Currently, the mp3 player does not work at all in Internet Explorer.
We're examining all possibilities why it doesn't work in IE, but does work in every other browser that exists.
For the moment, please use a browser such as Firefox to listen to tracks.
Keep you posted,

Sampling, posted by PassiePassion @ Jul 20, 2007 04:36

<span style="font-size: 18pt">S A M P L I N G</span>
[list]
There was no info on the new section
So i thought why not i'll create some info for my friends
First of all here is a site where you can learn how to make your own sounds
Vanguard , Pro-53 and Komplexer are explained
w*w.freewebs.com/websoundtutors/
I figure that we need to keep this legal as we dont want to get the site into trouble
So DONT make samples out of excisting presets
There are rights on those sounds so you cant use them for your samples
<u><b>Using CHAINER to create Multisample PRO</b></u>
This way you get the result as SF2 [uncompressed] or wav
SF2 is readable and convertable to many formats and has a preset
And you can make multisample presets and even multi VSTi stacked
So how big the preset ends up is all up to you
Just imagine loading up various VSTi synths and play them at ones
On top of that you can put VST Plugins
Thats a way to build SUPER FAT VOICES
Here's a simple way to do this in a blink of the eye
As a standalone without the need of your sequencer
Get Xlutop Chainer v1.03
http://www.xlutop.com/html/chainer.html
Install and run it
then it will automaticly search for your VST and VSTi PlugIns
-Load a VSTi at your first sloth ,Click the arrow ,Left Top
Now you can play your midi keyboard and hear the sound
-Editor 1 Gives you the VSTi Popup
-Editor 2 Gives you some editor sliders
At the end Double Click the presetname and copy it [Exit = Press Enter]
Goto FILE / EXPORT
Now set your save to folder
Push the Browse buton behined FILENAME and browse to a folder on you hd
Paste the presetname as filename and set format to SF2 and enter
Right click on the keys of the virtual midikeyboard to hear the sound
Left to select a note to be sampled [Left again to unselect]
I select C1 as the first note Then six notes up the next till F#5
Ending with 10 samples thats 8.24 mb if you takem en 4000 [4 seconds long]
You can adjust the Hold [ms] to make longer or shorter samples
I put it on 4000 That way i can edit it later to make a perfect loop
Hit export and your good to go
<u><b>Why set it to SoundFront and not wav?</b></u>
As for the soundfront player
I have never used any of them
The only reason for me to use the sf2 instead of the wav as output is the PRESET
I convert the sf2 to exs-wav with CDXtract as soon as its on sf2
So i never realy use the soundfront to playback its a convertion format to me :D
SF2 has a preset wav only has no preset so you cant convert it for samplers
<u><b>Some aditional info here on Sample Naming</b></u>
PLEASE , PLEASE be carefull with your sample naming
I got several HomeMade sample sets which i had to fix before i could use them in a proper way
I guess these errors come up by using their software wrong or the software is just bad which they use
Problem 1:
You get a preset and samples in 1 folder [their own folder]
Then you try to convert it to YOUR format
CDXtract converts the sounds for you in 2 folders
-Samples
-Presets
You look at the size of your new samples folder and guess what ?
It should be about 500 mb but its only 12 mb or so WTF
Problem 2:
Another caused by the same problem
You load your preset but get a warning from your sampler
It finds the same sample in various different preset folders
So you end up with a preset sounding all wrong
<u><b>WHAT WENT WRONG IN THE BUILDING OF THE SET?</b></u>
I made about 30 of these soundsets so i know where it went wrong by experience
It is VERY IMPORTANT to have UNIQUE names for all your samples
If you let Sample Robot do all the naming for you automaticly
Then you will end up with many folders holding different sounds with the same names
Same happens with Chainer cos chainer gives each sample the name of the note hight c1,c2
So once you sampled your VSTi to SF2 [1 sound=10 samples]
Then convert it to lets say kontact and look inside the samples folder
If you see sample names like C1.waw and so on then you need to rename !
To do this in a batch way
Just make all the SF2 that you like to make
When you convert them to your destination format make shure to give each preset its own folder
To do this mark make directory structure at CDXtract
You do this to avoid overwriting the samples since they all will have the same names
