Celestial Animals

These are the animals associated with the four cardinal directions and the four greatest aspirations of health and family (dragon/man), career and money (tortoise), success and good family name (phoenix), and protection (tiger/woman).

Dragon – Everyone knows this is the prime animal of China and feng shui. It’s associated with prestige, success and strength. It’s also a powerful animal of rejuvenation. This was once the symbol representing the male energy. Display in the east.

Phoenix – The mythical bird represents success and opportunity, virtue, compassion and responsibility. The phoenix is the perfect symbol for reinvention, as it is the symbol of rising from the ashes.  To activate, place the symbol in the south corner of the house or place a small rounded stone in the south corner of the garden.

Tiger – The tiger represents the yin energy and with protection, courage, and strength. It is located in the west, or right side of the door as you look out. This is a symbol that should be used cautiously, if at all, and if so, only out doors to protect the residents of the house. A good substitute for protection is leopard or tiger striped fabrics or upholstery as this evokes protection without becoming overwhelming.

Protective Animals

Rhinoceros – The rhino was once native to China and is now extinct there. Its horn was a symbol of scholarly luck and good character. They are now most commonly displayed as a protection against robbery, backstabbing or illicit behavior.

Lions – Stone lions have long been used as guardians for temples and graves.  The lion is also used in the lion dance with coins thrown to appease it.

Fu Dogs – Looking very much like a lion, fu dogs are typically guardians in front of homes or businesses and are meant to intimidate negative energies and keep malevolent forces from entering the house. They’re often shown as a pair, male and female, the male playing with a ball and the female with her foot on a pup.

Elephant – The elephant is both a protective animal, and also a wish-granting and holy animal. The elephant often stands guard at entrances to protect the inhabitants, displayed in the bedroom of a woman wishing for children, it is believed will promote the conception of a male child. The elephant is a symbol of strength and good fortune and the ability to grant wishes. White elephants are especially auspicious and bring great luck.

Chi Lin – The chi lin are often called Chinese Unicorns. They have the same cosmic breath as the dragon and bring good fortune to those who display them. It is a happy creature and is often displayed by childless couples as legend has it that chi lin bring children, displayed at work for a happy workplace, and brings advancement and promotions at work, especially among police and military. The chi lin also brings scholastic luck and luck to children.

Wealth Bringing Animals

Deer – The name deer in Chinese sounds like the word for wealth and prosperous income. It is a symbol of long life and having a deer figure means long, prosperous life. Business people should display images of deer for this reason. A good gift for a working person or someone starting out in their career.

Dragon Tortoise – Like its cousin, the tortoise, the dragon tortoise is a favorite of business and career minded people.  It represents wonderful good fortune, income, and prosperity. It combines the strength of a dragon and the protectiveness of the tortoise.  It’s best to place this symbol in the east or behind you at work.

Frogs and Wealth Toads – Always knowing where the water is (wealth), the frog is the quintessential wealth animal in feng shui. Display on a table looking toward the door.

Horses – Horses, and specifically, tribute horses, were given laden with gifts and offerings from the competitor beaten in battle, and signifies beating the competition and reaping the rewards. It’s a symbol of rising in wealth, prestige and promotion.

Moongoose or Rat – Often shown spouting jewels, the mongoose and rat are associated with wealth and ability to bring good luck and overcoming bad luck and misfortune and can turn around luck from offending the Grand Duke Jupiter.

Wishfulfilling Cow – Cows bring riches and can bestow good luck. An image of a cow or bull brings good luck to the family and grants wishes.

Pi Yao – Reputed to only eat gold and never excrete it, the pi yao helps to amass wealth, such as savings, investments and stocks. The son of a dragon, the pi yao protects money and brings good luck for accumulating money.

But metal is a wonderful element that when activated properly can bring patronage luck – the “who you know” kind of energy that separates truly successful people from those with just average success – heaven energy and power, and the all-important water of wealth.

Use Chinese coins or metal objects to stimulate prosperity energy.

Let’s take a look at the element of metal.

We know from basic grade-school science that metal is a conductor. It conducts energy like electricity and is used to promote the generation of water in feng shui, which in feng shui is shorthand word for wealth and prosperity. Its shape in feng shui is either the arch or circle – both have lots of movement.

