Having constant prayer and Creator directed visions helps us to live in harmony. This is the best way to grow strong and become a Warrior. No matter what is going on outside of ourselves, it is our projection that makes it so. It is our projections that even give it any meaning. Another way is each day to turn our life and our will over to the care of the Great Spirit. Then He will show us His desire for us. To experience the Unseen World we need to know about principles, laws and values; and no matter what our mind or our physical senses tell us, we must decide and act on these principles. Or as my Dear One would say in Blackfoot -Oki! It has been a few months since I have written, and the Good Captain reminded me to post so here it is.

Well its been an interesting year to say the least. Separation, breakdown, rebirth, love, and awareness. It is the beginning of the awareness stage in which I am at on my walk. It is an amazing feeling. Not only to experience the surroundings of nature, but the self surroundings as well. To be aware that emotional pain and suffering is only the ego fighting and manifesting itself to secure what it wants. The insecurities of the self that loves to come out and acknowledging why this is. The quest for enlightenment may not be easy, and may never come to me. But I know to just keep putting one foot in front of the other and being aware on my walk through this life is what I must do.

Just picked up a book "Wisdom of the Peaceful Warrior" by Dan Millman. If you have not read "The Way fo the Peaceful Warrior", I Highly suggest it and the rest of the series. The Wisdom is a companion book to The Way. I will be sharing my thoughts on this book on future posts.

Be Well and Safe to you all!

Teachings by Long Standing Bear Chief, Blackfoot

Believe in the beauty and strength our your own being. Forget the foolish belief that you and your fellow human beings were born evil. Those who would control you all the days of your life on earth perpetuate the belief iihtsipaitapiiyo?pa (Source of Life) made things to have a bad spirit.

Live a life of truth and honesty. This makes you a person of quality and dignity. Truth and honesty are the kind of leadership qualities that attracts others.

Give honor and respect to others regardless of age and situation in life. This quality makes you and others worthy of honor and respect, which makes others, feel worthwhile and fulfilled. Honor and respect empowers others so they can win the day. They will return it to you fourfold.

Honor the earth and all that exists. Be strong in this belief and practice it throughout your life because it makes for a world of kindness that binds all the good things of life together in a circle of harmony.

Be humble but not timid. To be humble is to connect yourself to the stars and the entire universe and makes you aware there is something unique about life that is to be enjoyed without fear. We are people from the stars and because of it we are sacred.

Help others realize that life is a dream . . . . A beautiful dream. Dreamers are the butterflies of life and help others to realize their dreams.

Be humorous and help others to enjoy life and the life of others. Humor makes you attractive. The humorous person has many guests and the one who is invited everywhere because of the joy they bring to the gathering.

Never be afraid to talk matters over with those you disagree with or those you love. The gift of language is a miracle and it is meant to be used to live a life of harmony, joy, love, and respect. Use it well and use it often.

What is described here is leadership and happiness in the broadest sense. These are the qualities that make for a great father, grandmother, mother, teacher, grandfather, lover, traditional leader, friend and a great human being. A Council Fire forms a circle, not a line or a square. When we move to the side, we still sit at the Fire with our Brothers and Sisters, but as we move away from one we move toward another. The circle, like the Dream Hoop, brings us ever back to where we start. Any time words of respect and love are spoken, they will return as given. A harsh word runs forever in the circle, eventually vanishing from the wear against itself. Love settles within the Circle, embracing it and thereby lasting forever, turning within itself. The Medicine Wheel is the circle of life, starting with birth and continuing through out our life's until death, when we have gone full circle. The Medicine wheel has four Direction, each direction offering it's own lessons, color, and animal guide. There are two paths shown which cross in the center, at which point for me is the heart. (for when you work from your heart, you can reach all directions.) The path from East to West is the path of spirits, (the Blue Road) the path from South to North is our physical Walk (the Red Road ).

