I had a very strict mother who didnt allow me to do much until I was 18. So at 19 and 20 I was doing things others had done in their early teens. My sister dared me one day to shoplift saying I didnt have the guts, called me a goody two shoes “always doing the right thing”. I got very upset and decided to do it to prove her wrong. I might have been 20 but I was very naive and stupid at the time. I have since grown up and never stolen since. I would never even think of doing anything like that again. I am now raising my children making sure they know that for every action there are consequences. I am having a very hard time getting employment due to my record, no one seems to even consider the fact that it has been over 20 years since the conviction and that people can change.

After serving my country in Vietnam I went home to Arizona and got into some trouble. I was charge and convicted with a federal conspiracy charge to import marijuana, I received 2 years probation and have never been in any trouble with thelaw in 35 years, I adopted two afro-American children with no issues after being fingerprinted and cleared. I had a brilliant career with the local Water District being promoted three times.Evenually,I was promoted to Mangement. I served 22 years and was responsible for the construction of over 100 million dollars in new infratruture, The point is I made one mistake and now after retiring from work that thank god you the (government) didn’t get a chance to ruin my life as you did to hundreds of thousands of others is completing uncomprehensible.I received my voting rights back and am asking that this blemish on my record to disappear. Ater all half of the Congress and quite a few of the Commander and Chiefs are probably in over my one mistake, Sincerely, Stan H.