Just think of a coin’s round shape and how they are spent and move through circulation, or even a wheel.  The arches of aqueducts transported water.

Tapping auspicious metal chi will put metal’s conductive properties to work for you to move what’s stuck in your life, attract heaven energy to you, bring people to your aid, and open the gates to the luck of personal favor. Adding metal in the right locations will stimulate windfall luck and business opportunity.

Tap the 1 Star.
The 1 Star in feng shui is the star of business opportunity – and the money associated with it. In short, it’s the “generating money” star. Paying it special attention by adding metal wherever it’s located will stimulate the 1 Star by making it produce water (read: money) for you. Add metal windchimes, coin trees, and metal bowls wherever the 1 Star is found. In 2012, the 1 Star is in the south. Because it’s the star of opportunity and career, ringing a bell in this sector can stimulate more business!

Stimulate the 6 Star.

The new black is white.
White is also the color of metal. It is a prestige color. Just think of all the homes with white sofas, white fluffy rugs and sleek Persian cats. Women who wear white are usually very fashionable and attract a lot of attention. White evokes elegance and any color paired with it instantly looks more beautiful. White is a power color especially when paired with striking gold jewelry. Wearing white will attract more help and you will move faster through the day because white is a yang color.

Get unstuck with metal.
One of the most difficult medical problems is poor circulation. When circulation is poor, health declines. That’s true in feng shui, too. To create more wealth and prestige “circulation” use Chinese coins to start movement again. A perfect example is to put three tied Chinese coins in your wallet, checkbook, and bank account books or files.

Attract heaven luck.
The northwest is the sector of the father, patriarch, and it’s also the sector of heaven – and the heaven men who can help you get ahead. These are the power-brokers that can make or break careers, make helpful introductions, and help you widen your circle of contacts. It’s a prestige position and it benefits by the addition of the Chien trigram. The Chien trigram is made of three solid unbroken lines stacked on top of one another. Display this symbol in the northwest or wherever the 6 Star is located.

Use Chinese coins.
Adding coins under carpets at the entrance to your home helps move prosperity chi into the house. Put the coins in a line of six or eight in an arrow shape. You can use the coins just about anywhere! I even have a Chinese coin hanger that I put on my jump drives for my laptop to make my work more auspicious and generate more money.

Carry amulets and protectors.
Amulets are a wonderful way to carry heaven energy anywhere you go. Placed in a purse or pocket, metallic wealth amulets can be carried to attract prosperity energy. These are especially beneficial for anyone who works in the sector of the 1 or 6 Star or whose home faces the direction where the 1 or 6 Star is located.

Carry them in your pocket when you negotiate a mortgage — or a raise! Amulets can be protective too. A good example is a blessing amulet that protects against nasty gossip or negative feelings. Metal amulets are the best conductors of energy – especially for money and protection.

This “seat of power” and the ability to create is uniquely tied to feng shui. What’s especially interesting about sex and money in feng shui is that the wealth sector is also associated with the number four.

Four is the number associated with romance and sex, academic achievement, sales, and writing. So, you could say that the number four is

associated with creation and generation, too.

The problem with sex is that as you age, sexual activity lessens and not just because of lack of interest, although that certainly does happen, but because fatigue, work, stress, child-rearing and household duties get in the way.

Feng shui teaches that energy flows where energy goes. A German study confirms this. In a study of 32,000 couples, many who stopped having sex reported that the trend of little or no sex only became worse. In other words, less sex leads to even less or no sex.

Sex is good — and we need it

Making love makes us happy and content, relieves physical tension in all parts of the body (not just you-know-where) and is an important part of a committed relationship.

Think about making love with your partner and think about how it feels to have a wad cash. Both make you smile. See the link? Interestingly, some of the times that I have been the most cash-strapped I also had less love, and when the money was good so was the canoodling.

But is all sex good? No.

The committed, loving type is what we’re after. This is the basis of good feng shui and good love – and is where the money-making potential resides. Promiscuity never makes you feel better, and it usually makes you feel worse.

What if you’re lacking a partner? Rather than going trolling in a trench coat to bars and taking the walk of shame in the morning that makes you feel terrible (and takes your money-making energy with it), make a romantic date with yourself. (No, not that way, but hey, if you wanna, I won’t judge you).

