The world of wrestling has changed quite a bit over the past couple of years. While many athletes impress us with their bouts in the ring today, there are a few men who are legends. Wrestlers of today pale in comparison to some of these all-time British wrestling heroes.

In this post we take a walk down memory lane and look back on some of Britain’s biggest wrestling stars.

1. Big Daddy

It’s hard to believe that this legendary wrestler’s name was Shirley Crabtree. The ex-miner and Coldstream Guard is heralded as a true legend of professional wrestling in the UK.

2. Giant Haystacks

His birthname is Martin Ruane, and he was also a tag partner of Big Daddy back in the day. The two became rivals. He would have made a comeback with Hulk Hogan, but sadly contracted cancer and passed away.

3. Pat Roach

Pat Roach is fondly remembered as an actor. He struggled to gain traction with the crowds, but that was a thing of the past after he landed a role in Indiana Jones. Roach passed away at the age of 67.

4. Catweazle

Gary Cooper, or Catweazle as he was known in the ring, died of cancer at the age of 53. He is remembered for his great techniques and imaginary gimmicks, including licking a lucky toad.

5. Brian Glover

Brian Glover was known as Leon Arras, the Man from Paris. As other wrestlers featured on the list he found fame in acting on tv and movies, including Alien 3. He passed away at the age of 63.

6. Jackie Pallo

Jackie Pallo is known for creating some signature moves such as the cross-shoulder backbreaker. He had an 11-year grudge with McManus, and later turned to acting. This incredible legend passed away in 2006.

7. Mick McManus

One bout between Mick McManus and Jackie Pallo is said to have attracted 20 million fans. Mick retired in 1983, and worked in public relations. He passed away in 2013 at the age of 93.

8. Harvey Smith

We think of Harvey Smith as one of the best showjumpers who flicked the V-sign occasionally. He released a single in 1975, True Love, and currently owns stables in Bingley.

Did you enjoy our recap of some of the UKs most memorable wrestlers? Which of these wrestlers do you remember watching on the telly? While there are many memorable heroes, these men played a big part in the future of wrestling.

Many people are not even aware of the fact that they can bet on WWE. While regular sports betting is based on chance and the physical ability of teams, WWE is scripted, which means winners are pre-determined. That doesn’t mean that everyone knows what’s going to happen though!

In this guide we’ll provide some information that will get you started at betting on WWE. While it is entertaining to watch wrestling, it can be even more exhilarating when you punt on it!

Benefits of Betting on WWE

There are quite a few of benefits you can expect when you decide to start punting on WWE:

It is Entertaining

It is not only entertaining to watch, but also fun to punt on. While a lot of people wager to win and grow their bankroll, it can be fun to place a bet and see whether your prediction was correct or not.

It Offers Value

Sportsbooks limit the amount you can bet on WWE, yet you are still able to win more than enough while wagering on WWE. It’s ideal for recreational punting and you can make the most out of limits on bets.

Limited Risk Involved

Sportsbooks limit the amount punters can punt on, which is a safety measure for them. This means that you, the bettor, have limited risk when placing bets on WWE. In essence, your losses are also limited.

Different Types of Bets

As with other types of sports betting, you will also be able to place some different types of bets when betting on WWE. The one difference between WWE betting and other sports betting is that the types of betting are all pretty straight forward and easy to learn.

First-Time Winner

This type of prop bet is paid out when you’ve correctly predicted that there will be a first-time winner. It’s quite fun and engaging if you opt for a first-time winner bet with minimum losses and wins.

First to Appear

This bet allows you to bet on choosing a specific wrestler you think will appear on the show first. In other words, you won’t be betting on who wins or loses, simply who arrives first at the ring.

Longest Ring Time

Another straightforward prop bet that allows you to bet on which wrestler would outlast with the longest ring time. It can be quite fun, but also can be cut short if you’re wrong.

Bout Outcome

This type of prop bet on WWE wagering is plenty of fun and allows you to bet on exactly how the events will roll out. In other words, you don’t bet on a winner, but on how the events unfolded up to the end.

As you can see, WWE wagering is pretty easy, it’s fun, and offers punters a unique opportunity to win while enjoying one of the most engaging sports out there. Not sure where to start wagering on WWE? Read our list on the top eight casinos where you’ll be able to do so. Good luck, but most importantly, have fun!

Wrestling is a fantastic sport and can be very difficult to get into if you’re only starting now. While it can be exciting to watch the pros, they’ve refined their techniques and poses to a tee. Only with practice and dedication will you be able to perfect your wrestling techniques.

Don’t be discouraged though, we’ve compiled some great tips for beginner’s out there that is sure to get you off to a great start!

1. How to Stand

There are two basic stances in wrestling:

Square Stance

Stand with both your feet parallel to each other and your weight distributed evenly.

Staggered Stance

Stand with one foot slightly in front of the other. Here, most of your weight must be placed on the front foot.

In both stances your feet should be a bit wider apart than shoulder width, and knees and hips should be bent slightly

2. Penetrating Shot

To carry out this technique, you have to be in a staggered stance while lowering your body towards the mat. Shifting the weight to your back foot, move ahead with your lead foot towards your opponent. Press forward, bend and land on the front knee while moving forward and grabbing your opponent’s leg.

3. How to Lift Your Opponent

Lifting is done to take opponents down. Stand to the side of or behind your opponent. Wrap your arms around his waist and lock your hands. Next, you’ll pull him closer to you while lowering your hips. Finally, you’ll push through your legs and start lifting him.

4. How to Pin Your Opponent

This common pin move is called a half nelson. While your opponent is face-down on the wrestling mat, pull either your left or right arm under his left or right armpit. You will use your free hand and arm to place your palm on the back of his head. Now lift his arm with your arm.

5. How to Escape from Your Opponent

This technique is for moving from a bottom position to a standing position. Your opponent will be on top. Move your foot in the opposite direction of your opponent, then lift your knee and plant your foot on the mat. Lean into your opponent and push on your foot to be in a standing position.

There you have it! It’s best to go for professional training as a trainer will be able to guide you and ensure your stances and technique is perfect. Trying these techniques alone may lead to injury so don’t try it without having a professional around!
