When we began this journey we got to know the movers and shakers in the Recycling bin business. One such man is George Slagle who has been doing this business for almost 20 years. I am grateful for many things George has taught and shared with us. One of the things I vividly remember him telling us was that the customers who are conscientious enough to buy recycling containers are a cut above most people in the business world. He told us that doing business with these folks was a pleasure. Well he was spot on.
We began this venture with a mission statement that included dealing only in products that added value to peoples lives and as a consequence makes the world a better place. You see, I include my granddaughters picture on our site as a constant reminder that we are in the business of improving the future.
I want to thank each and every one of our customers for being so forward looking and for trusting Chuck and I to fill your recycling container needs. I wish I had the wisdom to know the difference but I can't even come close.
A few things I do know are that the use of your recycling bins and recycling containers becomes even more important now than ever before. We know there is something going on with our environment. We know that it takes a great toll on the environment to produce STUFF and just discard it. We know that the disposal of electronics is tremendously hazardous to the ground water. Let it suffice to say that we know enough to argue that the most immediate action we can take with the greatest effect is to Recycle, Reuse and Reduce.
We here at RecyclingSupply.com try to provide the best reminders to you and your customers to take care of our future. One of the best methods for changing others behavior is to be what you hope others will become. When our children watch us using our recycling bins they know we are doing more than just talking about recycling. They also want so very much to be like the significant adults in their lives that they will emulate our behavior. The reason that a recycling bin is clearly marked it is to reinforce these behaviors. So the more obvious and more colorful our recycling containers are the better the results.

I am a firm believer in the idea that people really want to do the right thing and this extends beyond the young eyes that watch us. You can change the entire work place by becoming an example of someone who recycles.

The most important person we impact when we do the right thing is ourselves. We become more positive and hopeful about our surrounding when we take care of our environment.
Be kind to yourself and others . RECYCLE.

One way to keep these recyclables contained in a recycling bin and keep them off the floor is to use bins that have lids available to keep things from falling out. Rubbermaid recycling containers such as their Untouchables series is a excellent way to keep those materials contained in durable bins until they can be picked up by a service or moved outside to a larger recycling bin.

These Rubbermaid containers are perfect for recycling and are made with the same quality and durability as all the other Rubbermaid products that we all have in our homes and offices already. Plus the Untouchables there is a bin size for every need and a lid available to keep those recyclables contained and organized. These lids also come in various styles with slots that are designed for various materials. From lids with slots for cans, paper, or traditional swing top makes it easy to make these Rubbermaid recycling containers item specific to help sort the recyclables as they are placed in the bins.

Most people are drinking from aluminum cans and plastic bottles while they are out and having containers handy for these people to place these materials in makes more people do their part to reduce the impact we all have on the planet. We should all encourage business owners and town officials to utilize curbside recycling bins wherever they can be added to get more people recycling more materials everyday.

Outdoor recycling bins are specially designed to withstand everything that Mother Nature throws at them from wind to rain and keep the materials inside from blowing away and becoming a huge mess. These recycling bins also are ready to keep small animals out which can drag the materials around the neighborhood trying to get at any sticky sweet taste that may still be on the recyclables. Place them on busy city streets at bus stops and major corners where pedestrian traffic is heavy. Add outdoor recycling bins to outdoor fast food restaurants and to parking lots to encourage more recycling. We all need to do our part to reduce the materials we use and recycle what we can.

If you want your family recycling efforts to be as simple as possible and have everyone participate than here are a few simple steps you can take to make this happen and make recycling second nature in your home.

Use a small wastebasket in your kitchen to encourage recycling, if there is not as much space available for garbage than recyclables will make it into the correct container.
Have a well-organized recycling area in somewhere in or around your home to make recycling simple. Make sure you have Rubbermaid recycling containers for each type of material that you plan on recycling so there will be no sorting needed later.
Clean any recyclable that contained food with a quick rinse before you place it in the bin. This will help reduce the smell and the flies which can make having recyclables around extra annoying.

Making recycling a family affair that you all participate in will encourage the activity and make your efforts a success that your neighbors can emulate in their efforts to start recycling.

Luckily there are many office recycling containers available which are designed to be fully functional and take up very little space while being convenient to use so that employees actually participate in the program.

These bins are designed to handle the recyclables that an office produces lots of while taking up little if any precious floor space in the office. Many employees have extra space under their desk and there are convenient bins, which slide easily under a desk for quick paper disposal. If there is no room under the desk there are small convenient recycling bins, which hang desk side for ease of recycling, made by one of the best makers of waste and recycling bins, Rubbermaid.

If your home office or business is in need of unique recycling bin solutions to make your recycling program more successful and easier to stick to there are many office recycling containers to make this possible. Do your part to save the environment and reduce the raw materials we need to take from our planet by recycling in your office.