Instead, treat yourself to some luxurious lingerie, nice sheets, scented candle, read a romance novel or watch a romantic move with some wine. Just… treat yourself nice. You’ll love yourself for it. In short, be a romantic person no matter whether you are single or in a relationship.

If you do have a partner and your love life needs a jump start, follow this checklist to improve your love life and start the creative flow in the bedroom — and in your pocketbook!

___Schedule sex each week. That’s right, put it on the calendar. Rather than lacking spontaneity, scheduling intimate time together means that your love (and your cash) is important. Honor your creative and generating abilities – and your partnership – by making time for sex and romance.

___Have fun. Try a game, go “parking” in the garage, do a strip-tease. Don’t do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, but don’t hide under the covers either! Fun is good feng shui.

___Seek sensuality. Being sensual and romantic is extremely beneficial for a relationship rather than cheap, nasty, and wham-bam (well, unless that’s what you need). Get some great-feeling new sheets for your bed. Buy a soft and nubby throw for the bed or maybe one of those awesome fur throws. Get your skin used to being feeling wonderful textures. Get a body polish (my favorite!) at your local spa and a massage afterwards. Your skin will feel like silk – to you and to your honey.

___Get hormones. OK, girls: let’s face it, the angry, witchy wife is nobody’s friend and will scare off even the most hard-up husband. If you would rather clean your toenails than have sex, something is wrong. Get to your GYN and get some hormones or some help — you don’t have to retire to a convent because your libido is low.

___Hold your horses. OK, guys: let’s face it, you’re always ready no matter what. Well, we aren’t. If you’re a guy and you’re reading this, I’m going to tell you what your sweetie won’t. No woman likes to show interest and then you go from 0 to 120 MPH in an instant. Slow down, talk to her, touch her and then see what happens.

___Make a date for no sex. Sounds boring, right? Well, make a date for the bedroom and do anything but have sex. I guarantee you won’t be able to keep your hands off each other. Works like a charm and gets everybody fired up.

Revitalizing love with feng shui

___Remove pictures of everyone except the couple in the room – especially the kids.
___Remove all work objects (computers, phones, piles of paper)
___Make sure your bed is up to the task and doesn’t squeak, creak, or feel like it will break with a little activity
___Place a happy photo of the two of you in the bedroom
___Get rid of any and all plants or flowers – these kill romance
___Have two bedside tables with matching lamps. You need bedroom parity for both partners.

Feng shui is the Chinese art of determining the most propitious design of a room or building (and the placement of objects within) so that maximum harmony is achieved between the environment and the user. The term comes from the Chinese words “feng” (wind) and “shui” (water).

A driving principle of feng shui is that there are eight pillars of happiness, including love and romance. 

There is a discrepancy between feng shui fact and fiction, however. Not everything considered feng shui is suited for the bedroom, nor will it necessarily inspire romance.

Match-up debate

Designers are split over the matching nightstand issue. Some say bedside tables should be different and not look uniform. Others say matched nightstands create balance in the room. Feng shui experts fall on the side of matching nightstands. Symbolically, this look says a couple is bonded, and matching nightstands create a sentry effect that plays to the bed — and the relationship — making a visual statement that both are important and primary in the room.

Feng shui effects

Another critical disagreement relates to what constitutes feng shui. Some say water fountains, wind chimes and plants create great chi (energy), but not in the bedroom. In the Chinese view, water is money and hearing water running while you’re in bed is listening to money drain away. In this view, plants are also a strain on relationships and should not be placed in a bedroom. While these accents might make for a delightful room, the primary importance of a couple’s bedroom is rest and romance, and these elements sap both.

What to do?

If you’re interested in using feng shui to revive romance or to keep the flames burning, keep in mind that the main purposes of a bedroom are sleeping and creating intimacy in the your relationship. With that in mind, it’s important to remove all work-related objects, such as treadmills, computers, or desks. Clear out all photos except for images of yourselves. Mirrors should be removed because they’re stimulating and can cause sleep disruption and insomnia.

Another source of concern is the television. While it’s not advisable to have a TV in the bedroom, the newer flat screen versions are better than older, tube-style sets, say feng shui experts. Older TVs have shiny glass screens that reflect the bedroom when the set is off, acting much like a mirror. Flat screens, with their matte black appearance, are less stimulating.

