If you have wanted to begin using solar energy for your own use but have found that it is prohibitively expensive or simply not practical then you may be like most people.

That is about to change. Stop thinking you cannot get involved nor make a difference. Everyone is now able to produce their very own supply of solar energy today at a very reasonable price point.

Begin small now by charging your own electrical devices such as your iPhone, Androids, Kindles and thousands of other electronic devices using this practical and esthetically simple one-button device. Changers is the name of the product that will now allow you to do this with at a price point that all can afford.

But have you ever considered using a pen made primarily from corn? Corn is a great element as it is an annually renewable resource obtained right here in the USA.

The Papermate Earth Write retractable ball point pen is such a pen as described above. But that is not even the coolest part of the this fine pen. The majority of pieces in this office supply are biodegradable. That’s right earth lovers – When you are done using this pen, simple take away the ink cartridge and any metal parts and place them in your recycle bin and toss the remaining components – - right in your backyard compost pile.

Whoa. The biodegradable pieces will break down in about 12 months.

Is this awesome or what? What a great alternative to crowding our landfills.

The Papermate Earth Write is a eco-friendly pen that makes a great stocking stuffer or gift. It’s also an excellent ice breaker. Buy them by the dozens and hand them out to friends and family, or anyone else you want when wanting to begin a dialogue about the benefits of recycling. Talk about getting your point across.

And to top it all off. This is a high quality pen that feels good in your hand when writing and looks good at home, school or at the corporate board meeting.

Purchasing recycled clothing and apparel created with eco-friendly materials and processes is a great way to give love back to good old Mother Earth.

But there are thousands of ways to adopt a greener lifestyle. Many of which are simply becoming more energy conscious around your very own home.

Keep your electric bill in check by making sure you are not letting the comfortable air inside your home escape by making sure you seal loose gaps around doors and exterior windows. Having a well insulated home will be a sure way to save energy during the extreme temperature months. The less your air conditioner or heater runs – the better for all of us.

Perform a quick inspection in your kitchen to ensure your electric appliances are in working order. Replace older ones with newer, more energy efficient models. Often times the savings you will reap will help justify the cost of the new kitchen appliances.

Speaking of the kitchen – keep the oven door closed until your food is fully cooked. Most ovens have an oven window – use this instead of opening the oven door every five minutes to see if your food is ready to eat.

The same goes for the refrigerator. Get out of the habit of standing in front of the fridge staring at your food.

Keep the oven and refrigerator closed and you will see a difference in your power bill over time.

The world is getting more and more crowded by the day – and in the United States alone, there are over 310 million people trying to live side by side, all in harmony. Simple peace and harmony is kind of hard to pull off when it is so darn crowded and there are only so many resources to go around. Not a day goes by when we are not reminded in some form of this common ecological truth.

Each year more people adopt a greener life style – or at least practice smart common sense when it comes to taking care of our planet. The more people who practice good green common sense – the better off we will be and the better off we will leave our Earth for our children and our grandchildren for generations to come.

If you have not already started living a more eco-friendly lifestyle, listed below are a few simple tips where you can help contribute to getting us on the road to green.

Wear recycled clothes. Each time you purchase a new article of clothing, you are using recourses that might have been saved or reduced if you had thought instead of selecting recycled, vintage or even remanufactured apparel. Some clothing manufactures are even coming up with practical and attractive shirts, slacks and dresses manufactured solely from recycled textiles. Also, when washing your clothes consider drying your wash outside on a clothes hanger and let the lucky old sun do the work for you. Your energy hungry dryer does not have to be abandoned – save it for rainy or cold winter days when you can’t dry outside.

Be smart about your lighting. Turn off the lights when you leave the room or simply do not need them. Switch out bulbs to high efficiency CFL (compact fluorescent light bulbs) and you can save up to $40-$50 of energy cost per each light bulb’s life.

Go paperless when it comes to your bills. Take the email billing option for all your billing payments and eliminate the junk mail and bills that clutter your mailbox. Opt out of catalog subscriptions from retailers you no longer shop with. Receiving and paying your bills online is fast, easy and saves paper and money spent on postage each year. Save a tree – Receive and pay your bills online.