Me telling you what happened may or may not have an effect on anyone, however but to truly know me as a person many would not believe that I a young man of many would say has a bright future ended up in this predicament. Truth is it could’ve happened to anyone who believe that no one would jeopardize there livelihood. At the time I was around 19 or 20yrs of age just had a accident that placed me in a comma for 2 weeks. I awoke to find that my face was fractured along with the normal cuts and bruises and a smile that people would say can light a room to be have gone, or what I like to call it the half a million dollar smile, all from a car accident heading to work in which I have no memory of how it happened. Regardless I was not myself and although I am very much a people person and excluded myself from dealing with anyone except my immediate family. I was on bed rest for a few months before I actually even set foot outside of my families home which was in part that I would be worried about what others would say or think. However, there was a neighbor that did take interest in me and wanted to help me do more with my life and teach me the roll of a computer technician. My mother wasn’t too thrilled about me working with him let alone even going to his home but I went any way because honestly I had fun learning the things I had learned that I didn’t even think I would even care to. My neighbor and I traveled all over Florida working various contracted jobs which for him was just work but for me was a whole new world to show everyone of what I could now do even without the smile everyone so knew me for. Anyway time had past me and my mother had a disagreement about me working with the neighbor and now just hanging out with him all the time. She didn’t trust him at all and constantly wanted me to stay on guard. In my mind she didn’t know him like I did he took care of me when things my mother could do or just didn’t want to. At the end of it all she kicked me out and created a big commotion on the block in which we lived. Neighbors pretty much already knew our business she threw me out. Now to me I have never been into drugs or alcohol, partying or just hanging out to hang out always work college and home. Family was very strict and didn’t allow me to “waste time” which is why working with my neighbor Ray was fun but I was still learning at the same time. Well Ray took me in with his family gave me my own room and pretty much allowed me to be my own man, something I never had a real chance of doing living with my mom. Either way because of how I grew up I still never strayed from what I was taught even not having to be around my mom. Now Ray was the type of guy where people always hung around either because they thought he could teach them to work certain software or get work, even needed a helping hand in life he was just there for everyone doors was always open. Well needless to say we had a falling out because he would have me do jobs tell me he’d pay ex amount of dollars so I can take of things and it wouldn’t happen, which happened a lot working for Ray along with quite a few others. At this time He sends me to live with a guy in the neighborhood named Armando. He was one I just didn’t trust at all, but Ray said he was a good guy to give him a chance and I always listened to Ray so I did. Armando gave me my own room as well, didn’t really like being there at first but getting to know him I figured he was a good person and trusted him more than Ray because anytime he said he was going to do something he did it no questions asked as with Ray it was the opposite especially concerning money. Ray gave my old room to a kid named Malike who wanted to learn computers too, we were both around the same age although our mindsets on things in general Ray just wanted to get him to learn a trade by having me teach him what I know so he could get in some work with us. After a while I noticed Ray started to slowly cut me out of the picture. All I had was Armando. I felt lost heavily depressed because I didn’t have my own family to help me and then again I didn’t have anyone in my corner or so I thought. I was convinced by Armando to go into the military. He would say “if your going to go in go all in” So I enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. I was scared but Armando put me in shape quick to the point I benching 200+ plus past my own body weight. He gave me confidence and made me realized I didn’t need my family or Ray I just needed myself. I was dealing with a recruiter by the name of staff Sargent C., He was another guy I felt wanted to help me I showed up every other Saturday for physical training in Lessburgh, FL. . To cut a long story short I swore in and was due to ship out during these times Armando told me to deposit some checks into my account. I lived with him long enough to know he didn’t have one never asked why, pretty much if he asked me to do anything and never asked questions as long as I knew that I wasn’t doing anything wrong. I agreed and went to the same bank my family and I have been dealing with since I was in high school in that town they knew me very well as well as my mother and grandmother. I deposited thousand dollar checks or so I tried the teller that I did know asked me where did the money come from I told her my roommate Armando she told me in order to deposite the money she needed him there and he has to have picture I.D. I called him to let him know right in front of her of what she needed he told me “no problem come pick me up” so I did. I brought him to the bank that me and my family used Florida Mutual which was in Clermont,FL. The same teller looked him up and down and at the I.D swipe the checks through some machine and told me in front of him it would be available within 24hrs and him and I both left. I gave him the card since I didn’t have any money in the account any way so that he can have access to his funds. I never took a dime didn’t care I was just excited to leave and go into the military and start a real life for myself!!! I left to Tampa to the MEPS station for test etc. the recruiter who I’m now really close to told me that Armando was never in the marines let alone the military. That was something I didn’t know nor did anyone else because everyone in the neighborhood and anywhere else we’ve been he would tell that story of him being in there. I found out I thought he was lying but I did believe him because I knew that this staff Sargent could find out that bit of info if need be. Within this time I started talking to my mom again told her my choice of being sign up to go into the Marines and when I would be shipped out for boot camp. She wasn’t happy hearing it but she said its my life I have to make my own choices in which I moved back home just to spend a few days with them before being shipped out. My mother dropped me at the recruiting office on a Saturday morning early because she had to go to work and she wanted to see me off. I must of waited 4 hrs. before the recuriter came he informed me that he told Armando that they changed my ship out date and that he was to tell me which of course he didn’t. Staff Sargent C. told me he didn’t trust him and something wasn’t right I told him how the bank called me once to come in and wouldn’t tell me what it was concerning and I went but no one knew about such a call, I told him how I deposited the checks for him and he told me that I was foolish…but I didn’t know I was wrong I was just helping who I thought was a friend I didn’t think much of it. That same Sargent C. was about to drom me home and the block was filled with cops. I live in a fairly nice neighborhood so when you see that many you really want to know whats going on! I get to my house and all of groveland P.D swarm me I didn’t know what was wrong or why because I didn’t do anything wrong sure I have a lot of traffic citations but nothing to deserve that much attention. I was arrested in front of all my neighbors and taken to jail it was then the officers told me what I was arrested for. I was angry and I told them it wasn’t me that the bank could vouch for me…it turned out that the checks were counter fit. How was I to know? Why me? Why would he do this to me knowing I was set to leave? Everything I was working towards to better my life was taken in less than a few seconds. Meanwhile the police never went after Armando just me. When word got to my parents they were going to take the law into there own hands being that everyone both families co- workers neighborhood neighbors knew I had nothing to really do with that! My mom went to Armandos house and secretly recorded him and asked him if I knew anything about it? he stated “NO” my mom asked him why his only excuse was he needed the money. All of this was recorded to help me get out of a situation I didn’t realize I placed myself in. At the end of it all it was not submittable in court. I was given 2 yrs probation in which I completed and relocated from that area just because of the feeling I get knowing that where it all started, as for the military I did go back to the recruiter after I finished probation like he said but they weren’t able to do anything for me. Even though its adjudication withheld I still have problems finding work because even though I’m qualified and have the experiences that is the reason I loose opportunities. I am now 27 yrs old and have been doing odds and end jobs to make it, I attend college even though I don not believe it would even matter because of my record I have. I wish I wasn’t so stupid but as kid or anyone else you live and you learn…one thing still bothers me though…why did they not get the statement from the teller or review the camera instead as the judge so kindly put it “its your account your crime”. Maybe I should have been a criminal or maybe I should have just listened to my family and trusted no one.