And like TV, everything in the bedroom room exerts an influence on us during sleep, when we’re most vulnerable. For that reason, under the principles of feng shui, it’s important to choose artwork and symbols carefully. Flowers should be avoided because they deplete a man’s yang energy, cooling off passion. If romance has faded, select artwork that features pairs, especially pairs of birds or butterflies, the Chinese symbol of renewed love. Color also exerts an influence. Selecting colors that are skin-toned, such as beige, pink, tan or brown will keep the interest going for physical touch.

Make sure your bed is sound and the mattress comfortable; a broken down mattress can create a stale love life, as can going without a headboard. In feng shui, making sure the bedroom promotes love and rest helps couples see that they have both.

If you talk to a scientist, you’ll hear that meeting someone is just a matter of numbers.  If you can raise your exposure to a greater number of potential candidates, then you raise the likelihood of cupid’s arrow hitting the mark. Well, most single people I know are surrounded by thousands of people everyday at the grocery store, at the office, in airports, at the gym, etc., etc., but they haven’t met the person that pulls their heartstrings. 

Maybe you have tried singles mixers, speed dating at the local sports pub, or even resorted to having your friends set you up with eligible singles. And what if all that turns up zero?  Then maybe it’s time to see if your house, your office, or your business could be undermining your efforts to gain a suitable partner in love.  

So, what exactly are the key elements for singles to look for when determining if the energy of their space is killing their romantic prospects?  You are about to find out.  Now, get ready to make a serious assessment of your space to open your life to a new love!

1.  Is a “man” or a “woman” missing in your life?

You could be without a special someone because you are missing a NW or SW corner in your home! Every space must have a NW and a SW corner.  These are the cornerstones of a space, and in feng shui thought, the two most important sectors.  The NW corresponds to a man and the SW corresponds to a woman.  So, if you are a single woman, you need to activate your NW sector, or a single man, the SW sector.  By the same token, both single men and women need to activate the SW sector because it is also the sector of marriage, romance, and relationships.If your NW or SW corners of your house are missing, or you have a toilet, kitchen, storeroom, etc., then you begin to see what the problem is.  How do you correct this?  If you are extremely serious about finding someone, then moving might be an option.  However, less drastic measures are also available.  Use these tips to guide you.

•If the NW or SW corner is missing: Place a mirror on the wall where the NW corner should be so that it visually expands.  Outside, where the missing corner is, try to delineate this space with a light pole, a heavy rock or object, or create a fenced area or garden to put back this missing area.

•If the NW/SW corner has a toilet:  Make sure this room has a mirror in it.  Keep the door closed.  You can also try the following remedies of placing a heavy rock in the NW toilet, and candles and red objects in the SW toilet.  

•If the NW/SW has a kitchen:  In the NW, this is a very bad placement.  Kitchens in the NW are not good.  You can try to add stones here, such as geodes, or whatever stones strike your fancy.  You can also paint this room a beige color.  This will help strengthen the NW energy with the earth element of the beige color. Avoid water or fire elements in the NW kitchen as these hurt the precious NW energy.  In the SW, add pairs of objects here, such as setting a place for two at the table, even if there is only one dining!  You can also had a stone object here or paint the kitchen beige to add more “earth” energy.

2.  Tap your personal marriage and romance direction.

Orient the bed or sleep with your head pointing in your marriage and family direction based on your kua number.  Move your desk to face this direction (although, you should make sure you do not ever have your back to the door).  Eat facing this direction, and enter doors from this direction.

Here are the orientations for both men and women:

Besides using the doors according to your kua number, sitting, eating, and sleeping, you will also want to energize the corresponding areas in your living room.

3.  Fake it until you make it.

Make your bedroom appear as if a couple lived in it.  So be sure to decorate it in a gender-neutral manner (no fussy flowers and pastels or severely masculine rooms).  Make sure there are pairs of lamps (one on either side of the bed), and pairs of objects in the bedroom.

Put lots of romantic images in here!  Display pictures or figurines that say romance to you.  Pictures of couples kissing, holding hands, anything to “inspire” your loving feelings.  

Some people intentionally remove any pictures of romance because they don’t want to be reminded that they are lonely.  Wrong.  You need to be reminded and inspired because it will work to activate you more to seek out a new partner.

