Over his career, Alex has, among other things: held down residencies with legendary clubs like DC’s Buzz, SF’s Spundae, and Boston’s Avalon; managed Deep Dish's Yoshitoshi Shop and Yoshitoshi.com; appeared on numerous syndicated dance music radio shows, including John Digweed's show in the UK and Thump Radio here in the US; toured extensively with his long-time studio mate Dave Ralph, and, well... you get the idea. Having taken a break from the scene in 2008 so that he could make serious progress on a PhD in political science (and how many DJs do you know that could say that?), Alex is back with a new energy, adding drum + bass to an arsenal that already included an impressive array of both current and future downtempo, progressive house, and techno classics. Coming up in the scene, all I ever wanted was a shot - just one shot! - at playing in the main room at Buzz. The thought that one day Scott Henry, the godfather of the DC dance music scene, might offer me a monthly residency alongside Dave Ralph, an insanely talented DJ and all-around good guy, was more than I would have ever dared to dream. But then it happened, and the rest, as they say, is history. This set is inspired by those nights at Nation with Dave. I'd open, he'd play peak, and on the best of nights I'd then keep it going until 6 and sometimes even 7am. The first hour of this set is reminiscent of how I'd handle the first shift, the last two how I'd handle the close. One for the Legendary Buzzlife Crew...
