Landslides, floods in Iran kill seven

July 28, 2022: Flash flooding and landslides have claimed lives of at least seven people near Tehran, emergency services in Iran said.

According to the Iranian Red Crescent, 14 people have been injured with displacement of more than 500 people.

Floods and landslides have buried parts of Imamzadeh Davood with four meters (13 feet) of mud.

Last week, flooding in South of Iran killed 22 people.

September 13, 2021: A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5.1 has been recorded in Mashhad, Iran today.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake's epicenter was located 38 km ENE of Qūchān, Iran. The earthquake occurred at 10 km depth.

Iran Earthquake 2020: Magnitude 5.7 earthquake felt in Qatar and Bahrain

June 9, 2020: Magnitude 5.7 earthquake in Southern Iran has triggered tremor in Qatar and Bahrain today.

According to the Iranian Seismological Center, the earthquake occurred ar 10 km depth. The epicenter was located 22 km far from Beiram, Fars.

Qatar Meteorology Department confirmed that the tremor was felt in the eastern coast of Qatar. Most of the earthquake felt reports were received from Doha.

No damage or injuries have been reported from the earthquake.

Floods in Iran kill 11 as country battle coronavirus crisis

March 24, 2020: Floods in Iran have killed at least 11 people at a time when the emergency services battle coronavirus in the country.

Fatalities have been reported in the Fars Province and Kangan in the coastal province of Bushehr.

Heavy rainfalls created flash floods and swollen rivers in several Iranian provinces, including Fars, Bushehr, Hormozgan, Kerman and Sistan and Baluchestan in the southern parts of the country.

Iran: Qom earthquake measures 4.0 in magnitude

March 15, 2020: Magnitude 4.0 light earthquake has been recorded in Qom Province today, the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of the University of Tehran reported.

The earthquake's epicenter was located 19 km of Qom.

No major damage or injuries is expected from this earthquake in Qom today.

The 2003 Bam earthquake of magnitude 6.6 in magnitude killed at least 26,271 people and injured around 30,000 people in Iran.

5.2 magnitude earthquake in Shiraz, Iran today

January 27, 2020: Magnitude 5.2 earthquake has been felt in Shiraz, Iran today at 04:28 pm.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake's epicenter was located around 46 km far from Shiraz, Fars, Iran.

The earthquake occurred at 10 km depth.

Light shaking of MMI IV has been felt in Kāzerūn and Shiraz.

According to the Iran's Red Crescent, assessment teams have been dispatched to the quake site.

4.5 magnitude earthquake near Iran nuclear power

January 8, 2020: An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 has been recorded in Iran near the Bushehr nuclear plant today.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake struck 10 km southeast of Borazjan and 45 km far from Bushehr. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km.

No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported.

A similar earthquake near Iran nuclear power struck in late December.

Magnitude 5.9 earthquake in Iran kills 6, injures 345

November 8, 2019: At least five people have been killed and 345 others have been injured after magnitude 5.9 earthquake in north-western Iran.

According to the Iran's Seismological Center, the earthquake occurred at 2:17 a.m. local time in Iran's East Azerbaijan Province. The earthquake occurred at 8 km depth.

The epicenter was located 115 km WNW of Tabriz, East Azerbaijan, Iran.

The Red Crescent is supporting the affected people by providing emergency shelter and distributing food & relief items. Over 30 teams and two helicopters have been sent to assess the damage.

Incessant rains trigger floods in Iran, kills 2

November 3, 2019: Heavy rains caused chaos in Iran claiming lives of two people and left one missing.

According to the Red Crescent Organization, two people died in floods in Torbat Jam township. Another one person is reported to be missing in Mazanderan province of Iran.

Heavy rains and floods have affected provinces of Gorgan, Mazanderan, Radio Farda reported.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake occurred at 10km depth. The epicenter was located 218 km N of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The tremor was felt by residents in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and also Doha.

Floods in Iran kill 70 across 13 provinces

April 8, 2019: Recent flooding in Iran has claimed lives of at least 70 people.

According to the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), floods killed people across 13 provinces. The floods occurred during Iran's new year holiday of Norwuz.

The southern province of Fars had the biggest death toll of 21, followed by the western province of Lorestan, IRNA reported.

The recent disaster has flooded some 1,900 cities and villages across Iran.

Six people died in Pakdasht when a river broke its banks. Another four people died in Hormozgan province.

Flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall have claimed lives of atleast 11 people in northern Iran.

At least nine people have gone missing in the affected areas, Tehran Times has written quoting IRNA as saying.

The official IRNA state news agency said at least 30 cars have been pulled out of the mud, adding the number of the trapped cars is more than what has been reported. According to Mohammad-Taqi Irani, Deputy Governor of Alborz province, the Karaj river overflowed following heavy rainfall.

Two women and a Chinese national are among those killed, state TV said.

Moreover, highwinds of up to 80 km/h caused heavy damage in Tehran and its neighboring towns on Sunday evening.

Forest fire in Iran burns 80 hectares – Drones to monitor forests for fire alarms

Forest fire which began Saturday mid-morning has burned around 80 hectares land in Fars province of Iran.

"A total of 80 people from various organizations including police force, department of environment and even locals are trying to control the fire, " Tehran Times has written quoting Saeed Hormozi, head of the local department of environment.

