Creating an AI and search engine friendly website is not difficult — but it does require planning, research and understanding how your customers actually search online.

After 28 years of building websites for businesses, we’ve found that the biggest mistake most companies make is this: they write for themselves instead of writing for their customers.

The good news is that if you create a website that is genuinely useful, clear and customer-focused, search engines and AI will naturally understand what your website is about.

Here’s a simple process you can follow.

Step 1: Brainstorm the Words Your Customers Use

Start by listing at least 10–20 words or phrases your customers might type into Google or AI to find your products or services.

Don’t overcomplicate this. Most people use simple, obvious words when searching online.

You can even ask existing customers directly:
“What would you search for if you were looking for a business like ours?”

Think broadly:

Singular and plural words

Related phrases

Common variations

Geographic locations

Industry terms

Personal names

Frequently used abbreviations

For example:

HR consultants

Business coaching

Business workshops

HRDC workshops

Marketing consultants for doctors

In Malaysia, language matters too. Depending on your audience, people may search using English or Bahasa Malaysia terms.

If your website content is written in Bahasa Malaysia, including relevant Bahasa keywords can help you reach the right audience naturally.

However, if your customers mainly search in English and your website is fully in English, it is usually better to stay consistent rather than mixing languages unnecessarily.

Step 2: Use These Words Naturally in Your Website Content

Once you have your keyword list, the next step is to work those words naturally into your website content.

The key word here is naturally.

Do not write awkward sentences just to force keywords into a page. Your website should still sound human, clear and helpful.

Search engines today are much smarter than they were years ago. They are designed to reward websites that genuinely answer users’ questions and provide a good experience.

A useful way to think about this is:

One page = one main topic

If a page is about HR consulting, focus that page on HR issues and how you can solve leadership and communication problems for employees and employers in an organization. Go deep into that topic and offer more information than your competitors.

Clear topics help both visitors, AI and search engines understand your website better.

One of the biggest mistakes businesses make is trying to optimize a website after it has already been built. Proper planning at the beginning saves time and usually produces much better results.

Step 3: Write Strong Page Titles and Descriptions

Every page on your website should have:

A unique page title

A unique page description

These appear in Google search results (and now AI Overview) and help people decide whether to click on your website.

Your page title and description should clearly explain what the page is about while naturally including the main keyword or phrase for that page.

For example:

Page Title:
Website design for Penang SME businesses.

Page Description:
Professional website design services for SME businesses in Penang. Mobile-friendly, marketing-ready, great return on investment.

This process may feel tedious, especially on larger websites (websites with hundreds of pages), which is why many web designers skip it entirely. Unfortunately, this is also one of the reasons many websites struggle to perform well on search engines.

Original Content Matters

Your website content should always be original.

Avoid copying text from other websites or duplicating pages on your own website with only minor word changes. Search engines can detect duplicate content easily.

Instead, focus on creating content that is:

Helpful

Clear

Relevant

Easy to understand

The more useful your website is to real people, the stronger your website becomes over time. Here’s a quick tip: always include a Frequently Asked Questions page in your website, focusing on questions that your customers ask the most!

Your Homepage Should Guide Visitors

Many websites waste valuable homepage space talking endlessly about themselves.

A better homepage focuses on helping visitors take the next step:

Learn more

Contact you

View services

Read articles

Get a quotation

Make an appointment

Book a discovery call

Your homepage should guide visitors deeper into your website instead of overwhelming them with too much information. If you have too much information, it’s time to categorize and curate. Don’t overwhelm your website visitors or customers when they arrive at your Homepage.

Great websites are designed around what customers need to know in order to make a decision — not just what the business wants to say.

The Simple 3-Step Formula

To create a search engine friendly website (and one that is also AI-friendly):

Identify the words your customers use

Work those words naturally into your website content

Write strong page titles and page descriptions for every page

Are Websites Still Needed Now That We Have AI?

In fact, as AI tools and search engines become smarter, having a strong website matters even more. AI-powered search tools still need trusted sources of information to learn from, reference, and recommend.

Your website acts as your digital home base — a place you fully own and control, unlike social media platforms where algorithms and trends constantly change. A well-structured website helps establish credibility, showcases your expertise, answers customer questions and gives AI clear information about your business.

While social media posts disappear quickly in crowded feeds, website content can continue attracting visitors, leads and opportunities for years through search engines and AI-assisted search experiences.

Interestingly, two clients recently shared that new customers discovered their businesses through AI-powered search tools and recommendations. Both clients were especially pleased that they had invested in building their websites more than 15 years ago.

This highlights something else many business owners overlook: domain age and website age still matter. Older websites with a long history of consistent, original content often build stronger trust and authority over time. Search engines and AI systems tend to view established websites as more credible sources of information. While newer websites can still perform well, businesses that started building their online presence years ago are now benefiting from the long-term value of that decision.

If your website is genuinely useful, customer-focused, and built with clarity in mind, you are already doing the most important part of SEO well.

What if your business had the opportunity to engage directly with energetic, creative and ambitious students in a meaningful, hands-on environment?

What if your company could meet future talent before they even graduate?