THIS IS A TRUE STORY I MADE A TERRIBLE MISTAKE NOV,30,1988 BY HAVING IN MY POSESSION LESS THAN 25 GRAMS OF COCAINE IN MY POSSESION I WAS ARRESTED CHARGED AND WAS GIVEN A BOND $125.00 WHICH I COULD NOT AFFORD I SPENT 3 DAYS IN THE WAYNE COUNTY JAIL AND WAS RELEASED ON A PERSONAL BOND WITH A RETURN COURT DATE ON THAT DAY I DID GO TO COURT BUT THE JUDGE WAS SENDING EVERYONE WHO WAS RELEASED WITH ME BACK TO JAIL AFRAID I LEFT KNOWING NOW I HAD A WARRANT FOR MY ARREST I RAN FOR 3 MONTHS AND WAS FINALLY ARRESTED 3 MONTHS LATER I WAS PLACED BACK IN THE COUNTY JAIL WHERE I WAS FORGOT ABOUT THEY HAD NO RECORD OF ME BEING IN JAIL THE POLICE WOULD COME TO MY GRANDMAS HOUSE LOOKING FOR ME SHE HAD TO TELL THEM THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS I WAS ALREADY IN JAIL IM STRUCK IN JAIL NO HELP FROM THE GUARDS SOCIAL WORKERS NO FINALLY I GOT ONE SOCIAL TO LOOK AT MY CASE AND SHE FINALLY GOT ME A COURTDATE BEFORE JUDGE DAVID A WHO I BELIEVE WHO WAS KICKED OFF THE BENCE FINALLY DISMISSED THE CASE AFTER THE POLICE DIDNT SHOW UP THREE TIMES SO THE CASE WAS DISMISSED I BELIEVE 03/1989 THE END… NO SEPT 1989 WHILE TRYING TO GET A POLICE CLEARANCE FOR A NEW JOB I WAS RE-ARRESTED ON THIS SAME CASE??? RE-TRYED CONVICTED GIVEN 2 YEARS PROBATION AND 100 HOURS COMMUNITY SERVICES COMPLETED SUCCEFULLY NOW FINALLY THE THE END ??? cannot get job because of mistake

I had my car searched without cause for a different reason and the officer found a small amount of cocaine residue in a bag in my car. I was arrested and convicted and I lost my job and cannot get a job now. I have been working for over 40 years, paying taxes and caring for a family of 4 kids over 2 marriages. My second wife has since died and I am the single parent/provider for my kids (both in HS). I made a mistake (not even knowing that the narcotic bag was in my car) It was my birthday the day before and in the midst of celebrating the bag was left in my car by mistake. My life is ruined for illegal substance in my car (possession) and I was not even under the influence (since the cocaine had been used the night before). I am not a “criminal” although I by law I guess I am since it is illegal to possess cocaine. I do not even get another chance after otherwise being a law-abiding, working taxpayer, putting kids through college (2 of them) and now trying to put 2 more through HS and hopefully college. Without a JOB I don’t think the latter will happen. I am going crazy trying to find a decent job. I am a computer system programmer (have been doing the same thing for over 35 years ).

My story starts with having a relationship with a wonderful man. For the first year we had protected sex and once we figured out we were serious about our relationship we started having unprotected sex. A year of unprotected sex and living together, now two years into the entire relationship, I get a phone call at work from a woman telling me that this man had AIDS. I thought this was a jealous woman trying to break us up, he did drive for DART, so he met many women. As the days went by I noticed different things, like he would go out to the truck every night for some reason. I then asked him one day after work, he kept the refrig stocked with beer. So on this particular day I started drinking waiting for him to come in from work, I asked him if it was true. He said yes and I thought that he was trying to kill me so in my intoxicated state I was going to kill him. I did not shoot him, but I was arrested, he dropped the charges and the state picked them up. By the grace of God I did not contract the virus at all. I am healthy and I later married him and he died in 2005. I am being treated as if I have killed lots of people and I’ve hurt no one at all. I desreve a second chance, God gave me one.

When i was 13 i made the biggest mistake of my life.i hurt some one who is very close to me and i got charged with a sex offence,let me tell you that i regret that choice and i am very sorry that i did it,now me and her have a very strong bond yes she is my little sister,let me also say that i did go through sex offender treatment as a juvenile and i completed it so i was allowed to return home,she has forgiven me and so has my family.but after i got back home i had to register as a sex offender,a few years passed and i decided to go back to school after i dropped out to get my high school diploma i went to the police department in my area to inform them that i’m moving on the schools campus and i guess they didn’t get the memo or some thing so i got arrested for failure to register as a sex offender and i sat 6 months in jail and got 5 years probation. after that i got kicked out of the place where i was living at the time and became homeless so then i had to report to the p.d. in that area on a weekly bases and regrettably i missed two check ins so i got yet another felony charge,i am off probation now and i am living at a place and i am trying to get a job but finding it very difficult to get employment with this type of felony on my record,i am actually living with my mom and sister as of the moment.it would be so much easier to obtain my goal of becoming an over the road truck driver if i didn’t have to register my address and if the p.d. didn’t need to know where i was.it would be so much easier to get my life back on the right track if i didn’t have this felony and didn’t have to register as a sex offender.i am very much a law biding citizen.