4.  Activate the “man” and “woman” in your space.

You should activate your home, your bedroom, your garden, your desk, and your office, and any other space you occupy to increase the influence of the NW and SW energies.

FOR WOMEN ONLY:

To activate the “MAN” area (NW) in your space:

Desk:  Put a phone or fax here, add a radio, or put the computer on this corner of your desk, place a picture of a handsome man here, or add a moving metal sculpture; (metal pendulum clocks are great).

Home/Living Room:  Put your television or stereo in the NW sector (unless it is the bedroom).  Or, you can put manly objects in this area if it is your bedroom.  Objects such as books a man might read (or your ideal man would read!), the sports page, or a picture of a handsome man (or men? Chippendale’s calendar, maybe?) in this location is good.  

Bedroom:  A CD player with romantic music that you listen to nightly would be wonderful in a NW corner of the bedroom.

Yard: Place a shepherd’s hook here and hang a windchime on it.  Anything metal would be excellent here.  

Office:  Gold windchime with a fan gently blowing to make it tinkle softly.  This is also a good idea in the living room.

FOR WOMEN AND MEN:

Remember, both women and men want to activate the SW corner of their homes, bedrooms, living rooms, offices, and desks!  That’s because the SW corresponds to romance, marriage — and women.

To activate the “WOMAN” and “ROMANCE” area (SW) in your space try these ideas:

Desk:  Place a beautiful stone (such as rose quartz) or a beautiful vase in the SW corner of your desk.  You can make a copy of the double happiness symbol and place it on this corner; it’s believed to make married men out of confirmed bachelors.  

Add red items in this location, crystal objects (a crystal pendulum clock would be wonderful here!), or red crystal paperweight is also a perfect addition.  You will also want to place a copy of the “Double Happiness” symbol here.

Home/Living Room:  Make sure the SW sectors of your home and living room have love objects appropriate to the SW corner. This can be a terracotta or porcelain vase, candles, picture of a mountain, such as Ayers Rock, would be especially auspicious.  

Bedroom: A CD player with romantic music that you listen to nightly would be wonderful in a SW corner of the bedroom.  Place a lamp in this corner and make sure it stays on at least 3 hours a day.  Better still, keep it on the entire day while you are out!

Yard:  Place a large boulder or group of boulders here.  Or, place a cement bench in this location.  You may also wish to put a statue of a couple in this location, or plant some red or pink flowers here.

Office: Add a picture here of a mountain (provided it is not directly in front of you), or some other romantic scene that is tasteful.  A lamp in this location is also a good idea.

5.  Eliminate the old to bring in the new.

If you have pictures of old boyfriends and girlfriends hanging around, then they’re still there!  Get rid of the pictures and mementos.  Make sure that you have new sheets, too, to sleep on.

Old energy can linger in the bed as well.  One single woman I knew (she was divorced) had pictures of her ex everywhere and wondered why her love life was poor.  What man wants to compete with a former boyfriend – or worse, an ex-husband.

6.  Employ some “magic.”

Some feng shui stems from Chinese folklore and superstition.  But if it helps you draw Mr. or Ms. Right, who cares, right?

•  Rainbows for love. Hang a crystal in the SW windows.  Then, let the sun’s rays shine on the crystal to create rainbows in the SW sector of your house for extra romantic energy in your space.

•  Use a magic box. This is said to draw a spouse to you. Purchase a silver box, either round or square shaped.  Write your deepest desires for a spouse on a piece of paper.  Place this box in the SW or NW corner of the house, in a cupboard or out of sight.  A square box should be placed in the SW and a round box in the NW.  

In China, the color red has many meanings, but the first is happiness. The bride in a wedding ceremony has always traditionally worn a red veil that was only lifted once the bride and groom were at the ceremony, never seeing each other until the wedding. That tradition continues today even though modern brides now know their intended before the ceremony.

The element of fire has been associated with the phoenix and is associated with both of fire’s destructive and life-giving and cleansing properties. The phoenix is the bird that promised success and longevity.

When a friend lets you down, the feeling of shock and disappointment can be hard to bounce back from. Even the green-eyed monster of jealousy can make you feel vulnerable and disillusioned.