What if instead of waiting for resumes to arrive through traditional recruitment channels, your business had the opportunity to engage directly with energetic, creative and ambitious students in a meaningful, hands-on environment?

That is exactly what the Big Timer University Program was created for.

At Redbox Studio, we believe students, educators and businesses should not exist in separate worlds. We believe in creating a healthier ecosystem where industry experts, SMEs, entrepreneurs, teachers and students get to know each other earlier through meaningful interaction, creativity and experiential learning.

That is why we created the Big Timer University Program — a sponsored, game-based entrepreneurship workshop for private colleges and universities.

What Is the Big Timer University Program?

The Big Timer University Program is a 4-hour experiential workshop conducted by Redbox Studio using our proprietary Big Timer business strategy game.

Students make strategic business decisions, solve challenges and learn entrepreneurship concepts through active gameplay and guided discussions.

The workshop is designed to be:

Interactive

Fun

Strategic

Hands-on

Industry-connected

Rather than sitting through another lecture, students experience entrepreneurship in a creative, risk-free environment while learning directly from experienced business professionals.

Each session typically accommodates 30 students (with capacity for up to 50 students depending on venue size and setup).

Are You The Corporate Sponsor We’re Looking For?

These workshops are complimentary for students.

By sponsoring a Big Timer University session, your company helps create access to entrepreneurial learning opportunities while also gaining direct visibility among future graduates, young talent and university educators.

Most traditional recruitment only look at students when they graduate.

That is too late. What we prefer is to start relationship-building right now when the students are on campus.

It is an opportunity for SMEs and growing companies to introduce themselves to students before they enter the workforce — in a far more authentic and engaging setting than career fairs or job portals.

What You Will Receive As A Sponsor

As a sponsor, your company will be invited to participate directly in the session. For the moment, we are looking for one sponsor per workshop for maximum visibility and goodwill.

As a sponsor, you will receive:

A 10-minute company introduction slot during the workshop

Branding visibility on workshop materials and slides

Space for a booth or networking table

Opportunities to interact directly with students and lecturers

Social media mentions and event photography

Association with an innovative educational initiative

Visibility within colleges and universities

Goodwill as a supporter of entrepreneurship and experiential learning

Most importantly, sponsors get the opportunity to speak to highly engaged students in an environment where students are actively participating, collaborating and thinking creatively.

Why This Matters for SMEs

Large corporations often dominate university recruitment activities.

But SMEs are where students can often gain the most meaningful exposure, responsibility and growth opportunities.

The challenge for most SMEs is visibility.

Many students simply do not know:

What local SMEs do

What opportunities exist

What innovative businesses are operating around them

The Big Timer University Program helps bridge that gap.

It creates a space where businesses and students can connect naturally through conversation, interaction and shared learning experiences.

Innovative Approach to Talent Engagement

Traditional recruitment can feel distant and transactional.

A company posts a job.
Students submit resumes.
Everyone hopes for the best.

But meaningful connections rarely happen that way.

The Big Timer University Program creates an environment where:

Students see your company in action

Your team interacts with students directly

Students remember your brand

Teachers become aware of your business

Conversations happen organically

Instead of waiting until graduation season, companies get the opportunity to build early familiarity and trust with future talent.

Let’s Build a Stronger Ecosystem Together

At Redbox Studio, we believe entrepreneurship education should not happen in isolation.

Students need exposure. Teachers need industry connections.
Businesses need visibility and talent access.

The Big Timer University Program brings all three together through creativity, collaboration and experiential learning.

This is more than a workshop sponsorship; it is a chance to contribute to a stronger local ecosystem where education and industry actively support one another.

Limited Sponsorship Opportunities Available

We are inviting selected SMEs and business partners to sponsor upcoming Big Timer University sessions with local colleges and universities.

If your company believes in supporting young people, building meaningful visibility and engaging future talent in a more human and creative way, we would love to speak with you.

You can sponsor one single workshop, three workshops or all the workshops in one year.

To explore sponsoring a Big Timer University workshop, reach out to Redbox Studio to learn more about partnership opportunities.

Jessica, a course creator based in New Zealand, came to Krista and Nic of Redbox Studio with a clear vision for what she wanted to teach — but no idea how to turn that expertise into an online business.

Like many first-time course creators, Jessica felt overwhelmed by the endless information online. She wasn’t tech savvy, didn’t know which course platform to choose and was worried about wasting money on the wrong tools or getting stuck trying to figure everything out herself. While she knew her course content inside out, she lacked the roadmap, systems and confidence needed to launch and sell it online.

In mid 2024, Jessica booked a consulting session with Redbox Studio — a session that ultimately gave her the clarity and direction she needed to move forward confidently. During the consultation, Krista and Nic helped her map out the right platform, website requirements and strategic roadmap for launching her course online. They also guided her through practical and cost-effective solutions for her domain, email and course delivery system.

Using the strategy and guidance from the deep-dive session, she filmed her own course videos and built her online course with a clear plan in place and launched her course at the end of 2024.

Gave Me Confidence To Move Forward

One of Jessica’s key priorities was creating a smooth and professional experience for her students. With the systems and recommendations provided during the consultation, she was able to create a user-friendly learning platform where students could log in, access lessons easily and replay content anytime through their own dashboards.