East - beginnings, purity, family, innocence, amazement of Life
South - youth - passions of life, friendships, self-control
West - Adulthood - solitude, stillness, going inside oneself, reflection
North type="text">Remark of the day

Greetings to you all! Ok to the 2 or 3 people that actually read this blog. Just wanted to write some of the random thoughts as of late. Its amazing how the Great Spirit works. Everything happens for a reason. Each path taken, a series of lessons to learn. Each person that crosses your path, even for a moment, having an effect on your life. Each friend that you have made, even if you are no longer in contact with, helping shape who you are. But it is those friends that have made a difference in your life, that have touched your heart and soul in some way that I hold dear and will never forget for as long as I live. Thank you to my dearest friends for helping me on my path and for being there when I needed you most. And in reference to my previous post, that is love.

Love and Attachment

Something I've had for awhile and never posted....

LOVE AND ATTACHMENT

"...there is a difference between loving-kindness in the sense of wishing
beings to be happy, and being personally attached to someone. When we are
attached to someone, they can seem very close, and the kind of involvement
that is based on attachment is what we use the word "love" to mean. This
type of love is very different in nature from the type of love that is based
on altruistic concern. In the type of love that is based upon attachment,
you may have thoughts like, "Oh, I would die for you," and so on. This
seems very altruistic, but is all fundamentally based upon attachment to
that person as a part of your world.

The love that is based on attachment is not really love at all, because it
is fundamentally self-serving. The sign of this is that as long as that
person or those persons serve the function that you want them to have in
your world, as long as they do for you what you want, then you seem to love
them so much. Then as soon as they stop being what you want them to be, the
love vanishes. This means it was not love at all, it was attachment. What
we mean by actual love here is a concern for the welfare of other beings
that is completely devoid of any kind of "payback" personally, and that has
nothing whatsoever to do with hoping that that person will act a certain way
toward you and fearing that they will not."

-- "Living in Compassion" by Ven. Bardor Tulku Rinpoche

Note: - Take it from me - this kind of love is incredibly damaging and fraught with danger and despair and failure. One cannot survive this type of non-love love. You are leaving yourself open to failure and disappointment and heartache if you are in this type of relationship. There is no healthy way out of this attachment so when you find yourself at the threshold of loss, it is best that you do not fight it but let it happen and learn from it.
I have lived my whole life fighting the principals of attachment calling it love when really what it was a desperate connection to non-life. All of the many women in my life except one were facilitators of this attachment and the causation of such incredible pain that I would have rather suffered the incredible torture meted out by Hitler and his henchmen in the years of War that were a direct result of attachment.
You cannot live in this type of attachment calling it love. It is not Love it is a slow death that never leaves you alone and will eventually destroy you unless you learn and bring yourself out of that life to one full of a few friends who know the difference between attachment and love.
I am now where I sought to be for more than fifty years and I can tell all that this is an incredible fate that not everyone is allowed to encounter. I know I run long here but this is not something to take lightly and if you want Truth in your life come visit me and I will help you to see it before it is too late. ( If indeed you are ready to see it and make the change happen that will be required for full freedom from the suffering that makes up this samsara.) -Aho- Two Feathers<div Neither I nor anything I attempt to do, will work without the Creator. Being Indian and being spiritual has the same meaning. Spirituality is out gift from the Great One. This day, I vow to walk the Red Road. As an Indian man, I will return to the traditional and spiritual values which have guided my ancestors for the past generations. I will look with new eyes on the powers of our ceremonies and religious ways, for they are important to the very survival of our people. We have survived and are going to grow and flourish spiritually. We will fulfill our teachings and the purpose that the Creator has given us with dignity. Each day, I will pray and ask for guidance. I will commit to walk the Red Road, or whatever the spiritual way is called in my own culture. If I am Christian, I will be a good one. If I am traditional, I will walk this road with dedication. If each if us can do these things then others will follow. From this day forward, I will reserve time and energy for spirituality, seeking to know the Creators will.
