Amazon's pick for Best Mystery, Thriller & Suspense of 2011

"As I sleep, my mind will erase everything I did today. I will wake up tomorrow as I did this morning. Thinking I’m still a child. Thinking I have a whole lifetime of choice ahead of me. . . ."

Memories define us. So what if you lost yours every time you went to sleep? Your name, your identity, your past, even the people you love—all forgotten overnight. And the one person you trust may be telling you only half the story.

Welcome to Christine's life.

Amazon Best Books of the Month, June 2011: Every day Christine wakes up not knowing where she is. Her memories disappear every time she falls asleep. Her husband, Ben, is a stranger to her, and he's obligated to explain their life together on a daily basis--all the result of a mysterious accident that made Christine an amnesiac. With the encouragement of her doctor, Christine starts a journal to help jog her memory every day. One morning, she opens it and sees that she's written three unexpected and terrifying words: "Don't trust Ben." Suddenly everything her husband has told her falls under suspicion. What kind of accident caused her condition? Who can she trust? Why is Ben lying to her? And, for the reader: Can Christine’s story be trusted? At the heart of S. J. Watson's Before I Go To Sleep is the petrifying question: How can anyone function when they can't even trust themselves? Suspenseful from start to finish, the strength of Watson's writing allows Before I Go to Sleep to transcend the basic premise and present profound questions about memory and identity. One of the best debut literary thrillers in recent years, Before I Go to Sleep deserves to be one of the major blockbusters of the summer. --Miriam Landis

Emilie Guillaudeu, the museum's longtime taxidermist, is horrified by the chaotic change Barnum brings. Ana Swift, a professional giantess, is jaded by a world of gawkers pushing against her, and reacting to her, every day. But they both will endure dramatic change, one against his will, propelled by a paradigm shift happening whether he likes it or not, and the other because she is struggling to survive.

But when an artist's work lives in subverting normality, it can be difficult to raise well-adjusted children. Just ask Buster and Annie Fang. For as long as they can remember, they starred (unwillingly) in their parents' madcap pieces. But now that they are grown up, the chaos of their chaos of their childhood has made it difficult to cope with life outside the fishbowl of their parents' strange world.

When the lives they've built come crashing down, brother and sister have nowhere to to go but home, where they discover that Caleb and Camille are planning one last performance-their magnum opus-whether the kids agree to participate or not. Soon, ambition breeds conflict, bringing the Fangs to face the difficult decision about what's ultimately more important: their family or their art.

A mysterious island.

An abandoned orphange.

A strange collection of very peculiar photographs.

As our story opens a horific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that miss Peregrine's children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow-impossible though it seems-they may still be alive.

Arriving in the mail over a period of weeks are taunting letters that end with a simple declaration: "Think of any number...picture it...now see how well I know your secrets." Amazingly, those who comply find that the letter writer has predicted their random choices exactly. For Dave Gurney, just retired as the NYPD's top homicide investigator and forging a new life with his wife, Madeleine, in upstate New York, the letters are oddities that begin as a diverting puzzle but quickly ignite a massive serial-murder investigation.

What policeare confronted with is a completely baffling killer, one who is fond of rhymes filled with threats and warnings, whose attention to detail is unprecedented, and who has an uncanny knack for disappearing into thin air. Even more disturbing, the scale of his ambition seems to widen as events unfold.

Brought in as an investigative consultant, Gurney soon accomplishes deductive breakthroughs that leave local police in awe. Yet, even as he matches wits with his seemingly clairvoyant opponent, Gurney's tragedy-marred past rises up to haunt him, his marriage approaches a dangerous precipice, and, finally, a dark, cold fear builds that he's met an adversary who can't be stopped.

He's a man at the top of his game with the life he's always dreamed of, complete with a loving wife, who remains patient with his long hours and high-stakes cases, and a beautiful young daughter.

At his father's funeral, Alex meets Michael Ohlig- a mysterious and nearly mythic firgure in the Miller family history--who presents Alex with a surprising request: to represent him in a high-profile criminal investigation...an alleged brokerage scam that has lost hundreds of millions of dollars for investors. Wealthy beyond words, Ohlig insists he has done nothing wrong, and Alex, who's experienced enough to know that clients always lie, uncharacteristically believes him.

But as the facts come out, shocking secrets are revealed that threaten everything Alex believes in--about the law, his family, and himself. But his desperate need for the truth propels Alex to unscrupulous depths, and to confront a past defined by deception and a future in jeopardy...with the realization that one false step could destroy everything Alex holds dear.