To support her implementation process, Redbox Studio also provided a detailed PDF summarizing the strategy, recommended tools and next steps — giving Jessica a practical roadmap she could revisit anytime she felt stuck.

“They didn’t just give advice — they actually helped me build something real that my students are using every day. I genuinely recommend them to anyone who has the expertise to teach but feels stuck on the tech side,” says Jessica.

Thriving Digital Course with Students and Affiliates

Today, Jessica has successfully built a thriving digital course business with more than 100 students enrolled. Around 10% of her students have gone on to start their own businesses based on the skills and knowledge she taught in the course.

Her course business has since grown into a 6-figure business, giving her both financial success and lifestyle freedom. Jessica is now location independent and, in her own words, has “tons of free time” compared to before. She has even turned some of her students into affiliates, creating an ecosystem where her learners also help promote and grow the course organically.

“I was new to all this online technology stuff, and I really appreciate that Krista and Nic helped me turn my idea into an actual vision I could launch. What I appreciate most is how they took my vision and made it functional for my students. Because of their suggestions, my students now have their own dashboard where they can log in and replay the lessons as many times as they want — that was a must-have for me. The website is genuinely user-friendly, not just for me but for the people actually using it,” Jessica concludes.

Jessica adds, “After the consultation, they put together a really clear PDF with suggestions and next steps. As someone new to tech, having everything documented in plain words was a game-changer. Instead of trying to remember what we talked about, I could just re-access the PDF anytime I felt stuck. It turned all those scattered ideas and platform options into something I could actually follow step-by-step. That documentation gave me so much confidence moving forward.”

They Were More Like Partners Than Consultants

She says that Redbox Studio weren’t typical consultants – she felt they were more like partners that cared about her digital course and its success. They didn’t just help her figure out the technology but they helped her think through “the students’ experiences, the cost-effective options, and even my long-term goal of collaborating with other brands. That level of investment is rare.”

What began as a consulting session became the catalyst for a scalable digital education business with real-world impact.

If you’re stuck in your business or need a strategic roadmap to move forward, contact us for a quick discovery call. We work best with business owners who are experts at what they offer but are overwhelmed and need an objective third party (like us) to guide them towards clarity and action.

Bridging Entrepreneurship, Industry and Real-World Learning

Universities today face an important challenge.

How do we prepare students for a future that demands more than academic knowledge alone?

Employers are increasingly looking for graduates who can think strategically, communicate confidently, solve problems creatively and adapt quickly in real-world situations. At the same time, students themselves are seeking learning experiences that are practical, engaging and connected to the realities of business and industry.

This is where the Big Timer University Program comes in.

The Big Timer University Program is a hands-on, game-based entrepreneurship and business strategy experience designed to help students develop practical business thinking skills in an interactive and highly engaging environment.

Rather than learning business concepts only through lectures and theory, students participate in collaborative decision-making, strategic thinking exercises and entrepreneurial simulations that mirror real-world business challenges.

What Makes Big Timer Different?

Big Timer is not a traditional classroom workshop.

It is an experiential learning program where students actively participate, discuss, negotiate, make decisions and reflect on outcomes together as teams.

Through the program, students learn how to:

Think strategically under pressure

Understand business fundamentals in a practical way

Improve communication and leadership skills

Develop entrepreneurial thinking and creativity

Make decisions with limited resources and changing market conditions

Understand how businesses grow, compete and adapt

The learning experience is designed to be interactive, memorable and highly relevant to the realities students may face in their future careers or entrepreneurial journeys.

University Students Need More Experiential Learning

Many universities are now recognising the importance of experiential and industry-connected education.

Students learn best when they can:

apply concepts in real situations,

engage actively with peers,

and experience the consequences of strategic decisions firsthand.

The Big Timer University Program supports universities in creating:

stronger student engagement,

entrepreneurship exposure,

industry collaboration opportunities,

and career-readiness experiences beyond the traditional classroom.

The program can complement:

entrepreneurship modules,

business and management subjects,

leadership programs,

innovation initiatives,

student development activities,

employability and career-readiness programs,

and industry engagement events.

Corporate Partners Need Smart Hires

Forward-thinking companies understand that building future talent starts early.

The Big Timer University Program creates opportunities for companies to:

engage directly with energetic and ambitious students,

increase brand visibility on campus,

contribute meaningfully to education and talent development,

support entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives,

and build relationships with future graduates before traditional recruitment begins.

Corporate sponsors may also participate through:

mentorship,

industry sharing sessions,

judging panels,

networking opportunities,

or collaborative student engagement activities.

This creates a stronger bridge between industry and education while allowing companies to position themselves as organisations that actively invest in future talent development.

A Multistakeholder Ecosystem To Develop Future Talent

The Big Timer University Program is designed to bring together:

universities,

educators,

students,

and industry partners

into one collaborative learning ecosystem.

Our goal is simple: to create meaningful learning experiences that help students think bigger, communicate better and develop practical entrepreneurial and strategic skills that will serve them throughout their careers.