The best way to handle lots of aluminum cans is by crushing them so they do not take up as much space in the recycling bin as they do when they are not crushed. Of course you can always crush aluminum cans with your foot, but really this can result in small cuts and if you do this on some floors it will leave a ring on the floor that you may not want to have.

The perfect solution for the family who needs to recycle a lot of aluminum cans is the EZ can recycling system. This system has an aluminum can crusher mounted on the lid of the recycling bin, which will crush the can before it goes into the container. This will keep that can from taking up too much space and provide you with an easy to clean aluminum can storage system until you can get those recyclables picked up from your home.

For many the recycling continues, while for others the enthusiasm wanes and they end up losing interest and do not recycle much if at all. One thing that really seems to take the enthusiasm out of recycling is the potential for smell in not only the materials but also in the recycling bin.

To reduce the smell that can build up in both the materials being recycled and the recycling bin it is a good idea to rinse out the cans, bottles, and jugs before placing them in the bin for recycling. By removing the food materials you will reduce the opportunity for a smell to develop between the time the item is placed in the bin and when the collection service picks it up.

It is also very helpful to use Rubbermaid recycling containers that can be rinsed out occasionally to remove the dirt and grime that builds up whenever you are recycling. These containers are sturdy, easy to wash, and clean up with ease as all Rubbermaid products do which is why so many homes have so many of their products in them.

In the US alone 3 billion dry cell batteries are sold each year, and despite the growing popularity of rechargeable batteries the numbers are not really going down. Whether you are looking to dispose of rechargeable or non-rechargeable batteries there are lots of very harmful chemicals in them that require special handling so they do not harm our environment.

For companies it is essential that your employees have the opportunity to recycle the batteries that their gadgets use in an environmentally friendly way. This starts with having a battery recycling container available for them to place their used batteries in once they will no longer work correctly. A container made for recycling batteries will give a convenient proper place for employees to discard their batteries in a way that is not only safe for the environment but within the law on the correct disposal of these highly toxic materials. Whether your company recycles any other material, recycling batteries is an absolute necessity to keep them out of our landfills.

Many drop off stations expect you to have your materials thoroughly sorted out while some collection services expect them to be sorted while others use a commingled system of recycling.

The commingled collection services allow you to place all of your recyclables into one large recycling bin and they do all the sorting at their facility, many times with machines. For the home user this is the absolute easiest system since all you need is one recycling bin to place all of your materials in and they will do the rest.

While other collectors and many drop off stations expect you to have your materials pre-sorted and to keep them separate so no sorting is needed later on. Of course not all of them separate their recyclables the same, so it is best to find out exactly how the sorting is done with the collector you plan on using. This way you can get Rubbermaid recycling containers and set up your recyclables exactly as they are required to be sorted and place them in the correct bin throughout the week.

If you are in charge of a recycling program at work or in an office it is important to understand that a recycling program will not be successful if the people do not participate. So just how do you get everyone to place his or her materials that can be recycled in the recycling so your program is a success?

The key to a successful recycling program in your office or workplace is making it easy for everyone who is in the company. Placement of recycling bins is a key to helping it be easy, since nobody wants to take the time to look for a bin to place their materials in. Place the proper plastic and aluminum recycling bins in the break room where employees have their beverages. Get desktop recycling bins for those who need to recycle lots of paper so the proper bin is literally at their fingertips. There is plenty of office recycling containers available to make recycling easy in the office so that your program is a successful one in which everyone participates.

When most people think of recycling paper in the office or at home they feel they are saving trees. To some degree this is true as it will mean less trees will be needed to make more paper since they can reuse the pulp from the recycled paper. Of course paper pulp can only be recycled a few times before it begins to degrade too much to be continually made into more materials. Paper manufacturers know this and continually plant more trees to replace those they use.

The real benefit of recycling paper is the benefits it will have on the landfills. By recycling paper in office recycling containers you reduce what goes into the landfills. This will extend the time a single landfill can be used since they will not fill up as fast with this paper. This in turn will also reduce the methane gas which is emitted by the landfill as it breaks down the materials which are inside it which is better for the environment as well.

We should all take the time to encourage our cities and towns to install more outdoor recycling containers to areas of heavy pedestrian use to give an option to those who would rather throw that soda can into a recycling bin as opposed to the garbage. Of course placing bins around a town can be an expensive proposition, but in the long run it will help the members of the community feel a higher sense of pride in where they live knowing steps are being taken to do the right thing.

Of course for medium to large towns placing a outdoor recycling bin on every corner would be too expensive. But placing bins in strategic locations will go a long way to improving the city as well as saving the planet. Obvious locations for containers would be parks, by bus stops, subways, and downtown areas. By placing bins close to where people spend free time and commute time the town can not only help save raw materials for a better planet, but also build up a proud proactive community.

