For those not in the know, a billycart - known as a soapbox car in the US - is a motorless vehicle which is typically driven by a child and propelled by nothing more than gravity.

Tourists staying at hotels in Brisbane on August 22nd 2010 will have the opportunity to watch as kids of all ages – including a few adults who should really know better – compete to win a variety of races and prizes.

Among the awards up for grabs are those for fastest billycart, the winners of five different age categories, plus most imaginative design and the prestigious best dressed team.

The mascot race, which the organisers claim has proved to be hugely successful in the past, will also return for the 2010 event.

The programme begins on Tuesday August 24th 2010 and runs until Friday 27th, with a different group taking to the stage each night.

However, this is not just an average gig, since attendees will be able to appreciate the art on display in the museum as well as the spectacular sounds of a series of talented musicians.

Hotel Bilbao guests will have the chance to see Christian Howes Quartet on the first night, with the titular performer having played with Les Paul, Dafnis Prieto and a variety of other famous musicians in the past.

The following night sees the José Alberto Medina trio featuring Dick Oatts - a highly respected saxophonist - on stage, while Thursday evening will see Mamen García presents El Cofrecito.

And finally, Fredrik Carlquist & Dave Mitchell Quartet will cap off the week of jazz with their saxophone and guitar-led sound.

Doors open at 23:00 local time and attendees can enjoy Art and Jazz until 02:00 in the morning.

Tickets cost €14.50 (£12.15), although travellers who are members of the art space can get in for €7.50.

It’s often the last thing holidaymakers think about before they head off on their travels but those opting to drive to the airport this summer could find themselves out of pocket when arranging their airport parking, according to leading travel essentials provider EssentialTravel.co.uk.

Research by EssentialTravel.co.uk has shown that airport parking could holidaymakers 25 per cent more than they expect, due to “hidden charges” levied by airport parking providers.

The company has revealed that a week’s airport parking, which can be booked for as little as £20.001, could creep up by an additional £5.002 once booking charges, credit card fees and cancellation waivers are taken into account.

In addition, sun-seekers could find themselves as much as £10.003 out of pocket if they decide to cancel their airport parking.

“Holidaymakers have grown wise to the “hidden costs” associated with low-cost airlines and are becoming experts on how to avoid them but most don’t apply the same tactics to booking their airport parking,” says Stuart Bensusan, EssentialTravel.co.uk.

“Parking at the airport can be a really affordable option, but only if you do your home- work and make sure you are aware of any hidden “add-ons” or extra costs.”

To help customers save money EssentialTravel.co.uk has opted to reduce or eliminate its own cancellation waivers, charges and credit card fees in time for the peak summer holiday period.4 The company has scrapped its two per cent credit card fee completely, reduced the cancellation waiver from £0.99 to just £0.50 and instead of charging a £9.50 cancellation charge, customers will now only forfeit £5.00 if they wish to cancel a booking that has been made without paying the cancellation waiver.