You CANT just rename the samples cos the presets are linked to the sample names
So when you try to load it then it will take ages as your sampler will search your whole pc for the right samples
So you open the sounds with your sampler canceling the error popup when it finds the same sound in various folders
Then you edit your preset and click the sample edit to browse to the right folder
The preset name is a reference to the presetfolder name so thats how you find the right samples
Its best to copy the foldername before you go into the folder to select the samples
You go into the folder select the sample and reneme it by selecting the name before C1.wav
Copied foldername 000 Example we past on the sample name 000 Example C1.wav
Now you click the second sample within your sampler
Browse to it and rename C2.wav to 000 Example C2.wav
When you renamed all your samples within the preset
Close the preset saving the changes at exit and your done
<u><b>Converting With CDXtract to create a MULTIFORMAT Set</b></u>
When you renamed all your samples
Take out the presets to put them into 1 folder
LEAVE THE SAMPLES INSIDE THE FOLDER
* If you move the samples aswell than you'll get errors when converting with CDXtract
ALSO realy hit set everytime when you convert to a multiformat
Visualy it looks like you still put it in the samples folder
But if you dont hit set at samples aswell then you'll create the samples again
Just hit set after you set a new program folder and you'll see in which folder you'll be [the wrong one]
Start CDXtract to browse to your presets
Save to convert all the presets in the folder
As an output you can set it to drop all the samples in a samples folder
And the presets in a preset folder
This means you can make it MULTIFORMAT
Just choose kontact output samples to the NEW Kontakt sample folder
Presets to a folder named KONTAKT
Now convert again for REASON
For the presets make a new folder called REASON
As the samples output folder DONT EVER choose the same samples folder
WARNING !!! WARNING !!!!
Dont send the samples to the same folder because you'll end up with silent wavs
So if you do various formats also make a new folder for the samples
On the end of the convertion delete the various double samples folders
Keep the ones where you hear the sound is still ok
You wont overwrite the samples and you can use the same samples for all the different formats
This makes it easyer for your friends on other formats
And you got UNIQUE names now so you wont get the errors anymore :)
<u><b>Another update conserning CDXtract convertions</b></u>
After i changed all the samples and saved the preset to a new folder to get a completely new preset
Instead of doing save settings to instrument ,which would overwrite the excisting preset
I deleted the original presets which were linked to the badly named samples
In my sampler all the sounds loaded ok after deleting the other presets
So i SHOULD have new clean presets linked only to the renamed samples ,,,,,,,,Right !!!!
Wel ,,,,i tryed to convert the newly made presets
And CDXtract started to search for the badly named samples aswell as the good samples
I had to do search everytime to get it converted
That would work since i dont need the badly named samples anymore
And cdxtract does find the good samples
but that would force me to click thousands of times for every sample it cant find 4x dvd = 4x127x10=5080 clicks :woot:
and i need to wait for search then everytime
Which takes a lot of time
Thats bull so there must be something wrong
I moved the samples to another disc which cdxtract didnt scan yet
But same problem there
so i deleted the cdxtract memory to force it to scan again [ CDXTRACT4 \ ctlg ]
Didnt work eighter
So i was up with a mistery here
New presets which loaded ok at the sampler and were linked ok to the renamed samples
Yet still cdxtract wanted the old samples aswell as the new
HTF could cdxtract even know the old name as these were newly saved presets not overwritten saves
Still i dont have a clue to how cdxtract could get those names
Especialy if you know how i worked around it hahahaha
<u><b>The WorkAround</b></u>
Put all the samples and presets back in the instruments folder
In the same structure as you had them when you made the presets to avoid the need for your sampler to search again
Then open all the sounds one by one and save them again in a new folder
DONT ASK ME WHY
But when you use cdxtract to convert the second saved presets
Then the error wont come up anymore and cdxtract will find the samples at once [/quote]
Sorry list ,code nor nfo works so i cant workaround the wordwrap