A client recently told me a story that stopped me mid-conversation.

Her client — a new father — had been thinking about buying insurance for his newborn.

So he did what most people do today: he searched online. But this time, AI surfaced the results. A couple of insurance agencies in Penang came up. He went through the links, made his decision and reached out to two of them via WhatsApp.

The first agency never replied.

The second — my client’s agency — responded within the day. They met in person and spoke about the best insurance policies for his newborn. Within a week, the sale was done.

My client credited two things for that win. First, her website was credible enough that AI noticed it. Second, it was credible enough that a real human decided to contact her. The AI did the introduction. She did the rest.

That story is a perfect snapshot of where we are right now — and it’s a good moment to talk about what’s actually working in the age of AI search.

Authority Is Everything Now

The businesses showing up in AI search results aren’t necessarily the ones running the biggest ad budgets. They’re the ones that have earned credibility over time — through consistent content, through being cited and referenced by others and by having a website that clearly communicates who they are, what they do and who they serve.

This is not new thinking. This is SEO 101 from 15 years ago. What’s changed is that now an AI is the one doing the initial filtering and first-level evaluation — and AI is, in many ways, a tougher audience than Google’s old algorithm. It’s looking for signals that your business is real, trustworthy and relevant to the person asking.

So the question isn’t “How do I get AI to pull up favourable results for my brand?”

The question is: “Is my website genuinely credible?”

Online Age Matters

One thing worth knowing about my client’s website: we built it for her more than 15 years ago. The domain has been active and consistent all that time. In the world of SEO — and now AI search — domain age is a genuine trust signal.

An older domain that has been continuously maintained tells search engines (and AI) that this is not a fly-by-night operation. It’s a business that has been around, that has shown up consistently, and that isn’t going anywhere. Even if you’re a new business owner and haven’t decided anything concrete yet, our advice is: get your domain name now.

But domain and website age alone aren’t shortcuts. Her website has been redesigned at least twice over those 15 years. The content has evolved and improved in accordance with her company’s growth and positioning. The back-end and front-end structure has been updated to reflect how people search and what they need to find. Longevity without upkeep is just an outdated website that helps nobody. What counts is a website that has grown alongside the business — and continues to give visitors every reason to trust what they see.

That’s exactly what her website does. The credibility cues are all there: clear information about who she is, what she offers, her credentials, her images, her experience and enough context for a prospect to feel confident before they’ve even made contact. By the time the new father messaged her on WhatsApp, the website had already done a significant part of the selling.

Build Your FAQ For Tough Prospects

One of the most practical things you can do right now is rethink your FAQ page. Most businesses write FAQs around questions they want to answer — which is usually about their products, their process and their pricing. That’s what every website does.

AI pulls answers from content that matches what people are actually typing into search. Which means your FAQ needs to reflect the real questions your prospects are asking — even the awkward and impolite ones, the ones that make you uncomfortable, the ones that reveal they are newbies and understand very little about your industry.

Think about what your prospects ask you in that first phone call or first meeting. Those are your uncomfortable but much needed FAQ questions. Write them out. Answer them clearly. That’s the content AI is looking for.

Original Content Is Far More Valuable Today

Here’s the irony of the moment we’re in: AI is trawling the entire internet for content and yet it’s actively devaluing content that was generated by AI.

Original, human-made content carries more weight.

But what does “original” actually mean? It’s not just “written by a human.” It’s content that carries a point of view. It’s the opinion that your competitors are too cautious to publish. It’s the contrarian thinking backed by real experience. It’s the uncomfortable truth about your industry that clients need to hear but rarely do.

It’s also your voice. Your style. The way you phrase things after years of talking to clients, writing proposals, making sales calls and explaining complex ideas in simple language. That’s genuinely hard to replicate — and it’s exactly what makes your content yours.

The insurance client my client won? He didn’t just find her through AI. He evaluated her through her website. Her voice, her credibility, her content — those were what convinced him to tap that WhatsApp button.

How Do You Create Authority and Credbility?

Write content worth referencing or resharing.

Guest post or share your articles on public platforms.

Collaborate with others in your industry.

Have a point of view that’s unmistakably yours.

Get your name and your website mentioned.

Have others talk about you and your work positively.

Answer real questions. Update your FAQ with the questions your actual clients ask — not the ones you wish they’d ask.

Invest in your website for the long haul. A website that has been consistently maintained over many years carries more authority than a brand-new one, no matter how beautifully designed. Start now, keep going, and update it as your business evolves.

Write with a point of view. Share your opinions. Be willing to say something that not everyone agrees with. That’s what makes content stick — and what makes AI (and humans) pay attention.

Respond when people reach out. The first agency in that story had everything else right — and lost the sale because nobody replied. Getting found is only half the job.

If you’ve found this useful, please share this with your network. Or sign up to get updates via email.

We have worked with Dr. Somaskandar Sivasuntharam — better known as Dr. Somas — for over 15 years. When we first started working with him, he was virtually invisible online. Search for his name, and nothing came up. Search for an obstetrician in Penang, and he was nowhere to be found.

That changed when we built his website.

