This one is a little more complicated. Due to injury, Bison can no longer play the scheduled July 23rd gig- but they have already rescheduled for December 10. Congress, Baptists and Metal Cult (psych night) are STILL playing on the 23rd and all ticketholders are welcome to come to the original night- you keep your ticket and it will still be valid for Bison on December 10, so you get 2 shows for one! Otherwise you can get refunds at point of purchase. Kapiche?

New Releases!

The Pack A.D. – We Kill Computers CD & LP
-New release from this local garage blues touring machine!

Jonas Reinhardt – Powers Of Audition CD & LP
-Space Rock from Trans am guitarist and friends, amazing record

Destroyer – Streethawk CD & LP (remastered editions)
-Remastered and back in print, A Bejar classic!

Strange Boys – Be Brave CD & LP
-fantastic followup to last year’s pysch-rock garage release

Caribou – Swim CD & 2LP
- Electronic music heading toward a more organic state can be seen perfected in Animal Collective’s “Merriweather Post Pavilion.” So when Mr Snaith takes his project to a more liquid sounding direction he goes the way of avant garde disco artist Arthur Russell. Mixing a perfect blend of the chilled out electonic atmosphere on the recent Four Tet record and the song craft of Caribou’s Polaris winning record “Andorra” making this release a dynamic auditory experience with resonant beats that swim from speaker to speaker.

Tunng – And Then We Saw Land CD & LP
- Gorgeous and subtle recording, full of rich melodies.

Plants And Animals – La La Land Cd & LP
- hope you caught them at The Commodore, excellent sophomore release from this Montreal ensemble.

Apollo Ghosts – Mount Benson LP with download
-on the cover of this month’s Discorder (with good reason to be! catch one of their fantastic live performances!)

Moon Duo – Escape CD & LP
- A staff fave, Wooden Shjips side project, distorted & reverbed out vocals, heavy psych guitar workouts & relentless drum machine with spooky organ, turn it up!

Frog Eyes – Paul’s Tomb – A Triumph
- Swelling sounds, quiet passages, gorgeous musical companion to a Krull wedding.

Dillinger Escape Plan – Option Paralysis CD & LP
- bring your helmet! – vinyl comes with a die-cut ltd editon cover, you got to be in good shape to keep up with these guys!

Velvet Underground Live 1969 Vol 1 (Ltd white vinyl) LP
- finally here, much sought after Record Store Day Copies

Velvet Underground Live 1969 Vol 2 LP
- there are two volumes!

New Pornographers – Together CD & LP
- moving towards full blown orchestral pop from release to release, all the gang is here for this new offering.

Broken Social Scene – Forgiveness Rock Record CD & LP
- new release after a long break of solo recordings. They have returned from their walk-about to become a tighter more cohesive unit. Best New Music of the week on Pitchfork.com

Liars – Sisterworld CD & LP (Ltd 2 LP & 2 cds inside)
- scrappy and letting the buzz shine with pride, another very solid effort from The Liars. Very deluxe vinyl package!

Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings – I Learned The Hard Way CD & LP
- Full of class and excellent musicianship, this is an essential record for everyone!

Flaming Lips – Dark Side Of The Moon CD & LP
-Henry Rollins starts it all off, lot’s of guests, true and respectful to the original with just enough quirkiness from the Flaming Lips so that you don’t get mad at them. More LPS Just in!

MGMT – Congratulations Limited edition LP & CD
-This is a really good pop record. Sharing production duties with the sonic boom of Spacemen 3, evoking a visual experince with a multitude of subtle textures and references that are revealed with every listen. Imagine a ceremony type atmosphere in a large L.A. mansion where two ghosts possess the memebers of the band, reclaiming their late 60’s pop glory. Lots of gold and orange red plus new guitar pedals and expensive computer recording programs. Exchanging the synthesized boogie shaking sounds for the warmth of organs. – ES

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Beat The Devil’s Tattoo CD & LP
- A little bit more polished than earlier records, but does that come with experience? The songs are strong and the record sounds good, sounds like a good match to me.