He Monk,
vriendelijke groetjes :)

New website and no migration., posted by Monk @ Nov 16, 2006 07:20

Afternoon,
People have found the 'transition' to the new site abit of a shock.
Let me say first that we are sorry that the data could not migrate over to the new platform.
This meant that profiles and tracks will need to be re-entered. This is partly for a reason, there were too many dead profiles and tracks hanging around the old site that we didn't know what to do with and the old site didn't match all to well with the new structure.
So we start fresh. With fresh new tracks and features, fresh stream of talent and we hope people can appreciate our decision in this.
Thanks people

Site outage and more, posted by Monk @ Mar 25, 2007 13:57

Hey all. Well, we got everything up and running again- hopefully we have all the problems worked out of the system.
What happened? Well we could drone out a chronological tale of happenings. But to put it in a nutshell- all shit hit the fan, when the shit was hitting the fan...Or to put it more elegantly- Murphy's law struck with a vengeance.
Well- now everything is up and running we have to move on, and even though we worked on the problem everyday, we made a-lot of progress with the rest of DJTRX and our plans for the future.
But now it's late- and we tech people do sleep every now and then. But stay tuned for more news tomorrow and the day after.
Thanks...

Strange Sounding Tracks: REASON, posted by omitho @ Jan 12, 2007 19:43

I tried reading some of the dutch posts, but the translation is horrible. As you can see by my profile, I have a fleet of tracks to put on there. I tried uploading 2 or 3 tracks I made with Reason years ago, but for some reason they sounded slow. Has anyone had any similiar problems? I have copied these files, burned them to cd's dvd's and NEVER have I had anything as weird as this. Imagine a turntable with a record playing at 33 rpm which is a standard in the US, well it was, anyhow, imagine slowing it to 30 rpm. That is what my tracks sounded like when I uploaded them here.

Re : Time meter, posted by R.O.U.D.O.S @ Feb 07, 2007 08:38

I think that the addition of a time meter when the tracks are playing would be very useful. First for just knowing the length of the track, and second for having a time reference when anyone wants to comment for a specific part of track, so the producer of it or the members can skip directly there and know what's it about.

