You won’t always feel strong. Neither did Jesus.

He wept for His friend Lazarus. He wept and sweat drops of blood in the garden.

Yet He overcame.

You know why?

Because even though he felt pain, He was determined… committed… and connected to the Source… Abba Father

And because He arose… you will rise too. I promise you… if you will only dare believe.

Do you?

If you will walk in love and righteousness. God will lead you….

My Chains Are Gone… I’ve Been Set Free is a post from: Reinvent YOUR Life with Alvin Slaughter

When I started in music ministry years ago, I didn’t do it because I wanted the world to hear my music.

I didn’t do it because I thought I had this amazing gift.

I was insecure (although I didn’t show it).

I was shy (but I worked through it).

I didn’t like my voice (but for some reason others were blessed).

I didn’t have any money, manager or record label.

I DID do it because I loved to make people feel encouraged and inspired and it was where I found God’s favor.

So in the middle of all the noise, distractions, disappointments and overwhelm, I did (and still do) seek to know and follow God’s plan for my life. Where His plan is… you will find favor.

What I DID have was an open door.

I didn’t have to force doors down. (You will have to ask sometimes and you will have to fight sometimes).

I didn’t have to beg someone to ask me to sing.

I simply followed the “star” and the doors that should have opened did and the ones that should have closed … closed.

i did have to overcome fear. I did have to take action. I did face disappointments. I did take responsibility for my own failure or success. I did have to grow and personally develop. But God never leaves us to figure it out by ourselves… never!

The question is…. are you open? Are you willing to learn from the past and grow?

The wise men followed a star. For you it may be a lamp unto your feet… a light to your path.

A connection. An unexpected opportunity. Are you ready for it or are you getting ready?

Yes, I love what I do.

Maya Angelou said, “You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you.”

So for 2010, stop struggling to make your way. Refocus and reinvent… and follow the star.

Wise men (and wise women) still seek Him.

I let go of perfection, knowing that it is an impossible goal. Instead, I embrace the goodness of who I am – faults and all. After all, only my God is perfect!

I set my self-improvement goals to specific, measurable levels that I know I can accomplish. I take realistic steps that lead to attainable goals. This way, I know I am getting better and better all the time. With each step I take, I am learning and growing, but I don’t have to be perfect.

I am happy with myself. I know that most of the time I do my best and I forgive myself for sometimes doing less. After all, no one is perfect, and that’s okay.

When I make a mistake, I admit it, do what I can to correct it, and learn from it. I realize that making mistakes is a natural part of being human. Rather than beating myself up about it, I move forward with no regrets.

I live in the moment. The past is done and the future is yet to come. What we have now is the present. This moment is what is real and I am a part of it. I am grateful for every precious moment and relish its possibilities.

Today, I plan to live life to its fullest, to enjoy each and every moment for what it can bring me, and I throw off the trappings of trying to exhibit perfection. I am what I am and that’s fine with me!

And should I fail? His grace will lead me on. Like the song says… I’ve come this far by faith.