Suddenly, patients could find him. They could read about his expertise in obstetrics, fertility and 4D ultrasound. They could understand who he was before they ever walked through his door. His name became searchable and that made all the difference.

“Key specialists include Dr. Somaskandar Sivasuntharam (Dr. Somas) offering prenatal care and 4D scans.” — Google AI Overview, April 2026

This excerpt above is from Google’s AI Overview — the AI-generated summary that now sits at the very top of search results, captured just this month.

And it is pulling directly from Dr. Somas’s website (look to the right side of the page – his website is the first listing.)

This is where we are headed.

AI is no longer just helping people search — it is answering for them. When someone types “pregnancy doctor Penang,” they may never scroll past the first paragraph. The AI reads the web on their behalf and surfaces the names it trusts.

The question is: whose name does it find?

Why this matters for you as a doctor

Word of mouth and personal recommendations will always matter. But the first thing most new patients do — even after a personal recommendation — is search for you online.

If they cannot find you or if what they find is incomplete, sketchy or outdated, that trust erodes before it even begins. And if you’re not the type of doctor who enjoys creating short videos on TikTok and Instagram, all the more reason you should have a website.

A website is your online home with authority and it frees you up from constantly trying to keep up with trends!

A well-built website does something a social media profile cannot: it gives AI something substantial to read. It communicates your specialty, your experience and your approach in depth. That depth is exactly what AI systems are trained to surface.

Three things you can do right now

You do not need a full website overhaul to start improving how AI sees you. Here are three ways to improve your website today.

Write your specialty clearly on your website’s homepage

AI systems look for plain, specific language. A sentence like “Dr. Somas specialises in obstetrics, fertility treatment and 4D ultrasound at Gleneagles Penang” is far more useful to AI — and to patients — than a vague tagline. Be explicit about what you do and where you practice.

Make sure your name, clinic and location appear together consistently

AI builds confidence from repetition and consistency. Your full name, clinic name and city should appear together in the same phrasing across your website, your Google Business Profile, and any directories you are listed in. Inconsistencies confuse both AI and patients.

Add more to your “About” page written in full sentences

AI does not read bullet points well — it prefers prose. A page describing your background, training and patient philosophy gives AI systems the context they need to represent you accurately. Think of it as briefing the AI about who you are, in your own words. And please, don’t ever use the boring biodata that lists your medical degrees. This will not help you become more personable.

Dr. Somas is a great example of what is possible when a doctor takes their digital presence seriously. His website has quietly done its job for years — connecting him with patients who needed him. His thriving practice is a testament that having a strong digital presence from his early days as a doctor pays off.

And now, as of April 2026, it is being read by AI that recommends him by name at the very top of Google.

The search landscape has changed and it will keep changing. Your website is no longer just a digital brochure that doesn’t need updating — it is your unique selling proposition in a conversation you may not even know is happening!

Redbox Studio has been building websites for service professionals – doctors included – since 1998. We understand the unique needs of doctors — from marketing to positioning and from creating patient trust to search visibility to the rapidly evolving world of AI-driven discovery.

We tested ideas, built partnerships and showed up consistently across training rooms and regional stages. Here's what we discovered.

This year, we tested ideas, built partnerships and showed up consistently across training rooms, virtual spaces and regional stages.

You may know us as a web development company yet we have evolved and expanded into strategic work with consulting and game-based workshops using a unique invention of ours called Big Timer.

Here’s a quick look at what we worked on, who we collaborated with and what key lessons we learned in 2025.

Bringing Big Timer to Life: Workshops & Training

This year, we continued to bring our Big Timer game-based learning framework into real rooms with real people:

HRDC National Training Week (June)
Similar to last year, this year we supported the national initiative again. As a registered training provider, we participated in HRDC National Training Week, conducting a half-day Big Timer workshop for trainers at the Penang Digital Library. Our goal was to showcase and position Big Timer as a business tool that trainers could adopt for their own workshops.

Big Timer workshop, Kuala Lumpur (July)
In July, we organized another half-day Big Timer game workshop in Kuala Lumpur at Sonic Lobby, a venue owned by our friend, Phoebe, a musician and composer. The session reinforced our belief that learning sticks when it’s experiential, playful and grounded in real business challenges. Again, we brought together a mix of trainers and business owners who found the workshop practical and energizing!

Trainer’s Edition in 2026
Building on this momentum, we began developing a Trainer’s edition of Big Timer, setting the stage for trainers to adopt our game and modules, either to incorporate within their teambuilding workshops or to teach our business modules. If this interests you, leave your details and we will update you when we run our trainer edition workshop.

Podcasting, Visibility & Voice

A huge part of our strategic work revolves around storytelling. We encourage businesses to share their stories because stories help businesses gain trust and grow visibility (and we offer a HRDC claimable course on this topic too). It’s no surprise that storytelling and voice remained central to our work this year:

Webinar with Sonic Lobby (August)
We co-organized a webinar on the technical and strategic aspects of podcasting, helping participants understand how podcasts can be used not just for content, but for credibility, connection and collaboration. We brought the practicalities and business nuances to podcasting while Sonic Lobby demonstrated the importance of audio clarity in podcasting. If you missed the webinar, you might wish to check our ebook all about starting a podcast.

