How to Renew Malaysia International Passport (MIP) at Malaysian High Commission in Brunei?

So if you're like me who had to renew your Malaysia International Passport (MIP) in Brunei and not at UTC in Miri due to Covid-19. The only place you can do it is at Malaysia High Commission at Bandar.

Document for Renewal

I've provided the list of documents that are required as per the below picture and also, they only accept passports that are going to expire within 6 months. Anything before that will be rejected non the less by the security first. The lists are in Malay, I'm lazy to translate, if you need me to then just comment below.

Why the security and not the officer?

In my point of view, they are the gatekeeper for your documents, insufficient documents will be rejected and to prevent congestion inside the office and slowing down others who are in line to renew their passport as well.

You will need to fill in a form for renewal, you can get it from the security and please bring the original copy of the document required in the list. Also if you're a guy, not sure about girls here, show your forehead in your passport size photo. Don't ask, I'm not too sure why.

What time does the office open for passport renewal?

If you hate waiting, try to come early and when I say early, it's 6 in the morning. I know the procedure starts at 9 as per the picture below. There are people who arrive as early as 5 and start lining up at the front gate. Do remember who arrived first as the security will start giving out numbers and check on your document at around 8:30. I was second in line and not counting waiting time while in the office, it took me around or maybe less than 10 minutes to get it done (with all your completed document to say).

Passport renewal will be in the morning session only, collection will be in the afternoon after three to four months which they will call you. When they ask for your phone number, they will as if you have a second number, if they don't, remember to give it. That's the only way they can contact you to collect your passport.

Super short post, just for me to remember when I'm doing this for my new post next time. I've got the idea from Bloguettes.com.

Pretty much if you want it to show up as a thumbnail for your post at the landing page but don't want it to show up inside the post.

This is basically how you do it:

Step 1:

After you uploaded the image, change to 'HTML' format and search for the div container of your uploaded image that you want to hide.

Step 2:

Add this line of code in the div style of the image.

display: none;

Step 3:

Revert back to 'Compose' and see the image go missing and you're done.

Where to Download High Quality Chinese Song?

It has been so long since I've updated this blog, this will just be a short post for me to remember the link. I've found this link somewhere on the internet but I can't remember where it was so I had to note this down. Every song is high quality which is 320 kbps.

They don't have all but almost all the popular Chinese song. Until now, I've still seen some new song been added regularly.

I will show a short procedure for you guys on how to use it and here's the link:

Step 1:

Search for the song that you wanted to download in the highlighted box.

Step 2:

Click on the song that you want to download, if it's not there, it means they didn't add the song that you wanted into their library. You will be redirected to the following pages.

Click on the same button twice and the download will starts.

You're only allowed to download one song at a time unless you pay for a membership account.

If you followed this DiGi Telecommunications - "How to setup DiGi Internet on your mobile phone" tutorial video on Youtube, this will effect you internet access not running, the symbol of internet running won't show.

The difference between the APN and in the Youtube video above is that APN type is set to default in the video, leave this blank and you internet will run properly again.

How to maintain your car battery to last longer?

A car battery is quite expensive if you have to change it every year. A good battery can cost you around $100 or more. Buying fuels is already a pain in the ass, what if you need to change the battery every year. If you have this problem, you've been doing it wrong all these years to maintain your car battery.

A good car battery with a perfectly maintained procedure can last you around 4 to 5 years. This has been tested by my father (he's a mechanic). Here are several solutions told by my father:

1. Buying a car battery

Normally, people would just buy a car battery already filled with battery acid/battery water. Never ever buy a filled car battery. Before buying, ask them to open the box, see if it's empty. Buy the one that is empty inside, then you can ask them to fill it with battery acid and charge it.

Why you shouldn't buy the one that has already been filled with battery acid?

If you filled a car battery with battery acid and let it sit there without working or without continuous charging and discharging, this could damage the plate inside the battery.

Same as a fat person sitting at home, watching television while eating and never go outside to exercise. He either die early with diabetes or a heart attack. This is what my dad always says.

2. Placing the battery terminal

Some mechanics out there will force the terminal into the negative and positive post by hammering. This will damage the battery. Never ever let them or yourself do this. Just pry the terminal open with a screwdriver, gently wiggle the connector until it is fully in.

Hammering the battery can cause the plate inside the battery to be damaged which shorten the life of the battery to work properly.

3. Maintain the charging voltage

Normally your car's alternator and regulator should be charging the battery with a voltage of around 14.4V. If it doesn't reach around that voltage, you should either change the alternator or the regulator

4. Battery acid level

Never let the battery acid level be lower than the indicated level. The plate inside the battery not in contact with the acid can cause the plate to overheat or may also melt the plate. Furthermore, damaging your car battery and shortening the life span

How much does it cost to get a Driving License in Brunei?

As teenager reaches 18 years old, they will just rush their parent to help them get a driving license. That include me as well but I postponed 2 month before I get my learning license. It was rough having school exam and driving lesson if I didn't postponed it.

This is for Kuala Belait district, I'm not sure about the cost in Bandar Seri Begawan.

I applied my driving school at Liyana, located at Kampung Baru, Seria, near the basketball court. I paid the lesson by part and not like others where you need to pay all at once such as the driving school in the Mumong area.

Below is the amount of money you need to pay by parts as you go further.

First Amount is B$125:

This include B$120 for learning and test for the Highway Code,
B$5 for applying for the learning license. This is not needed if you have applied it yourself at the JPD.

The teacher will ask you if you have a book about the Highway Code. The teacher will either borrow you or ask you to buy. There are two types and either one cost B$5. Get the blue one an not the white one because the blue will give you a higher chances of passing your Highway Code Test as it contain question in MCQ (Multiple Choice Question).

You should not get this.

The while book only contain information and not much as helpful as the blue book.

Second Amount is B$150

The cost for this is just for the driving lesson, which are teaching and letting you drive on the road and also teaching you how to park that are reverse parking, side parking and S-parking and how to drive on hill.

If you think you still don't have confident in driving, you could ask the teacher to increase the time, which also will increase the cost.

Last Amount is $160

The is the last amount you need to pay when you will be having your driving test at the JPD. This cost is for borrowing and road tax of the car.

After you have passed your driving test, you will need to bring another B$10 for applying a new driving license. Not a learning license anymore.

You will only get a paper type license in a week and after getting that, the officer will tell you that you need to come back at a certain day listed in a piece of paper to collect the new driving license (which have photo of yourself) at the administrative office. It is mostly around two month that you need to collect it.

Total Cost:

If you can get your license in a month before the expiry date of your learning license, the cost is at B$435.
Some school charge you around B$500 - B$600.

Other Cost:

B$10 - for expired learning license. Your teacher will help you reapply and you need to pay for that.

APN that can be use in Brunei

I got around 7 APN in my phone that came when I've bought it. It's a bit too much and sometimes annoying when your credit have expired or low with whatapps trying to find a server to connect to. This disconnect and reconnecting really suck my phone's battery life out. Usually can hold for 2 to 3 days without using can end up until few hour and low battery. I wrote all the APN I have into this post so I can delete all of it an leave one.

Some of it may have the same APN and I'm not sure of it. All of the APN below doesn't need password to go into the internet. I've only tried this on DST network and not sure about Bmobile user.

If you are unable to log in into you Instagram account and you are also a Dst user, you need to check if you are using Dst.wap as your APN. If it is, then I prefer you to change it to Dst.internet and then you are able to login again to your instagram.