Checklist For Download Contracts, posted by PassiePassion @ Nov 22, 2007 15:33

http://www.checkjecontract.nl/nl/quickscan.aspx
<u> CHECKLIST FOR DOWNLOAD CONTRACTS </u>
This is an example for independent lables or bands
The site that exploids your music is your licencetaker and distributor
Also called Retailer or Shopsystem
The Band-Lable is the masterowner and is called the Licenor of lable
So this checklist is NOT for contracts between master owner-lable and an Aggregator
Or a sales person who makes deals with other download supliers
An Aggregator is a big distributor
These are the 2 points that are most important to consider
1] NEVER sign a contract that is EXCLUSIVE
2] And it has to be easy to end the contract
<u> 1. Always get a Non-Exclusive contract </u>
You do this to stay able to host your songs at various download sites
To reach more potential customers which is your motivation to put it online
The ONLY reason to sign an Exclusive contract is
If they offer you a supstansual advance payment
So if the lable is willing to give you 100.000 euros to buy musical tools
Then they spend money on you thus they got a right to bind you to them
At net-download sites they hardly do anything for you
So thats just a distributional task for them without investing any money in you
They earn their money because you give them the chance to sell YOUR product
So you are the one who offers them a way to earn money not the other way around
Another exception could be if you can get to customers that you normaly cant reach
In some contracts the distributor expects that the licencegiver
Is not only the owner of the recording but also the owner of the Author-rights
This means that if you didnt write the music and-or the texts you CAN'T sign the contract
Be very carefull with OPTIONS FOR THE DOWNLOADSUPLIER
Some contracts mention that you have to put your digital version at their site for future productions
So then you HAVE TO host your future music at their site once you get it on vinyl
<u> 2. Parties have to be able to unbind the contract in an easy and fast way </u>
Make shure that the contract is only for a short time [ 1 year ] which will automaticly flow into a next year
That can be ended by one of the both parties looking at a waiting time of 1 or several months
Before the current year ends
A timesless contract with a short get away time is good aswell
You also got to make clear what the status of your songs will be after finishing the contract
For what time period will your songs stay available on the site and when will the final payment come
Some sites state that once you uploaded your music it has to stay on the site for 3 years
SellABand has 1 year if i recall right this for the so called investers on that site
So be clear about this since it limits your freedom of doing a new deal a lot
In almost every contract you'll see that the licencetaker expects that he can make Sub-Licences aswell
Thats not a problem but make shure that the same contract terms count on the sub-licence
And that the licencetaker stays responsable to do the payments
Make shure that the contract ending time, that counts for the licencetaker, counts for
the sub-licencetaker aswell
<u> 3. The payment and way of paying </u>
The payments mentioned are mostly based on a procentage of netto income
Be shure that the definition of neto income gets stated clearly
And that its not based on an endless spending opertunity with an open end
Your procentage should be 50-60% of the netto price
But its important on what part the procentage counts off course
Sometimes you see clear cost payments for every download to make it clear
Get an on the side statement that clearly states what costs the downloadgiver can make
while spreading 1 download
What are the bandwidh costs, payment system costs, payments to rights organisations and other costs ?
Lets say you ask 0,99 for one download then what are the specific costs
And what is the netto amount for the band-lable
If there is no info about this in the contract then ask for an acounts example
Ask for monthly statements and payments
The downloadsuplier can only change the prices after a writen ok from the band-lable
Is it possible to have special promotional prices after an ok from the downloadsuplier ?
If thats the case how are the payments arranged then ?
If the downloadoffering site makes these actions without consulting you ,how much will you get ?
How many free downloads is he allowed to give in those situations ?
There are sites that have mebers who get special prices with their membership
What are the payments and how are they merged into the normal payments ?
<u> 4. Make clear statements about how you give your songs </u>
It has to be clear on what way you offer your material and who takes care of the editing [DRM]
and adding of metadata so that you wont get the bill presented in the end
<u> 5. PROMOTION </u>
On what way does the provider promote his site?
What kind of promotional things are done for you ?
Make shure that costs for these actions go to the download offerer
Is it a well known site or do customers need to search to find the site ?
Does the siteowner place baners on other sites where downloaders come to get customers ?
Is it possible to make a link to them from your artist page ?
<u> 6. A look into salles amounts and a checkup </u>
Try to get the abillity to look into the salles statistics of the site
Salles amounts, information about the downloader, where songs got sold [statistics]
Make shure that you at least get your yearly AUDIT [Accountants check]
<u> 7. Guarenties of the downloadofferer </u>
The downloadofferer has to take care of Authorrights payments and payments to the band-lable
And is responsable to do this within the time bariers
<u> Some global points to look at that are different in every contract, but are less harmfull </u>
1. Secrecy
2. How are the trax presented in lenght-Quality
3. Using of Logo, Name and Brand
4. Explicit have to's for both parties
5. On which right is the contract based [rulles are different in some foreign countries]
6. Unbind reasons for the contract and payments costs for unbinding
7. Way of communicating
8. Payments Royalty statements

