I liked <br />them so much I made them for SL. The first is today's release, <br />"Jessica" (named after Ms. Alba, of course). I will be taking <br />advantage of the US holiday to release Amber on Monday - two releases <br />in one week! <p /> Jessica is a sheath dress with a black leather yoke. It comes with <br />black stockings and gold earrings, as worn by Ms. Alba. It comes on <br />all layers and is mod-copy as usual. So instead you're getting a <br />re-release of one of my better products from a couple years ago. <p /> Darlene is a short-sleeved knit top with a crossover design, with <br />stripes alternating between the main color and a sparkly gold. Each <br />package pairs two complementary colors of top with a matching pair of <br />jeans. The tops come on all three layers, and the jeans come with both <br />straight-cut and boot-cut on the pants layer, and also on the <br />underpants layer. <p /> The red and pink set will be 10L in-world for one week only. Gown is a long satin gown with a high bateau <br />neckline, a bare back, and lace sleeves. The dress comes with optional <br />sleeve inserts which can be worn underneath the lace, giving you a two <br />looks for the price of one. While intended for evening wear, it would <br />also make an excellent bridesmaid dress. <p /> The bodice comes on jacket, shirt, and undershirt layers, with sleeve <br />inserts on the undershirt and tattoo layers. The green and purple ones come with a <br />gold cape instead of silver, but you can recolor the capes. A notecard <br />is included with both cape colors (and all the shoe colors, in case <br />you recolor those). <p /> Additionally, I checked the Marketplace terms and discovered that the <br />proposed fees that caused me to withdraw my items from XStreetSL never <br />materialized (they just increased the commissions to 5%). The store is undergoing major renovations, with all old <br />products removed until I can take new photographs and set them up with <br />my new vendor system. In addition, the satellite store in Pini now has <br />a larger location just up the hill - I've got a couple products in the <br />little kiosk with a teleporter to the big store. <p /> I'm now using the fairly widely-known vendor system from Bejambled <br />(BSM). This means that all customers automatically get rewards points <br />for every item they buy, and you start earning rewards immediately, <br />unlike some stores. <p /> You'll also see that the style of my pictures has changed - dark <br />backgrounds instead of white, and with a new font - no more Papyrus <br />for me! <p /> Finally, I have changed my pricing policy from the "upload fees only" <br />policy I had previously to a "100L per outfit" policy. I intend to <br />apply to some of the sales groups here in SL (60L Weekends, Steals and <br />Deals, maybe some others), and they have a minimum regular price level. <p /> And now, the new outfits! <p /> First, we have a latex space suit called Wanderlust in purple and <br />gold, originally created for a friend as a custom outfit for a <br />science-fiction themed party back in May. It's actually been available <br />at the main store since then, but I haven't made a formal announcement <br />before. Other colors will be coming soon. <p /> Next, we have "Bespin," a dress and cape inspired by Empire Strikes <br />Back. This outfit consists of a tunic-length maroon dress, a <br />silver-blue cape, slightly sheer leggings or stockings, and ballerina <br />flats. It's not an exact duplicate of the outfit worn by Princess Leia <br />in the Cloud City, but it looks reasonably close, I think. For those <br />who want the rest of the style, the hair is from Curl Up n Dye, the <br />shape is Body Doubles' Carrie Fisher shape (sadly no longer <br />available), and the skin is a custom mod of the F-series templates <br />from Eloh Elliot. <p /> Finally, we have a series of five 24th-Century Starfleet Uniforms, <br />based on the famous TV series. These come in the three canonical <br />colors, plus two non-canonical colors (purple and green). Each uniform <br />comes with a set of jacket overlays with rank pips and an optional <br />communications badge. You can wear whichever rank you want, and wear <br />the versions with badges if you don't have a prim badge (or you don't <br />want to wear it). <p /> As always, all outfits are copy-mod, non-transfer. Most tutorials I have seen involve Photoshop. Additionally, even the Photoshop tutorials are very limited, and the clothing produced looks flat and painted-on. Sadly, you can see a lot of clothing in Second Life, even from professional creators, that looks like this.