We I am so anxious for spring that we took a walk to the park yesterday (not really expecting the kids to play - Ha!). It&#39;s a good thing we had our rain boots on (except for the hubby who got his feet soaked) because there were gigantic puddles everywhere, which only added to the boys&#39; excitement... it felt good to be out ;)

The 5 year old insisted on building the fort himself, with some minor assistance from the 3 year old. And it&#39;s much bigger than it looks like in the picture. The final touch was adding 2 sunroofs for them to open up and peek out from.

I personally don&#39;t really believe in religion, any religion (I have nothing against anyone who does, it just isn&#39;t my belief). But I do love the holidays. Last week the 5 year old and I met up with the Homelearners for a group visit of the Cosmodome. This great facility includes an astronautics and space exploration museum as well as space camp programs. I don&#39;t remember Halloween being such a long event when I was a kid. But then, I do have short term memory issues... Well, we&#39;ve been full on in Halloween mode here for the last week.

For the last 2 years, J, the 5 year old, has been going to the Early Childhood Education program&#39;s observation nursery at our local University. I am behind in posting about our activities as we&#39;ve been keeping extra busy these past few weeks. There&#39;s just been soooo much going on... Like going to the &quot;Not back to school picnic&quot; (2 weeks ago). This annual event is organized by the Montreal Homelearners and is a fun way to celebrate the start of the &quot;school&quot; year. This is the 5th year of the event and it&#39;s the 2nd time we&#39;ve been to it.

Yesterday, the 5 year old went to participate in a research study on language development. I&#39;ve always been very willing to have the kids take part in these types of studies... as long as they&#39;re not too invasive. He spent nearly 2 hours there, mainly playing games, all in the name of research. And he really enjoyed himself. We took the boys to the Mini Maker Faire this past weekend. This event was created by the Make magazine and is described as:

It looked pretty clean and in rather good shape and was just sitting at the end of their driveway. So, I immediately thought of the 5 year old and how he would love to open it up and have a look inside. So, I took it and brought it home.

I recently came across this post at Play at Home Mom and another similar post at Play Create Explore about baked cotton balls and I knew it would be perfect for us. It was Perfect for three reasons: 1) Easy/quick to setup  2) I had all the required materials and 3) I needed a good distraction while I made supper.

It&#39;s been a crazy busy summer for us and we&#39;ve been up to a lot. In the past, when I spent days with the kids, I always aimed to have one activity per day so I didn&#39;t go stir crazy. But summer is different, and especially this 1st summer after leaving my job. I just feel like I have to do every single thing I can because soon enough the warmth and sun will be gone. The kids had a blast, as usual. They feel right at home there. I am so grateful that they get to live this through their grandparents... because, let&#39;s face it, they&#39;re not going to get it from me.

As much as I like to dream of living a self sustaining lifestyle, I&#39;m not the type of person that could pull it off for an extended period of time.
