If you’re looking for some family fun in a safe environment, visit Pier Park this Saturday for Boo at the Beach, a prelude to Halloween! The festivities start at 10am and end at 2pm. Kids can enjoy activities such as the Hay Bale Maze, Pumpkin Carving, Arts & Crafts, and spooky stories! There will also be a Pet Costume Contest and a childs costume contest. So be sure to visit Pier Park this Saturday, October 24th from 10am to 2pm. See you there!!

Camp Helen has spook!

This past weekend Camp Helen State Park held their fourth annual Ghost Walk. Visitors for this event parked over at the Winn-Dixie to wait in a line full of anxious people waiting to be spooked, from Walton to Bay county. Shuttle buses brought us to the park and on arrival we had a tour guide lead us to different historical ghostly stories around the trail… including pirates sword fighting with the children and singing to the crowd in perfect pirate harmony. The stories were of Capt. Phillip (Phillip’s Inlet) , the Camp Helen sea monster, and the early years how the camp was put together. One of the ladies who helped build the main lodge was one of the story tellers. Everyone was treated to witches brew and cookies before the shuttle took us back to our cars.

THUNDER BEACH AUTUMN RALLY

You could feel the good vibrations all over Panama City Beach for the autumn rally! The pipes were loud and the people were proud. Many locals and visitors were reved up waiting for this wild weekend to begin. There were fantastic bikes as far as the eye could see! And too many events to mention. The favorite places were packed as usual, such as Ms. Newbys and Rockit Lanes, with happy people getting together to share stories and make new memories. We were blessed here at Regency Towers with some exceptionally wonderful and kind people which allowed me to photograph them. I was also fortunate enough to find folks at Rockit Lanes that were equally as generous in allowing me to photograph them. In addition, a few locals extended me this courtesy while enjoying this much anticipated event. So I will leave you all to enjoy the photos now. As they say, a picture speaks a thousand words! Hope to see everyone again next year!!

CRUSIN’ ON THE BAY

The United Nations International Day of Peace, marked every year on September 21st, is a global holiday when individuals, communities, nations, and governments highlight efforts to end conflict and promote peace worldwide. Since its inception, Peace Day has marked our personal and planetary progress toward peace. Established by the United Nations resolution in 1982, “Peace Day” has grown to include millions of people around the world who participate in all kinds of events, large and small. Events range in scale from private gatherings to public concerts and forums where hundreds of thousands of people participate. Anyone anywhere can celebrate Peace Day. It can be as simple as lighting a candle at noon, or just sitting in silent meditation. So please take this opportunity to make peace in personal relationships as well as making a difference on a larger scale. And may we all be blessed with peace in our lives.

THUNDER BEACH IS ROLLING IN!

Thunder Beach starts September 24th in Panama City Beach! People from all over the world come to Panama City Beach to cruise around town, meet up with friends, visit favorite hangouts, and of course, to kick back on the beach. Several buisnesses on the beach have events and vendors set up for this extended weekend, such as Rockit Lanes in the Edgewater Shopping Center. Every year Rockit Lanes has live bands and too many vendors to list selling everything from leather halter tops to bike parts. Everyone is bound to find a wild time somewhere on this beach this weekend. And to everyone driving cars and trucks, please be aware of those on motorcycles. As they say “Motorcycles are Everywhere”. Thunder Beach starts Thursday, September 24th and ends Monday, September 28th this year. Do something that will benefit yourself and others. Get involved in one or all of the three marathons Panama city has coming up. This saturday is the Gulf Coast Sun Run at Pier park and it benefits GCCC Athletics and student athletes. Start your morning with a 10k or a 5k run begining at 8am , or join the 1 mile fun run/walk if your not up for the bigger challenge, which begins after the finish of the 10k. The following saturday ( Sept. 26th) is the 5k Bridge run/ 1 mile fun walk. This is located at Carl Grey park and proceeds will go towards Second Chance of N.W Florida inc. promoting Nat. Rehab Awareness Week. The entry fees for these events are easier on the pocket if recieved by Sept. 23rd.The Big Event is the last one for the fall… it the Ironman Triatholon November 7th. They hold this at the Boardwalk and it’s hugh tons of contestants tons of volunteers, the benefits of being apart of this in any way is hugh.

SEAFOOD WINE & MUSIC FESTIVAL

Good times will be had by all this year at the Seafood Wine & Music Festival at Frank Brown Park. The fun starts on Friday, October 9th at 4pm and the gates close at 11pm. Saturdays events will start at 11am and come to a close at 11pm. Sundays events start at 11am and the fun ends at 6pm Sunday evening. There will be amusement park rides, wine tasting, a bounce area for the little ones, a preview to the car show, live music every evening, lots of seafood from local restaraunts, and many vendors with their goods on display. On Friday evening John Anderson and Julianne Hough will be performing, Saturday evening the STYX will perform, and Sunday evening will feature Grand Funk Railroad.