Become informed when selecting household cleaning products. There are many substitute cleaning products that are more eco-friendly than the ones our parents used when we were growing up. Today, there is no need to purchase aerosol cleaning products or chemical based cleaners that are harmful to our water tables and environment. Many people have found success using everyday household ingredients for simple cleaning jobs by using such ingredients as vinegar, lemon juice, or even baking soda.

Turn the water off. Stop wasting water by letting it run when you are not using it. Never operate your dishwasher unless you have a full load – take quicker showers and for goodness sakes, turn the water off as you brush your teeth. Keeping the faucet open and running when you are not utilizing it washes huge amounts right down the drain.

As you can see, it is the little things that are very meaningful and can add up to saving money, resources and our planet. If we each take small steps and adopt a greener lifestyle we can extend the beautiful life we share on this planet.

Here is a great video that demonstrates just how far and creative recycling has come in the past few years. Using recycled materials to produce practical, comfortable and marketable clothing is not easy. But this group has found a way to create stylish t-shirts – made 100% from recycled water bottles.

Using a method called “air dye” – this manufacturing process uses dramatically less water and about 85% less energy to produce than traditional cotton t-shirts.

While empty water bottles are fully recyclable – these too, are becoming a problem in our every burgeoning landfills.

Studies indicate that over 250,000 empty water bottles are dumped in our landfills each and every hour. Some believe that water bottles make up 50% of our total recyclable waste.

Some communities are actually thinking of banning the sale of such items in their jurisdiction.

Today, recycled water bottles are finding there way in to more and more products and we will certainly see other new and creative ways to re-use this recycle friendly material.

Pilot Pen has come up with a great new innovative product called the Pilot B2P which means “Bottle to Pen”. The Pilot B2P<img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=&l=as2&o=1&a=B004I2II5A&camp=217145&creative=399373" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;"/ >is a retractable gel roller pen that is made from recycled water bottles. The pen is a pleasure to use and it has a quality look and feel about it. The barrel of the pen has blue tint about it that easily reminds others that it was produced from recycled water bottles – making this a great conversation piece.

Look for other new and exciting products made from empty water bottles in the months to come.

As the attention, emphasis and debate increase on the topic of global warming each year, so does the number of people who commit to a more eco-friendly lifestyle for themselves and their family. Regardless of how much man contributes to climate change, it just makes good sense to contribute in positive ways to make our one and only planet Earth a more livable and sustainable place for ourselves and our children, grandchildren and all future generations. Across the globe, green living is also on the rise, too as many cultures look at recycling as a necessary way to extend the lifespan of resources that are limited in other less fortunate areas.

Today, here in the US many have started small organic gardens on their property and growing their own vegetables and herbs. An organic garden does not utilize the toxic chemicals and fertilizers that traditional gardens might use to maintain the vegetation. There are many eco-friendly pesticides offered in the marketplace that use natural ingredients with out harmful aerosols. These products can effectively eliminate the amount of bugs with out the high cost to our environment. These harsh chemicals have a possibility to make their way in to our soil and perhaps even in to the water tables. Organically grown vegetables are also a way to cut down on a families food and grocery costs.

Part of green living means effectively reducing our energy use and we all know about riding bikes, carpools and mass transit as a way to reduce our costs. There are also many other effective ways to reduce our energy consumption that enthusiast can participate in. Consumers are now conscious of purchasing more biodegradable items and products that come from recycled materials and are recyclable. When a consumer purchases these types of items, the amount of energy used in manufacturing and disposal are greatly reduced – not to mention the tonnage that is eliminated from our burgeoning landfills.

Solar panels for home use are becoming more cost effecctive for single family households. There are many plug and play solar panel kits available for do it yourself-ers as well as companies that can provide you with a professional quote on a customized plan to construct solar panels so you can power your home with green energy.

