also. Next ran the normal tests. 1)Volume : not bad, nice clean sound, no bass, plenty of volume for me (surprised). 2) Construction : feels solid not cheap 3) Functions : played cable tv, radio, dvd/cd audio perfect(what else matters). When watching 5.1 dvd it seems to play the front speaker sound not the rear surround sound just in case anyone is curious. I love this little black box so much that I just purchased another and am considering buying a third. This is a tremendous value and do not see how anyone would give this a bad review unless they received a defective unit. Sorry for the long reveiw but felt this item took some unfair remarks and I wanted to set the record straight. Buy this item, you can't go wrong!

Nice but tough to set up!
So now that I finally have mine up and playing I will say its a neat little unit. I won't rave about the sound quality as it does not meet my standards but yet it's good enough for the use that my wife and I bought it for. I will say it has decent sound quality for the price. I have not had the issues others have with it interfering with WIFI/phones but remember it has various cahnnels you can use to keep it from interfering.I am disappointed that you are not able to listen to any componet that is digital through this unit as I bought it so when I play a concert DVD I can have the added sound in additional rooms. This is not possible unless you conect to the receiver through componet cables which defeats the purpose of having a nice set up.

Pros:
It's a nice little compact unit with decent sound that has a pretty good range. There is not a room I can't receive a good signal from (unlike others have stated).

Cons:
If you don't have a receiver that is set up for this unit, be sure to understand that you are going to pay extra money for the EZW T100 transmitter. This extra cost came as a surprise.
When setting it up, calling Sony does not seem to work, I highly recomend their "chat" room for technical assistance. 2 hours on the phone got me no where and 15 minutes in the chat room had me up and running.
They need to put how to "hard reset" in the manuals, this would have saved me a ton of grief.
The fact that you can't listen to ANYTHING that is connected through a optical, digital or HDMI cable is a MAJOR DOWNFALL.

Summary:
I like this unit but set up is an issue in many cases. Sony is nickel and diming folks for this unit and it sure isn't worth it. I wish I had put the money into a protable unit that I could take anywhere. This unit will not work if it isn't linked to the main unit. Since it won't play the digital portion off my receiver, a protable unit makes more since. I can only listen to the tuner and my old CD player through this unit. I do love gadets and this is just that a gadet. There for I am fairly happy with it as it is a neat concept. There definately needs to be some refinements from Sony for the "next" generation.

Sensuous Surround
I'm a little chagrined I waited so long to immerse myself in the world of 5.1 surround sound.

Most websites on the subject will tell you to get all of your Speakers from the same brand, so the harmonics are all cousins of each other. Well, with Bose bookshelf Speaker, the accompanying surround Speakers would have been another grand, so I decided to bottom end with Sony.

These little puppies are weird in that you can't take the mesh covers off to spock the look of the Speaker diaphragms, but that's the only weird thing. They ship with the tiniest capellini-sized Speaker wire you can imagine, which helps you enjoy your new sound straight out of the box until you can get some more decent sized wire.

For a starter kit, these are thoroughly sufficient, plus, they're sleek and unobtrusive. If you haven't experienced surround sound anywhere but the theaters, get these babies and rent Apocalypse Now, or any of the Bourne movies. (Or better yet, watch the dust storm episode from the first season of Carnivale--you'll quite literally be blown away.)

Also, you'll need a digital optical cable from your DVD player to your receiver; otherwise the Dolby surround won't work.

What wow sounds like
I have this set paired with the SS-B3000 bookshelf Speakers. These speakers sound amazing compared to my old Speakers. The center channel is crisp and clear. The rear Speakers add great depth to movies. I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean 2 to test things out, it's like you're in the movie. I've never experienced that kind of sound before.

EDIT: I just upgraded my receiver to the STR-DG720, even more amazing. These Speaker are a match with other Sony products.

Great Completer Set
I paired these with a set of SSB-1000 Bookshelf Speaker.
They are a great set to complete for 5.0 surround, i would suggest a separate sub because i low end on the bookshelf Speaker or this set.
Center is clear and crisp, rears are mid-small and do the job just fine.

does what it is supposed to do

I had to review this system, to improve it's rating given by the previous reviewer. As opposed to him, I can't stand SONY. However, sometimes I had to buy their products because they have, at times, good ideas. Most of the time SONY can't follow through these ideas and they will drown right before they get to the shore, like they did with the minidisc, for instance.

They also have a horrible customer service, mostly incompetent.

However, their products, including this one, tend to be good, and not require service. That is if you can read through the crappy manual that looks like a folded piece of an old newspaper.

These Speakers are good. Especially if, as I did, buy them with the ipod dock. The sound is better for the other s-air system, with the wireless subwoofer, but this sound is not too bad, either.

I have a dock with the subwoofer in the livingroom, a Speaker like the one I am reviewing in the bedroom with the separate dock and a Speaker in the basement.

I can listen to the same music, from the livingroom, in the whole house, or, if I want to, just have music in the bedroom.

I was looking for a way to hook my non-SONY receiver in the family room, wirelessly, to all these Speakers (through the 3rd available s-air channel) but sony technical support could not help, as the representative was already brainwashed into thinking that SONY is the only brand around.

Great Product! Lousy Marketing/Manuals!!!!!!

I was looking to replace my sound system at home and looked at the S-Air. Sony had videos of very attractive people using their S-Air system, but in no way explaining exactly what it does and how it works. I gave up, but then I bought a Sony Home Theater system. The Sony Home Theater System had wireless Speakers and after reading reading the manual it said the Home Theater was compatible with their S-Air products. I went to Best Buy to pick get some help and they barely understood the product and gave me the wrong information. I went home and googled the manuals for all the S-Air products. This unit is designed to receive an S-Air Signal and play what's playing in the other room. That's it! Try to understand that from all garbage Sony's marketing team. The manuals are also crappy. My Home theater plays in the other room and when I'm in the kitchen I can continue listening to what's playing in the other room. It works very-very well. The sound isn't the greatest as it's a tiny Speaker, but it gets the job done, and is very easy to use.

Did exactly what I hoped it would do.

I bought this one for my bathroom in order to hear my news when getting ready for work in the morning. Clear sound and unit picks up the signal form the computer with no problem. I am very happy with it. I have the Sony system in every room, I love wireless like this. Thank you Sony.