<p /> But it&#39;s not that difficult to make clothing that actually looks <b>good</b>. You don&#39;t have to be able to hand-paint individual wrinkles or shadows. And you don&#39;t have to spend hundreds of dollars on Photoshop. Pick the Front path of your template, then Path to Selection. Then choose Filters-&gt;Light and Shadow-&gt;Drop Shadow. Choose 4 and 4 for the offsets. Make sure Allow Resizing is OFF - this is important! Then choose OK. Now do the same for the Back path, except set the X Offset to -4. It's easy now. Choose the Base Color layer, Duplicate Layer, and flood-fill the new layer with a new color. (You'll probably want to name each layer with the color name). Do it for as many colors as you want. Hide your texturing and bevel layers. Drop in the Rib Knit.jpg image. This is one of the many thousands of samples from the Filterforge website (just search for "Rib Knitted Fabric"). This version is already grey, but if you have a colored texture you can desaturate it yourself (just like you did to the Blue Web texture). For this texture, Grain Merge at 50% looks good. In the color picker, choose a 50% gray color - 0 Hue, 0 Saturation, 50 Value (or 128/128/128 on the RGB). Create a new layer called Beveled Edge, and fill it with the 50% gray. Find your Template Test layer and choose Alpha to Selection. Select the gray layer again, then pick Filters-&gt;Decor-&gt;Add Bevel. Choose Thickness 2, and <strong>uncheck</strong> the "Work on copy" box (which will copy the entire GIMP file). Now, in Layer Mode, pick the Hard Light option. This adds a subtle edge to the garment. Pick a color, and flood-fill the layer with that color. Right click on the layer, choose Add Layer Mask, pick Channel and the channel you just made. Make the shading layer visible. The first thing you need to do is to define the outline of the garment. While I usually do this in a vector-drawing program called Inkscape, you can also do this in GIMP using the Path tool. You can also buy commercial templates of varying quality from other creators, if you wish.<p /> Make sure the white background, the Robin Wood grid, and the Edge Matching Guide are visible. You might want to use zoom to focus just on the front part of the torso. Choose the Path tool, and start laying out your outline. It's perfectly OK to go outside the grid here (just don't go into the back or arm area). When you cross the edge of the template, try to make sure it's exactly between two colors of the edge-matching guide. In order to close the curve, control-click on the first point. Experiment with doing curves by dragging handles (using control-drag on a node). When doing the back, make sure your path crosses the edges at the same points as the front - using the colors of the edge-matching guide to help you. Click on your first path and pick Path to Selection. Choose the Fill Tool, foreground color (black). Click inside the path. Then do the same for your back path (on the same Template Test layer). Hide everything except this layer, and choose File-&gt;Save A Copy. In the save dialog, name it with a .TGA extension, and choose the defaults for all the dialogs. This will give you a simple black test texture. You can upload this into SL (use Emerald or Imprudence to upload a temporary copy, or do this in the beta grid), or you can use the SL Clothes Previewer to see what your template looks like. In particular, pay attention to the seams, to see if they match up right. If they don't quite match up, adjust your path, recreate the Template Test layer, and check it again. Choose Layer-&gt; New from Visible. Move this to just above the background, and turn everything off except this and the background. Save your work.<p /> Open up the upper Chip Midnight Template. Make sure you have both files open so you can see both windows. We're going to drag layers from Chip Midnight's template onto the master template you're creating. I pretty much only use the Edge Matching Guide from this template. Right Click on this layer and select Layer to Image Size. This is important, or it won't line up correctly when you drag it to your other image. Then drag and drop the layer onto your master template. You can drag other layers if you think they're useful, using the same steps. There are a few of these available freely or semi-freely, and you can buy others from XStreet. I usually use this in conjunction with a second which adds additional definition to the breasts, but the second one is not free.<p /> Drop the female-baked-torso onto your master template and move it to the top. It's only 512x512, so our first step is to fix that. Right Click, choose Scale Layer, set it to 1024x1024, and choose the highest quality (Sinc). Secondly, because this is a JPG, it does not have an alpha channel (transparency). Fix that by right-clicking and choosing "Add Alpha Channel." Now, in the Layer Mode dropdown, choose Multiply. This will be your master file for all future creations, so make a backup as well. If you acquire additional shading layers and the like, you may wish to drop them onto this master template so you don't have to hunt for them. You might also choose to watermark your textures by putting a logo in the lower left hand corner (on the legs template, the lower right hand corner is the best place).