The wind is directing the fire towards Ghomshei Plains of Sarvestan.

"The drones will be employed to monitor the forests for fire alarms," Tasnim News Agency reported quoting Sorena Sattari, Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Affairs. Drones are expected to report fires at the early stages which makes it easy to control.

Iran Flash Floods: One killed in Bandar Abbas, airport closed

Flash floods in Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas has claimed life of a person.

The eight-hour downpour caused flood damage estimated at $42.8 million, the provincial governor said on Thursday.

Flash floods have also forced the Bandar Abbas international airport to close, Global Post has written quoting the Fars News Agency.

The downpour has however ended a year-long drought in the area.

M 5.5 strong earthquake in Bastak, Iran has claimed life of a person and injured at least 30 people.

Several houses have been damaged by 10-60 percent due to earthquake, Iranian IRINN TV reported. The Red Crescent is currently evaluating the exact extend of damage.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 47 km S of Lar. It was 6.3 miles deep.

Following USGS Pager Map, light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Gerash, Kish, Bandar-e Lengeh, Bandar 'Abbas, Qeshm, Fasa, Darab, Umm al Qaywayn, Ra's al Khaymah, Firuzabad and Khasab.

A landslide hit Tehran, the capital city of Iran, local medias reported.

Landslide disaster occurred at Gulustan Avenue in western Tehran.

Nearby houses were evacuated immediately. No injuries have been reported.

Death toll has risen to 36. More than 3,000 houses are reported to be destroyed in Mashkeel area of Pakistan only. Following Pakistani Officials, earthquake has injured at least 150 people.

Magnitude 5.7 moderate aftershocks recorded in Iran-Pakistan border at 03:15 UTC. USGS estimates maximum shaking intensity of MMI III (weak??) in Khash, Iranshahr, Zahedan and Panjgur region.

According to Pakistan TV, death toll in Pakistan has risen to 34. More than 150 have been injured in Mashkeel Tehsil.
Iranian State Television has given earthquake damage data. IRNA has updated one death. This gives total death toll of 35 with more than 1,000 houses damaged.

Iranian State Television has now removed the death figure of 40 from its website and news scroll. Official IRNA news agency is now mentioning ZERO fatalities in Iran (Conflicting earthquake death toll??). Pakistan TV however mentions 26 deaths.

Pakistan Army is currently engaged in the disaster relief operations. Helicopters‚ medical staff‚ medicines and other goods have reached the affected areas in Balochistan. It is currently 08:36 PM in Pakistan.
According to Iran's Red Crescent, it is facing a "complicated emergency situation". This is the second deadly earthquake to hit Iran in less than a week. Earlier magnitude 6.1 temblor near Bushehr, Iran killed at least 37 people.

Radio Pakistan is mentioning a total of 66 deaths. 26 dead in Pakistan and 40 in Iran. At least 21 died and several injured in Mashkeel area and 5 in Panjgur area of Balochistan, Pakistan. More than 1,000 houses are damaged in the area. Currently Pakistan Army is engaged in the disaster relief operations. At least 50 people are injured in Karachi, Pakistan.
According to Iranian government, it is the biggest earthquake in Iran in 40 years. Iranian State Television is also reporting 40 deaths across Iran.

Iran has officially denied the death of 40 people in its country. Indian medias are reporting 12 deaths in Pakistan. Disaster response teams have arrived the affected area.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 86 km ESE of Khash and 167 km NE of Iranshahr. It was 51.0 miles deep.

The epicenter was near the south-east city of Khash, close to the Pakistani border.

-UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon extends his sincere condolences to the Iranian government and people.

"Hi I am Gulshan Kumar. I work as a security guard in Jumeirah. Today arround 5 pm, we felt our reception building shaking lightly but we ignore it first. When people started rushing, we knew about the earthquake."

-Death toll from Iran Bushehr earthquake has risen to 30.
-More than 500 people are reported to be injured.
-At least 17 ambulances along with emergency medical technician and earthquake relief teams have been send to the earthquake affected areas.

-Earthquake also caused panic in parts of Manama.

Emirats Towers Sheikh Zayed Road: Light shaking of a glass door in our office located on Sheikh zayed Road.
Dubai UAE: Myself and colleague felt tremor today at about 1600hrs. Building wobbled. Several friends reporting similar stories on social media. Not a significant tremor, but definitely felt the building wobble for a few seconds.
Sheik Zayed, Al Attar: Yes, we feel it, and I thought I just feel dizzy and about to get faint so I stand, but all my colleagues feel the sway of the building too, so all ladies got panic coz we are in 20th floor. But thanks God it just lasted for few seconds.
Abu Dhabi: We felt a weak shaking in our Building three times today at 4PM. Our building is located in AL Nasser Street, Corniche Road, Abu Dhabi. Some parts of the building creates an unusual noise while shaking.
Dubai: I felt with the shaking ...all the office staff were running away to go to the staircase ...i was feeling that my head is was shaking and i will get fainted .we are located in sh. zayed road.city tower 2.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 89 km SE of Bandar Bushehr and 92 km SSE of Borazjan. It was 6.2 miles deep.

The earthquake has occurred near the Borozjan fault, near a salt dome.