Jesus And Mary Chain – Darklands LP
Three words – buy this record! .. it’s finally back in print and the pressing sounds magnificent!

Modest Mouse – Moon & The Antartica 10th anniversary LP
- more copies finally back in stock, essential catalog from this band.

The Endtables – S/T CD & LP
- All of their work compiled, and some live tracks from an old bootleg, classic scrappy, sloppy punk rock from this Kentucky quartet .

V/A – Cold Waves + Minimal Electronics CD & LP
- Rare cold war-esque synth pop from the underground, featuring rare tracks from Neon Judgement, Land Of Giants, Nine Circles & many more

R.E.M. – Chronic Town (ltd edition blue vinyl) LP
- First release from R.E.M., some more limited edition copies have arrived post record store day.

Woods – At Echo Lake CD & LP
-another staff pick this week, Catchy melodic folk songs drenched in reverb & low-fi goodness.

Brasstronaut – Mount Chimaera CD & LP
- new release from these local’s back from tour for a sold out Vancouver show at the St. James Hall!

Local Natives – Gorilla Manor CD & LP
- a round-up of the current sounds and harmonies of indie-rock with a twist of their own thrown in. A strong debut, it will be interesting to see where they go musically over the next few releases.

Range Rats – S/T LP
- featuring members of The Rats, new Mississippi Records release.

Eddy Detroit – Immortal Gods LP
- Recorded in 1982, finally available again, first recording from this Phoenix AZ undground legend, featuring members of the Sun City Girls.

Fanajana – Collections Of Recordings And Photos From Madagasikara (New Mississippi Records Release ) LP + Book
Over a three year period in the late 1990s, Charlie Brooks embarked on two long field recording trips in Madagasikara. Brooks primarily concentrated on the more remote north and west regions of the island. Upon his return in 1999 he pressed 200 copies of a triple record and stored them under his bed for the last ten years. The three themed Lps: Vocal, Valiha Marovany and Miscellaneous Instruments were released as the now out of print MR-061 Fihavanana. This single lp collection compiles seventeen tracks from Fihavanana. Comes with a twelve page booklet of photography and notes.

Autechre – Oversteps LP Box Set & CD
- a masterpiece! a more forgiving listen than other Autechre efforts with just enough noise and tone to keep it extremely interesting.

Lali Puna – Our Inventions CD & LP
- sister band to the Notwist, long awaiting followup to Faking The Books.

Dum Dum Girls – I Will Be CD & LP
- 60’s surf style vocals with drum machine, Three chord Pet Sounds thru the fuzz pedal, this reminds me, we also have the new Best Coast 7 inch in stock.

V/A Deutsche Elekronische Musik Vol 1 & 2
- New Soul Jazz release, some nice rare tracks compiled here, dive into the 1972-83 period of german rock and electronic music.

Subhumans – Same Thoughts, Different Day CD & LP
- re-recording of the punk classic “Incorrect Thoughts”

Defektors – 14 LP
After a hot run of 7 inches and recently gracing the cover of Beatroute magazine, full length underground punk offering from these Emergency Room locals, comes with download coupon.

National – Bloodbuzz Ohio 7 inch LP
- First single from the forthcoming record “High Violet” due out later this month.

Stooges – Raw Power Legacy Edition 2cd set
- The Bowie Mixes! The Bowie Mixes! and bonus live tracks!

Also :
Mike Patton – Mondo Cane CD
Hold Steady – Heaven Is Forever CD (LP Incoming)
Minus The Bear – Omni CD

New Local Releases :

Vincent Parker: Prism Myst CDR
- The making of electronic music can be a very sweatless creation. Rock musicians pummel away for hours in sweaty basements losing hearing. Vincent keeps it real with a variety of dance inducing tones with a set up that induces live off the floor mixes through dual “kaoss” pads.
