Just a few more days to go to achieve their dream of bringing the creativity of clay to the local community.

And as my lovely friend Tash said on her Facebook "A group of ceramic artists have come together to try and create something that will bring ceramics to more people. As well as making their own work, they are also offering a way for children, young people and adults to try out ceramics but not have to invest in the expensive costs - they need help to realise this dream and so I am asking if you can spare a tenner (you can get some rewards depending on how much you invest) and help them to realise their funding goal. If you cannot spare the money - then can you please share this far and wide". Thank you Tash and all the other lovely supporters who are making this happen!

My early influences at art school were Alberto Morrocco and my tutor James Morrison. But back to the journey. Pattern and colour are a big part of my client's life, also ceramics she had created as well as her partner's favourite item - Pegasus........ and so it continues to develop. Note to self : must try and take better pics as I go along!

Always enjoyed working on large canvases so when I was asked do a commission of a still life using their favourite possessions it took me back to my early days at art college. Once I had gathered all the references and drew up the composition, I decided to go with the natural colour of the canvas which is not how we were taught to begin a painting (normally the tutors would get us to lose the colour with a wash of a grey, darker tone) but it just felt right. And so it began .........

I think Margaret Olley called herself the original bag lady and I could see why when I visited Tweed River Art Gallery, New South Wales. The artist had donated her home and contents to the gallery and it was a visual cornucopia of objet d'arts, possessions and house contents - amazing! Not sure I would want to live there but I would certainly loved to have be invited as one of her guests for dinner.

My celebs just loved trying on the hand knitted hats! Bit of fun and it made people smile! Bowhouse is a great venue and was very busy but I'm not sure if I'm meant to be a 'craft' person. Lucy took the pic and both Kirsty and her really helped over the weekend. Thank you darlings! #knittingastherapy

I don't know about you but I had to put the heating on last night - it's August!! I'm spending my slowly getting darker nights knitting my hats as I have been doing for a few years now. Lovely mixing the strands to create a textured quality to the ribbed hats. They seem to be ending up Autumnal or bright and cheery Spring I guess. Which do you prefer? Planning a craft fair or two ....