Recycling is not a big business for those that collect the materials and none of them have the available funds to pay someone to re-sort the recyclables to remove the garbage. Of course everyone should take one minute to ensure they are disposing of their garbage and recyclables into the proper containers so that the recycling efforts of everyone do not go to waste.

If you are in charge of your business or community recycling program there are steps you can take to help everyone avoid confusion so that recyclables and garbage end up in the proper bins and containers. For each type of recycling you collect have a Rubbermaid recycling container for each one. Then get the proper recycling decals to label each container for exactly what belongs in each one. By making it clear what goes into each recycling container whether it is glass, aluminum, or paper this will make it easy for everyone in your organization to get the recyclables into the proper containers and not contaminate the barrels with items that do not belong in them.

Fast forward a few years and everyone seems to know that they need to recycle, and they do when it is convenient, but for many the passion is not there anymore. On the other hand it seems more products are coming in more packaging create more items, which need recycling, but they do not always get there. A great example is water, back then we drank water from a glass bottled water was not something everyone did, and now we fill landfills with these plastic bottles which could be recycled, or even not used in the first place.
We need to get back to why we recycle in the first place and try to make an effort to use less packaging and reduce the carbon footprint that we place on this planet so that we can leave the Earth to our children in a state where the resources are renewing not depleting.

Many apartment managers complain that tenants do not always place their garbage in trashcans and when they recycle they mix the different materials and do not sort them out. Traditional recycling bins are just tubs and it can get confusing which material is supposed to go into which bin.

An easy way to get a handle on recycling for a large number of people like this is to get the proper containers to help sort out those recyclables. There are many companies making durable sorting recycling stations. These outdoor recycling containers are all in one units, which has separate slots for each material that can be recycled. To help avoid confusion each hole is formed to show what is supposed to be deposited into that particular bin on the station. Each bin in the station has its own container that is easily removable from the cabinet to be emptied by the collector of recycling for the facility. If recycling is easy and convenient not just for the tenants but for the apartment manager as well, the recycling program will be much more successful.

So much oil is involved with the production of plastic drinking bottles that by recycling one ton of these bottles will save just under four barrels of oil. Of course four barrels does not sound like a lot, but when you consider that that 2.7 million tons of these bottles are made and used every year that turns into a lot of barrels of oil. This is just the numbers on recycling water bottles.

Aluminum cans are also a oil consuming packaging that we can save lots of oil by simply taking the time to recycle the empty containers instead of letting them end up in the landfill. Five years ago 54 billion cans were recycled and this saved enough oil to cover the oil consumption for one day in the United States. But this is less than half of the cans, which are used in a year, and aluminum is one of the easiest materials to recycle. Every home should have an aluminum can crusher and recycling bin to collect the cans in which they use throughout a day. Even if you do not want to have a full recycling program, just making sure your bottles and cans do not go to the landfill will do a major part.

One such business is a real estate office with all the brochures, pamphlets, and contracts that they deal with on a daily basis. Of course many of these offices have a recycling program and work to keep all this paper from ending up in our landfills. Though the legal contracts and other sensitive documents are a little tricky for these offices do to the private information that is on them. For these situations there are office recycling containers that are made to keep these documents secure and still get recycled correctly.

One great solution for all of us who use lots of electronics is to get rechargeable batteries for our gadgets. This will reduce the quantity of batteries that we will need to dispose of. Then when you do need to dispose of any batteries make sure you place them in the proper battery recycling containers so they do not end up harming our planet by being inappropriately disposed of.

This creates almost 20 million tons of paper most of which ends up thrown into the wastebasket after only one person browses through the pages. This is a amazing amount of garbage when the material is so easy to recycle to reduce the carbon footprint we all have on the planet. We should all take the effort to ensure that every daily paper makes its way into a newspaper recycling bin so that the paper can be reused in future paper products instead of just taking up more space in the landfill that is already getting too full.

There are steps we can all take to produce less waste in our everyday lives and reduce the demands we place on the planet. When you shop look for products with less packaging. Not only will you reduce waste, many times these are less expensive as well. Also instead of drinking from pre-packaged bottle water use a reusable container to carry water with you throughout the day. Reduce your packaging and this will reduce the amount of recycling we all need to do.

These recycled products may cost a little more than the other items at the store, but it is better to keep your recycling bin full of materials that are continually being reused for maximum use of our natural resources.

There are great ways you can get your child and his or her organization involved with a recycling program that will not only be a great group activity, but also a big benefit to the planet we all live on. Just by simply collecting water bottles, soda cans, and newspapers a group of children can keep thousands of pounds of recyclables from ending up in the landfill.

With a few simple Rubbermaid recycling containers to collect these items a group of kids can do more than many think to create an impact on not only recycling but also how the community view the next generation.