I live in missouri and have for 56 years only the last 20 plus, I each and every day still pay my so called debit to socitey. I AM A FELON. Why ? I was said to have knowingly posessed 1/10 th of a percent of first meth then amended to amphetamine. I fought it for about 4 yrs untill one retired dect got on stand told a lie then another came into the courtroom and told the same lie. After court they both meet me just outside the courtroom and said to me this. “Youve seen what we can do, if you dont make a plea you are going to get 7 years if you take this to trial ,and we can come up with wittness ,you saw what we did today,we are tired of you Dillard you better make a plea or you will get 7 years.” SO I made an alford plea did 2 years probation with no problems then nor have I had in 20 some yrs.EXCEPT I AM A FELON because my lawyer lead me right into it,without a hint of a SIS nor was I educated of such at that time. I have applied 3 times for clemency of coarse Mo. says or use to but less and less each year because MISSOURI DOESNT GIVE PARDONS TO AVG PEOPLE . Ialmost had one I still hahe the letter where A Gov said he would be happy to help but he was killed in a plane crash before his last term had he lived and been elected. My lawyer went to prison hinself and also is now deceased my judge is retired but I am still being punished and cant even have one of the many firearms my late Father wished me to have. nor could I retire as he did with a monthly federal retirement check. I couldnt own a bussiness searving liquor or sell cars as a dealer. and the list goies on. I am thinking of starting what could be the largest organisations (yea bad spelling ha ha) in the US and ya got to be a felon to be in it, 1 dollar a year to proclaim your fame amd offically be a member just maybe THEN WE WOULD HAVE A LARGE ENOUGH VOICE TO BE REALLY HEARD TO ESTABLISH X- FELONS there was more to this story but I was in a hurry to get to the end. signed Bruce

It was January 9, 2010 and cold outside. I was in my car at my apartment complex waiting for my friend and co worker of 10 years to get home. We lived in the same complex. It was Friday and I started my vacation and it was also my birthday weekend. We left at the same time around 10 p.m. he stopped to get some Gin and I was waiting for him. While waiting 2 cops walked up from the rear of my car and shined the light on me and I rolled the window down. They asked if I have heard about the robberies going on in the neighborhood and I said no. I was still in my uniform. It’s brown and is for a delivery company. I told them that I lived in the building across the street. They asked what I was doing sitting in my car? I told them where my friend lived and his name and said it’s it’s too cold to wait on his porch. They asked for my I.D. so I gave it to them. I had my Para Trooper Plate on my car and he asked how long I was in the Army so I told him. He then leans in my car to hand me my license back and says it smells like weed in my car. I told him that’s funny cause I don’t smoke because I drive for a living and get random drug test and if I get in an accident I get drug tested. He saw a bottle of unopened amsterdam in the backseat and a cup of juice I had in my cup holder. He said he can search my car now because of the cup. I told it does not have any liquor in it. He said it’s still an open container. He then told me to get out of my car so he can search it or we can wait for the dogs. I said I’ll wait. My friend pulls up and sees the cops at my car. He walks up and ask what was up? The cop ask his name and where he lives. He gives the cop his I.D. The cop tells him to go inside or he will be arrested for interfering with a police investigation. So he tells me the dogs are coming and to get out or he will remove me from my car himself. I get out he searches me and finds a 20$ sack of coke and searches my car and finds nothing. He is so proud of the big time bust and told me if I tell him where the “Big Timer” was I got that from he would let me go at the police station. So I go to jail that night and get released on O.R. I go back to work a week later because I was starting vacation the day of arrest. About three weeks later I go to court and plead guilty to cocaine possession I get sentenced 3 years probation. A Driver at work learned of my arrest, printed out my mug shot and showed it to my supervisors. So I lose my job of 10 years. I lose my car and my apartment. I violate probation because I can’t find a job while on probation. I go to jail for 180 days I get out in November of 2010. I’m homeless and jobless and by April 2011 and I move to California. My cousin sent me money for a bus ticket and said he can get me a job. I get to Cali and they do a background check and can’t hire me. So now I’m still in Cali homeless and jobless this is May 2013. I have filled out over 300 applications I go to interviews and I know I am qualified until they check my Background. Even McDonalds does checks now. I have all of the applications I have filled out and their rejections. This is ridiculous I’ve had a job since I was 15. I worked at Publix for 3 years, U.S. ARMY 4 years and Delivered parcels for 10 years. I know what I did was a mistake and have learned from it. I don’t think that because of a $20 mistake I should be banned from living a meaningful life as a human being. The only thing I have not tried yet is selling drugs or robbing people but who knows I’m tired of being optimistic.

Plain and simple cut and dried. I was wrongfully arrested for domestic violence. My lawyer advised a no contest plea ( which is a guilty plea) I received a fine, informal probation and community service as well as counselling . The female told the DA I did not do this but the DA refused to allow that from her. The female DA wanted to hang me. I only took the deal because there was no jail time. The sad part is I had a concealed weapons permit. They took my permit as well as my weapon. I think that my weapon should have been returned as well as my permit. Neither one had anything to do with the arrest. The weapon was for my safety as a cabdriver during work. Otherwise the weapon was in my safe secured.