In many countries the envy and jealousy of another is called the “evil eye.” This type of attention is believed to draw energy from you and to encircle you with negative energy that can cause you loss.

The dragon is a mythical and much beloved symbol in China. The powerful dragon can be seen adorning everything from walls and sculptures to chopsticks and fabrics. A dragon is one of the earliest symbols of male, yang, energy and fertility.

The friendly dragon

Unlike the fearsome creatures of western literature, Chinesedragons are endearing and good-natured rather than ferocious or threatening. They’re also a symbol of great power and were often used to symbolically represent the emperors.

With the dragon sitting at the east in the zodiac wheel, it is associated with sunrise, the period between spring and summer when rains are most abundant and with growth, fertility and growth.

Yin and yang

The dragon is many times portrayed chasing the cosmic pearl. This pearl represents the feminine and thunder, which brings rains. Dragons are beautiful symbols of new growth, vitality, and are believed to bring strong regenerative powers. Although the earliest symbol of dragons were shown with the white tiger of the west, which represented yin, or female energy, the dragon is typically shown with a phoenix to represent masculine and feminine energies, or the conjugal state.

Dragon family members

The dragon also has a wide family circle. In addition to the standard dragon, there are also dragon tortoises (a favorite of businessmen and those who like making money!), a hybrid of the dragon and tortoise. This animal possesses all the strengths of the dragon and represents imminent news regarding career and business. They are often portrayed with a baby on their backs to represent descendant’s luck. Place behind you at work for great support or in the east, but not directly in front of you.

The pi yao is another dragon family member. As the ninth son of a dragon, this fearsome creature possesses the strength of the Asian dragons and the ferociousness of the western dragon. The Pi Yao is a protective heavenly creature. He is often mistaken for a fu dog or chi lin, but he has a specific role in Chinese symbolism and feng shui.

With his single horn, lion face, wings and tail, the pi yao is designed to protect wealth. This makes him a favorite symbol of businessmen and merchants. The pi yao also subdues the Grand Duke and should be positioned to face him. To protect wealth, the pi yao swallows wealth and never expels it, thus he is the protector of accumulated wealth and brings windfall luck, driving away evil and protecting the home and its owner.

The number nine and dragons?

Yes, dragons are represented by the ultimate power of 3, which is 3 squared, or shown as multiplication 3×3=9. There are many types of dragons and are often represented with the number 9, a symbol of male vigor and fertility. Longans, a type of pinkish-red fruit, are said to be a dragon’s eyes. The term in Chinese for dragon is long. A section of Hong Kong, called Kowloon, means town of the nine dragons. Each of the nine dragons brings a different type of energy and luck.

Empowering your home

In feng shui, it’s important to include the dragon as part of your observance. Displaying a dragon, especially in the east, will energize the house and the family, bringing strength and vitality to everyone who resides there. The dragon is a widely recognized symbol of both success and protection.

The dragon’s image inspires radiant health, financial abundance, longevity and empowers the entire household, and in particular, the male members and patriarch of the family. Display the dragon and his other family members in your home to give you growth, vitality and success (dragon), good news about business and career opportunities (dragon tortoise) and to protect your assets and watch over your wealth, display a pi yao.

ROOSTERS HAVE A YEAR TO CROW ABOUT!

Rooster, you’ve got a lot to crow about in the Year of the Dragon. Like your monkey neighbor, you have terrific luck in 2012. It’s going to be a much better year than it was when the rabbit was the sign of the year. This should be a year when you see advancement with work and more prestige. Nice to hear for a change, isn’t it? Make sure you take advantage of the year ahead and tackle those items you’ve needed to work on for a while – like your health (maybe you’re just pecking at the wrong kind of food, or at getting regular exercise), or maybe it’s putting your nose down to the ground all the time.

Did you know you can actually be more effective if you take a vacation? When you’re rested fully you can work even faster and harder. Why not hit the beach this year? You’ll find that the water will restore your energy. The really great news is that someone will contact you out of the blue with an offer, maybe a business proposal, or you’ll get some incredible public relations help. That’s what kind of year this will be – lots of help and opportunity coming out of the clear blue sky. But that’s where dragons live, so it makes sense. And money? Let’s just say that at At the beginning of the year, you’ll get started with a bang and then…

The Year of the Dragon is a chance to start over and see real improvement in our lives. After the past few years of economic challenges, it’s nice to hear there is a ray of hope on the horizon. And it’s not just a sliver of light either. It’s like a giant comet streaking across the sky trailing sparkling crystals that glitter against the night sky. That comet in your mind’s eye? It’s a dragon, a cosmic creature that is associated with heaven, the sky and all the celestial realms. 

