And history has so many tragic examples of this, leading up through today. However, I would encourage you to look at each individual, rather than labeling a particular religion as a whole. For example, I would argue that it is much more sound to look at Todd's character as an individual, rather than pigeon-holing him as one of "them."

Re: Before you invite someone to church, make sure they’re documented: Alabama’s immigration law

Todd, this very thoughtful and well-researched commentary makes me proud to call you my friend and colleague. Keep up the good work, keep fighting the good fight. It's up to our generation to try to put the brakes on this type of fear-based legislation.

Re: Before you invite someone to church, make sure they’re documented: Alabama’s immigration law

Good roundup of latest related news and mention of upcoming Frontline documentary http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pag...

Re: Lessons from my grandfather: Part 1 of 5 – Peace in the midst of the storm

Thanks for sharing. When I see the evil ways of many so-called Christian people today, I am ashamed, because I cannot tell them apart from the non-Christian or even the Satan worshiper.

People, don't bother going to church, JESUS is NOT coming back, at least no to the USA, specially to Alabama...sorry Jesus, your wicked people only pretends to love you and to follow, but they are worst than the unbelievers.

Jesus, don't waste your time trying to save them or rapture them because you are NOT welcome here Jesus, because you are:
a brown-olive-skinned, illegal undocumented alien of Jew descendant with that annoying foreign accent, who is trying to take the job we didn't want anyway.

Re: I thought worldviews were three-dimensional: Apparently I’m an anomaly

The absurd eddy of logic you've been forced into reminds me of what Douglas Adams said in his Hitchhiker's Guide Trilogy was the definition of intelligence: "To simultaneously have tea and no tea." Why now?

Well said. It is often difficult to break away from the stereotypical roles. Throughout my journey at UU, I am often reminded of God's love for diversity and what each one contributes to the community and world. It is also at UU that I feel the overwhelming burden of gender roles and discrimination. Why would God's people continue to place labels when Christ's mission on earth was to break those labels? Elevating women's status and crossing cultural boundaries were of great importance to Jesus while alleviating pain and suffering, yet we forget. Being honest, it is much easier to separate my Christian worldview from the social work thought because of these roles. Of course the two views are compatible, and I find it difficult to share my passion to those I worship with. Shouldn't the church body be a safe haven for restoration? I look forward to reading your entries to maybe help me with my own journey.