Two New Seasons of Womenpreneur Asia:
We produced two more seasons of the Womenpreneur Asia podcast, bringing the show to 155 episodes. This year alone, we met and spoke with an incredible number of women across Asia, amplifying stories that deserve to be heard.

Extending Our Reach
Womenpreneur Asia was invited to be part of G Woman Media, a North American platform that’s powered by global women in media and communications — extending the reach of Asian women’s stories beyond the region.

Clarity and Confidence In Showing Up Online

One of the biggest highlights of the year was building and running programs focused on visibility and expression:

From Vision to Voice (September)
In collaboration with Digital Confluence in Australia, we created and delivered From Vision to Voice, a 4-week live program for women, helping participants clarify their ideas, articulate their stories and show up with confidence.

30-Day Visibility Challenge (LinkedIn)
Alongside the program, we co-created a 30-Day Visibility Challenge. Much to our surprise — and delight — as program founders, Rowena and I completed the challenge ourselves, proving that consistency really does compound. As a nice little outcome, we managed to pique the interest of a US-based business owner who engaged us for a strategy consultation.

Weekly Visibility Challenge (Ongoing)
To keep the momentum going after our 30-Day Visbility Challenge ended, we launched the Weekly Visibility Challenge, which continues to encourage women and men to show up, share insights and build visibility sustainably. Join us here.

Livestreaming and Youtube Videos
As part of our work, Rowena and I set out to create 2 LinkedIn Live streams and 13 YouTube videos, documenting how From Vision to Voice was developed — openly sharing our thinking, experiments and lessons. We named these our BTS videos for Behind The Scenes. Watch them here.

Regional Presence & Meaningful Conversations

This year took us beyond our usual circles and into broader regional conversations based on the networks and connections we had cultivated with podcasting and by participating in previous global and regional programs.

Speaking Engagements in Thailand
I represented Redbox Studio at a regional conference in Phuket, organized by the US State Department, speaking on two panel discussions focused on entrepreneurship in the age of AI. These conversations have already sparked new collaborations in the pipeline for the coming year. While we’re highly engaged in digital work, we’re also mindful that face-to-face interactions create and speed up collaborations. Get my post-conference AI thoughts in this article.

Participating in Regional Conferences in The Philippines and Indonesia
When we speak about visibility, we speak from experience. Our visibility efforts have brought forth opportunities such as being selected to attend two regional conferences:

A communications-focused conference in Manila

A cryptocurrency and fintech conference in Bali

In both cases, the networking was purposeful and productive — reinforcing the value of being present in rooms where ideas cross borders.

Besides, we also took time out to “sharpen our saw” – one in March at Growth Academy, a HRDC conference for trainers and another in November, a facilitation masterclass by Pepe Nummi, the CEO and founder of Grape People.

Plus we also revamped a couple of clients’ websites. Our clients have been with us for a long time and every few years, we recommend a complete overhaul of their websites to keep things running smoothly.

Communities, Alliances & Women-Centered Spaces

Community-building continued to be a strong thread throughout the year:

WE-WAVE: A regional alliance for MSME women that I founded with my Fijian friend, Sharyne Fong. WE-WAVE stands for Women Entrepreneurs World Alliance for Ventures and Empowerment, designed to create cross-border expertise exchange and business transactions in ASEAN and the Pacific. Become a member today.

Movers & Makers with SITI Network
We created and ran three Movers and Makers events for women in partnership with SITi Network in Penang, offering space for connection, learning and shared momentum.

2026 Vietnam Cruise Retreat for Women Leaders
As our work deepened this year, one theme kept surfacing: the need for intentional space — away from daily noise — to think, connect, and reset direction. Building on our collaborations across the region, we’ve begun planning an exclusive women leaders’ retreat in Vietnam, scheduled for 17 to 20 September 2026, in partnership with our partners from India and Vietnam. Designed for 25 women leaders and entrepreneurs, the retreat will bring together thoughtful conversations, strategic reflection and cross-border connection in a slower, more meaningful setting. The best part? We’re focusing on our cultural diversity as a strength. It’s a retreat produced by Asian women for Asian women. This retreat marks a natural next step in our work — moving into immersive experiences that support women not just in building businesses, but in shaping the kind of leadership and lives they want to lead with an Asian cultural advantage. Email us if you’d like to be kept updated.

AI Conversations, Big Timer Club & More

Behind the scenes, we’re also excited about the potential of AI for businesses and thinking about future-ready foundations.

Our training and programs on storytelling, creativity and podcasting are now HRDC-claimable courses, making them more accessible to SMEs in Malaysia.

We began exploring AI agents and workflows — first to support our own work and to help clients operate more effectively through our Big Timer Club.

With Digital Confluence, we created Your Year By Design, a reflective and forward-looking experience to help women envision a more fulfilling 2026. We will be running this program again in November next year.

We wrote an ebook on our visibility formula (coming soon), teaching business owners how to intentionally leverage visibility to attract opportunities, collaborations and growth.