With our heads looking at the ground and noses to the grindstone for the past few years, it’s hard to imagine that looking up the view will get any better. But it does, I’m happy to tell you. Of course, we have bumps in the road of 2012, but that’s to be expected. The better news is that the reigning star is a type of energy that bestows heavenly assistance from others.

The year reminds me of the old joke about the man in the house that gets a knock on the door and it’s the police telling him that a flood is coming and he needs to get out right away. But he tells the policeman that God will take care of him. A little while later a fireman comes to the house and urges him to leave before the water overtakes his home and the man tells the fireman that God will take care of him. Finally, the man is on top of the roof and a helicopter is lowering a ladder to let the drowning man climb up and instead he says God will take care of him. When the man goes to heaven he asks God why he didn’t save him and God tells him, “Who do you think sent the policeman, fireman, and the helicopter?”

This is the situation we are in for 2012.

There is heavenly energy and there will be people who will come to your aid – from near and far. The question is: will you reject them or will you accept their assistance? The problem is often not about not getting something we want, the problem is that we often stand in the way of receiving.  We get in our own way even when someone is trying to help us. Vow to yourself that you will not only accept help, you’ll offer it, too, in the year ahead.

One of the best descriptions of this year’s energy actually comes in a book by a good friend of mine, Marc Sachnoff. He has written this very simple tale about how to get what you want in life easily and effortlessly and it’s called The Gift. But that’s the gist: you’ve got to receive to give and you’ve got to give to receive. But what’s important is the order. Many givers are bad receivers. This is especially true of women. We’re natural-born pleasers. Many women have the disease to please and it shuts them off from receiving. It sounds counterintuitive, but The Gift explains this clearly. Work more on being a gracious, open receiver.

Money

In 2012, money takes a hit. Investments and accumulated wealth hosts the Five Yellow. This is a time to get your financial house in order. If you don’t regularly check on your portfolio, investments, bank statements and taxes, it will come back to bite you. The southeast wealth corner is a wood sector, so it will help to dampen the effects, but if you don’t take precautions, it could cost you a lot.

This is also the corner that relates to the oldest daughter. Teen girls need to be careful this year. If your house faces southeast or your sleep in the southeast or work in the southeast sector, you’re under a stronger influence. Keep tabs on your health and don’t engage in risky activities like parachute jumping. If you rollerblade, wear pads.

But remember, wealth is just one kind of money. There’s accumulated money (southeast wealth sector) and generating money (north sector). There’s also opportunity money. I’ll explain more in a moment. In the sector of generating income, which relates to the north career sector, the news isn’t good either. It’s hosting the Black 2 illness star this year. That means that income could be affected by illness and there are financial implications too.

It also could very likely mean there will be limitations placed on your career. Think of the Black 2 as a giant boulder in the middle of the road. It doesn’t stop you from going where you need to go, it just might delay you or cause you to find a detour. That’s what could happen with careers. You think you’re headed in one direction and you take a sharp turn in another direction. And that’s not always a bad thing. In fact, it’s often a good thing in disguise.

The Black 2 presence could also mean limitations on income, such as commissions, bonuses and payments. You may find that you don’t get a raise this year or take a cutback of some type. These are just some of the possibilities of scenarios, but I did promise you some good news.

Directly opposite the north Black 2 star position is the White 1 star. Think of this as two giant titans squaring off because these are the elements of water and big earth – mountains and ocean. Who would win?  I bet on the water every time. What this White 1 star means is that your friends, literally and figuratively, have your back next year. Not only that, but there’s a good chance there could be a glittering opportunity that comes directly from a friend. Don’t dismiss your friends this year; they might just be offering you a gold mine for a little digging.

Look for ways to grow through people you know – that’s the networking vs. not working concept.