<img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6pVxWDuFqsw/Tjmtvyo0QaI/AAAAAAAAAqo/Jvkm80fYc5M/s1600/the+meghan+method.jpg" t$="true" />

ANYONE CAN DECORATE.

ANYONE.

Most people dream of having an interior designer swoop in ans save them. But you don't need that.

You already have what it takes to decorate. The talent. The creativity. All your missing is the know-how, and that's exactly what this book gives you.

Meghan walks you through each step of the decorating process, starting with determining what you want and ending with your dream room--a room perfectly tailored to your wants and needs. And while you may think an interior designer could create a better version for you, she begs to differ. No one knows what you love better than you. Which is why, you'll always be your own best decorator.

To make the process as easy as can be, included are many full-color photo examples along with simple worksheets with step-by-step instructions that make decorating absolutely foolproof.

Nothing about the assignment is easy: not only does no one know where Dr. Swenson is, but the last person who was sent to find her, Marina's research partner Anders Eckman, died before he could complete his mission. Plagued by trepidation, Marina embarks on an odyssey into the insect-infested jungle in hopes of finding Dr. Swenson as well as answers to troubling questions about her friends death, the state of her company's future, and her own past.

Once found, Dr. Swenson, now in her seventies, is a ruthless and uncompromising as she ever was back in the days of Grand Rounds at Johns Hopkins. With a combination of science and subterfuge, she dominates her research team and the natives she is studying with the force of an imperial ruler. But while she is as threatening as anything the jungle has to offer, the greatest sacrifices to be made are the ones Dr. Swenson asks of herself, and will ultimately ask of Marina.

Almost half a century after Cary Grant's retirement from the screen, he remains the quintessential romantic comic movie star. He stopped making movies when his daughter was born so that he could be with her and raise her, which is just what he did.

Good Stuff is an enchanting portrait of a profound and loving relationship between a daughter and her father, who just happens to be one of America's most iconic male movie stars.

Cary Grant's own personal childhood archives were burned in World War I, and he took painstaking care to ensure that his daughter would have an accurate record of her early life. In Good Stuff, Jennifer Grant writes of their life together through her high school and college years until Grant's death at the age of eighty-two.

Cary Grant had a happy way of living, and he gave that to his daughter. He invented the phrase "good stuff" to mean happiness. For the last twenty years of his life, his daughter experienced the full vital passion of her father's heart, and she now -- delightfully-- gives us a taste of it.

She writes of the lessons he taught her; of his childhood as well as her own...Here are the letters, notes, and funny cards written from her to him...as well as bits of conversation between them (Cary Grant kept a tape recorder going for most of their time together).

She writes of their life at 9966 Beverly Grove Drive, living in a farmhouse in the midst of Beverly hills, playing, laughing, dining, and dancing through the thick and thin of Jennifer's growing up; the years of his work, his travels, his friendships with "old Hollywood royalty" (the Sinatras, the Pecks, the Poitiers, et. al.) and with just plain-old royalty (the Rainiers)...

We see Grant the playful dad; Grant the clown, sharing his gifts of laughter through his warm spirit; Grant teaching his daughter about life, about love, about boys, about manners and money, about acting and living.

Cary Grant was given the undefinable incandescence of charm. He was a pip....

Drawing from from a lifetime of lessons learned, If You Ask Me mixes her thoughtful observations with humorous stories from a seven-decade career in Hollywood. Longtime fans and new fans alike will relish Betty's candid take on everything from the unglamorous reality behind red carpet affairs, to her beauty regimen ("I have no idea what color my hair is, and I never intend to find out"), to the Facebook campaign that helped persuade her to host Saturday Night Live despite having turned down the hosting job three times over the course of her career.

This is a lively, heartwarming memoir of a performer who still thinks of himself as a "simple song-and-dance man," but who is, in every sense of the word, a classic entertainer.

She also had a dream that one day she would become a comedian on TV.

She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon--from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've all suspected: you're no one until someone calls you bossy.

When Earl Alden is found dead, dangling from a wind turbine, it's his wife, Missy, who is arrested. Unfortunately for Joe Pickett, Missy is his mother-in-law, a woman he dislikes heartily (and vice versa), and now he doesn't know what to do--especially when the early signs point to her being guilty as sin.

But then things happen to make Joe wonder: Is Earl's death what it appears to be? Is Missy being set up? He has the county attorney and sheriff on one side, his wife on the other, his estranged frienf Nate on a lethal mission of his own, and some powerful interests breathing down his neck.

Whichever way this goes...it's not going to be good.