After the party........, posted by R.O.U.D.O.S @ Sep 01, 2007 17:18

Well, first i'd like to say that i really enjoyed the party on Studio 80 on Friday the 31st of August. Personally i think it was a great success especially when comparing it with the first one last December. But of course it's an unfair comparison since the first one took place when DJTRX was in its very first steps. But anyway, December 1st last year, has to be a point of reference in order to evaluate the growth of DJTRX, which imo is huge since that time.
The only negative point was that unfortunately the second stage didn't receive the "appreciation" it should. And i don't say that because i was djing there. For me it was more or less expected to be so. When there are two stages it is logical that the main attraction will be the main stage. And the attendance to the second stage depends on a lot of different factors, like how large is overall the club hosting the party, how many people are attending the party and the country itself or the city(i generalize it but that's how it is, i believe)with its own music preferences and influences for the people who live there.
Personally i liked it the same as if it was full. I was given the chance to dj after long time again, and not only that, i had the opportunity and the freedom to spin some of my most favorite tracks ever. And as it seemed from the people that were there(and their comments afterwards) they enjoyed it very much as well.
The main room from around 12:30(if i'm not mistaken) was almost full until very late. I spend a lot of time in both stages, but mostly i was in the main room, the vibe was great and the crowd was dancing all the time which makes this party a success and congrats to the djs for giving to all of us a great time.
Sorry for the long post but i just wanted to express my thoughts about it. I'm really looking forward to the next one whenever it's gonna take place, and i'm sure it's gonna be a far greater success.
Congratulations again to all the people who worked and contributed everyone in its own way for this great night.

Aanschaf van Set., posted by Tiako @ Jul 16, 2007 06:20

Hallo,

Production tools, posted by Grooveron @ May 25, 2007 01:18

Zaterdag 2 Juni 2007
Digidesign (Protools),
Amptec (Moog, Native instruments),
Eye 4 Systems, (Muziek computers)
TM-Audio (Motu),
Mafico (M-audio, Rode, Event)
DSI Synthesizers. (Evolvers van Dave Smith)

Nieuwe audioPC / MAC: hoe en wat?, posted by Ramtha @ Nov 20, 2007 12:44

Beste forumleden,
HEEEELLLLLLPPPPP!

Remixer(s) needed, posted by Meesterwerk @ Mar 19, 2007 08:18

Hi folks,
I want to make a release with my track Revoluzion. At first I planned to make a sort of album with loads of different tracks, but thanx to Vinnie (also known from this site) i've came up with an other plan. Vinnie asked me if it's alright for him to remix Revoluzion, now he's busy doing that. I wanted to make a release with a few versions of the same track, remixed by some of the artists on djtrx. You will get a cut.
Let me know if you're interested by sending me a message or simply give a reply on this topic.

Logic en Protools combi, posted by Sayonara Baby @ Jun 14, 2007 10:36

Thanks! M

OmithO Group Gear, posted by omitho @ Jan 31, 2007 17:17

1. For final mixdown use headphones.
Listen to the track or tracks on multiple speaker systems and headphones. In my studio, I have 3 different ways to listen. I have a typical JVC home surround sound system with a seperate powered subwoofer to see how songs will sound on a normal stereo. I am using Acoustic Reference monitors for that, they have a 12 inch sub woofer in them with adjustable crossover for the mids and highs. When I am doing production, I am listening through a quiet Samick vocal mixer and a pair of Alesis point seven monitors. I get a really flat quiet sound from these. I also use Bose TriPort headphones for getting the panning and velocities exactly where I want them.
Note: Those built in speakers in your monitor, or those little small computer speakers just won't cut it. If you are poor like I use to be, do yourself a favor and buy some good speakers before you buy anything else.
2. For people only using software:
Cool Edit Pro / Adobe Audition these are the same program, only in my opinion adobe audition trimmed the fat from cool edit, as a lot of the processes have been sped up. Why do I mention this program? This is a great way to adjust a final mixdown track. Using their EQ you can preview the track while you make adjustments and hear the difference.
This program also has great echo/delay/flanger and a multitrack recorder. I personally never use the multitrack, mainly I use the EQ, the amplifier(usually to cut the track by 2 or 3 db because its too loud or something) and the "bell curve" envelope to fade a track to silence at the end.
I will be posting small articles like this in my group "Gear", to discuss basically the same thing here + hear from the community and myself about pro's and con's of pieces of gear we have knowledge about.