Relationships

Here’s the other shoe dropping for 2012: relationships. The 3 Jade star is headed to the southwest sector of women, relationships and love. If you’re crankier, more tired and snippier than usual this year, then you know why. Big Wood (men) is visiting Big Earth (women) and it’s the feng shui fight equivalent to Mothra vs. Godzilla. I’ll let you decide who is who. But what I can tell you is that if you had relationship problems last year with small wood visiting, this is the year it all comes to a head. If you were working through problems last year, and many of you were, this could be the year when you call it quits.

Is that what you want to do? If not, and you want to work on your relationship, get counseling and seek out help. Or, make the call and end the relationship. Either way, make a move. The 3 star causes fighting and arguments. For women, it also causes crushing fatigue and exhaustion and will create problems with the stomach region such as digestion and the female-famous gallbladder problems.

Make sure you take vitamins, eat right, get some sunshine and exercise and plan for down time. I talk about this every year but it’s truer than ever.  On the plus, side the three star could cause you to stretch and grow …and remember when you were a kid, the pains in your legs and arms when you were growing? It will be uncomfortable at times this year, but if things are moving head, just know that it’s “growing pains.”

For both men and women, red is the color of the year.

Men are hosting the 7 Red star and it causes deception and fraud, potentially violence. Men should be wary of credit card fraud, deceptive people, particularly men who live far away from them. Business proposals should be tightly written and reviewed by a lawyer. Women should also be on the lookout for “Mr. Smooth Talker” too. Get background checks and play it safe!

Who has the best energies this year?

In the list of all the directions, the east and west facing houses have the very best energies with a beautiful array of energies running from front to back in their homes. This is fabulous news, especially after last year! Better still? Houses whose front doors open in the center sector of the house. You’re in for some amazing news – like windfalls, heavenly people coming to assist you, and beautiful surprises. Careful not to overwork, though. South facing houses have difficulties because of the 3 Killings energies at the front (but the 1 star helps this) and the Black 2 at the back door.

These houses should be careful and keep the back portion of the house quiet. The southwest and northeast houses will fare alright in 2012, but the southeast and northwest houses need to take precautions. The Chart of the Annual Energies explains how to handle the 5 Yellow and Grand Duke Jupiter (at the Southeast houses) and the Red 7 Star (at the Northwest houses). Gems and crystals are powerful symbols of our earthly desires and they are powerful activators. Gems are regarded as earth’s most beautiful and precious energy represented in clear, beautiful, sparkling stones. These stones are widely regarded as storehouses of this beautiful earth energy – and potent objects to ground your deepest desires and help them come to fruition.

Don’t believe me? Think about one of the most common gem activators. This one is an activator of love and commitment. It’s called an engagement ring. The size, quality, and beauty of stone is often used to transmit the intent and desire of the man to make his intentions known to a woman, which in this case, is marriage.

When you have a dear desire, such as to get married or attract love, select a large faux diamond and place it next to your bed or on your desk – anywhere you’ll see it and can activate it with light. Treat it special and keep it clean. Focus on your desire to attract your perfect mate. You can do this with any special wish or desire you have. If it’s a work-related wish you have, keep your gem at work where you see it often.

Surround your Chinese astrology sign with gems.


Looking to enhance yourself or members of your family? Create a gem bowl with a variety of gems. Place small figures of each family member’s astrology animal sign in the bowl to use as an enhancer. You or your family will find yourself receiving more opportunities and exciting new ventures coming to you as a result. 

My husband and I are both tigers and I have a heart-shaped glass bowl of faux diamonds with two tigers in it.  We continue to move ahead in life and have exciting opportunities and adventures — so I can personally attest to this!

See your ship come in with gems.

Sailing ships have long been activators of arriving wealth. Take that one step further by loading your ship figurine with crystals or faux diamonds. Pink is especially powerful for bringing you attention for love.

Pick your gems with care.

Always choose clear, sparkling and beautiful gems that appeal to you. Glass, crystal, and natural gems are all perfectly acceptable activators of your wishes. Make sure the gems are not cloudy or unappealing to you in any way. Keep them clean and dust-free.

Put your gems to work.

Have a certain business you’re looking to attract? Place the name of that business or a picture of the person associated with the business or a business card on top of your diamond. If you want a commitment from a reluctant suitor, place a picture of your beloved on top of the diamond. A certain clothing size is what you’re after? Use a green colored gem and place a picture of your slimmer self on the gemstone.