Our water usage is also an indicator that we need to monitor and as we reduce our consumption. With our population growing, we are becoming more aware of this limited resource. Even if water is abundant in your area – the amount of energy used to treat and process this water for the community will be reduced if we oay attention to the amount of water we use in our daily lives.

Becoming receptive of wearing recycled clothing or jewelry and accessories made from pre-existing items is a great way to become more green. There are a lot of creative and one of a kind designs available to you at a fraction of the cost of new clothing or jewelry if you simply take a look out there in the marketplace and see what is available.

We are continuing to care more about our one and only Mother Earth as we collectively take more and more steps each day. By doing so our planet will be doing its part to replenish the materials she can and provide us with an amazingly beautiful place to exist.

There are almost 7 billion people living on this earth. Over 300 million people live in the United States alone. With these kind of numbers, one can only imagine how much garbage and junk we contribute each day to our increasingly growing number of landfills. For each ton of garbage and trash we pile on the landfills we are raising the amount of greenhouse gases that could very well be affecting our environment in an adverse way.

We need to stop producing so much needless waste and garbage. One of the most effective way to accomplish this is to become more eco-friendly and start recycling in more creative ways. By taking what could be interpreted as junk or trash and reusing it over and over in other products and ways will greatly reduces the amount of junk we pile in to our landfills.

If you are not already recycling in your own home, it is not too late to start. Many large cities today have weekly curbside pickup of your recyclable materials. If not, a call to your community’s recycling center will provide you with information of what household materials you can drop off for free. Usually these are any common items made from glass, aluminum, plastics and metals. Keep a bin in your house handy for collection and make it part of your weekly or monthly chores to drop off your materials for recycling.

Of course, used clothing will clog up our landfills. Make sure you donate your clothing to the many donation stations. Never throw used clothing away as even torn and damaged articles can be salvaged by others to create a new piece of recycled clothing.

Don’t be afraid to recycle materials yourself. Get creative and turn your trash and junk in to your own art creations. There are others that have made jewelry out of expired credit cards or t-shirt scraps, handbags out of discarded soda cans or even bird feeders out of discarded plastic computer pieces. Check online for ideas and plans to give you some ideas.

When making a trip to pick up your groceries, decline the use of their paper or plastic grocery bags. Discarded plastic shopping bags are becoming more and more of a problem in many large cities as they end up in our garbage dumps. Invest instead in several eco-friendly shopping bags that you can use over and over to haul your groceries back home. These bags come in a variety of fun colors and varieties such as string bags, canvas tote bags and even reusable produce bags for your veggies.

Have fun, get creative with your recycling and help and remind others to do the same.

Recycled Clothing clothing has suddenly become more and more important to many people across the world as our land fills become increasingly full. For years, recycled clothing or textile recycling meant reusing clotting by donating unwanted used articles of clothing to charities such as your local church or Goodwill Industries.

Later, reselling clothes in retail specialty shops that specialized only in used articles of clothing. Initially these were referred to as second hand stores but as the popularity and demand grew and changed – so did the branding. This is when the term vintage clothing came in to vogue and became acceptable as a source of fashion to the affluent young population.

Today however, recycling old clothes has become more sophisticated. Textiles are recycled in many other ways including taking scraps from shirts, slacks, dresses, draperies, towels and other useable pieces and using these as elements again as a part of the manufacturing process to create new and different pieces of clothing and accessories.

As before we are seeing the branding change a bit further as the term sustainable clothing is now working its way in to our modern vernacular.

By purchasing sustainable clothing you are helping to decrease the amount of new raw materials needed for textile manufacturing and the environmental consequence of using agro-chemicals used in growing cotton crops. You are also helping to reduce the tons of unwanted clothing that contributes to our landfills each year.

Many new fashion and household accessories are not even made from recycled cloth. As the demand grows for recycled products, some vendors have become increasingly creative with what they use to turn old in to new. Items such as rubber tires, styrofoam, plastics from discarded computers, soda cans, bottle caps, and even discarded weapons become useable fodder for creating fashionable and eco-friendly fashionable items.

Help join us in making creative use of what has already been used. Start shopping now.