This year reminded us that meaningful work isn’t built overnight — it’s built through experiments, partnerships, conversations and showing up even when the outcome isn’t fully clear. However, it’s also about selecting the right partners and working with the right people and organizations that truly align with our values and goals.

While we are digital first and foremost, we believe in creating more human interactions because this is where the magic happens. Communities, conversations and collaborations – that’s what Redbox Studio remains committed to!

Thank you to everyone who collaborated, participated and believed in what we’re building. Here’s to continuing the work, together.

As we move into 2026 and you’re interested in our work, here are some ways we can work together:

For Trainers & Facilitators
If you’re a trainer and interested in using Big Timer in your team-building or strategy workshops, get on the waitlist for our upcoming Trainer’s Edition.

For Women in Business
If you’re a woman entrepreneur or MSME founder in the region, explore WE-WAVE, our regional alliance for women in business — sign up for free.

For HR Leaders & People Managers
If you’re a HR manager looking for innovative, HRDC-claimable training in storytelling, creativity, podcasting or strategy, check out our programs.

You can have the sharpest frameworks, years of experience and beautifully designed slides — and still watch your participants disengage the moment the workshop or training session turns theoretical.

This is the gap that game-based learning fills.

Strategy Is Meant to Be Experienced

In many organisations, strategy is presented as something to understand intellectually.

But in real life, strategy is shaped by:

Choices

Trade-offs

Conversations

Consequences

Game-based learning using our Big Timer game allows your participants to experience those dynamics in a safe, facilitated environment — without the risks of real-world mistakes.

For trainers and facilitators, this changes everything.

What Trainers Need Today

We are HRDC certified trainers. We speak from experience and we have friends who are trainers; many have decades of training experience. Trainers tell us the same things:

“My participants are tired of chalk-and-talk and theories.”

“They want to talk about their challenges and it has to be a two-way dialogue during training.”

“They learn best when they can experience it for themselves.”

Game-based learning meets those needs by:

Turning abstract concepts into tangible decisions

Creating shared language through play (and having fun!)

Encouraging reflection, conversations and insights — it’s active learning at its best!

Introducing the Big Timer™ Trainers’ Edition

We created the Big Timer™ Trainers’ Edition for trainers, facilitators and consultants who want to deliver training in a way that feels practical, engaging and relevant. Our game can be used as part of teambuilding sessions (incorporate it as part of your workshop) or it can be used to kickstart conversations about business challenges and entrepreneurial thinking among teams.

Big Timer™ is a game-based framework that helps teams explore strategic decision-making by focusing on three fundamental aspects of business:

Customers

Products

Retail

When you use the Big Timer game to train your participants, you facilitate conversations about making choices in the context of business and understanding the consequences that comes with each choice.

The learning emerges naturally because it’s experienced, not instructed. We believe adult learners are capable of deriving their own insights by playing the game. Insights derived through personal realizations are remembered long after the workshop is over!

Only For Trainers Who Want to Differentiate Their Work

Being a trainer is common enough in Malaysia so equipping yourself with a tool and strategy helps you become more marketable as a trainer.

The Big Timer™ Trainers’ Edition is helps you gain an edge over your competitors by leveraging a tool – a game of cards created by us at Redbox Studio – to grow your training business.

The Big Timer game is a tool you can integrate into:

Leadership programs

Strategy workshops

Team alignment or teambuiilding sessions

Use the Big Timer game to:

Reduce reliance on slides

Increase participation and energy in the room

Differentiate yourself with a game-based experience

Deliver strategy conversations that actually stick

Game-based learning isn’t a trend. It’s a response to how adults actually learn.

If you’d like to stand out today as an exceptional trainer, you need to design exceptional and memorable experiences for your participants.

You need to facilitate insights, not download information (which they can find easily using AI). Your role is to create an innovative and interactive space for teams to think, decide and reflect together.

Join Our Trainers’ Edition Workshop

We work with a small number of trainers as partners who want to integrate Big Timer™ into their workshops and programs. We welcome internal or in-house trainers too.

If you’re a trainer or facilitator exploring game-based learning — or looking for a new way to deliver strategy, teach business ideas or facilitate teambuilding with impact — please fill this form. We will inform you when our trainers’ edition workshop is available.

Whenever I travel—whether it’s for a holiday or a conference—I have a small ritual. Tucked into my bag are a few thank-you cards and some simple treats: chocolates, nutmeg sweets or sometimes Malaysian coffee sachets.

It’s nothing fancy. But it’s intentional.

Over the years, I’ve met many kind, hardworking people while staying in Airbnbs and hotels. Housekeepers who greet you with a smile even after a long day. Front desk staff who solve problems calmly despite a queue of impatient guests. People who do their jobs quietly and consistently, often without recognition.

Before I leave, I usually take a few minutes to write a short note in a thank-you card—just a few lines to acknowledge their friendliness, their effort and the care they put into their work. I pass it to them with a small gift.

I do this because I genuinely believe that very few people truly understand how tough some jobs are. Hotel and hospitality staff, in particular, deal with all kinds of people passing through—kind ones, cranky ones, entitled ones and everything in between. Yet they’re expected to remain professional, calm and warm at all times.

Some might ask, “You’ll never see these people again. Why does it matter?”

And they’re right. I may never see them again. But that’s not the point.

What matters is that, in that moment, someone noticed. Someone saw that they did a good job and took the time to compliment them. Being seen and appreciated changes how you feel about your work. When someone recognizes your effort, it often motivates you to show up even better the next time.

I was reminded of this again during my recent trip to Phuket.

I stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton Phuket Banthai along Patong Beach, and one cheerful hotel staff member named Nicky truly made my stay phenomenal. From happily waiting for our conference delegates at the Phuket airport, to making sure my friend and I received our 25% discount for cocktails, he went above and beyond in ways that felt genuinely thoughtful rather than transactional.

He didn’t have to do any of that but he did.

Before I left, I wrote him a thank-you note and passed it to him with some chocolates. I hope he continues to be the sunshine for the many guests who pass through DoubleTree Hilton, just as he was for us.

This practice of appreciation isn’t new for me. More than ten years ago, I once left a positive note and a glowing review for a wait staff at a local café. I didn’t think much of it at the time—it just felt like the right thing to do. The next time I visited the café, I saw her again. She had been promoted to a junior manager position.

Was my note the reason? Maybe. Maybe not.

But it reminded me that small acts of kindness have a way of rippling outward in ways we don’t always get to see.

The power of doing something nice simply because you can is something all of us hold. It doesn’t require a big budget, a grand gesture or public recognition. Sometimes, it’s just a handwritten note, a sincere thank you, and a small token that says, “I see you.”

So the next time you travel, consider packing a few thank-you cards and some sweets or even a packet of Malaysian coffee. You never know who might need to hear that they did a great job and how far that small moment of appreciation might go.

Your website is one of your most powerful marketing tools but how do potential clients actually find it? In the past, search engines primarily relied on keywords and links. The websites we designed for clients have always ranked in the first position and first page of search engine results. But that was 10 years ago.

Today, things have changed. AI is transforming search, meaning the way people discover your business is changing fast. As a quick example, Click Through Rates are dropping because people are reading AI Summaries – content summaries which now appear on the search page, enabling you to get answers without ever going to a website if you don’t want to! In fact, there is even a phrase we’ve heard called Zero Click era which means there will be zero clicks to your website.

Simply put, people are clicking less online to visit websites because of AI Summaries and AI Overviews. (I find this to be true when I observe my own online behaviour when I am searching for a product or business. I am already informed when I read AI Summaries!)

How does this affect your business findability and your website performance? This is why we want you to understand this shift – and it’s happening whether you like it or not – and understand how you can keep your website relevant and visible.

How Can I Make My Website More Visible?

Customers typically find your website through:

Search engines: Google and Bing use AI to interpret questions, not just match keywords.

Social media links: Posts, shares and mentions direct traffic back to your website.

Referrals and recommendations: Other websites, blogs or forums that reference your business.

While Zero Clicks or reduced website visits are happening, there’s one thing that you can do to control how your information shows up in AI Summaries. It’s important to regularly refresh your website with new and relevant content (if not weekly, then at least monthly).

It doesn’t have to be massive content changes – just a few paragraphs will help too – projects you’ve won and completed, new milestones, additional awards or certifications or events you’ve spoken at. If you have a blog, upload at least two articles a month. AI still relies on combing websites to find the most relevant information!

Did we mention that AI helped our client close a deal? Her website showed up in a ChatGPT answer (among other answers) but her prospect clicked to her website, liked what he saw and immediately messaged her. She eventually closed the deal!

How AI Influences Search
AI-powered search engines analyze user intent. This means:

Prospects may not type exact phrases – they ask questions in natural language (the language that we speak and write in).

AI highlights content that is clear, concise, and informative.

Websites that demonstrate credibility and relevance are more likely to appear in AI-generated results.

That’s why our client closed the deal. Her website had the right content and credibility and ChatGPT might have felt the same way too and extracted information from her website, showing it to her prospective client.

Small Wins You Can Take This Week:

Audit one page for clarity: Read a page from a customer’s perspective. Is it easy to understand? Does it answer common questions? Do you need to refresh or update the content of this page? Do you need to include more case studies or examples?

Add one simple Call-To-Action: If you don’t already have a Call-To-Action, add one. Encourage visitors to explore other pages, sign up for updates or contact you. Remember, tell people what to do next when they’re on your website.

Actionable Tip
Even a small update to your content can help AI understand your website better. For example, elaborating about Services page or adding a short 3 bullet summary to the top of a lengthy page can make a difference in how your website appears in AI-driven searches.

Staying visible today means thinking beyond traditional SEO. It means taking into account AI search and AI overviews.

As a business owner, you must ensure your website continues to stay credible and relevant so that AI can extract the right information. Start making small content improvements regularly and ensure your content is clear, specific and easy to understand. This strategy will help your website remain a strong marketing hub even as AI reshapes how people search for information.

In the Big Timer Club that we will be launching in 2026, we will focus on AI in business, how to adapt your website for maximum visibility and how to leverage AI so that you won’t miss out. Apply to join and stay ahead of the curve!
